After Kenny and Wendy talked Kenny took Wendy home. "I would hang out later, but I open at the coffee shop tomorrow." He explained as he pulled up to Wendy's house.

Wendy smiled, "Maybe we could do something after you get off work." She suggested as she opened her door. A cold gust of wind and snow-filled the car.

"Yeah," Kenny smiled back, "I'll text you."

"Be careful driving home. The roads are getting bad." Wendy closed the door and pulled her coat tightly around her. She hurried onto her front porch and waved goodbye to Kenny. She saw him light a cigarette before he drove off into the darkness.

Wendy pushed open her front door and found her mother standing on the other side, with her hands on her hips. Wendy held in a groan, she was not in the mood for a lecture right now.

"Wendy, why are you sneaking around to see that boy?" Her mom asked her very plainly. Wendy couldn't tell if she was angry or not. There were no signs of her father, she figured he was at the bar with his friends. It was a Saturday night after all.

"Mom, Kenny is a good guy. I think I really like him..." she trailed off, glancing back outside. "I'm just worried..."

"Worried about what, sweetie?" Her mom asked she had concern in her voice this time. Her brow was slightly furrowed.

"I don't know. Dad just seems to really not like him, and then he threw up at our house, and I don't know. We're not that serious yet." Wendy took her hat and coat off, hanging them on the hooks by the door.

"I know you really like Kenny. He's a sweet kid. I just don't want you lying to me and your dad about who you're hanging out with." Her mom explained, she walked over to Wendy and ruffled her short hair.

"I know. I'm sorry. I was worried dad wouldn't let me go." Wendy sighed.

"Don't worry about your father anymore. I'll talk to him." Her mom smiled softly and stepped away. "I was just brewing some chamomile tea, would you like a cup?"

Wendy nodded and followed her mom into the kitchen. She sat down at the table and her mom set a steaming cup of tea down in front of her. She wrapped her hands around it and raised it to her mouth. It was smooth and fruity, with a mellow honey-like sweetness to it. She smiled warmly, for a moment she felt like everything might be going her way.

"So, how are you holding up? About Stan?" Her mom asked, sitting down across from her. Her own cup of tea in her hands.

"I felt like I got some closure today." Wendy looked down and focused on her tea. "He was my ex-boyfriend after all."

Her mom nodded and dipped her tea bag in the cup of steaming water. "I know. I think that makes grieving him that much harder. You want to move on but well, it's hard. I know. I'm here for you, if you need to talk."

Wendy felt her eyes water slightly. It was hard. She wished she could get rid of all her feelings for Stan. She never wanted him to die. She still couldn't shake the feeling that his sudden suicide might have been partially her doing. But on the other hand, she knew he was responsible for his own actions.

Wendy stood up abruptly, "Thanks, mom. I'm going to go to my room now, okay?" Wendy grabbed her tea and kissed her mom on the head before going to her room. She closed the door behind her and took a deep breath. It was all she could do to will herself not to cry at Stan's memory.

It hurt a lot. Wendy thought it would hurt a lot more if they had still been together. She felt her grief for Stan was unjust. He wasn't hers anymore, she'd let him go. She wished she could let all the memories of him go but her mind was filled with all the good times.

Her mind quickly filled with all the bad times. She shook her head. "I have to get out of my head!" Wendy exclaimed to herself. She grabbed her laptop off her desk and burrowed in under her large comforter. She opened her computer up to YouTube and hoped to keep her mind off things until bed.

Kenny didn't mind opening the coffee shop. He only opened on Sundays, which was the best day to open. People poured in from all over South Park trying to get their coffee before church. Another benefit was getting off early. It was one p.m. and Kenny had just wrapped his shift. He'd promised to text Wendy when he was off.

Kenny didn't do that though, he drove all the way home and ate a pot brownie and scrolled mindlessly through Reddit until he started to feel guilty for not texting Wendy. He felt weird inside, he didn't know how to explain it. He almost felt nervous.

When he heard the cuckoo clock for off in the living room, signaling it was two he finally texted Wendy. At that point, the weed had started to kick in and he was feeling mellowed out. He also felt guilt, why did Wendy tell Kenny he was better than Stan. He was getting high before he even saw her, he was no better.

