CHAPTER 3: Cold pasta

Hi, I'm back with another chapter! Just letting you know I have a tendency to use a lot of different times of day and it can get a little confusing. I just don't like skipping a lot of time lol. Also, the story will get more dramatic with a lot more happening soon. So sorry if you think it's a little wordy with not much happening...

Anyway, thank you for all the readers, favourites, followers and reviews. It means a lot to me. ^^

Enjoy chapter 3! :)

Over 4 hours later, Little Cato finally finished his combat practice. Realizing how hungry he was, he went to the kitchen to check if H.U.E had finished making dinner.

Looking in the fridge, Little Cato saw a carton of milk, a tub of plain pasta and a bowl filled with a purplish liquid. Little Cato decided to ignore the strange liquid and the milk, and grab the pasta. He served himself some and went to heat it up. Little Cato frowned in annoyance as he realized the microwave didn't work.

'I guess I'll just have to have cold pasta.' Little Cato thought to himself feeling too lazy to fix the broken microwave. He sighed and walked to the dining room. There he saw Gary, who was also eating pasta.

"Hi, Thunder Bandit." Little Cato greeted with a grin as he sat down opposite Gary.

"Hey, Hell Cat." Gary replied with a smirk.

Little Cato smiled as he ate a strand of the cold pasta. He made a face as he forced the pasta down his throat. It wouldn't have been so bad if the pasta was hot but right now it tasted disgusting, even worse than the food he'd got in prison! The pasta was undercooked and literally tasted like its only ingredient was salt! With it being cold too, Little Cato decided it was barely edible.

Little Cato watched as Gary pushed his pasta away from himself. "Is yours cold too?" Asked Little Cato, slightly amused by the face Gary was pulling.

"Yeah. It's cold, salty and undercooked! It's fricking inedible!" Gary replied giving the pasta a disapproving frown.

Little Cato nodded in agreement as he pushed his pasta away from himself too. He would rather go without food than have to eat that!

"I wish the S.A.M.E.S were still here. They made good food." Gary stated, still staring at the inedible pasta.

"Yeah. This foods crap." Agreed Little Cato.

There was then a short silence, which Little Cato broke.

"So how was cards with Avocato?" Little Cato asked.

"I won 6 games while he only won 2!" Gary told Little Cato elatedly. Little Cato smirked slightly. Avocato was great at many things but playing cards wasn't one of them.

"Was he annoyed?" Asked Little Cato.

"Slightly." Gary answered egotistically.

Little Cato grinned as he grabbed his bowl of cold pasta and threw out its content. He then brought the empty bowl to the dining room sink. Quickly washing it and leaving it on the rack to dry, Little Cato waved goodbye to Gary.

"See you later." Little Cato said as he left the room.

"Bye." Gary replied as he stood up to throw his food in the bin too.

Around two hours after Quinn left, Ash had decided to have dinner but like Little Cato and Gary, she could only eat a few mouthfuls of it before throwing it out in disgust. Once she got back to her shared room, she was quick to assume Quinn was in a good mood.

"You look happy." Stated Ash with a smirk. "Have you been hanging out with Gary?"

Quinn blushed slightly but nodded.

Quinn looked over at Ash and found she once again had that toy in her hands.

Quinn wasn't the best at understanding romance since it didn't really make much sense to her. She knew she loved Gary but she couldn't really explain why. Sure, he was an amazing person but there was more to it than that.

She was doing a lot of guessing here but it could have not been a coincidence that the toy was made out of Little Cato's fur. Quinn had been drifting around in final space for a long time and she had missed a lot. She literally had only met Ash a few days ago, whereas Little Cato had known her for a few months.

Maybe it was now common knowledge that they liked each other. Although, no one else had mentioned anything like that to her before. Maybe she was just totally wrong.

Quinn was one to cut straight to the point, so she quickly decided she would just ask Ash instead of being left to guess.

"You play with that toy a lot. Correct me if I'm wrong but…Has you playing with that toy, got anything to do with you liking Little Cato?" Quinn questioned watching as Ash's expression instantly changed.

"N-No!" Ash replied immediately, then she covered her mouth as she realized what she'd said. "Wait no, I do like Little Cato! But a-as a friend!" Ash exclaimed heating up.

Quinn raised an eyebrow. She wasn't falling for that!

"Really." Asked Quinn, not at all convinced.

Ash just nodded, not trusting herself to speak. She looked down in an attempt to hide her blush. She couldn't like Little Cato, right? He was just her friend…

Quinn simply shook her head with a smile as she left the room. Just by that, Quinn was almost certain Ash had a crush.

It was past midnight and Little Cato was lying in bed, still wide awake. At first, he had been wondering about how Bolo was going on with his mission to defeat all the other titans but he couldn't prevent his mind from wandering to think about Ash again.

Little Cato sighed. Why couldn't he stop thinking about her?

Little Cato turned around so he was facing the wall as he tried to think of nothing and just fall asleep but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't. To his annoyance, he ended up lying awake for 2 hours before actually falling asleep.
