Lucy sighed happily as she stared at herself in the mirror, turning one way and then the other to get a better look at her dress. She never thought that she would be this happy about an arranged marriage.
"You look lovely, Miss Lucy." The maid that was helping her get ready commented with a smile.
"Thank you, I feel lovely." Lucy smiles back. She was right when she said that her and Freed wouldn't be able to see each other again until their wedding day. But she wouldn't have to wait any longer, because today was the day. Not only would she finally get to see the man that has been filling her mind for the past week, but they would be living together as a couple. It made her heart flutter and a small blush appear on her cheeks.
The maid walked closer and started pulling and pinning Lucy's hair as she got it ready for the ceremony starting in an hour, careful not to step on the long white dress. It was puffy with tiny sparkles over the top layer of thin lace of the skirt, the top hugging her curves beautifully. The sweetheart neckline didn't dip very far and Lucy was very grateful for that, not wanting to seem like she was flaunting.
"Are you nervous?" The woman asked, pinning some hair out of the way.
"A little, but I'm mostly excited. He's such a sweetheart, and I can't believe I'm actually happy about an arranged marriage. Our married life will be nothing short of.. interesting, I guess you could say." She giggled. She couldn't wait for the day he took her away from this life, being able to live freely with him and train her magic to become stronger. She wanted more than anything else to find more keys and the best way to accomplish that would be to join a guild and go on missions. Perhaps in their free time, she could ask Freed to train with her.
"Yes, you did get quite lucky. He's very handsome."
"Indeed." Lucy sighed dreamily. Yes, Freed was very attractive, but he also sent butterflies in her stomach from the way he treated her. He was such a gentleman, and she even liked the teasing side he had. His voice was smooth and he was always so sure of his words. He was very intelligent and extremely alluring. She couldn't wait until they could be free together.
With her hair finally finished, the maid got to work on putting light makeup on Lucy. She's been at the manor long enough to know that Lucy didn't really like makeup but it was definitely expected for today. Her father wanted everything to be perfect so that the marriage would go smoothly.
Freed took a deep breath as he tightened the red tie on his suit. He wasn't necessarily a fan of black, but it was what his father had picked so he must wear it. He requested a white suit but his father immediately declined, saying that white was for the bride only. His hair was pulled back into a high ponytail with two strands loose to frame his face. His father had insisted on moving his bangs away from over his eye, saying that he can at least look more presentable for just one day. It felt strange having them moved, but it was only for the day.
Besides, it was probably a good idea to have both of his eyes cleared so he could fully take in what he knew was going to be the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen.
Freed watched as the servant that was helping him get ready finally left and he rushed over to his bag. With a swipe of his hand, magic flowing through his fingertips, he revealed a secret pocket. He smiled and reached inside, pulling out a small lacrima. With one final look around, he sent a burst of magic in it and smiled when his friend appeared. "Hello, Laxus."
"Hey, Freed. You ready to get this done?"
He bobbed his head. "Yes, I am actually quite excited. Lucy seems like such a wonderful woman."
Laxus chuckled. "Right. Wish I could be there to support you, but you'll be getting all the support you need from your lady tonight on your special night." He waggled his eyebrows.
Freed blushed and turned his head. "Yes, that is usually expected of a couple on their wedding night. However, I will make it entirely Lucy's decision on what happens tonight. I know that our fathers will expect us to engage in that, as they most likely want a son to be born as soon as possible." He turns back and gives Laxus a determined look. "But pregnancy will not matter because we are going to be leaving this place no matter what."
Laxus sighed and smiled. "You're right, I'll bust you outta there myself if I have to."
There was a knock at the door and Freed quickly shut off the lacrima, shoving it in the pocket and using his magic to hide it again. He stood just as his father walked in and gave him a bow. "Hello, father."
"Hello, Freed. You look nice." Mr. Justine said as he walked over, his eyes scanning for anything out of place on his son.
"Thank you very much." His stands straight again.
"I hope you are ready, there will be no turning back now." He stands in front of Freed, a few inches taller than the younger man.
"Yes, father, I am ready." Freed nods. He was more than ready to watch her walk down the isle towards him.
"Good. Let us go and get you ready at the alter. Follow me." Mr. Justine said before walking off, Freed following behind.
Freed's heart started pounding harder and harder the closer they got to the end of the isle. He hadn't seen Lucy in over a week, and his second time seeing her would be in a wedding dress. He was beyond excited. Sure, he barely knew her, but he couldn't help this certain attraction he felt towards her. When she asked him if they could run away together, it sent his heart soaring that she wanted to do something he was passionate about together. She also wanted to escape and join a guild so they could have fun and help people.