Wendy texted back quickly, she seemed excited.

I hope you planned something fun (:

Kenny's heart stopped for a second. It had never occurred to him to actually plan something. He felt terribly lost at this new dating thing. He realized this would be the first official date he'd been on. He didn't want it to be that serious though.

Karen burst through Kenny's door, "Kenny can you drive me to the movies real quick?" She asked, excitedly, "Ruby bought us tickets but I don't have a ride, and I don't want to walk. It's so cold."

Kenny stood up and cracked a smile. "I can give you a ride, but you have to help me out with something too."

"What's that?" Karen asked.

"Help me come up with something I and Wendy can do together."

Karen's eyes got wide, "Like a date?!" She exclaimed excitedly, "Are you guys dating?" She sounded hopeful. Kenny didn't want to let her down.

"Well... we're going on a date. We're taking things slow." He shrugged nonchalantly. "But I don't know what to take her to do. What do girls like to do?"

"Why don't you take her ice skating?" Karen asked, "Or you two could go to the movies too! Or... hmm let's see... there's the arcade! That's always fun." She was grinning now.

"The arcade," Kenny repeated, he looked out his window. The snow was falling softly. "That sounds nice." His stomach began to turn, "but what if Wendy doesn't like it."

"It'll be fine. You can win her a giant stuffed animal from the claw machine!" She said excitedly, "It'll be so romantic."

Kenny smiled softly, "I like that idea. Are you ready to go?" He was already putting his shoes on.

Karen grinned, "I just have to grab my coat." She disappeared out of Kenny's room. He picked up his phone and texted Wendy, letting her know he'd be there soon.

Kenny left his room and looked around the house. It was oddly quiet at the moment, almost eerily so. There were empty beer cans strung across the living room and a still-lit cigarette sitting in the ashtray on the end table. Kenny picked it up and took a drag, it's not like anyone was around to see him.

Karen walked into the room and Kenny dropped the cigarette. He hated letting Karen see him smoke. It made him worry she thought he was like their parents. "I'm all ready to go!" Karen chimes happily as she opened the front door letting a cold burst of air in.

Kenny walked outside, instantly feeling refreshed when the cold air hit his face. He was worried about his driving abilities at the moment, he was in his peak high. The world felt like it was buzzing around him. He'd driven on more though, he just had to focus, right?

It felt like he was at Wendy's house in a second. He felt beads of sweat drip down his sides. Why did he feel so nervous? He hoped Karen didn't notice.

Kenny's hands felt shaky as he texted Wendy that he was here. His eyes settled on her front door. Wendy came through it.

She looked so beautiful. Kenny couldn't help but stare as she walked over to his truck, a big smile on her face.

Karen scooter over to the middle seat, bumping Kenny and bringing him back to reality. Wendy slid in the passenger side of the truck.

Kenny felt himself smile, "Hey, I just told Karen I'd take her to the movie theater before we... hang out."

Karen giggled and Kenny just rolled his eyes as he shifted his truck into gear and took off.

"What are we going to do?" Wendy asked Kenny.

He felt like Karen was watching their every move. Analyzing every word they said. He could tell she liked Wendy. He just didn't want her to get ahead of herself.

"I thought we could go to the arcade - if that sounds like fun." He hoped it did. The thought of an arcade seemed nice.

Wendy grinned brightly, "Really? That sounds like so much fun. I haven't been there in so long."

Kenny felt a weight lifted off his shoulders. He didn't know why his stomach felt full of knots right now. They pulled up at the movie theater.

"Do you have money for snacks?" Kenny asked Karen as she began to unbuckle her seatbelt.

"No, but that's ok." Karen smiles up at Kenny.

"Well here, take this anyways. You and Ruby can get some popcorn." He handed her a twenty. He'd just gotten it this morning at work. Working for tips has some benefits.

Kenny got out of the car and let Karen out. He watched her run into the movie theater, hoping it was warmer than it was outside. He got back into his truck and turned to look at Wendy.

