How far would you go?
.
.
"I love you, Q" Santana smiles, both arms spread across the door frame as she leans in to kiss the blonde once more "Are you sure you can't stay at mine tonight? Pleaseeeeee"
The brunette pouts adorably as the blonde shakes her head, tracing the inside lining of the girl's jacket "You're killing me babe. I really wish I could San but my dad wants to have some kind of family meeting first thing in the morning and wants everyone to come here"
The brunette pouts before nodding "Fine, but you owe me Fabray"
Quinn hits the girl's arm before raising her left hand, wiggling her finger "That's soon to be Lopez to you"
Santana smirks, nodding, "You bet your sweet ass it is. We can tell everyone at the next get together dinner, okay?"
The blonde nods, pulling the other girl in once more. Santana releases a soft exhale against the girl's lips as she backs away "If I don't leave now, I never will. I Love you Q, I'll see you tomorrow, okay?"
"I'll see you tomorrow San, I love you more"
.
"Why can't I just let her go, Rachel? I just want to forget" Santana slurs as she stands from the bar stool
"I know sweetie, come on. Let's go home" Rachel says, placing an arm under her friend's shoulder.
As both girls enter the loft, Santana sits at the counter before reaching for a water bottle.
"You have to stop doing this Santana, it's been five years" Rachel exhales while taking a seat next to her broken friend
"I know Rachel, I just…" She turns away "I miss her so damn much, I can't find a way to get in touch with her to at least know if she's okay...I…"
Rachel rubs her friends back "I know San"
"Thank you for always coming to rescue me, you're a great friend" The brunette hugs the girl before tossing the now empty water bottle into the trash, heading towards her room without another word.
.
.
"Seriously? Miss Lopez please, not today" The security guard huffs, putting his hands out in warning but in true Santana Lopez form, she resists
"Manny is he up there? Let me up, I just need to make sure Quinn is okay and then I'll leave. I promise!"
The guard lowers his com device and motions towards the elevators "Miss Lopez, just like I told you yesterday, the day before that and for the whole the year before that, he isn't here. Judy and Quinn aren't here either. They were rushed out of here under heavy guard in the middle of the night and no one has seen or heard from them since. I shouldn't even be telling you this, the offices are being ran remotely somewhere off the grid but that's all I know, I'm sorry"
Santan nods before putting her head down "I just…."
"I know" The young man embraces the Latina "I'm sorry this happened to you and Quinn, I was really rooting for you two. If I hear anything, you know I'll let you know"
Santana nods, wiping her eyes before turning to leave.
"Thanks. I'll see you tomorrow Manny" She casually says over her shoulder as the man shakes his head
"If I have to see you everyday this week, you better start bringing me coffee or at least clock in!"
She leaves the corporate office feeling defeated. Walking the streets of Manhattan, she smiles sadly at the key still attached to her keychain. Changing her plans for the day, she enters said building. Slowly opening the door she's hit with a familiar perfume and it takes everything inside her to push forward.
Entering the bedroom, her eyebrows furrow. Quinn's phone lays on the nightstand, she decides to attach it to the charger. As she's done a million times, she begins to check the call history atopping on the name she always stops on….Quinn's father. She sits in the bed still holding the phone looking around. Tons of memories flowing, bringing tears to her eyes. She turns off Quinn's cellphone before placing it in the drawer, making sure to leave the light above the stove on, you know, just in case. She slowly closes the door.
"Sorry" She says, waiting for the elevator but not looking up from her phone
"Completely my fault, sorry about that"
Santana looks over and smiles. She takes in the girl and she admits she is beautiful. Had it been any other time or Quinn wasn't in the picture, she'd be all over her. Instead she nods before returning her attention back to her phone.
"You just move in? I haven't seen you before?"
She shakes her head "No. Just visiting actually trying to piece something together but she wasn't home"
"Her loss is my gain. I'm Dani" She extends her hand smiling. "Santana"
"Not to be too forward but here's my number, if you need help piecing anything together or you're just ever in the area or even if you just want to hangout, call me"
Santana accepts the card as the elevator beeps.
