Earthbender

Nezu always prided himself on how accepting of others U.A. was under his guidance. It didn't matter to him if you were death, blind, autistic, quirkless, an amputee, had a criminal record, or anything else that could be perceived as a handicap. As long as you had the resolve to reach your full potential. So when a special needs school emailed him about a blind young man with a powerful quirk that gave him such fine control over the earth that he could actually "see" he knew that he had to meet him.

Extending an invite to the boy in question, and his guardian(s) to come to U.A. and discuss the possibility of him joining the hero course. Nezu watched through the cameras as the young green-haired boy walked through the grounds and halls completely unaided and with complete confidence in where he was going.

Nezu could not help the grin. "He is most certainly going to be an interesting student. Don't you agree, Shota?" The quirked chimera questioned Eraserhead.

"We'll see." The underground hero grumbled. Upon Nezu announcing the idea of bringing a blind person onto the hero course to him and the other hero teachers, he had been the most against it and had no issue voicing his objections. Plenty of heroes with able bodies and powerful quirks had died in the line of duty. What good reason could they give for sending a cripple out into such a dangerous job? Where was the logic!?

Nezu had heard all his complaints as well as the worries of the majority of the others and gave Shota Aizawa an ultimatum. "Why don't you come to the meeting and test him? If he fails, I'll decline the request. If he passes, he can take the entrance exam."

Shota had given one of his most unsettling grins at the offer. If this kid thought this would be a simple meeting, he had another thing fucking coming!

The door to Nezu's office opened as Hound Dog led the visitors in. The boy in question had messy green hair and diamond freckles. He wore a simple emerald green t-shirt, beige shorts, light green sandals, and sunglasses that had a dark green frame. The heroes in the room took note of how well-built he was, showing that the boy was no slacker.

Izuku's mother stood next to him looking far more nervous than the boy in question, holding a folder in her hand. "Thank you for agreeing to see us, Principle Nezu." The small, plump woman greeted with a bow. One which her son wordlessly mimicked.

"It is no problem Mrs Midoriya. U.A. is a place of equality, and I am always to give a person a chance." Nezu replied before gesturing to the two seats in front of his desk. "Please take a seat."

Both Midoriya's complied and while Inko spared a glance at Aizawa, Izuku seemingly paid him no mind.

"This is all the records you asked for, Principle." Inko spoke as evenly as she could, as she offered the folder to the chimera.

"Marvelous!" Nezu replied as he accepted the fodder. Honestly, this could have all been done online with a couple of Emails, and a video call. But Nezu knew his staff, especially Aizawa, would want to test the boy. That was why he wanted an in-person meeting. Opening the folder Nezu was greeted with Izuku's results from the last testing period. He was pleased to see how high the scores were. Followed by a few other previous test results showing that he consistently got high scores. "You have an impressive mind Mr. Midoriya." Nezu praised, causing a small grin to appear on Izuku's face. "And I assure you, that you will need it if you wish to succeed here at U.A.'' Nezu closed the file and placed it on his desk. "U.A. has helped blind students before and has staff on hand capable of helping you in that department. Having the needed books translated into braille will not be an issue either as I have the necessary resources here to do so at a moment's notice. The main thing I wish to talk to you about is your quirk, Earthbender. I have been told that you use it to "see" in a sense. Could you describe how you do this for me in as much detail as you possibly can?"

"I can sense the ground, and vibrations through the ground. It's how I see you, the guy who stood to my right, Hound Dog next to the door, even the person who I am guessing is Powerloader down in the workshop." Izuku began his explanation. "I can use my quirk to see facial features, and deep scars, and tell when someone is lying through their heartbeat. I can't see anything written down because it's too thi-" Izuku's explanation was cut off as he suddenly loses his connection to his quirk and as such, his sight. Suddenly, Izuku feels some kind of fabric wrap around him tightly and restrain him to the chair.

"Izuku!" He hears his mother's panicked cry.

"You think just because you can use your quirk to get past your weakness, you can make it as a hero!?" A harsh voice growled at him, making Izuku realize that it was the man who had been standing wordlessly next to the desk and making him realize who it was. "Picking you off would be easy, for anyone with an erasure quirk, or anyone who can fly! I will not let you join the hero course, just for some good publicity! Just to stroke your own ego!"

