Neku double-checks that he has everything he needs. Flowers, his wallet, his phone, and Shiki's gift. Well, it's less of a gift and more of an offer

"Is it too soon to do this? Would she even want to-" Neku's thoughts are cut off, however, as the sound of the doorbell ringing "She's here!"

Neku runs to the front door and opens it. In front of him stands Shiki. She's forgone her usual attire, instead choosing to wear a green and white dress. Nothing fancy, but pretty nonetheless. Neku doesn't even know what to say, he was in awe.

"Neku? Are you alright?" Neku snaps back to reality

"Sorry- I just. . . You look amazing." Shiki's face turns slightly pink at this, She's not used to him being so forward, but she likes it.

"T-thanks. You don't look bad yourself," says Shiki. Neku scratches the back of his neck and avoids eye contact.

"Thanks." He had some help from his mother picking out the right clothes. Normally he'd ask Shiki for help, but he wanted to keep every aspect of their date a surprise. Neku welcomes Shiki into his apartment and guides her to the table where their meal had already been prepared. Neku wasn't much of a chef, but he tried his hardest to make something Shiki would like, and it seems like he was successful.

"This is amazing! I didn't know you could cook." Says Shiki in awe at the taste of the meal. Neku lets out a nervous laugh.

"Heh, It took some practice, but I like how it came out. More importantly, I'm glad you like it." The pair finish their meal, and before continuing their date, Neku reveals his first gift, a bouquet of roses.

"Neku. . . You didn't have to do that," says Shiki, her face flushed

"Yeah, but seeing you smile makes it worth it." Neku offers Shiki his hand, and the two exit the apartment hand in hand. They walk through the Shibuya district together. Even at night, the streets are crowded, but even with all the people, the two find themselves focusing only on their worlds, on each other.

"I woke up in the UG right here, five years ago," says Neku as they cross the scramble crossing.

"Time sure flies, the game was awful, but coming back and being with you, it made it all worth it," says Shiki, tightening her grip on Neku's arm for a moment.

"I couldn't agree more." the two walk further and further, passing by the statue of Hachiko on their way. They briefly rub Hachiko's paw as they pass by the familiar location, remembering the day they finally reunited after they were freed from the Reaper's Game. They continue on their walk until they reach the station underpass.

"This brings back memories," Shiki says as she looks around the familiar location. It seems they're the only ones there at that moment. "This is where we beat the game master, and where we woke up on the second day, just before meeting Beat and Rhyme."

"Yeah. . ." Neku can't help but think of the end of the seventh day. "But it's also where I lost you. . ."

"Neku. . ." Shiki tries to comfort him, but Neku keeps going.

"I was scared, scared that you would be erased, that your victory would be snuffed by my mistakes." Neku takes a few deep breaths to calm himself down. "That fear was the one thing that kept me going on that second week. I- I don't think I could go through that again."

"Neku. . ." Shiki tightens her grip on Neku's hand and leans against him slightly. "It's alright Neku. We're out of the game now. You won't need to go through that ever again." To Shiki's surprise, however, Neku lets go of her.

"I don't think you understand." Neku turns to face her and looks her in the eyes. "I don't want to go a day without you Shiki. I. . . I want to live the rest of my life with you." Shiki gasps

"Is he really-" Shiki thinks to herself, not wanting to get her hopes up. But Neku gets down on one knee and pulls out his last gift, his offer. Shiki's eyes begin to water as he opens the small box, revealing a beautiful diamond ring.

"Shiki. . . Will you marry me?" Shiki laughs and cries with joy, she doesn't know how to react.

"Yes. . . Yes!" Shiki wraps her arms around Neku as she leaps onto him. The two embrace each other tightly, neither wanting to let go of the other. Shiki offers Neku her hand, which he takes, he slips the ring onto her fourth finger. The pair get onto their feet and share a kiss with one another. Upon ending their kiss, Neku and Shiki Sakuraba leave the underpass hand in hand, ready to face the future, together.
