Author's Note: Happy New Year. To start off this hope-fully good year, I've taken the liberty of uploading the first chapter of this as well as some other Marvel/Disney Channel shows. I hope I did it well.
For this fanfic, I have substituted Marco Diaz with America Chavez, also known as Ms. America. The two are very similar and I just think this fanfic would work better without Marco. I hope that's okay. And I also hope I lead to a better conclusion than the series finale.
Any and all comments are welcome.
Once upon a time, in the magical dimension of Mewni, there was a prosperous kingdom which has reigned in peace for years. It was ruled by Queen Moon and King River Butterfly. But this isn't their story. This story starts with their daughter, the energetic Princess Star Butterfly.
Now, Star wasn't like most princesses. She was high-strung, energetic, and loved to tame wild unicorns and fight monsters. She mostly misbehaves, but all that was supposed to change after she turned 14 years old. It was on this day that she is meant to inherit her family's greatest responsibility, the royal magic wand.
The wand was an extremely powerful source of magic which has been passed down the Butterfly family line from generation to generation. If the wand ever fell into the hands of evil forces, it could lead to the end of the universe. Every monster wants to get his claws on it. That is why the wand is a great responsibility. Star Butterfly was all set and ready to inherit the wand, but after she did, it didn't take long for her to set the kingdom on fire by accident.
Rather than go to a princess boarding school, the king and queen have decided to give Star a lesson in responsibility by having her study on Earth. She was allowed to bring her wand with her as long as she would learn to be responsible with it. And so brings her to Echo Creek, where she was about to meet a certain girl who would change everything.
It was a normal day in school for the teenage mechanic, America Chavez. This dark-skinned girl with jean jacket and pants slouched in her desk letting her brown hair hang back. She also wore a red, white, and blue shirt with a white star on the front. Everything changed once she heard the principal's voice on the intercom.
"America Chavez to the principal. America Chavez to the principal."
The girl shrugged and stood up. She got her pass from Ms. Skullnick and headed out the door. She passed from one hallway to another until she came across Principal Skeeves in the courtyard holding a treasure chest in his hands.
"You wanted to see me, Principal Skeeves?" America asked.
"Yes, I do, America. I'd like to introduce you to our newest foreign exchange student, Star Butterfly." He motioned his hand to the water fountain where a teenage blonde girl with colorful clothes and hearts on her cheeks studied closely.
"Fascinating," America said curiously, "But what does that have to do with me?"
"Well, her parents have informed me that she's going to need a guide to keep her out of trouble, so I've decided to leave her in your hands."
America almost lost her breath in surprise. "Say what? No, no, no. Principal Skeeves, I'm not a tour guide."
"You are now." Skeeves said before holding up his treasure chest. "Now, I'm off to the ice cream shop. Daddy's getting all 52 flavors."
America tried to protest again, but she couldn't get a sentence in before he walked out of hearing range. She exasperated before turning to Star, who was biting on the fountain.
"All right, feisty. Step away from the fountain." America said pulling Star toward her. "Hola. I'm America Chavez. Let's make this quick."
"Oh, right. Thanks for showing me around." Star said as she began skipping across the courtyard. America followed with an unenthused frown on her face. Star kept getting super excited at everything she saw.
"So I'm guessing you just arrived at Echo Creek?" America asked.
"Pretty much. My mom and dad sent me here to learn about 'responsibility'." Star giggled.
"Well, I don't really have much to be responsible for," America said, "Other than myself and my motorcycle."
Star gasped. "You have a motorcycle?"
America proudly cracked a small smile. "Sure do. It's basically the most exciting thing about this town, and it's mine."
"Well, if you live for excitement, then I'm just the girl for you." Star said. "In fact, I've got just the thing for you, America Chavez." The princess pointed her wand into the air and shot a beam at a passing butterfly. The bug quickly changed into a gigantic, white and pink monster with blue wings. It screeched before taking a random kid with it into the air.
America was startled by the sudden appearance of the monster and turned to Star. "What happened?! How did you do that?!"