Eraserhead's words hit the same points as previous criticisms had before, but his words had far more of an impact than those before Thankfully Ereaserhead's speech had run long enough for Izuku to begin calming his panicked heart, and remember the same counterarguments he had used whenever someone else brought up these points.

"Erasure and flying quirks could be used to kill a lot of heroes…" Izuku stated as he began to counter Aizawa's arguments. "... And while I might not be able to see some things you can, there are also things I can see that most can't, like someone pulling a knife when my back is turned, and what is going on around a corner or behind a wall. I know I can't do it all alone, and I don't intend to try." Izuku argued back before looking towards where Aizawa's voice had originated from. "Whether you doubt me or not shouldn't even matter, I can see many things a normal person can, and some things they can't. I deserve the chance to at least try, and prove myself." Izuku finished firmly.

"I agree." Nezu spoke up. "Aizawa, could you please let him go?" Without a word, Aizawa canceled his quirk and released the boy from his capture scarf. The underground hero scowled as he realized that he had lost this battle. "I will have the needed preparations made for you to take the entrance exam, along with everyone else. Mrs Midoriya, I will email you the needed information once the preparations are finished. If you don't mind I would like to keep hold of this file so I can make sure everything is properly prepared?"

"Of course! Thank you so much Principle Nezu! You have no idea what this means to me and my son!" Inko replied with a tearful smile. Izuku was sporting a large smile of his own.

Nezu simply chuckled. "Think nothing of it. I have only allowed Izuku the chance to take the entrance exam." He replied before looking at the teen in question. "If you wish to join the hero course, you will have to go plus ultra to pass the written exam and be among the top 36 of the practical exam."

"I won't let you down." Izuku vowed.

"Then I will see you in the hero course in the coming academic year." Nezu replied with another chuckle.

Both mother and son were soon escorted out of the office, but not before they bowed and thanked Nezu once again. Once the door to the office closed Nezu picked up the file and continued to read through it.

"Was there ever a chance of me changing your mind?" Shouta eventually asked.

"A small chance. If Izuku had a complete nervous breakdown, I would have reconsidered." Nezu answers without looking up from the file. "But other than that, no. Even if we turned him down, there are many hero schools that would be willing to accommodate him given the power of his quirk. But none of them would have been able to challenge him the way we can, he could pass most hero courses with ease and learn nothing more than he could've picked up from independent study. None of them have the variety we do to challenge him." Nezu elaborated, to which Shouta sighed. "If it makes you feel any better, he still has to pass the exam."

"He's going to pass isn't he?" Shouta questioned, to which Nezu laughed.

"I would say so." The chimera answered.

Izuku followed the rest of his group to their designated testing area. He had sat the written exam in a private room alongside someone who had been tasked with writing down Izuku's answers. The questions had been in braille so rather than them being spoken to him, Izuku had read them himself.

After time was up, Izuku joined the others in the atrium for the debrief of the practical exam. He had sat in the front row so he could "see" the models the Present Mic had of the various robots. Now as they waited for the exam to begin Izuku took off his sandals allowing the world to come into focus and increase the distance of his seismic sense. "Much better." Izuku sighed. All around him, Izuku could feel the anxious pounding of the other contestants' hearts, and he couldn't help but grin. "Nice to know I'm not the only one sweating bullets." He thought to himself.

With the abrupt sound of the Present Mic's voice some of the participants (Izuku included) shot forth with the others scrambling to catch up. Manipulating the ground beneath his feet, Izuku was at the head of the pack.

As soon as Izuku noticed the robots ahead of him, he jumped into the air. As he landed, a chunk of stone shot out of the ground between him and the robots. Izuku shot his two open palms out in front of him and the large stones fell toward the robots as if they had been shot out of a cannon. As the stone hit the robots were destroyed by the hail of rocks leaving dents and tearing chunks out of the edges, as they collapsed to the ground. "That's 7." He grinned in satisfaction, before going toward the next batch of robots.

And so the exam continued with Izuku going from one robot to the next, throwing stones and stalagmites at any robot he could find, with providing cover in the form of stone walls to those who needed it. Izuku finally stopped for a moment to catch his breath. Basking in his adrenalin high. Izuku always loved to use his quirk. It was his eyes, it was his freedom, it was his identity, it was his everything! And today he got the chance to show it off more than he had in a long time. It was liberating!

Then he felt it. The ground breaking as a giant metal monstrosity rolled ever closer.

