A/N: I have no idea what this is. It came out. I have no idea what the back story is or why Jess is still in NYC. I don't know when it takes place. Tell me how much it sucks, because it's very corny, but I'm stuck at home sick and can barley get out of my bed, so I needed entertainment. It will eventually be a story.

How did we get here? How the hell? Rory Gilmore thought, sitting on the filthy sidewalk outside of Jess's New York City apartment. She believed she'd hit an al-time low.

Jess's words rung out from all sides - screaming at her, witnessing her every movement. She never knew he could be so cold. "Get out! Get out!" he'd nearly yelled at her. "You expected me to wait for you, but I'm sick of playing your little games. I'm done! Get out! You're not my Rory!"

His words had had more impact on her than he had expected them to. She didn't argue, she just gave him a cold-as-ice look and stormed out. He had the power to control her.

She looked up at his frosted window, seeing the etched shadows on his face. He was barley an echo of who he used to be. The city life had hardened him permanently. He didn't need her anymore.

He watched her stand up, gathering her purse and slipping her coat further up on her shoulders. She glanced back at him once, for a long moment, watching him watch her. She finally turned to walk away, turning back just long enough for him to mouth "Goodbye, love," and stepped back away from the winter air.

This chapter of his life was over. Goodbye, love.
