Leaving the café, Vesa continued to lead Fecto Elfilis, Kirby and Elfilin through the abandoned town. She stopped before what used to be her old neighborhood. Passing a few more blocks, she recognized her house near the forest, which was only one story tall. She sprinted her way to the front porch. Stopping at the front door, she noticed Elfilis stopped by her side, unsure of what else to do other than staying close by in case she needed support.

"This is where my family and I lived," Vesa explained.

Vesa reached for the door and pushed it open. When she stepped inside, Elfilis, Kirby and Elfilin followed her inside. Much to her surprise, the house had little to no furniture remaining. Moss, vines and flowers began growing in spots which were left unattended. Did her family move away, or did something else happen?

"Vesa?"

Vesa tilted her head towards Elfilis.

"I can show you what these rooms used to be, at least," Vesa rasped.

Vesa, Elfilis, Kirby and Elfilin ventured through the house, the human showing the other three where the kitchen, dining room and living room used to be. Meandering down the hall, she gestured to her parents' bedroom, the bathroom in the middle of the hall, and the laundry room next to the stairs leading into the basement. Finally, she stopped at the intersection which had all the doors leading to her siblings' bedrooms. Vesa shifted her gaze to her left.

"That was where my bedroom used to be."

Vesa stepped through the door. Once they were all inside, she went on to explain where her bed used to be, where her dresser used to be, and even the bookshelf she used to keep her jigsaw puzzles. Elfilis used this chance to reconstruct the image in their head. Vesa stopped for a moment and opened the closet door. She let out a startled yelp as a startled Awoofy jumped out, knocking her to the ground in the process before it scurried away. Elfilis immediately rushed to her side and picked her up.

"I-I'll be all right," Vesa stammered, "thank you."

"That's good to hear," Elfilis sighed.

Part of Elfilis felt angry at the creature for knocking her down like that, but the expression in Vesa's eyes was enough to keep them from retaliating…wait, did they just contemplate incinerating a creature because they mildly inconvenienced someone they cared for? That didn't sound like something they would've done before. That impulsive thought alone began to horrify them. Vesa, having recovered from the little ordeal, examined what used to be her closet.

"This is where I stored some of my formal clothes," Vesa explained, "and my crutches."

"I see," was all Elfilis could say.

Vesa returned her gaze to Kirby and Elfilin as they peered through a hole in the wall. She sighed and took a step back.

"That's all there is to it for my house," Vesa said, "our last stop is the Dew Garden."

Elfilis folded their ears back as Kirby and Elfilin approached the ultimate life-form.

"Let us depart, then," Elfilis nodded, "what direction is it?"

As soon as Vesa led Kirby and Elfilin out of the house, they ventured their way out of the neighborhood. When they stopped at the roundabout, Vesa took a different path. Racing along the hill, they could get a good view of the rest of the town. Eventually, they stopped at an old rusty gate leading into an overgrown forest path.

"Beyond this forest barricade," Vesa said, "is Berovnik Park. There should be a sacred shrine at the hill near the lake. Come on."

Vesa reached her hands for the gate, but it wouldn't budge. Kirby took the hint and approached the gate. Elfilis watched the pink star warrior struggle with it for a few moments, comically trying to push it open and failing. The ultimate life-form pulled the iron bar holding it shut out of the slot. It interested Elfilis in how Kirby didn't seem to be physically powerful when he had no copy abilities or when he wasn't fighting. The pink star warrior made a brief glance at the gate again before narrowing his eyes at Elfilis.

"Poyo," Kirby pouted.

"It's not showing off," Elfilis shrugged, "it's just removing the lock."

Vesa blinked twice before she pushed the gate open. Tilting her head to her left, she sauntered over to the abandoned booth and rummaged through the shelves inside it. She picked up the ceremonial incense burner and stashed it into her backpack. She even checked the shelves for a few more essential items her people used during the annual Elfin Blessings. As soon as she finished salvaging the artifacts left behind, she left the booth and stopped before Elfilis, Kirby and Elfilin.

"Ok," Vesa beckoned, "follow me!"