"Holy shit!" Izuku cried out in shock. His seismic sense had trouble with metal, but even he could tell it was taller than any of the buildings.

All around him, Izuku could feel the other contestants fleeing, while he was sizing up the now-revealed zero pointer, wondering if he could beat the giant robot.

"Help!" A female voice cried out, bringing Izuku back to the world around him. Spotting the young woman trapped under rubble in the path of the zero pointer, Izuku rushed forward. Using 4 pillars of concrete to prop up the debris due to the iron rebar in the rubble, he pulled her out and quickly used his earthbending to create a hole in the ground beneath them and seal it before the zero pointer could grab them.

"That was close." The girl mentioned breathlessly. "Thank you for saving me."

"You're welcome." Izuku replied as he focused on the giant robot above them and the ground surrounding it. Pushing his power as far as it could go, he sent multiple stalagmites toward the lower part of the robot including from beneath it and into the gears. But the metal was far too strong and the concrete and stone gave way instead of the robot's hull. "Dammit." Izuku grumbled.

Maybe next time.

"Izuku, it's here!" Inko called out to her son. The boy in question shot out of his room, leaving the music playing in his room.

"What does it say!?" Izuku eagerly asked. He despised having to rely on people to read things for him, but right now he was far too excited.

"Let's find out!" Inko beamed. Opening the letter she found 2 papers. The first was Izuku's results in kanji, and the second one was in braille. "It looks like you can read this one for yourself, Izuku." Inko mentioned as she handed him the braille paper.

Izuku ran his finger across the bumps and began to read out loud. "Dear, Mydoria Izuku. We here at U.A. would like to congratulate you on joining the hero course! You passed the written test with an outstanding 86%! We would also like to congratulate you on achieving the highest score in the practical exam with 85 hero points and 88 rescue points! Congratulations, and I hope to see you soon. Your future heroics teacher, ALL MIGHT!?"

Shota could not believe this. Not only did the blind kid pass, but he also achieved the highest score on this year's practical exam, and now he has been assigned to his class. Great. Just fucking great! The first day hadn't already begun and had identified a problem child!

Creeping closer to the door of his classroom, he began to hear the voices of the students inside.

"Wait? You're blind and you still passed the hero exam!? Dude! That's so manly!" He heard one student roar.

"Great. One of those guys." Shota thought with a roll of his eyes.

"While impressive, I must ask how you could have possibly passed the written portion? Not to sound rude, but, well…" A more refined, female voice questioned.

"They gave me a question paper in braille, and someone else wrote down my answers. Turns out they can print braille on site." Izuku answered without any anger in his tone.

"Tch, as if someone who can't even write could possibly be a hero." One student snarked, who he had to guess was Katsuki Bakugo. When he had come in to finalize his acceptance, he had been arrogant and rude, leading to Shota being warned as such.

"I've got a better chance than you, with your head shoved up your ass!" Izuku shot back harshly.

"You want to go Deku!?" Katsuki threatened with audible pops, a sign he was using his quirk.

Shota instantly entered the classroom.

"Bring it, Baka!" Izuku replied before Shota erased both his and Katsuki's quirk and trapped them in his capture scarf.

"The fuck!?" Katsuki yelled out in confusion.

"Fighting outside of sanctioned combat sessions will be punished." Shota stated firmly making his presence known to the class. "Unsanctioned fighting in my class will lead to immediate expulsion. Consider this your only warning!" He growled. Katsuki looked furious at being interrupted, while Izuku only smirked. "Of Course, he knew I was there." Shota thought to himself. Without another word, he released the duo, (half expecting them to try something but neither did) and tossed a bin bag in front of the desks. "Take out your uniforms and follow me." He ordered.

Soon.

As class 1-A returned to their classroom after finishing their quirk assessment. Izuku felt content with his placing at 3rd, having been beaten by Momo Yaoyorozu in second who seemed to be able to pull whatever she needed out of her body, and first was claimed Rikido Sato who had constantly come either first, second, and sometimes third. It's only natural a physical exam would be dominated, by someone with a quirk that increased someone's physical strength.

"Hey, Midoriya. Do you and Bakugo know each other?" Sero asked Izuku once Katsuki had stormed far enough ahead to not hear them. To which Izuku gave a deep sigh.

