SP CH. 01

Yuuki Masato's POV

Holy shiyaaa—

Just how do I escape them? I studied as a doctor, not some escapist! Just how did things turn out like this? I thought that Kurosawa Family's just a prominent family of fishermans, but oh my god! I never knew they are not just a family, but a clan! They also have some Yakuza side on them. How am I going to escape this? This is not why I came to Numazu!

I am currently on the run from some Yakuzas. Apparently, I scared the daughter of the family's head when I bumped into her on the bookstore, and her older sister made a big fuss about it—being too loud inside the store as if I harrassed her sister when all I did was to catch her when she was about to fall from the ladder from getting some idol magazines. I didn't know and it's not my fault on why that small red-head's got an androphobia.

I managed to hide myself on a small passageway. But just when I had a breather, a bunch of men grabbed me by my arms and now, I'm here on some traditional house. Wearing a white coat, midnight blue dress shirt, black skinny jeans, and black slip-on shoes. I was kneeling with the yakuzas—man, is saving someone from getting to the hospital really that bad? I glanced over to the sisters, sitting beside their father and mother.

"Is what I heard from my eldest daughter, true? That you, who is wearing a white coat—a doctor, and should be someone saving people, harassed my youngest daughter?"

He doesn't look okay, he's kind of pale. "Sir, are you alrigh—" he cut me.

"Answer my question."

"Uhm, I did tried to sa—" that small kid I saved stood up. "F-Father, Dia-oneechan got it wrong. U-Uhm that D-Doctor saved me from falling. I just freaked out because… He's a male, and I almost went to grave danger."

"W-What? Is that true Ruby?"

"Y-Yes oneechan…"

WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL IT TO YOUR SISTER SOONER?! But atleast they thought I'm some doctor already, I'm still a medical student, an assistant to the surgeons. I sighed and stood up.

"Is everything done—"

Oh boy,

oh boy

y.

The family head fell on the Tatami mat.

"Father!"

"Dear!"

Everyone came rushing to the collapsed middle-aged man. I sighed again and made my way to the unconscious man. I used the stethoscope hung on my neck and started checking his chest. No heartbeat? Is this Cardiac Arrest?

"Call an ambulance." I looked at the young lady who seemed like the eldest of the two.

"W-Why?" She asked.

"Are you really his daughter or are you adopted? Call an ambulance if you don't want your father to freaking die!"

She immediately pulled her phone out and started dialing. While I, for the meantime, performed CPR. The heartbeat came back, but I still think this man should get a proper treatment.

"His heartbeat came back, but he still needs to be treated in the hospital." I explained to the family. I removed my white coat and unbuttoned a few buttons of my shirt, seriously this house's kind of hot.

When we arrived at the Hospital, the unconscious man was immediately brought to the operating room. Then I received a severe scolding from my seniors, I just missed a surgery.

The operation was a success, I watched them gather around the hospital bed on the ICU. The eldest daughter, kind of reminded me of Maki. That one girl who stood with me when our families were against us.

How are you doing, by the way? I smiled as I turned my back.

I sipped on the cup of iced coffee inside the Hospital's café. I was talking with my sister on the phone, telling her about how horrific this day was—being called a sexual offender and being brought to a traditional Japanese house and is threatened by some goons. Sigh. I hope this day could still get better.

"At least you got to save someone from heart attack." I smiled from hearing her sweet voice.

"That white coat certainly suits you the best, Masa-nii." She added.

"Really? Thanks Anju~" I have really changed over the years, from being a cold and annoying senior to someone I am now.

"A-Anju? You mean that Yuuki Anju from A-RISE?" Whoops. I pressed the end-call button to look at who called my sister and spoke of the idol group I managed before. It was that girl from earlier. After making a fuss on the bookstore, now what the heck do you need from me?!

"U-uhm… yes?" I replied as I looked back on her turquoise orbs.

"Uhm. No. I mean my mother has called for you." From her expression full of interest, it turned to a serious one.

"Got it, I'm on my way." I stood up from the chair and started walking towards the café's exit.

"And oh, do you like A-Rise? I'm their composer, and Anju's older brother. Yuuki Masato."

"Eh? Is that true?!" She exclaimed.

I smiled at her and continued walking towards the hallways. She quickly followed and started asking me tons of things, she then arrived at the point of asking me if I had a chance to meet µ's.

"Yes. My relationship with them was kind of short, but it was lots of fun. Especially with their composer, Maki."

"H-How can you address her so casually?"

