Shiki Held Mr. Mew close to her as she sat on the bench next to Hachiko. She looked around anxiously as she waited for Neku to arrive. She was nervously running her hands through her hair, attempting to fix tiny imperfections only she would notice. She had already reunited with Neku, but that was alongside Beat and Rhyme, and they were meeting as friends. This meeting, however, was different.

"Why did I call this a date? I don't even know if he's looking for that kind of relationship. Would he even want to be with me?" These thoughts bounce around in Shiki's mind, so much so that she doesn't even notice when Neku finally arrives.

"Hey Shiki, Sorry if I kept you waiting," said Neku, catching Shiki by surprise.

"O-oh! Hi Neku! It's alright." Said Shiki, quickly changing her demeanor to hide her nervousness. Shiki's heart beats faster and faster as Neku sits beside her.

"This place sure brings back memories. Even if not all of them are good." Neku said as he thought of the three weeks he spent in the UG.

"You say that like it's been a while," Shiki said jokingly.

"Yeah, I guess it has only been a few weeks huh?" Said Neku.

"Mhm, but I get what you mean. This dog statue sure had a surprising impact on us," said Shiki. "I'm glad we finally got to come together here, just the two of us."

"Yeah. . ." Neku said, looking toward the ground. Shiki looked over at him, the expression on his face said it all.

"Are you thinking about it again?" she asked. Neku nodded, not looking her in the eyes. "Neku. . . It wasn't your fault, you were tricked. . ." Shiki reassured him, but he shook his head.

"No. . . that's not true. I let myself get tricked because I wanted a way out. I nearly erased you for my own gain. How am I supposed to live with that?" Shiki was stunned by this sudden outburst of self disdain. "I nearly erased the person most precious to me Shiki, I almost erased you . . . I. . ." Shiki watched as Neku lost himself in his guilt. Neku snapped out of his guilt-ridden episode when he felts Shiki rest her head on his shoulder.

"I'm here for you Neku. . . I'll say it as many times as I need to. I forgive you." Neku fell to silence. He had no response. " I trust you Neku, not just as your partner, but more than that." Neku finally smiled again. He closed his eyes and rested his head against Shiki's

"Thank you, Shiki." The two sat there together, not a word between them. Much time passed before one of them spoke again.

"You want to go anywhere? We've spent our entire date with Hachiko so far," said Neku. Shiki merely giggled.

"I think I want to stay here like this. . . just a little longer," said Shiki, Neku smiled, and nodded, before closing his eyes again and resting alongside the person most precious to him. He was happy, and that made Shiki happy, and that whole time, Shiki hadn't even noticed her heart had calmed.