"Unfortunately." The blind boy answered mournfully. "Our mums are friends, so when they met up, they used to bring us along. Baka over there thought he could walk all over me just because I was blind! Needless to say, I didn't appreciate the comments." Izuku's sharp tone made it clear to everyone who was listening in, that things had gotten ugly.

"Deplorable! How could such a delinquent ever be accepted into U.A!?" Tenya questioned, to which Izuku shrugged.

"Beats me." He answered, once they all returned to the classroom and picked up their timetable, they decided to explore the grounds together to avoid getting lost in the future.

"Welcome to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint or the USJ for short!" Thirteen announced as she proudly showed the first years her brainchild.

Izuku along with the rest of class 1-A stood in their hero costumes. Izuku's was a jade green jumpsuit that was waterproof and lined with kevlar with sandy beige patches over the thin ceramic plates over his chest, back, knees, and elbows. To finish it off he wore a jade-green strip of cloth tied around his eyes. Both Izuku's hands and feet were bare so he could control his quirk better.

As Thirteen continued with her explanation, Izuku could feel Katsuki glaring at him. He had been ever since their battle training. Izuku had originally intended to fight the explosion quirk user, but when Ochaco asked if they could simply avoid him, Izuku realized that would annoy him far more than losing, and had agreed. Using Float they had landed on the roof and Izuku had made a hole allowing them to simply drop onto the bomb and earn them the second fastest winning time.

Once they entered the building Izuku scanned the entire area with his seismic sense and detected people in the various zones. "That's a lot of people." He muttered, but Aizawa heard him.

"What!?" The underground hero questioned, clutching his capture scarf tightly.

"There are groups at each of the zones. About 20 at each one. Are they here to grade us, or do we have to rescue them?" Izuku responded calmly, thinking he had simply surprised him with the range of his seismic sense.

"There's not supposed to be anyone else here." Aizawa replied. As if on cue, a portal opened in the center, and a group of over 40 walked out of.

"Oh shit." Izuku thought out loud as the hairs on everyone's backs stood on end.

"Villians." Momo almost whispered tensely. Sending a shiver down the other students' spines.

"Communications are being jammed. I can't get through to Nezu." Thirteen mentioned, after trying to use her suit's built-in comms to get out a distress signal.

"So no one knows what's going on!?" Mineta panicked.

"All sights emit an all-clear signal every 5 seconds to Nezu's computer. A signal which is most likely being jammed as well." Aizawa responded as calmly as he could in the given circumstances. "Which means backup is on the way."

"So we've just got to hold out until help arrives?" Shoji questioned as he readied himself for a fight along with most of the class.

"Wrong." Aizawa cut in as he placed his goggles over his eyes. "Thirteen will take you all back to the main campus while I hold them off. "Now go!" With those final words, Eraserhead jumped down the stairs, prepared to fight every last villain he sees. "All those drills better have not been for nothing!"

"Everyone follow me!" Thirteen orders.

"We're not going to fight!?" Kirishima questioned.

"NO! NOW FOLLOW ME!" Thirteen shouted in answer. Her tone leaves no room to argue. She quickly made her way to the entrance, with the students following close behind.

But the entrance was blocked by the appearance of a black living mist, wearing a metal brace. "Good Evening young heroes." The mist spoke. "Today you will be a part of modern history, as The League of Villains makes themselves known to the world by killing The Symbol of Peace! And of course, all of you." It proudly proclaimed.

"You'll have to get past me first!" Thirteen shot back as she pointed a finger at the figure and activated her quirk. Hoping to quickly dispose of the villain so she could get the students to safety. But the villain had other plans.

"Thirteen, your quirk is truly impressive, but you made a mistake in focusing on rescue rather than combat!" The villain taunted. A portal opened behind The Space Hero. Turning her own quirk against her.

But the villain underestimated Thirteen. The second she felt her quirk tearing the back of her costume, she canceled her quirk and combat rolled out of the way, before standing back up, with the 5 fingers on her right hand. "I made no mistakes." She growled, biting back the pain. Her costume was torn from the back to the left shoulder. Blood leaked down her back and left arm from where the skin had been torn from her body by her own quirk.

"Die!" Bakugo roared as he used his quirk to launch himself toward the villain. Closely followed by Kirishima.

"No!" Thirteen called out.

Both boys were enveloped in the mist and disappeared. "2 down.18 more to go." The villain chuckled. The remaining hero students prepared themselves to fight, with Izuku covering himself in stones to protect himself from any redirected attacks. "Oh, you wish to fight? Then let me send you to your arenas. Or should I say, YOUR GRAVES!" With that mist from the figure lunges toward the group.

