Chapter 3~ Return to the Black Pearl
Water...I could feel water surrounding me. Was I dead? Where was I? I was afraid to open my eyes and look. What had happened to me? The last thing I remembered was...Jack...Jack Sparrow! That son-of-a-bitch! What had he done to me? I decided I had to know. I slowly opened my eyes and saw that I was in a cell...and I was sitting on a floor covered in water, which was rocking back and forth. Wait...rocking? "Where the hell-SHIT!" I knew where I was. I was in the brig of the Black Pearl!
"How did I get here?" I asked no one in particular.
"We brought you here," a voice said. When I turned to look through the bars, I saw Will standing there with a tray of bread and water. "We should be on the Bleeding Heart...and Jack's supposed to be down here! Will, where's Chris? What's going-?"
"QUIET!" he shouted, "I know you're mad that you're here, but I just couldn't let you hurt Jack. You wouldn't even let him finish his sentence."
"He lied to me about everything! Why should I trust him?"
"Because I'm the one who has you locked up," Jack's voice interrupted. I looked to the stairs and saw Jack standing there with the keys in his hands. "Let me out!" I shouted as I stood up and waded over to the door. My dress was wearing me down, but I kept a firm stance. I gripped the square steel bars and began pulling as hard as I could. "Get me outta here!"
"I don't think so, Morgan," Jack replied.
"That's Captain Morgan to you!" Jack raised his hands as if in defeat. I raised an eyebrow and then shook my head. Sparrow was such an idiot. "Okay...CAPTAIN Morgan," he began, "You are not going to leave this cell until my command, savvy? Not like you could leave anyway. Let's go, Will...we have to sail to the Pearl," he said as he motioned Will out of the brig via the stairs. "YOU BASTARDS! I'LL GET YOU BOTH FOR THIS!" I shouted as I pounded on the bars.
Obviously they weren't coming back. Damn it! I sat down in the shallow water and pulled my knees up to my chest. What did I do wrong? How could I have been caught? I was Captain Morgan Kelly for God's sake! I definitely wasn't going to take this shit.
I stood up and began to look around the cell. There was nothing in here but me...and water. I looked at the cell I was in and then realized this was the cell Jack had been in during the battle between the Black Pearl and the Interceptor. I turned around and noticed a fresh piece of wood over a part of the hull. "That's it!" I exclaimed. I quickly knelt down in front of it and ran my fingers over the wood. This was too perfect to be true. It was my way out. Thank you battle!
"Come on...come on!" I almost yelled as I began to pull on the wood. It wasn't budging. This was starting to piss me off. "This sucks," I muttered, "This should not be this hard..." After one more tug, the wood came flying off. A large smile crossed my face. Finally things were looking up. I knelt down in front of the hole and pulled back a loose piece.
It looked to be just the right size for my body to squeeze out. I eyed it carefully and then looked behind me. No one was in the brig. "This is it," I muttered. I peeked my head out the hole to see the waves crashing against the side of the ship...only a few feet below me. "I can do this...I can do this," I whispered to myself as I reached my hand out and grabbed onto the ship firmly. I then turned my body around and grabbed on with my other hand.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Oh my God," I muttered to myself as I clung to the ship for dear life. Thank the Lord there were places to hold on to, though they were slippery from the water that lay below. What was I thinking? Climbing the side of the Black Pearl? I must have been crazy...but I didn't care anymore. I had to get out of that damn cell. I finally found another hole in the side of the ship and stuck my foot in as I pulled myself up the rest of the way.
My eyes looked over the rail of the Pearl, but no one was there. That was just plain creepy. Whenever I had been on this ship there were ALWAYS people on deck. Oh well. I swung my legs over the side and felt the hard wood below my feet. It felt so good to stand again. Hanging was something I didn't particularly enjoy. It wasn't fun...especially in the whore's dress.
"Aye, that's right. She's in the brig!" I heard Will yell. I quickly ducked underneath the stairs that were next to the Captain's cabin and hid behind some large crates. "The Captain got Kelly all locked up! Not possible right?" I recognized that voice...and it was a woman's. I spotted the entire crew. They all walked up the stairs and went back to their duties. Anamaria was going on about how shocked she was that Jack caught me. I would have loved to run up to her and give her a good punch, but that would just cause me more trouble. I already had plenty.
When no one was looking, I slowly crept out from my hiding place and began to walk toward the Captain's cabin. Thankfully, the crew was concentrated on their work and they didn't notice me. I sighed as I stepped into the cabin and shut the door. I made it! I felt like dancing. I suddenly felt the cold steel of a knife against my throat and gasped. "Only an hour," Jack said as he pressed the weapon slightly harder against my neck, "I would have expected much more from you."