Wendy started back at him with a soft smile on her lips. She had perfectly rosy cheeks and soft eyes. Kenny thought he could get lost in them forever.

Wendy laughed and it broke the silence, "Well, what are you waiting for. Let's go to the arcade."

•••

Wendy was surprised Kenny wanted to go to the arcade. Then again, there wasn't much to do in South Park anyways.

They'd had fun though. Wendy did anyways, she could never tell what was on Kenny's mind. She thought he was happy though.

When he beat her at a game he would always laugh at her, grinning widely. Wendy lost a lot of games, she hadn't played so many in years.

Kenny helped her play ski ball. His body was pressed up against hers, holding her arm softly. "The key is in the wrist." He said softly, guiding her arm to roll the ball.

She wondered if he could hear her heart beating from being so close to him. She wondered if he could smell the perfume she put on specifically for this occasion. Kenny smelled clean, there was a lack of cigarette smoke, it usually was overwhelming but today it was faint. Kenny smelt like laundry soap and just himself. Wendy liked it.

The ski ball went into the top left hole and Kenny stepped back, cheering. "Soon you'll be able to be a ski ball pro, like me!"

Wendy giggled, there was one last ball. "I think I can do it myself." She said, smiling. She picked up the ball and aimed, but missed. The ball dropped into the bottom and disappeared into the game.

Kenny laughed at her, "Better luck next time, but look we got some tickets." He shrugged and pulled them out of the machine, handing them to her.

Wendy looked at all the tickets she had in her hand. She figured it was enough to buy a glow stick or something. Kenny and she hadn't been playing the games with the tickets, they'd been busy trying to beat each other at racing games and dance dance revolution.

"We're out of tokens," Kenny informed her, "Want to get more, or we could get out here and get some dinner." He suggested.

"Let's go eat, I'm starving." She smiled brightly. This was the first time she felt genuinely happy since... she tried not to think about that and just focus on the moment.

Kenny and she began to walk towards the exit. The passed by one of those claw machines with the huge stuffed animals in it. "Aww, that bear is so cute." Wendy pointed a stuffed bear, it was light brown and looked soft.

"Maybe I can win it for you." Kenny suggested, "Let's try." He inserted the money.

Wendy couldn't help but smile as she watched him concentrate. He looked deep in thought as he positioned the claw above the bear. It looked good. He pressed the button but the bear slipped through the claw. "Damnit," he mumbled, "Well, I tried my best."

"Let me try." Wendy walked over and I inserted the coins. She moved the claw again, positioning it above the bear. "You know, if I win this bear, it'll be for you."

Kenny laughed, "I'd love for you to win a bear for me." He said.

Wendy positioned the claw where Kenny had aimed before but moved it slightly forward. "This is for sure." She grinned as she pressed the button.

The pair watched in anticipation as the claw lowered. It plucked the bear from the pile of animals as seamlessly as plucking a leaf from a tree. Wendy started cheering as she grabbed the bear out of the machine. She held it up, "That was awesome." She handed the bear to Kenny, "And it's all yours."

Kenny stared at her for a moment as Wendy giggled. He had a small smile on his face. Wendy met his eyes. She wondered what he was thinking.

He cracked a smile before her thought could get away from her. "Thanks for the bear."

"Don't mention it. Now you just owe me dinner."

She walked by Kenny, grabbing his hand and leading him outside.

By now Wendy was used to the biting cold, but she still shivered as she sat in Kenny's car and waited for it warm up. They had buckled the bear into the middle seat like he was a person. Wendy rested her head on it as Kenny turner on his truck and started the wipers. There was a light layer of snow covering their windshield. "Where are we going to eat?" She asked.

"I'm not sure, what are you in the mood for?" Kenny pressed play on the stereo, Judas Priest came roaring through. Although Wendy usually went for pop, the metal was starting to grow on her. It just made her think of Kenny.

"Have you been to City Sushi, I'm kind of in the mood for that." Wendy smiled at him.

"I've never been there," Kenny admitted, somewhat sheepishly.

"Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot..." Wendy trailed off as her face flushed.