Vesa led the other three through the forest path. When they emerged from the forest path, Elfilis, Kirby and Elfilin stared in awe at the sight of a vast meadow. The lake beyond the garden bordered an adjacent mountain range. A small hill overlooking the range still had the statue and circular pedestal. But, Vesa noticed plants were growing all over the statue. The small chinchilla focused his gaze on the various different plants which defined the Dew Garden. Although, more plants began growing over the pavement path.

Elfilis glanced around curiously. The garden itself had a bit of mythical vibe to it, even if it wasn't in any real form of magic. Its appearance wouldn't be too different to some magical gardens back at their old home just based on appearance alone. Kirby and Elfilin started venturing along the pavement, occasionally taking a moment to examine the nearest flowers. Among the assorted flowers, seven unique flowers stood out among the entirety of the garden, giving off a faint bioluminescent light. Smiling, Vesa and Elfilis followed close behind. A nearby Rabiroo spotted them as they made their approach before it quickly scampered away. The pink star warrior and the small chinchilla stopped at the edge of the lake and gazed into their reflections in the water.

"Wow, this is so amazing!" Elfilin chirped.

"Poyo!"

Vesa stopped at the base of the stairs leading to the crumbling shrine.

"This land right here is deeply sacred to us," Vesa explained, "while it may have been a tourist attraction, even our government had strict policies so tourists wouldn't desecrate it."

"I wonder about that," Elfilis replied.

Elfilis wasn't sure if that was believable, knowing the scientists at Lab Discovera made them, the first alien life-form they ever encountered, into a tourist attraction. The lab even used their DNA and magic in almost every household appliance they owned. Why would they stop there? Anything that could make money was clearly something they would turn into an attraction. Life was also supposed to be sacred, but they threw it away easily without care to run their tests. Where was the line drawn?

Vesa climbed the stairs to get a closer look to the shrine. She frowned when she noticed the circular pedestal had a large crack and several vines covering it. The statue had plenty of missing sections to the point it barely resembled anyone. A large patch of moss covered the base of the statue like how she noticed moss patches on the stone steps. Sighing, she descended the stairs and made her way back to Elfilis.

"Are you going to be ok?" Elfilis asked.

Vesa nodded.

"I don't think the shrine could hold any offerings anymore," she answered, "but considering even my own people aren't here anymore, I shouldn't be surprised at this point."

"We could construct something similar back home if you'd like?"

"No thanks," Vesa shook her head, "was there something else you wanted to do before we head back to Waddle Dee Town?"

Kirby and Elfilin paused and shifted their gaze to Elfilis.

"Not particularly," they shrugged, "although, I'm currently almost finished with a spell that should reunite all my lost matter. The hard part was excluding my new sibling from this, so I isolated the spell from anything containing a soul. I'm…uncomfortable with the thought of parts of me remaining here."

"Poyo?"

"In that case," Elfilin blushed, "maybe we could find a spot for you to pull off that spell of yours with ease?"

"I doubt it," Elfilis lowered their head, "this planet has no magical hotspots that I can sense. I suppose an area with lots of space would be helpful, though. I must admit I am…afraid of how much I'll find. Of h-how much of me has been stripped away."

"Poyo?"

"Can you hazard a guess?" Elfilis continued, "how much raw material would need to be taken from me, to power the technology of an entire society?"

Vesa glanced down at her own hands. Her mind soon flooded with shame.

"I'm afraid of what I'll find when I use my spell," Elfilis added, "I fear it'll be like a flood of matter and shifting colors. They've incorporated me into practically all of their technology, electricity being a thing of the past, my flesh being made into living batteries."

"Oh, Elfilis," Elfilin whispered.

Kirby noticed as tears welled up in Vesa's eyes.

"Poyo?" Kirby called over, "poyo poyo?"

Vesa lowered her gaze. All the medical equipment she remembered being used on her also came from all the tests and cruel experiments Lab Discovera could ever put Elfilis through.

"I never thought how much I benefited from your own suffering like the rest of my kind did," she confessed.

Vesa hugged her arms to her chest and took a step back.

"I-I'm so sorry, Elfilis," she sobbed, "I should've known better!"

Vesa burst into tears, and Elfilin drooped his ears.

"Y-You couldn't have known," Elfilis tried to assure her, "I doubt such things were made public knowledge. My body is likely a new 'element' that was discovered. Or perhaps they made it sound as if I could create it endlessly in a harmless process of some kind, I'm unsure."

