Chapter 9

TheStorm

"David." He heard his name being called from the distance.

It was his wife Regina; she approached him from the foyer. He spun on his stool in the kitchen to face her. His head cocked to the side; his lips forming a grin. She placed her hands on her hip, her own head cocking and brow raised."What?" She said.

He always found himself lost in awe whenever she stood before him. The sight of her alway sent pleasant tingles down his body; spreading warmth to his core. She was breath taking. Her dark curls falling just short of her shoulders, her lips painted his favourite shade of red and contrasting her dark brown eyes. Her slim pant suit clinging to her body; falling everywhere it should.

Her brows furrowed. "David!"

His lips fell opened. Her beauty before him taking his breath away. "Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?" He asked genuinely.

She giggled to herself; her hands falling loosely to her side, as she shook her head. "Yes. Everyday."

He stood from his chair, closing the distance between them. He was quick to cup her face with both hands; his lips capturing hers in a tender embrace. He didn't want to let go. For some reason he didn't understand why, he felt that if he did, he'd somehow loose her. He pulled her closer and tighter into his embrace. Squeezing her.

She pushed back up against his chest; looking up towards him, puzzled. "What's gotten into you?"

He felt his stomach twist; something didn't feel right, he was scared, all he wanted was to hold onto her. "I'm afraid." He said honestly. They didn't hide things from one another.

Regina's brow raised at him; as if to ask him why. It was she who pulled him back into her embrace squeezing him like a vice.

He had slumped, his head falling onto her chest. He took a deep inhale, taking in her scent. Sweet Apples; it was calming, reminding him of home. "I don't want to let go."

"Then don't." She responded. Her grip tightening.

"David. Please!" Regina pleaded, as the rain poured down heavily around her and David's lifeless body. He was cold and limp in her arms; she squeezed him tightly, embracing him. Her tears mixed with rain falling onto his face. "Please don't leave me!" She sobbed. "Not like this... Not like this! Please!" Her chest heaved as she pulled him closer. "I..." The sounds of sirens drawing her attention. She squeezed again. "I got you David. I got you Charming!"