"Stay close!" Thirteen instructed as she uses her quirk once again in an attempt to block the attack, with the combined power of her 5 miniature black holes, she managed to shield herself and those who stood next to her, but all the others were scattered among the various zones that made up the USJ.

With Izuku.

Izuku felt the ground disappear beneath him and lost contact with the ground. Izuku saw nothing but darkness as he fell through the void until he crashed into a large body of water and began sinking fast.

"Shit!" Izuku mentally his fear he gasped, causing him to lose the little air he had. Izuku quickly separated himself from his stone armor and desperately attempted to swim up. Izuku could feel his body begin to strain due to a lack of oxygen when something wrapped around his waist and pulled him out of the water.

As he was placed onto a wooden deck, Izuku began retching up water on his hands and knees, before taking greedy breaths of air.

"Are you alright Midoriya? Ribbit." Asked a voice Izuku recognized as Asui.

"No. definitely not *cough cough* okay." Izuku replied, as he weakly got to his feet with Asui's support. "Where are we?"

"We're on the boat, in the flood zone. Ribbit." Asui replied.

"Who cares where we are!? We're still gonna die!?" Mineta wailed, making his precedents known to Izuku.

Izuku tried to use his seismic sense to detect the ground around the pool, or the stones he had brought with him but he couldn't reach them due to the water. "Great." He growled. "I can't control the earth from here." Suddenly a violent force rocked the boat and it began to sink. "What just happened!?"

"One of the villains cut the boat in half. Ribbit '' Asui answered, somehow keeping her calm demeanor despite the situation.

"We're gonna die!" Mineta whiled. "And before I even scored!"

"Shut up so I can think!" Izuku snapped. "Okay, we're basically stuck in the middle of a shark-infested pool. Pool. This thing must have some kind of drainage to keep it clean. So what if I… That could work." He muttered to himself as Asui and Mineta looked at one another. "I've got it! Asui, can you get me to the ledge? I'm going to pull the plug on this fucker!" Izuku grinned.

"I can do it! And call me Tsuyu. Ribbit." Asui confirmed.

"What about me!? I don't want to be left behind!" Mineta whined.

"Tsuyu. How far could you throw him?" Izuku asked.

"What!?"

"Pretty far. Ribbit." Asui answered,

"Do it. Throw him one way, we'll go the other. Once you reach the edge. Hold on tight." Izuku answered. "Now go!"

In an instant, Tsu wrapped her tongue around Mineta and flung him as close to the edge as she could before grabbing onto Izuku and jumping in the other direction.

They landed back into the water with a splash and started to rapidly swim towards the edge, with Asui keeping hold of Izuku to help guide him and get him to the edge faster. The villains had split up to chase the students, causing their already high adrenaline levels to spike even higher.

Once they were close enough Asui used her tongue to reel them in faster as the villains were gaining on them.

But the second Izuku's hand touched the wall it was over. His seismic sense flared to life, and in a single motion, he locked his, Tsuyu, and Mineta's hands into place, and created a massive hole at the bottom of the large pool, causing the water to flood the drainage system. Izuku successfully managed to create a whirlpool that pulled the villains into the center, while the hero students were able to withstand its powerful current thanks to Izuku.

"What's going on!?"

"I can't break free!"

"Someone do something!"

The villains wailed in their panic. Once they were near the bottom Izuku manipulated the ground again to trap them up to their heads, effectively burying them alive.

Once it was safe. Izuku made a platform beneath him and Asui, as well as one for Mineta, and released the hands.

They slumped down with their backs to the pool walls, catching their breath before Asui spoke. "That was some quick thinking Midoriya. Ribbit" She praised. It might not have been a perfect plan, but it had worked swimmingly (pun intended).

"I wouldn't have worked without you Asui." Izuku replied.

"Call me Tsuyu." She replied.

"Then you must call me Izuku." He replied.

They were brought back to the real world by a thunderous boom coming from the USJ entrance followed by a booming voice. "THERE IS NO NEED TO FEAR STUDENTS! WHY!? BECAUSE I AM HERE!" The voice of All Might echoed throughout the entire structure. And his entrance signaled the beginning of the end of this nightmare.

I just couldn't help but wonder how well Toph or someone like her would fare in MHA.
