Chapter 208 Fight
They ignored the smaller 'puddles' and concentrated on those that were over six feet since that was how big the previous Enochian had been. They could see the next terrain change in the distance and feeling less than hopeful when Dean felt he needed to stop. The last few feet had felt like he was walking through Shelob's web, he was being pulled back. The others stopped and watched as Dean almost tripped then turned and walked back the way he had come. He walked to the left of where he had passed before and found the spell. He called out. "Over here."
They formed a circle around the lava puddle. The words we just sticking out.
"Let's remove the lava to make it easier." They stepped back so that Ramiel could levitate the liquid and toss it over the sand.
"Okay, it's all yours, Dean."
They all moved back further and Dean fired the launcher. When the smoke cleared there wasn't much of the words left. They were shredded but still there. It looked like strings of clear jelly.
"One more do you think?" Asked Cain.
"Maybe one or two more." Sighed Asmodeus.
"I think so to." Ramiel tapped the letters with his dagger and they split further.
Dean led the way in the direction they were headed before they stopped, keen to get off the hot ground, but it was two hours before the ground started to change enough to be clear of the sand. Dean was soaked through but happy there had been no monsters to fight. While they were scuffing through the sand Dean tried to mentally tell Sam he was okay. He felt a little dizzy as he concentrated and hoped he had got through to him. He was missing him as much as he thought he would. When he wasn't fighting for his life he was concerned about Sam. No doubt he would be fighting hard to protect the gate with the other hunters. Hopefully the angels would help out but he knew how focused they could be. He knew he was Michaels connection to what was going on in here but so far he figured Michael was only concerned about the spell being broken. Dean knew he had to stay focused in here but to him his focus was sharper when he knew Sam was out there waiting for him.
The new surface was back to very similar to when they had first entered except it was raining and there were frequent lightning strikes but weirdly no thunder. They gathered in a group under the cover of a boulder of which there were groups of here and there.
"Well, there is plenty of earth here if Dean's theory is correct." Cain said loudly over the rain and lightning hitting the ground. "It's going to be harder with this lightning. More of Lucifer's games I'd say. The next one must be around here somewhere."
"It's going to be hard in this weather to see each other, especially Dean. If he gets stuck by lightning he might be killed." Said Ramiel.
"I might be able to reduce it a little." Asmodeus stated. "I have a spell against this sort of thing. No idea if it will work here, but I'll see what I can do."
"Just be careful, if Lucifer created this storm, he may have a seal on it." Ramiel advised.
Asmodeus went out into the fast falling rain and the others watched from the rocks. Over the next twenty minutes the rain lightened up a little and the lighting was less frequent and didn't pack the punch it had. They gathered again as a group and continued north with Dean at the centre of the pack so they could keep an eye out. Dean walked with his sword out expecting anything out here. He was feeling very tired and wasn't sure how many days had passed while they were in here. There was no sun or moon and what light there was didn't change much. The only tell he had was the hair on his face. He scrubbed a hand over his chin, defiantly more than four days growth.
Over the next few hours they fought vampires, banshee, chupacabras, and leviathans working like a well-oiled machine. Cain was using a spell that worked like a machine gun and was flattening the monsters for the others to finish off. They were doing better with hand held weapons than they were with spells. He could tell the knight and princes were frustrated at having to go hand to hand since they probably hadn't had to for so long. Dean was surprised at his own energy levels since he had been here. His body felt lighter the longer he was moving and certainly the fighting was exhausting him but he was recovering in between kills like never before. He felt like someone was refuelling him like lives from a video game.
The ground was growing rockier the more they moved on whilst fighting. The same flat landscape that would depress the sunniest being in the world. Dean had just dispatched a vampire when he realized it had been running away not trying to kill him. It had seemed surprised he was there. It happened twice more then there was nothing. Dean hated to admit it but the lack of creatures was worrying him after so many. Just as he thought that a vampire almost ran into him holding its head on his neck with both hands. There was blood at the throat and a terrified look on his face.
Dean turned to Cain at his left.
"What the fuck?" He mouthed.
Cain merely shrugged and gestured with his hands up, no idea.
He checked the ground for tracks but in the water soaked earth could only came up with rectangular marks like a large block had stomped the earth. He scratched his head as he moved around some huge boulders with Cain on his heels and stopped in his tracks.
"Oh shit. Gogmagog."
