Jasper had finally relaxed. He was in Eleanor's bed, propped up by many, many of her pillows, and she was sat beside him, with her hand on his knee.

"I can't stay in this ben Len, I'm going to go insane"

"I can get you a TV, and books, and we can play cards."

"Not going to change the insanity of being stuck in a bed."

"A few days and I can definitely make it worth your while" Eleanor suggested playfully, rubbing her hand on his leg.

"A few more weeks more likely your highness, unless you want to put him back in the hospital" a doctor said, entering Eleanor's room through the open doors and approaching Jasper, before checking him over to make sure his travel to the palace had not exacerbated anything. Once satisfied, he continued:

"No physical exertion other than what you are given by the physiotherapist" he looked pointedly at Eleanor "and believe it or not, I know how hard, and uncomfortable bed rest can be. It may be better for everyone's sanity if you spent the time on the sofa or in a chair. They aren't that far away. I will be in to see you every couple of hours Mr Frost."

"You want to move to the chair don't you?"

Jasper smiled at her and nodded. She scrambled off the bed and Jasper moved the covers off his legs. Slowly, he dropped his feet to the floor and reached for his crutches, batting away Eleanor as she tried to help.

"I love you, Len, but I need to be able to do this myself. You still have your Royal Schedule to attend to."

It did not stop her shadowing him as he got to his feet to make sure he didn't fall. He was on his feet and taking small steps to the chair, when someone else came into the room.

"Disobeying the doctors already are we cripple?" Liam asked

"Doc told me I can move to the chair and back, smartass."

"That's Your Royal Smartass. Len, mum is looking for you."

Eleanor rolled her eyes.

"She clearly hasn't looked very hard. You'll stay and make sure he behaves?"

"Sure."

"I'm right here!"

"And I will be back soon." Eleanor said, before giving him a swift kiss on the lips.

"Now that she is gone, we can talk."

"Can I sit first?"

Jasper painfully made his way to the tall backed chair and, balancing himself and the crutches, dropped into it a bit too hard, making him gasp in pain.

"You ok?" Liam asked.

"I got shot"

"That's what I wanted to talk to you about."

"I can't remember much Liam."

"So tell me what you do."

"I remember getting to that alley. I remember looking around for the lead you told me about, and I remember a flash of light. I don't even know what made me think gun."

"No one knew we were going there, not even you, you just followed me"

"I had that thought yesterday. Who ever was there took it as a moment of opportunity, and if, if that is the alley where your father was attacked, then it is possible that the same person who shot me, is the same person who murdered your father."

"That's what I thought. I need to get back into that alley."

"Liam, don't you dare. It is clearly not safe for you."

When Liam didn't respond, Jasper sat up straighter, causing his wound to stretch and hurt, something that did not go unnoticed by Liam.

"Promise me Liam. Don't make me getting shot worth nothing."

Liam looked at Jasper and saw the pain and concern in his eyes.

"Fine. I promise I won't go without you."

There was a pause and Jaspers breathing didn't slow down. He also hadn't moved from the position that had hurt him.

"You ok?"

"No."

Liam got out of his chair, walked over to the side of the bed and pressed the buzzer.

"Doctor to Len's room please."

Within minutes, the doctor arrived and saw Jasper sat in a position he was clearly in a lot of pain in.

"What happened?" he asked, as he had seen Jasper less than an hour ago.

"Tried to change position too quickly"

"Let's get you comfy, then we'll take a look shall we?"

Jasper simply grunted, allowing the doctor to guide him back into the chair. Once settled, the doctor lifted Jasper's t-shirt and then the bandage covering the wound. While it wasn't bleeding, it was swollen and pink.

"I think you have pulled one of the internal stitches, rather than ripped it. You need some ice on that."

The doctor rummaged in his medical box and produced a chemical ice pack, which he cracked and handed to Jasper as Eleanor walked back in the room.

"What the hell happened?" she demanded rushing over to Jasper.

"Irritated a stitch by moving too quickly. He'll be alright." the doctor told her, packing away his tools and leaving.

Eleanor locked eyes with Jasper, confirming he was ok, before walking up behind Liam and hitting him on the back of the head.

"OW!" he cried "What the hell was that for?"

"Because I know you were responsible for that!" Eleanor said waving her hand at Jasper, who was holding the ice pack the doctor had given him to his side.

"We were just talking." Liam protested, but he could tell Eleanor did not believe him.