He gave a small bow to the Notary in greeting and the man smiled. "Congratulations, you must be very excited."
Freed gave a smile back. "Yes, I am." He nods to his father when he says he will be taking a seat. Lucy would be coming through those doors any minute, and he couldn't seem to take his eyes away from the spot she would be entering from. The wedding was large, of course, with not too many family members but plenty of nobles and other rich men he had no idea about. On his side, he had both of his parents, his brother, even his cousins and uncles and aunts. He noticed that the family side for Lucy was empty, and it saddened him to not even see her mother. She would tell him about it eventually, and he would be patient.
The music started playing and he felt his heart start pounding loudly in his chest. He would finally get to see her once again, and this time they wouldn't be torn apart. They could finally put their plan into action and live out the dream they both yearned so dearly for.
Freed's breath caught in his throat when the doors opened to reveal Lucy linked with her father. Her eyes rose to meet his and he saw the happiness in them. She was stunning, so unbelievably breathtaking that he had to remind himself to exhale before he embarrassed himself with choking. She was so graceful as her father slowly led her down the isle, but he could only see her.
Lucy loved how his hair looked pulled back to show his beautiful eyes. His hair and eyes were her favourite features on him, and she couldn't tear her stare away. He looked so beautiful standing at the end of the isle, it seemed like it was taking forever to walk over to him.
She wondered if he was as happy as she was, or if it was weird that she was excited to marry someone that she had only talked to for a day. Perhaps this was what she read about in those romance novels about 'love at first sight'. It sent shivers up her spine and a blush spreading across her cheeks.
She never really had proper interactions between anyone but her parents, spirits, and servants. None of them she could consider proper outside interactions. Perhaps this was some sort of beginning of love, or maybe it was her heart excited to be able to meet someone other than who she considered family. It both scared her and excited her. All she knew was that her life was about to be a lot more interesting once she was finally married to him.
They had no idea how long it would take for their parents to let their guards down around them. It's could take weeks, months, or even years. Lucy really hoped it wouldn't take years, she wanted out of this lifestyle as soon as possible, and she knew that he felt the same way.
Freed gave her a soft smile when she finally stood in front of him, her father leaving to take a seat without a word. He reached forward and gently grasped her hands, his smile growing at the blush that appeared. "You're beautiful." He whispered.
She squeezed his hands and gave him a bright smile. "Thank you, so are you." She giggles at his small flush.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today.."
Lucy let the voice of the Notary fade as she took in more detail of her soon-to-be husband. From his shining greenish-blue eyes, to the beauty mark under his left one, and to his plush lips, she thought he had the face of an Angel. The curve of his nose was almost too perfect and his hair was just as soft looking as the day she met him. She hoped that he would let her run her fingers through it, she already knew it would become a habit.
Her eyes slid down to his chest, and how there was a slight strain on the buttons. It was easy to tell he was well built and she couldn't wait to lay her eyes on his bare skin. That is, if he let her of course. There was no rush to this relationship like their fathers expected, they would go at their own pace and hopefully find the love she's always dreamed about.
Freed felt like his breath wouldn't return to him, she looked so lovely. Her big brown eyes stared at him so sweetly, it made his heart flutter. Was this what they called 'Love at First Sight'? He always thought it was ridiculous, how could somebody fall in love so quickly. But now he knew. It doesn't matter if you've known the person for a month or even ten years, once you feel that bond, you can't break it.
"Do you, Freed Justine, take Lucy Heartfilia, to be your lawful wife, to have and to hold, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?" The Notary asks, smiling at the green haired man.
"I do." Freed nods.
"And do you, Lucy Heartfilia, take Freed Justine, to be your lawful husband, to have and to hold, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?" He turns his smile to Lucy.
"I do." She breaths.
"Then I may now pronounce you; Mister and Misses Justine."
There were soft claps around the room, no one particularly excited about the whole ordeal. This was normal in wealth after all, and it saddened Lucy. Lucy Justine, She hummed in her mind, might take me a bit to be used to, but I like it. She linked her arm with Freed's and they both made their way down the isle. It was now time for them to play the part of being actually interested in running the business. Faze One; Marriage, complete! Now they just had to get their fathers to lower their guards enough so they could sneak out.
"Y'know," Lucy says, leaning against her new husband with a glass of champagne in her hand, "I think you would have looked really good in a white suit." She chuckled.
