Storm's P.O.V
I sighed yet again for what felt like the 20th time that day. My parents were arguing. Again. I hated when they got like this, it made me feel unsafe and afraid for my life.
"Hey mom?" I called out in an attempt to breakup the ear-splitting shriek of my parents voices.
No answer.
"Hey mom? Dad?
Yet again, no response answered my desperate pleas.
This time, I tried a different approach. If saying 'mom' and 'dad' wouldn't get there attention... maybe saying their names will!
"Hey Everest and Hurricane!"
Not even calling them by their first names made them stop shouting at each other.
Well, ok then, I told myself. If they're not going to stop, then I'm just gonna leave.
And with that thought in mind, I quietly excised the room and packed what few things I had in a small brown satchel.
Once that was done, I wrote them a a quick farewell note.
Dear Mom and Dad,
I know your both trying your best to raise me, but I can tell that losing my sister, Moon, was really hard on the both of you. I love you both with all of my heart, but I have to go, I don't feel safe here anymore.
I don't mean in any way to break your already fragile hearts, but until you two can find your connection again, I must stay away. Please don't be mad, I'm doing this for you, I'll be back someday, I promise.
~Storm
My eyes began to fill with tears as I sighted my name in light blue ink. Folding up the peace of paper, I carefully set it on my desk and turned to the clear open sky.
Before I could change my mind, I speed my wings wide and leaped into the air, not looking back as I flew into the unknown.
...
"Oh for the love of night furies!" I cursed under my breath. "Why did I chose to leave home right when a storm was headed this way!"
Shaking my wings free of the frigid water droplets, I narrowed my eyes in an attempt to see in the midst of rain and wind blasting me right in the face.
Note to self, never ever go flying when you know that a storm is coming! I groaned and shifted my focused on keeping my wings moving so I wouldn't go plummeting down to the ground headfirst.
"Oh shoot!" I cursed as I dove and weaved my way around a large sea stack. "That was too close for comfort."
After that near-death experience with that giant sea stack, I soon made the smart choice and decided to find a nice, warm and dry sheltered place to sleep in for the night.
It took a bit of searching, but I eventually found a small cave to stay in for the night. And much to my delight, it was nice and dry.
Smiling happily to myself, I shook what water drops still clung to my body and curled up in a pile of leaves.
Before I let sleep take me over, I had one last thought on my mind.
I'll stay here for the night and continue my journey tomorrow. With that final thought in mind, I smiled and let my eyes slip shut and fell asleep listing to the howling wind outside.