"Oh, the principal didn't tell you?" Star asked. She spun herself around and made a rainbow above her head. "Well, I'm a magical princess from another dimension." The rainbow quickly caught on fire.
America stared with a surprised look on her face. "Another… dimension?" she asked. "Oh, no. No, no, no. This can't be happening. Why me?"
Star looked a little confused. "You okay?"
"I… I need some space. I'm going home now." She quickly turned and ran off.
"Okay. BYE, NEW FRIEND!" Star waved away.
America didn't waste any time heading to her apartment. She went into her home and slouched at the door she closed behind her.
"This can't be happening. I thought I was done with that life."
"What life?"
America gasped as she instinctively threw a punch. Thankfully, Star dodged out of the way. America breathed surprised to see the princess in front of her.
"You? What are you doing in my apartment? And how did you know I lived here?"
"I asked the principal where you lived, and he gave me the address." Star said. "He also said that since I'm your responsibility, then I'll be living with you."
America's face dropped. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me. Look, Star, if I wanted a super-cheery attitude messing up my perfect home, I'd get myself a litter of puppies."
Star gasped with a bright expression on her face. "I LOVE PUPPIES!" She suddenly, blasted another beam out of her wand and materialized eight cute puppies before her.
"I DIDN'T SAY I WANTED PUPPIES!" America yelled out. "TAKE THEM AWAY BEFORE I…" She was interrupted when the puppies fired lasers out of their eyes.
"Sorry. Still getting used to my new wand" Star said. "So where will I be sleeping?"
"I'm sure there's a hotel nearby that can…"
"Ooh, a spare bedroom!" Star interrupted America when she opened a door near the back of the apartment.
"That's the guest bedroom." America said. "And I use it on very rare occasions."
"So no one's actually using this." Star said. "Perfect. Now then… SPARKLE GLITTER BOMB EXPAND!" She shot another spell from her wand which grew a giant castle tower right through the guest bedroom's wall. America growled seeing the royal, three-story setting.
"Do you have any idea the damage you've done to my security deposit?"
"Security what-now?" Star asked. America yelled loudly as she headed out the door. "Hey. Where are you going?"
"I NEVER ASKED FOR THIS!" America cried out. "IF YOU NEED ME, I'LL BE OUT FOR A WALK! SO DON'T NEED ME!" She slammed the door shut behind her leaving Star regretful.
On her way down, America passed by the landlord. "Hey, did your apartment just expand?"
"Talk to the blondie with the magic tricks." America said as she kept walking out.
Night fell on Echo Creek and America had taken her motorcycle to a convenience store. She went in for a few minutes before walking out with a soda cup in her hand. She sighed as she sat on her motorcycle seat and began taking sips from her straw.
"What am I going to do? That devil-horn wearing princess shows up and suddenly…"
"I think I get it."
This time, America wasn't surprised to see Star next to her. America noticed the regretful look on Star's face and returned with a sympathetic look in kind.
"So… you need me?" America asked.
"More like I realized how much you didn't need me." Star said sullenly. "I'm sorry I've been an inconvenience to you. I didn't get a choice about coming here to Earth. And you didn't get a choice about having to deal with me. I'm really sorry, America. I'll start looking into this hotel thing since you hate me."
America sighed. "Look, Star, it's not that I hate you. It's just… Well, you remind me of a part of myself I'd rather forget."
"What does that mean?" Star asked.
"Well… It's complicated." America said. "You see, I…" She widened her eyes looking behind Star. "Uh, friends of yours?"
Star turned in alarm seeing nine different monsters surrounding her and America. One was a bear with a horn. Another was a large bull man with tusks. There was also a monster chicken, an ogre with antlers, a giraffe beast, a three-eyed monster, a red imp with two heads and three pecs, a buff frog, and a very tiny bird with a buffalo skull on his head.
"Star Butterfly." The bird greeted proudly. "At last, I've found you."
"Ludo." Star growled.
"You know this guy?" America asked.
"He's the leader of an evil monster gang." Star said. "He's been trying to get my wand for years."