Freed smiled and wrapped his left arm around her waist, his own glass in his free hand. "That is what I thought, but father stated that white was only to be worn by the bride."
She scoffed before taking a sip of her drink. "Of course he would say that. Someone outta pull that stick out of his ass." She snickered behind her glass when she heard him choke.
"You are really showing your true colours, that is quite a sentence coming from a lady." He pulled a handkerchief from his coat pocket, dabbing at his mouth.
She lowered her glass and gave a small frown. "Is.. Is that a bad thing? Do you not like-"
"No!" He blurted, blushing when he realized it came out louder than he meant to. He cleared his throat and tucked the piece of cloth back into his coat. "No, it's not that I do not like it, I was just surprised. That is all. I apologize if I upset you."
Lucy blinked before placing a hand over her mouth to cover her laugh. "Pfft, I didn't think you could get so defensive."
Freed grumbled, his blush not leaving as he downed the rest of his drink. A waiter came up to him soon after he finished it to offer more. Freed gladly placed his empty glass on the tray before grabbing a full one, thanking the young man. When the waiter walked away, he noticed Jude approaching them. He took a deep breath and bowed slightly when he stopped in front of them. "Good evening, Mr. Heartfilia."
"Yes, to you as well." He nods before turning to Lucy. "I need to speak with you." He states before turning and taking his leave.
Lucy sighed and glanced up at Freed. "I'll be right back." She finished the rest of her drink before following after her father.
Freed leaned against the wall as he watched her walk away, her posture seemed very stiff.
"Congrats, Brother."
Slightly startled, Freed looked over to the voice next to him to see Martin. "Thank you, Martin." He sighed.
"Can't believe you lucked out with such a beauty." Martin chuckled, leaning against the wall beside his brother. "Is she annoying?"
"Not in the slightest." Freed smiled fondly, watching her talk with her father. She seemed annoyed, but it was to be expected. Her father was probably talking about her getting pregnant.
"Well, aren't you just the luckiest man alive. You excited for tonight?" He nudged the taller man, giving him a wink.
Freed rolled his eyes. "Do not be inappropriate, that is none of your concern."
"If you say so," Martin shrugged. He saw that Lucy was walking over to them and took that as his cue to leave. "I'll see you around, Freed." He patted him on the shoulder before walking away.
Lucy huffed as she leaned against the wall next to Freed, a frown not leaving her lips. "I can't wait to get out of here." She mumbled.
"We shall, I promise you." He grabbed her hand and placed a kiss to her knuckles. "Just hold on a bit longer."
She smiled and pulled her hand to her chest. "It'll be much easier with you around. I just wish he wasn't so quick to pester me about kids. Of course he's gonna say-"
"I expect you to give birth to a boy." They both say in unison. They locked eyes before laughing.
"Yes, of course he would say that." Freed nodded.
Lucy grinned up at him. "As if I can control what I give birth to." She rolls her eyes. "If I'm gonna have kids, I'm going to have them when I want, and their gender doesn't matter." She nods.
He smiled down at her, grabbing her hand so she would look at him. "And you will get that chance, to live a happy and normal life, just as you wished for."
She squeezed his hand and gave him a bright smile. "Thank you, Freed."
"You are very welcome, Mrs. Justine." He chuckles.
Lucy blushes. "That's going to take me a bit to get used to."
He wraps his arm around her waist once more and pulls her close to his side. "Perhaps, but I think Lucy Justine sounds lovely."
She giggles and wraps her own free arm around his waist, leaning her head against his shoulder. "Even though we practically just met, I feel happy with you, Freed." She gives a contented sigh and closes her eyes.
"As do I, Lucy."
The rest of the wedding went on smoothly, other than Freed's father walking up to the couple and mentioning a baby boy the same way Lucy's father did. The married couple danced to a few different songs and had more and more to drink before finally deciding to take their leave.
There was a carriage waiting for them when they stepped outside and they both climbed in to head back to Freed's manor. Lucy was nervous, she didn't know if Freed expected her to have sex with him tonight or not. Sure she was really into him, but that didn't change the fact that they were still practically strangers. She really didn't want to sleep with someone she hardly knew.
She figured he would be gentle, but maybe he would respect her choice in not wanting to do anything. Maybe she was overthinking things and he didn't want to either. She would find out shortly, they were getting closer and closer to her new home.
"Are you alright?"
The sudden voice of the man next to her made her jump in surprise. She looked over at him and gave him a smile. "Yes, this is all just so new and I'm kinda nervous."
