Chapter 5~ Cat Versus Mouse
Jack unsheathed his sword and pointed it at my chest. "Tell me or I'll drive this blade through you!" he ordered.
"Not gonna happen, Sparrow. You don't scare me," I retorted as I raised my fists. I wasn't about to get into a swordfight with Jack and kill him. I wanted to torture him...not kill him...at least until the opportune moment. "Have it your way then, love," he said as he swung his blade at me. I ducked below it and kicked him in the stomach, knocking him back a few feet. Jack only glared at me and charged again.
At lighting speed, I moved back and then did a front flip over his head, landing softly on my feet behind him. When I heard people coming down the stairs, I began to run down a hall. There was no way I was going to be outnumbered. I darted into the crew's quarters and shut and locked the door behind me. "Where am I gonna go?" I asked myself.
"Love, get out of there! You can't hide!" I heard Jack scream from the other side as he pounded forcefully on the door. I backed up against a wall and then looked up. "The secret door to Will's room," I whispered as I jumped up and pulled on the string from the ceiling. A rope ladder fell from the trapdoor and I climbed it as fast as I possibly could. As I pulled myself up, I could hear Jack making the attempt to break down the door. "Come on, love...ye have nowhere to go!" he shouted.
"Wanna bet?" I asked as I reached Will's quarters. I quickly pulled the ladder up and shut the trap door. "Phew," I muttered, "He'll never find me here."
"Who won't?" a calm voice asked from behind me. I completely froze. I was busted by someone and was afraid to look. "What are you doing in my cabin, Nat?"
"The name's Morgan!" I almost yelled as I turned around, "You know that, Will!"
"What's going on?" he asked. I quickly ran to his door and peeked out. No one was on deck and I gave a sigh of relief as I locked it quietly. "Jack's really pissed," I said as I looked at him, "And the rest of the crew is with him. He's gonna kill-"
"Shh!" I was silenced by Will's hand cupped over my mouth and his other hand gripping my shoulder. "Calm down, Nat...Morgan. He's not going to expect you to come in here."
KNOCK!
I turned to face the door and then clung to Will like glue, wrapping my arms around him like I used to when I was terrified.
KNOCK!
My breathing began to get heavier. Jack was on the other side of that door with his crew behind him. I was screwed either way.
KNOCK!
I watched as Will looked frantically around the room and then ran to his dresser. He pulled out a whore's dress and threw it onto the floor. "Quickly," he whispered, "Mess up your hair and hide in the bed. I'll take care of Jack." I could only nod. As I climbed under the covers and messed up my hair, I heard someone pound on the door. "Will, open this damn door!"
"In a minute, Jack!" he shouted as he unbuttoned his shirt and messed up his hair. I turned my back to the door and made it look like I was asleep, keeping the covers up over half of my face. I then closed my eyes tight as I heard Will open the door. "Turner, what have ye been doing in here?" Jack asked, "Ye look like you've been with a whore."
"That's because I have, Jack," he replied. My breathing began to become more rapid as I felt eyes staring at my body. I didn't know what was happening behind me...and a part of me didn't want to know. "When did ye get this whore here? We've been at sea for a day or so," Jack said.
"Well...I...I snuck her on when you weren't looking, Captain. I didn't want you to have all the fun," Will replied. What shocked me more than anything was that Will was helping me get through this. He was protecting me. I suddenly felt the bed shift slightly. Someone was sitting on it! "Ye snuck her in, did ye?" I heard Jack ask as a hand touched my bare shoulder. Luckily I had moved my shirt down on that shoulder. "Then ye wouldn't mind if I gave her a go, Will...would ye?" he asked.
"Well...I...I don't know, Jack. I'll have to ask her about it when she wakes up."
"Wake her up then," Jack pressed.
"Let her sleep, Jack. She needs her rest, ye know." I was praying to God that Jack would just leave right then. I didn't like the idea of him touching me. It utterly disgusted me. Before I knew it, I felt the bed shift and I heard the door slam shut. It was pure silence. A smile crossed my lips and I opened my eyes. "Will, are they gone?" I asked, "Will?" He didn't answer me and I figured he left with the crew. When I sat up and faced the door, I jumped back in shock. Will was gagged and being held by the crew, while Jack was standing over the bed. "I guess you've been playing with Will?" he asked.
"No, I was hiding in here...look!" I shouted as I threw the covers off. I was fully clothed so that had to have been enough evidence for the bastard. "Whatever ye say, love," he said huskily as he grabbed both of my arms firmly. I began to kick and scream, but no avail. I felt like a young child acting this way. I really didn't have a choice though, did I? "Shut ye mouth, love!" he ordered as he held me down against the bed. I quickly kicked one of my legs up and hit him in the head. Can you say flexible?