"Ludo, huh?" America asked.
"That's right, human girl." Ludo said. "Does the name strike fear into your heart?"
"No, but that tiny dress does."
"Hey! Don't you dare make fun of me!" Ludo yelled out. "Boys, grab the wand!"
The monsters roared and ran toward Star. The princess readied herself to fight, but was surprised to see America throw the first punch. Once the boar man came close enough, America's fist sent him flying backwards.
"Whoa! You can fight?" Star asked excitedly.
"More than that." America said. "Now, let's pound these monsters into dust!" She threw another punch at the horned bear.
"Way ahead of you!" Star said sending a blast at the antler beast.
Ludo turned to his buff frog spy and jumped up to his face. "You said she was unguarded." Buff Frog shrugged.
"RAINBOW FIST PUNCH!" Star cried out shooting a hard beam at the three-eyed monster. She turned to see Buff Frog run at her with a lamp post. But that didn't phase her so much as it made her point her wand again. "JELLY BEAN HALLUCINATION MIST!" A spray shot out of her wand trapping Buff Frog in a hypnotic trip.
America continued to punch at monsters until they began to pile up on her. She was completely surrounded by Ludo's henchmen and Star began to get worried. Suddenly, her worries became confusion as she burst out of the pile in a star-shaped explosion. Not only that, but America hovered herself high into the air. America then flew on down to deliver a super strong punch at the chicken monster strong enough to leave a crater. She then landed back down next to Star, who stared in amazement.
"You're super strong and you can fly?! How?!"
"Answers later! Monsters now!" America reminded.
"Right! I'll end this! MEGA NARWHAL BLAST!" Star cried out as she fired a swarm of gigantic narwhals out of her wand. It squashed the monsters leaving every assailant in a very sore state.
"YOU SEE, YOU MORONS?!" Ludo cried out pulling out a pair of interdimensional scissors. One cut into the air and a dark-green portal opened up. "This is what happens when you don't work out! Your muscles are like pudding!" He guided his henchmen through the portal before jumping in himself. He stuck his head back out to deliver one last speech. "I'll get you, Star Butter…" He was interrupted when the portal began to close around his neck. He quickly retreated back in before his head was cut off.
Star and America were left alone in the convenience store parking lot, and the former turned to her guide in surprise. "That… was… AMAZING! You… You were strong! You could fly! You could… How did you do all that, America?! I thought humans couldn't do that!"
America sighed as she sat back down at her motorcycle. "You want the truth? Fine. The truth is… You're not the only girl in Echo Creek that's from another dimension."
Star gasped. "GET OUT OF TOWN!"
"It's true." America said. "I'm from a parallel Earth called Utopia. It was disgustingly peaceful, and I had the best moms who raised me. One day, my moms, they… They made the ultimate sacrifice to prevent a planetary disaster from destroying us. I was inspired by their bravery, so I left Utopia to be a hero where I was needed, from one dimension to the next."
"That's so cool." Star said. "So why are you living a boring life here on Earth?"
"Hey, my motorcycle is not boring." America laughed. "Well, truth be told, my heroic plans didn't go exactly the way I expected. I decided to take some rest and live in this boring town. It's the way I've been living for the past couple of years, until this morning when you came to Echo Creek."
Star paused herself realizing the impact she must have made at America.
"I didn't mean to make you feel bad, Star." America continued. "I guess I was just so surprised and confused after seeing another strong, naïve girl from another dimension. I just needed some time to process this."
"So… does that mean I can stay with you?" Star asked.
America shrugged. "Sure. I mean, it's what my moms would have wanted."
"HUGS!" Star cheered wrapping her arms around America. The Utopian smiled without protesting against it. Star broke the hug.
"Still, we should probably talk to my landlord about that tower you made."
"Yeah. I'll take responsibility for that one." Star said.
"See? You're already at a good start." America said. "You'll be ready to handle that magic of yours in no time."
"As long as you're there with me, I'll handle anything." Star replied making America blush a little.