Freed gave her a smile back and grasped her hand, squeezing it gently in reassurance. "There is nothing to be worried about, My Dear. I promise you'll get used to it." He leaned closer to whisper to her, "Well, as used to it as you can until we leave." He pulled back and winked.
She sighed and gave him a genuine smile. "You're right."
The carriage pulled to a stop and the door was soon opened for them, Freed stepping out first. He offered a hand to Lucy and she gladly accepted, stepping down with his help.
"Thank you." She said before looping her arm around his.
"You are very welcome, My Dear." Freed replied before leading them to his home. No, their home.
My Dear, Lucy thought. She seemed to like it quite a bit, a lot better than 'My Lady'. He led her up the few steps and opened the door for her. She gave a teasing curtsy to him before walking inside, grinning at the sound of his chuckle.
Freed closed the door and placed a hand on her back, leading her further into the mansion. "Allow me to show you our bedroom."
Lucy's heart pounded in her chest as they walked further down the hall. Their room? Oh god, why so quick? Was he really that eager to feel her up? Maybe she spoke too soon on thinking he was perfect, maybe it was all an act so he could seduce her into his bed.
They stopped in front of a door and he opened it for her, opening his arm to allow her to enter first. Her saw the unease on her face as she passed him and he frowned. He shut and locked the door behind him after he entered and watched her flinch. "Are you truly alright?"
Lucy turned to him and gave him a weak smile. "Yes, like I said before; I'm just nervous."
He frowned but left it at that, he didn't want to push her to tell him if she didn't want to. He walked over to the new dresser that was placed in his room and rummaged through it before grabbing a set of clothes. He walks over to her and hands them to her with a gentle smile. "Here you are, the bathroom is just over there so you may change in private." He points to one of the doors in the room.
Lucy grabs the clothes and holds them to her chest. "Thanks." She says before shuffling over to the bathroom. She shut the door and let out a breath. It's not that she wouldn't mind losing her virginity to a man like Freed, but she still felt like he was a stranger to her, even if she was falling for him. It would definitely be difficult to escape the mansion if she was pregnant or even if she had a baby, so maybe she could convince him that the most logical way to escape would be to wait.
She slipped out of her dress and other garments she had on, washing her face before untying her hair. She grabbed the clothes that Freed had given her and tilted her head. Maybe she was jumping to conclusions with him and he didn't actually want sex either? If he did then he surely wouldn't have given her a pair of shorts and a long nightgown, right?
She shrugged before pulling on the clothes and brushing out her hair. After one final glance at her look, she nodded and left the bathroom. She smiled at Freed waiting patiently on the bed in a tee shirt and pajama bottoms.
When she plopped down on the bed next to him, he gave her a smile and a swift kiss on the forehead. "You look lovely."
Lucy blushed and twiddled her fingers. "Thank you."
"Shall we be off to bed then?" He slid his legs under the covers before shutting off his lamp. He laid his head on the pillow and let out a contented sigh.
Lucy blinked in surprise before getting under the covers as well and shutting off her lamp. She rolled onto her side to face her husband and furrowed her brows. "Freed?"
Freed turned to face her as well and reached forward to hold her hand. "Yes, My Dear?"
"We're not going to have sex?"
Red instantly flooded Freed's face and he pulled his hand from hers, sputtering and looking everywhere but at her.
Lucy brought a hand to her mouth and giggled. So she was wrong after all, he was truly a gentlemen and wasn't just pretending so he could get in her pants.
After taking a few breaths to calm himself, Freed finally looked at her amused eyes. "D-Did you want to have... relations?"
Lucy burst out laughing at that sentence, watching his face turn even more red. "Relations?" She snickered, "I can't believe you just said that."
"W-Well, I could also call it coitus." He teases, smiling at her continued laughter. She really did have a beautiful laugh that made his heart flutter.
She finally calms down and give him a grin. "To answer your question; no, I don't want relations. I thought you did and that's why I asked."
With his blush finally gone, he held her hand once more with a chuckle. "I see. Well, it is not that I wouldn't love to see how beautiful you really are, but I wanted to respect your boundaries and only do anything if you initiated it. Is that why you have been so nervous?"
She nods her head and scoots closer to him. "Yeah, I was worried that even though you're a gentleman, you would still abide by the high class and expect a baby from me."
He brushed her hair behind her ear. "What I expect from you if for you to be happy. That's all I want."
Lucy sighed and smiled. "You're amazing. Besides, it would be pretty hard to sneak out of here with a baby in me."
"Precisely."