"That I'm a poor fuck?" Kenny burst out laughing and started driving towards the sushi restaurant. "It's okay Wendy."

Wendy felt her face still burning with embarrassment. "Thanks." She said softly. She watched out the window as they drove. Kenny sang along to his music.

When they got to City Suhsi they ran inside to quickly get out of the cold. The restaurant had a few people in it, but nothing too crazy. They were seated quickly and Wendy began looking over the menu.

"Just order me whatever's good," Kenny said, he set the menu down. "I'm sure you'll know what's best." He flashed a warm smile.

Wendy smiled back, "When I and Bebe come here we usually get some rolls and share them, does that sound good?"

"Sounds great to me." Kenny grinned.

Wendy couldn't help but stare at Kenny for a moment, he had such a nice face. She wished he would wear his hood up so often. At least at the moment, he had it off, leaving his blue eyes and soft freckles in full view.

The waiter came around and Wendy ordered the rolls she usually got, she hoped Kenny would like them.

"Damn, do you think this snow will ever stop?" Kenny asked, looking outside.

"Not until July, and then only for two weeks." Wendy sighed, "wouldn't it be nice to live somewhere warm?"

"My goal is to live somewhere hot, like Hawaii. Don't you want to be a marine biologist or something? We could run away there together and I could sit on the beach all day long and you could swim with dolphins... or whatever marine biologists do." A goofy smile spread across his lips.

"How did you know I wanted to be a marine biologist?" Wendy asked she didn't remember mentioning that to him.

"You used to talk about it all the time when we were kids. Don't you remember?" He questioned.

"Of course I remember, I just didn't think you remembered."

"Oh Wendy," Kenny laughed, "I spent so much of my life being silent I became a great listener. That and no one ever really understood what I was saying. I guess my voice was too muffled, eventually, I just gave up for a bit. But I've got dirt on everyone. Did you know Clyde only has one nut?"

Wendy burst out laughing and covered her face, "What? No, that's awful." She said between giggles.

The food came as they were still laughing at the expense of Clyde.

Wendy picked up her chopsticks as Kenny stared at them quizzically. "Have you never used them before? Don't worry, it's easy I'll show you. You hold one like a pencil and then you use your fingers to move the other ones." She picked up a piece of sushi and dipped it in soy sauce flawlessly. She couldn't help but watch Kenny watch her in awe, kind of lovingly. She felt her heart beat faster in her chest. "So yeah... it's not too hard."

Kenny picked up his chopsticks and Wendy tried to help him but to no avail. Eventually, they had to call the waiter and ask for a fork, to which Kenny got reprimanded. It wasn't called shitty sushi for nothing.

Kenny didn't seem bothered though. Wendy watched closely as he tried his first piece of sushi. "So what do you think?"

Kenny smiled, "Yeah, it's pretty good." He replied.

Wendy didn't seem convinced though. He continued to eat it anyway, but he was eating like a bird. She wondered how he felt.

When they were done Kenny got a box for the rest of the sushi, "My stomachs just upset," he said, "This morning I did edibles with Tweek and I think they're fucking me up."

When the bill came they both reached for it at the same time, but Wendy snatched it away from him. "Come on, it's the future, let me pay."

"Thanks for dinner." Kenny smiled at her as she paid the bill. They walked outside, back into the cold air, and to Kenny's truck.

"I had fun," Kenny said, starting up his car.

"Me too." Wendy smiled, she would've leaned over for a kiss if the best hadn't been in the way. "I've gotta get going now. Tomorrow'll be the first day I've been back to school since... well, you know. I've got some homework to catch up on."

Kenny started to head toward her house. "Alright, I should probably do my homework too."

The ride home Wendy kept sneaking glances at Kenny. She wondered if he was really as bad as Bebe said. He was such a sweet guy, she couldn't imagine him being the terrible person Bebe made him out to be.

When they got to Wendy's house she crawled over the bear and pressed a kiss to Kenny's cheek, "I'll see you tomorrow at school, okay?"

"Okay, thanks for hanging out with me today."