"See you around" Dani smiles before walking away leaving a stunned Santana in the elevator.

A Few Days Later
"You know, a friend of mine may be able to help you, San" Britt shrugs, picking at her food.
"Whatever this disease or plague was, everyone thought it would only last a week and after it survived and multiplied for almost five years, the world went crazy. A lot of people were having trouble dealing with the death of loved ones, the loss of life in general, not to mention the complete government shut down that got so bad we couldn't leave our home much less town! You remember how scary it was, they're barely starting to feel comfortable allowing international flights and travel again. Anyways, He built a machine that could erase memories and has been conducting studies down at the college, making sure it all works properly before he goes global"
Santana looks up from her cup of coffee "Seriously a study, that people can volunteer for? Wait, does this machine wipe specific memories or does it wipe everything because I don't want to lose all my memories, Britt"
The blonde shakes her head "Eventually that might be an option but for now it's just the ones you choose San, you have to think of the certain memory when he connects the machine and by the time you're done….poof, it's forgotten. Pretty cool huh?"
"Now hang on just a minute" Rachel interrupts "I understand that you're heartbroken Santana but is that something you really want to do? I mean, is it safe? I do not want anything to happen to you"
The brunette smiles, genuinely touched by her friends concern for her "I love you too, Rach"
The sudden confession surprises the shorter brunette as she takes a seat next to Santana
"I get it Santana but Quinn has to be just as heartbroken. Wherever she is, I'm sure she didn't choose to up and leave her life, shouldn't she have the chance to explain what happened before you commit to this? Are you sure you want to forget everything the two of you had so quickly?"
Santana nods "It might not even work Rachel, Britt said Mike's still in the beginning phases. I don't know what else to do. You know I would have gone anywhere and done anything but it's been years and no one has heard from her. What if she's moved on and has a family of her own or even worse….I just don't want to feel this way anymore and if Mike can help me deal, why not?"
"Can we go with her, Brittany? Just to make sure she'll be okay?"
The blonde nods reaching for her phone "Normally probably not but since I know Mike, I'll ask"
Rachel turns back to her friend who is idly stirring her coffee, staring off into space
.
"San!" The blonde half giggles and half yells, as she's twirled in the air "Everyone is looking!"
"Like I give a shit let them look. Fuck I've missed you Q" Santana smiles into the girls neck giving the blonde more quick exaggerated pecks before setting her down.
The blonde reaches up and caresses the girl's cheek "I've missed you too San, but it's all over and I'm here now, for good"
The brunette leans back from the embrace, gazing into the beautiful hazel eyes that make her heart skip. They've waited months for this moment, when both girls were finally finished with college so could finally live together, full time.
The Fabrays were not happy about the pairing in the beginning but once her father ran a full background check and they realized how serious the relationship really was, they eventually started to come around. Santana smiles reaching for the girl's luggage as they make their way back to the loft.
Little did they know a few years later, everything would come crashing down.
.
"I have to do something, Rach these memories won't stop" Santana finally says still staring off "I can't feel so helpless anymore" The girls eyes begin to water before she turns back towards her friend "I won't survive it much longer"
The confession stuns both girls as they exchange a quick look before turning back to Santana.
"Have either of you ever loved someone so….intensely? With literally every fiber of your being. Your heart beats for them and only them. We promised to do this life together"
She laughs bitterly, tossing the spoon into the sink "I had just asked her to marry me too….."
Both girls gasp as they release a collective "What?"
Santana smiles at the memory, nodding, "The night before she disappeared, we were at Tony's for dinner for date night. She just looked so damn beautiful like she always does and I just..." The brunette laughs sadly at the memory "Said it, I said marry me"
"San" Brittany says wiping her eyes "I'm so sorry, we didn't know"
Santana smiles "No one did Britt Britt, we wanted to keep it to ourselves for a little bit. We had planned on telling everyone at the next the dinner"
Both friends nod in understanding wiping their eyes
"That's why I had to pick you up later that night" Rachel nods, finally understanding
"Mike said Rachel and I can be there and he can get you in tomorrow if you want"
Without hesitation the brunette nods "I do, thank you guys"