"Just doing my job, Sparrow," I retorted. I then felt a hand glide down my arm and rest on my waist. "And what would that be?" he asked huskily in my ear. I immediately elbowed him in the stomach and slipped out of his grasp, turning to face him. "To be a pirate!" I yelled.
"Hm...well...ye look the part...ye act the part...but you're not, Captain Kelly," he said as he placed the knife on the table behind him and took a seat. I crossed my arms as he propped his feet up on the table and gave me a cheeky grin. I wanted to slap him that minute. He was such a jerk. "What do you mean I'm not a pirate?" I asked harshly.
"If ye were a pirate, you wouldn't have been caught by me so easily," he replied with a charming "Jack Sparrow smile".
"Well, excuse me!" I yelled as I walked over to a cabinet and pulled out a bottle of rum. As I uncorked it and took a sip, I heard him cry in protest. "Don't touch that!" he shouted.
"Whatever," I mumbled as I took another gulp, letting the burning liquid run down my throat. I had grown accustomed to rum...and I liked it. I suddenly felt the bottle get ripped from my hands and then saw Jack clutching it as if it were his life. "What's with you?" I asked.
"Ye NEVER touch CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow's rum unless he offers it to ye, savvy?"
"Okay then...may I please have some rum then, CAPTAIN Sparrow?" A coy smile crossed his lips. "Of course, love," he replied as he handed me the bottle. I immediately took another sip and downed about half the bottle. "Ye may not be much of a pirate, but ye sure as hell drink like one," Sparrow said as he sat back down as he did before.
"What do you expect? I'm the Captain of my own ship, asshole!"
"Honestly, love...you really should watch your language. You are after all a lady."
"I thought pirates were dishonest...and you want to watch out for the honest ones," I interrupted with a smirk as I finished off the bottle.
"Ye must have heard of my adventure six years ago with Will, eh?" I smiled slightly, but quickly masked my emotions. Did I remember it? No...I just have that nice scar on my shoulder for nothing. Problem is, I couldn't tell him who I was. I don't even think he remembered me. "Of course I know of it. But that's because I've traveled so much. If I had just stayed in one place, I wouldn't even know who you are."
"Well, love...all I know of ye is that ye became a captain when ye were only seventeen and that ye seemed to have appeared from nowhere." I knew it! He didn't even recognize the woman he supposedly "loved". I didn't care that he didn't love me anymore. All I wanted was revenge. Maybe I could get my revenge here on the Black Pearl. "By the way, Sparrow...who the fuck knocked me out yesterday?"
"Turner did, lass...kind of funny." I gave him an evil smile and then strode out of his cabin. As I walked out onto the deck, the crew's eyes all turned to me. I didn't feel any anger toward them. They had done nothing wrong. I noticed that Anamaria was glaring at me, but I ignored her. "Okay, where's Turner?" I yelled.
"Right here," Will said as he emerged from the crew. I motioned for him to come closer, which he reluctantly did. "Closer," I said calmly. The blacksmith shrugged and came within a few feet of me. I sweetly placed my hands on my hips and walked as close as I could to him. "So, Mr. Turner...you're the one who knocked me out last night?" I asked as I smirked.
"That's right. I couldn't let you hurt Jack like that. You wouldn't even let him finish-OW!" he screamed as my fist collided with his jaw and knocked him back a few feet. When I went to take another swing, my wrist was grasped by a firm, calloused hand. Once I looked up, I saw Jack holding me, his face stern and his dark gaze trying to pierce my soul. "That's not very nice, love. Will didn't do anything wrong, did he?"
"That whelp turned on me!" I shouted as I pulled out of Jack's grip and raised my fists. This pirate had pushed me one step too far. He was going to pay for this one day. Maybe that day was today. The entire crew began laughing hysterically. They all stopped when Jack's face softened and he walked back into his cabin. "What?" I asked as I looked at all of them.
"You're so much like her," Gibbs stated.
"Like who?" I asked. Everyone was deathly silent. A little too creepy for my liking. What were they so shocked about? It made no sense to me. It wasn't like they remembered me. Only Will did...no one else. "Like who?" I asked again as I let my arms drop to my sides.
"Everyone back to work!" Gibbs ordered. The crew gave a loud "AYE" and then went back to their duties. I carefully eyed them and crossed my arms. What was going on?