"No, thank you." Wendy got out of her car and walked to her door. Waving at Kenny before he drove off. Her heartfelt warm. Maybe this was the start of something really good.

•••

Kenny drove home. His stomach was tossing and turning from that disgusting sushi. He didn't know why he forced himself to eat that much. He hoped she wouldn't ask to go again, he didn't know if he could handle that.

When he pulled into the driveway he pulled out the giant teddy bear and the leftover sushi and trudged through the snow to his house. The inside reeked like pot, that must mean his parents were home. He made his way to his room and threw the bear on his bed.

He walked back to the living with the take out container full of uneaten sushi in his hand. His parents were sitting on the couch enjoying a blunt. "I'll give you this sushi if you let me take some hits." He said.

"Kenny, do you know how inappropriate it is to smoke a blunt with your seventeen-year-old son?" His mom asked.

"Now Carol, the boy's got sushi." His dad interrupted, "it's not every day we get something so fancy."

Kenny wanted to crawl inside himself and die. How could he have come from these guys? He wanted to say he was better than them, but he knew in his heart he was not. He gave his dad the sushi and sat down on the couch. The three of them passed a blunt around while I'm White Trash and I'm in Trouble played in the background.

Kenny kept smoking until he felt like he was floating. His parents could out smoke him any day. He got up without a word and made his way to the kitchen. He was starving, maybe it was the weed or the fact he barely ate anything for dinner.

He made himself a bowl of cereal- lucky charms. The marshmallows melting on his tongue felt like heaven and the milk cured his cottonmouth. He slowly walked back to his room, enjoying every bite of cereal along the way.

He put on a record, he was too lazy to change it from last time so soon the sounds of sublime filled his room. He leaned on the big bear and ate his cereal. The bear smelt like Wendy's perfume, he smiled. Wendy felt too good to be true, he couldn't believe she had an interest in him. He felt all warm and fuzzy.

He finished his cereal and laid down, resting the mostly empty bowl of milk on his stomach as he got lost in the music. He felt too good to get up right now. Today was the best day he'd had in a long time. The happiness he felt spending time with Wendy was really unmatched by anything in his life recently, but he couldn't help but feel it was too good to be true.

He feared there was something dangerous looming. He wondered how she could jump from Stan to him so quickly. Was he a rebound? He didn't want to be. He felt nice when he thought about Wendy, it was new and kind of scary. He'd never felt this particular way about someone before.

He wasn't sure if it was love, but he'd been thinking of her fondly for sure.

Lost deep in thought about Wendy and with his ears filled with Sublime, he couldn't hear his mom yelling his name. Then there was a pounding on his door that made him jump up, spilling milk all over him and his bedsheets. "Goddamnit!" He groaned, he got up and played his record and opened his door. "What?!" Be asked, kind of aggressively.

"There's a girl at the door for you." His mom said, stepping out of his way.

Wendy? He wondered what she was doing here. How would she even get here? She didn't have a car. Maybe someone driver her, but who? Maybe Bebe? He thought she hated him.

He turned the corner and looked up, expecting to meet Wendy's eyes. He was shocked to look up and come in contact with aquamarine orbs. "Bebe?" He questioned out loud, "What the fuck are you doing here?"

He felt annoyance stir up inside him. She had just lied to Wendy about him to try and ruin things between him.

"Kenny, that's no way to talk to a lady!" His dad's voice boomed. He wanted to vomit.

"Yeah Kenny," Bebe purred, she warped her arm around Kenny and pulled herself in close next to him. "Your dad's right, that's no way to talk to a lady."

Kenny just glared at her. She smiled up to him, flashing her bright teeth accented by her dark red lipstick.

"Well, are you going to introduce us to your lady friend?" His mom asked.

"She's no one important," Kenny said shaking her off his arm. "In fact, I don't even know why she's here."

His parents exchanged glances.

"I just wanted to talk to you." Bebe smiled again, innocently. "Do you have a sec?"

Kenny just groaned and grumbled under his breath as he leads Bebe to his room. "This had better be important." He mumbled to her.

"It'll be important, it's about Wendy. Isn't that an important thing for you now?"

Kenny just rolled his eyes.