"That's a story for another time, we've arrived." I slid the door open and I was welcomed by a middle aged woman dressed in a pale pink and white kimono. Her short black hair was down. And her bangs were alike with her eldest daughter—hime cut, huh?

"Doctor, our family is indebted to you." Wait, I'm not a doctor, I'm still a medical stu—whatever.

"Thank you ma'am. But I'm afraid to tell you, I'm still a medical student."

"I already know about that, but I saw your records— they are impressive. I've talked to the current hospital head, he has agreed to let you be our family doctor."

"I still don't have my license—"

"Our family is on the top when it comes to underground business. Just leave it to us, alright?" The woman walked towards me and whispered to my ear. I had no choice but to nod due to her being pushy.

It's been two years started working for their family as well as studying, I was given a room inside the house, and it was small but was quite big for me. There came a time when I was studying in summer, in a broad day light.

There were three knocks on the sliding door, I stood up and slid it open— it revealed the perfectionist daughter of the head, Kurosawa Dia. She's the next in line to be the head of the family, despite receiving criticisms from the other members of the family, she is certainly proving herself that you don't have to be a male to success the family. Aside from that, she's pretty, a real head turner. An intelligent kid who had the same numbers in ranks with me during my schooldays, number one. She's also an Idol, a member of the new group called Aqours.

"Yes, young miss?"

"I- I have something to tell you, doctor."

"What is it, are you feeling unwell?" I noticed her face being red, and her right hand clutching to her chest tightly.

She slowly entered my room and slid its door close.

"Dr. Yuuki. I…" She hugged me. When she was in her first year, she hugged me and cried. Telling me that their group is breaking up, and her friend is flying abroad. I patted her head, and asked her. "Is there something wrong? Is your friend flying to America again?" I asked. She wasn't crying.

"No…" she pulled back and looked at me with her turquoise orbs. "Doctor, I think I'm in love." She said.

"My little kid's in love, eh? With whom?"

"With you."

I chuckled. "Where did you learn that joke? It's not funny."

"I'm not joking."

I smiled and looked at her.

"Dia, you're a lot like me when I was your age. And I like you for that, I'm sorry but I have someone waiting for me— well I do hope she's still waiting."

"I've been through a lot when I was your age. Being forced to marry girls I don't really like, fighting for my dreams of freedom and god-knows-what-those-are. And in those adventures, I've found the person I'd like to be with. So please forgive me if I can't accept your feelings, there are barriers, and it wouldn't look good to break those." I smiled at Dia and handed her a melon bread. Then pushed her outside my room to resume my studies.

A few days passed and she knocked on my room again. I wasn't wearing my coat that time due to the heat, and was only wearing a short sleeved dress shirt. That time, I was checking if my old engagement ring still fits well on my finger, and it does—it fits so well that I'm even having a hard time on removing it.

I slid the door open, and there she was. Dia was about to tell me something but she decided to stop, and just ask me for some headache medicines. As much as I'd like to follow her, I know it wouldn't do any good as this family is as strange as it is. Everyday, I tend to some Yakuza's wounds. Sometimes, I'm the little Ruby's tutor when her older sister's with the head and the madame on family meetings.

After a year, my adoptive grandmother was admitted to the hospital. I've been visiting her since then, but was avoiding everyone's sight. It would be a big trouble if someone from my family—even Anju, sees me. I visit her during my day offs, though I still hurry back to the Kurosawa's whenever the head, or the madame feels unwell.

Those days, I frequently saw Maki as a medical student. She was still as pretty as she was. There was a time when I know she noticed me, I quickly ran off and when she followed, I was nowhere to be seen. I kept on hiding myself, until the day came—the madame was to be admitted to the hospital, the University Hospital in Numazu doesn't have the services needed for the madame to return back to health. She was then brought in to Tokyo, and I had to be with her family as their doctor. I was hiding myself no more. It was a good thing that Young miss Dia was studying in Tokyo, that she found a good hospital for her mother—the Nishikino University Hospital.

"Grandma, how are you doing? It's been a month since I last saw you. It feels sad that I'm not by your side when you got admitted last month."

"I'm fine, sweetie. A young female doctor's been taking care of me and my heart. I'm sure you'll like her."

"Grandma you still love jokes. Quit doing that! Hahaha!"

I laugh at the sight of my healthy grandmother.

"Grandma, looks like your Doctor's here."

"M-Masato…?"

"It's been years, Maki." I greeted her, I looked in her eyes carefully—she was about to cry. She walked Towards me and hugged me.
