What's up everyone, hope you're all doing awesome. Today we venture into the wonderous funderous world of GLEE. I've recently started watching it and even though I'm only like halfway through the first season, I've got the urge to write for it...more specifically Finn and Rachel or as the internet and show calls them; Finchel.
Before we get into the chapter I need to say a few things.
Thing 1: The pairings in this are Klaine, Finchel ( duh), Quick, Artina, Jarley, Samcedes, Wemma and Brittana.
Thing 2: This timeline is AU-ish, the '' ish'' will become obvious soon.
Thing 3: This is dravenstoker here, I now go by blazeinfernox25. I had a little⦠'' spat'' with google and now I have another account. The GLEE story is all me.
Anyway, that's all for this intro, now that I've tortured you with formalities, please enjoy chapter one of Maybe Baby.
'' Please no, please no'' Rachel willed as she looked at the plastic stick in her hands.
Despite her pleas, the screen flashed a plus sign. Rachel went wide-eyed and gasped, this couldn't be happening, not again.
It's a common idea that the first year of marriage is the hardest, mostly because of getting used to living together. However for Finn and Rachel Hudson, that wasn't the case at all, they had already been living together and were so used to and close to each other you'd think they were the same person. The only thing they actually had to do was consolidate some financial things, not too much work considering they lived two blocks away from a bank.
They were, by most people ( including their friends) the perfect couple. They had respectable jobs, Rachel as a Broadway actress and Finn as an AS Cambridge syllabus music/drama teacher and football coach. They were always willing to lend a ladder, offer babysitting services or a cup of sugar.
There seemed to be only one thing that could make their family complete; a child.
However, this came with its own problems.
Rachel first found out that she was pregnant after their honeymoon in Barbados, this made the newly weds feel amazing. They were so excited to spoil a child, their child. Their family and friends were also ecstatic, Kurt had already decided to buy his and Blaine's godchild a retro 80s outfit, fingerless gloves included.
However, after Rachel's first doctor's visit, her OBGYN Dr. Raj couldn't find a heartbeat. That wasn't uncommon for someone who just got pregnant however the doctor couldn't find any sign of a baby. Poor Rachel had had a miscarriage.
However, being the positive person he was, Dr. Raj assured them that this was a minor setback, and they should keep trying. They were both perfectly healthy and young adults.
So that's exactly what they did. The pair kept trying and eventually Rachel got pregnant again and unfortunately the same thing happened, the doctor could find no sign of a child. Another miscarriage. This time it was worse.
Rachel would come back from rehearsals depressed, would lie down in front of the TV and watch Netflix whilst losing track of time. She was losing weight, a lot of it, wasn't eating and hardly spoke to anyone, when she did speak to Finn or Kurt it was always short sentences.
What killed Finn the most was that he couldn't be with her all the time. The school he worked at had him working extra hours because, their GCSE music teacher; Mr. Adams, had become addicted to cough medicine and headache medication, causing them to force Finn to pick up Adams's class whilst he attended rehab.
The longer hours, extra papers to grade, pressure to turn his school's football team into regional champions had left him exhausted. So when he came home and saw his wife depressed on the couch, he was too tired to utter a single phrase to her, not like she'd listen anyway.
Eventually after being psychoanalyzed by Burt, the pair went to marriage counselling in which the shrink; Mrs. Pillsbury-Shuester suggested that they stop trying as it seemed to be tearing them apart.
So that's exactly what they did. For the past year and a half they had been focusing on their relationship with each other, the idea of a child seemingly drifting from their minds.
They had begun talking more, laughing more and just enjoying spending time together, whether it was watching The Good Place, eating out or just embracing in other under their comforter.
However, they still remembered, the heartache, the distance, the sadness, it would never fade. Normalcy was returning to the Hudson household, but there was still an ethos that couldn't be removed.

'' Hey Rach, I'm home'' Finn called as he entered their home. Recently teaching GCSE kids had made him exhausted. They had no ambition and were fine to just become Instagram models or become professional vapers.
His AS kids were more mature and driven but their sarcasm was a bit too much for the young teacher. They were talented performers but it was obvious that their attitudes were becoming too much for him to handle.
The worst however was his football team. These guys were useless. Gd what he'd give for Kurt back as a kicker. At least then they'd have a fighting chance. It also helped that his friend pretty much didn't age, Kurt was 26 but you'd have assumed he was 13.
He put his shoulder bag on the table. HE would love to just take a shower, eat dinner with Rachel , preferably with an alcoholic beverage of some sort with him and then sleep for a week. Alas, that wasn't an option.
Finn furrowed his brow and called his wife's name again. No response.
Finn then looked on the couch, no Rachel, he called her name again but no response.
Eventually he went upstairs and heard whimpering coming from their bathroom.
He knew that cry, it was un-mistakeable, he then kicked in the door easily, startling his poor wife who screamed as the door flew open.
'' Rach, calm down its me'' Finn said.
'' What the fuck Finn? You hear someone crying in a room and you bust in the door? I'm torn between attracted and revolted.''
'' And I'm torn between I'm sorry and you're welcome'' Finn joked.
A corner smile appeared on the brunette's face. Her eyes were still bloodshot and tears still ran down her face.
Wiping them away with his sleeve, Finn carried her to his chair in the living room. This a special privilege as not even his mother Carole was allowed in it.
'' You, ok?'' Finn asked.
'' Not, really.''
'' Why?''
Rachel went back upstairs and soon re-emerged with multiple pink sticks.
'' How many-
'' 36'' Rachel answered quickly. '' I wanted to be sure. I remember how you first reacted with Quinn.''
'' That was different, I'm not Beth's father.''
Rachel spoke in a broken whisper. '' I know, I , I don't know if I-we can do this again. Those miscarriages almost tore us apart. The last thing I want to do is lose you.''
'' You won't'' Finn said, picking her up and putting her on his lap. '' Listen, you can't think like that. If it Gd forbid happens, then we'll get through it. We can do this Rach. We'll be fine.''
Rachel smiled at her husband. He always knew exactly what to say. That's one of the main reasons she originally fell in love with him in the first place. She then proceeded to embrace him in a bone-crushing hug.
'' Ah. For someone who's only 5'4, you're really strong'' Finn winced.
'' Nope. You're just naturally weak to me'' Rachel shrugged.
Finn smirked then spun her around as he stood up. '' We're going to have a baby!''
And that wraps up chapter 1. Hope you all enjoyed it and as usual, stay safe and stay awesome!