I jumped up onto my feet, which was rather difficult considering I was still standing on the bed. "KELLY!" Jack shouted as he clutched his head in pain and glared daggers at me. I quickly jumped over his head and landed on the floor. When I looked at him, he had his pistol pointed at me and was standing unsteadily on his feet. As I slowly began to reach for my gun, I felt the point of a blade against my back. "Don't do it, lass," Gibbs said as he dug the sword against my back. Luckily he didn't draw blood.
I hesitantly let my arms drop to my sides and I felt the sword leave my back. A sigh of relief crept over me and I felt relaxed for a moment until I felt the barrel of Jack's gun against my temple. "To me cabin, love. We need to have a word," he ordered as he back to take steps toward me.
He backed me out the door of Will's cabin and up a small set of stairs. Why was I obeying Jack Sparrow? He had a stupid pistol at my head! Damn idiot! I was going to murder him after this. As soon as we had reached his cabin, he locked the door behind him and walked past me, taking a seat at the table and propping his feet up. I had picked up that habit from him. We were silent for a few moments until he spoke up. "Why are ye disobeying me orders, love? I'm holding ye hostage and you're gonna do as I say from now on, savvy?"
"Why would I ever want to listen to you? You're such a jackass!"
"Watch what ye say to me, love. After-"
"You are not to call me 'love'!" I shouted, "You don't mean it...so don't!" I watched as Jack's kohl-rimmed eyes widened and he stood up. "What?" I asked.
"Repeat what ye said," he said gently as he walked around the table toward me.
"Why?"
"Just do it," he ordered.
"Okay...what I said was..." I trailed off when I realized what I had said. I had told him that the night we attacked Isla de Muerta! It was when he and I were really falling in love. Crap! "Well?" he asked. I knew I had to come up with something and fast! There was no way I was going to tell him the truth about who I was. "I...well...I don't remember what I said. Sorry about that."
"I think ye know what ye said...and I need to hear it," he said as he took a few more steps in my direction. I backed up instinctively and ended up against the door within a few seconds with him advancing like a predator on prey. "I said nothing of importance," I said quickly as I pushed passed him and walked over to his table. I looked over the maps carefully and noticed that a small heart was drawn next to Port Royal. I ran my fingertips over the heart and smiled. "What's this?" I asked.
"That's where I met the girl o' me dreams," Jack said as he walked over and hovered over my shoulder, pressing his chest against my back. "She was beautiful," he whispered.
"And what happened to her?" I asked hesitantly.
"I left her in Tortuga one night." I felt anger rise within my entire being. Jack freely admitted that he left me. Much more of a reason to torture and kill him. I masked my emotions as fast as I could and then walked around the table, running my hands across the maps. I didn't notice at the time, but he was watching my every move...my every intake of breath.
When I looked at him, he was stroking his goatee and studying me. "What the hell are you looking at?" I asked harshly.
"Now, now, don't be so cruel to ol' Jack, love. He's never done anything wrong to ye." That was total bullshit. "You only kidnapped me!" I shouted back, leaving out the fact that he had also ditched me in Tortuga.
"Ye were the one who came after me, love. All I did was protect meself." I groaned and kicked the leg of the table and then went back to the door. When I turned the knob, I remembered that it was locked and kept pulling. I was not going to be locked in a room with Jack Sparrow. "Easy now, love," I heard him say as he caressed my shoulders. I shrugged his hands off and ran to the window. "You will not touch me!" I shouted as I took out my sword and held the handle firmly.
"Morgan, I wasn't planning on bedding ye. I just enjoy our little game of cat and mouse-"
"In which case you are the mouse!" I interrupted angrily.
"So now ye want me?" he asked huskily.
"You are so despicable. So help my God, if you ever touch me again...I'll-"
"I know, love...you'll kill me. Now, all I want you to do is stay in here for a while. I need to go and have a word with the crew, savvy? Can you do that?" I nodded as I watched him turn around and walk out the door calmly like nothing had happened. Why was I listening to him? He was a sick man who knew nothing of anyone's feelings but his own. Maybe it was just because I didn't want to fight...I wasn't sure. I slowly walked over to his bed and sat down. It was as comfortable as I remembered it and I needed sleep. "He won't mind," I mumbled as I lay my head back on the pillow and drifted off into a deep sleep.