Elfilis zoned out a little while twitching slightly. While Vesa did listen to what they had to say, she still didn't lock eyes onto them.

"I-I should find somewhere to perform the spell," Elfilis stammered.

Elfilin floated over to Vesa and perched on her shoulder, nuzzling her cheek.

"Elfilin?" she paused.

"Maybe don't worry about it too much, ok?" Elfilin tried to advise.

Vesa lifted her head up and scratched behind Elfilin's ears. The small chinchilla purred as he cuddled close to her. Elfilis snapped out of their thoughts and noticed their little brother on her shoulder. Wait, why did they feel jealous? They knew he was comforting her and not doing anything they would consider wrong. This felt confusing. Kirby stepped closer to Elfilis and waved his arm at them just as Vesa wiped her tears with her arm. Elfilis snapped out of their confused thoughts and shifted their gaze towards the pink star warrior, knowing he was just waving at their legs.

"Poyo?" Kirby reminded, "poyo!"

"All right," Elfilis nodded, "did you have a place in mind?"

Kirby nodded before shifting his gaze to Elfilin.

"Poyo!"

Upon cue, Elfilin leapt off Vesa's shoulder and hovered towards Kirby. The pink star warrior raised his arm into the sky and the Warp Star descended from the clouds. Elfilis shyly opened their arms, still feeling rather awkward about not being used to physical contact. Vesa took the hint and embraced herself to them. Kirby and Elfilin climbed aboard the Warp Star. The pink star warrior then launched the Warp Star into the air. Elfilis held Vesa close as they lifted off the ground. Considering the way they carried her with their arms under her legs and her back, she noticed their cheeks tinted a deep red color over their fur.

"Oh?" she pondered to herself.

Still, Elfilis followed the Warp Star as they flew back over the mountains. They backtracked over Winter Horns, Wondaria Remains, Everbay Coast and Natural Plains. Glancing down below, Kirby spotted a nearby skyscraper. Elfilis floated down to the roof, their tail twitching nervously. The Warp Star touched down and Kirby and Elfilin hopped off.

"Are you ready?" Elfilis asked.

Vesa nodded, releasing Elfilis from her embrace. The ultimate life-form initiated the spell, shivering as they felt how much of themself were scattered around. Before long, a large ball of shifting blue, orange and purple mass began to form, quickly dwarfing the size of a small house. Vesa, Kirby and Elfilis glanced upwards, staring in awe.

"Whoa!" Elfilin exclaimed, "that's an awful lot, Kirby!"

"Poyo!" Kirby agreed.

More of the mass started to appear, street lights beginning to flicker and die, buildings having their lights go out…all as Elfilis kept pulling all their DNA out of the technology it was housed inside of. This phenomena caught interest in all of the members of the Beast Pack scattered throughout the land. By the time Elfilis finished in half an hour, the mass became the size of the skyscraper they were currently standing on.

"So now what?" Elfilin clamored.

"I'll put this in my pocket dimension," Elfilis answered, feeling overwhelmed, "I-I think I need to sit down after that."

Granted, the overwhelmed sensation came just from the sheer size and amount of matter that was stripped from them. Vesa sighed and folded her arms behind her back.

"Elfilis?"

"Let me take care of this," Elfilis said softly.

Vesa blinked twice before shifting her gaze towards Kirby and Elfilin.

"I guess we could all head back to Waddle Dee Town," Elfilin shrugged, "I am getting hungry, after all."

"Poyo," Kirby added.

Elfilis finished stashing their mass into their pocket dimension a few more moments later.

"I," Vesa added, "I, too, feel like returning to Waddle Dee Town."

"Very well," Elfilis breathed, "should we fly there, or would you like to just teleport?"

"I think teleportation will do," Vesa answered.

Elfilis locked eyes onto the small chinchilla and the pink star warrior.

"Will you two be coming as well?"

Both Kirby and Elfilin nodded.

"Poyo!"

Elfilis opened a portal which immediately brought everyone on the roof back to Waddle Dee Town. Kirby, Elfilin and Vesa had a hint of green on their faces. Could take them a while to get used to it.
