Ghost obeyed Arizona, though he desperately didn't want to. They didn't have to wait long on the hangar floor for Commander Zavala. He arrived in short time. Ghost hid behind him. Flanking Arizona were two Legionaries, and flanking Caiatl were two Psions. She had understood it from the beginning, if Caiatl fails to find out who took the life of her friend… it would be Arizona's life forfeit. He hated this plan, but he supposed it was the best for his own life. He doubted that Caiatl would easily allow her body to go back to the Tower, however.

"What happened? I thought you said you would protect the Psion, Zavala." Caiatl growled.

Zavala looked at Arizona, then back up at Caiatl. "I truly am sorry for your loss, Caiatl."

"I did not ask for your pity. Need I remind you…"

The legionaries beside Arizona both charged their weapons. Arizona pursed her lips, and closed her eyes, held her breath, waiting for the shots. Ghost had to look away, and listen. He couldn't watch her die. Not again.

"Tell her, Zavala." Behind them Lord Saladin entered with the man he recognized immediately as Crow. Crow, the one who killed Cayde-6 and his ghost. Crow. The one Maria had a crush on during their time at the tower. Crow. The one who killed the Psion.

Crow stepped forward, "It was me. I killed the Psion."

The legionaries lowered their weapons, and Arizona breathed out slowly, a controlled sigh. She would not be killed today.

"Crow," Caiatl looked down at him while Zavala stepped up to be beside her. Ghost came over to Arizona, but she shook her head and nodded toward Lord Saladin. Quickly, he hid behind the Titan. "How do you justify the innocent blood on your hands? It was honorable?"

Crow sighed and looked away, "It was an accident."

"The Cabal word for accident has only two syllables. One is 'fault', the other 'responsibility.'" She turned to Zavala. "Honor the Psion whose life was taken. A life for a life. That is our way."

Zavala turned toward Caiatl, "That's your way. Not ours."

Caiatl seemed to stand larger, and taller, "You will not deny us justice!"

Arizona said, "Commander, we are in the wrong here. Maybe because of that we should respect the way Empress Caiatl would like to handle it." Zavala turned on her, glaring at her again, but she pressed on, "If this were opposite, would you not demand justice for my death? And would you not want it handled in our way?"

Zavala's eyes looked thoughtful, but Ghost really wished Arizona would just shut up and pretend she didn't exist for once! She may claim her and Maria were different, but they were nearly the same in this moment.

Caiatl said, "You should listen to her. She is wise." She turned toward Crow and took a step forward.

"Do what you believe is right," Crow said, "I did." He closed his eyes.

Arizona looked at Ghost with fear in her eyes, and he knew what she was thinking, where was Crow's ghost? He would be in danger if he appeared to revive Crow! Zavala's hands glowed with energy from lightening. Arizona looked like she was gonna be sick. She took a step forward, but one of the legionaries grabbed her arm and prevented her from moving forward. Ghost turned to look for Glint.

"Please, please, let me go, I'm not going to stop Empress Caiatl, I swear." She whispered, but it carried across the tense and silent room.

And then everything stopped, and the tension rose so high that Ghost was afraid to turn around. He turned around still, slowly, and saw Lord Saladin standing in front of Crow, without a trace of fear, looking Caiatl in the eyes.

"I will honor you." He said proudly.

Caiatl towered over the already large man. She bent down, looking him over for any traces of fear, any quiver in his body, any changes in his breath.

"You demand a life for a life. Take mine." Lord Saladin continued without hesitation.

Caiatl knelt, though Ghost suspected it wasn't for respect in the least. "Cabal reward bravery in the face of death. I accept." She stood.

The legionary let go of Arizona, and she looked at Zavala, who's hands still brimmed with electricity. She lifted her hand, but then it felt back to her side. Soon, the lightening subsided. Ghost didn't dare to move.

"Your life is forfeit. You will serve the rest of your days on my War Council…as Bracus Forge."

Lord Saladin nodded at Commander Zavala. "Then it's done." Zavala said with as much poison into the words as possible.

"Zavala, you can't-" Crow started.

"Not. A. Word," he warned as Lord Saladin walked away with Caiatl.

Caiatl stopped near Arizona and turned to her, "As for you, you have served your purpose aboard my ship, but I do expect you to tell me about these memories of yours. I would like to learn more."

Arizona bowed her head, "Of course, Empress Caiatl."

Now Ghost rushed to Arizona, who didn't fall to her knees until the ship had departed. Zavala had long since departed the hangar. "I thought I was going to die…again." She whispered.

Footsteps ran toward them. Arizona and Ghost both looked up to see Fae and Argonaut. Arizona hugged both of them, her whole body shaking. "I'm so glad to see you both."

"We thought you were dead," Fae explained, helping her to stand.

Argonaut's glowing yellow eyes rested on Crow. He stormed over while the girls were busy talking, and he took Crow by the front of the shirt. "Give me one really good reason why I shouldn't throw you out out of the tallest part of the hangar." He growled.

Fae called over, "Put him down, Argonaut! We don't have time to beat him up. You and I have a crucible match to get to, remember?"

Argonaut released Crow, who looked almost displeased that Argonaut had let him down. "You coming to watch, right?" He turned around and asked almost cheerfully.

Ghost watched Crow dust himself off.

"I'll be there a little later, okay? I want to get something to eat first." It was a lie, Ghost knew, but he kept it to himself. They watched the two take off, and Arizona's body shook again. She took several slow deep breaths, closing her eyes as she did.

"I'm sorry," Crow said. Arizona turned to him. "I'm sorry…for…almost getting you killed. It wasn't my intention."

Arizona shook her head. "Enlighten me, what exactly was your intention when you killed the Psion?"

"I didn't mean to," he whispered.

"What exactly were you doing?"

"You don't understand," he snapped, "you weren't there! You didn't see it! The Hive, they weren't dead but they weren't alive either…they were…in like a limbo state! They were hurting!"

"So you hurt our greatest ally instead? By killing her boyfriend?" Arizona ran her hands through her hair and let out a silent scream. "Crow, listen to yourself! I get it, you think you did right, but you nearly threw out months and months of work Zavala had to do to establish an alliance and you…you nearly blew it for everyone!" She shook her head. "And, and, and your ghost! You could've gotten him killed too! Or you could've gotten Ghost killed, you absolute idiot of a Guardian!" She finally took a breath.

"Oh like you wouldn't have done it, Maria?"

Arizona shook her hands, "I am not Maria. I am Arizona. Say it with me because it's a lot of syllables: Ar-i-zon-a." She clapped with each new syllable. "That's me. I am not Maria because she died months and months ago. Okay?" She took another deep breath.

Crow shifted his weight from one foot to the other, "Oh…I'm sorry I didn't…"

"I know, you didn't know. I know. I'm sorry I just…don't do anything stupid like that again. We clear? Yeah?" She stepped back backward, and immediately she was staring at the ceiling and the ground was to her back, and a maniacal laughter was pulled from her chest. Ghost appeared in her vision. "Don't let him touch me. I'll stand when I'm good and ready."

She was not good and ready for several hours.
