Bonnie Bennett Pov

Dear Diary,

It's an unusually warm day in Paris.. Surprising no cloud or rain insight. I returned from visiting Abby in Virginia four weeks ago, and I cannot seem to stop thinking about Enzo. Well, Enzo's great nephew who tracked me down.

The day after the diner I wasn't successful in reaching Damon, yet I left a voicemail with Jeremy who passed along the message to Elena. Jeremy even emailed me to say he last spoke to Damon and Elena weeks ago and ask them about Enzo's journals.

I truly managed to alienate my old friends completely that they are officially unreachable … the way I wanted.

Angelo Andino, who I never heard of before, I assume still searching for Ezno's journals. Journals I wasn't aware of that Enzo wrote. Nor have I ever known Dalton St. John to hold diaries that weren't connected to the armory.

Regardless… I made it clear to Angelo that my call to Damon was the most I would do, but now I'm alone far from Virginia wondering why he needs to truly find Enzo's journals. What could Enzo have wrote from a life of a family he believed never wanted him?

At the present time, I have exactly two weeks to pull off the most extravagant charity gala that my sponsor Moushira Khattab has ever seen. My boss is her adoptive son Moses. They invited Humanitarians from all over the world to attend. I haven't been this excited for a gala for a while now. My job in Egypt started when I first moved there after Enzo's death. It will hit the fifth year mark in four days.

Surprisingly Jamie couldn't continue his work with animal and wildlife rescue. Two years ago while we were on a mission to save some baby cubs from poachers, he met his future wife. Alissa Pratt, a musician from Los Angeles, California.

Ironically just my height I introduced Alissa to Jamie when I noticed their annoyingly sick obsession for sing-off-competitions. I laugh at it all the time. Jamie and I were once semi-romantic, however after some time we decided to remain friends and colleagues.

Jamie always was initially fearful of the supernatural when he and I first met on my search for Abby. He remains very kind and loyal to her, and I. He cared so much about me that a few months after I moved to Egypt, he visited and never left.

Which reminds me, I need to call and see how he's doing.

Placing my pen inside the strap of my diary, I picked up my phone and scrolled down my contacts to his picture.

A picture I took of him the first day we started our Animal activist cook-off event, where tourists prepared their own healthy-green-vegan food for animals only. It was a complete success.

"Hey, Bonnie." Jamie's voice filled with complete delight. "I phoned you weeks ago, dude."

"So dramatic. It's been a week." I replied with a smile on my face.

Picturing his handsome young, green eyes always thrilled to see me. Last year I visited Abby, he happened to stop by her place and spun me around in a bear hug so fast I got dizzy. I definitely was surprised that he missed me so much now that he had Alissa to keep him busy.

I smiled, with gratitude to have such an amazing friend to miss greatly.

"Hi. How are you?" I ask.

"Oh, I've been better. Abby visited in the night and gave us a heart attack. Alissa almost blinded her with vervain-pepper-spray." He spoke with amusement.

"Wait, What?" I say into the phone confused. "Where's Abby? Is everything alright?" I am certain that he only has visits from Abby around the holidays.

The moment I knew Jamie and Alissa were moving back to Virginia I knew I had to tell them how to protect themselves against vampires. Just in case- You can never be too careful these days.

"Yeah, she's just fine. She has her hands full holding the baby, while Alissa rests for a nap. We had a long night."

"Baby? You had a baby?" I say loudly in shock, glancing self-consciously around the 'Sacred Flower' French restaurant. "Why didn't I know about this? I thought we were close enough for you to tell me we were planning to have a baby?"

"Sorry Bonnie, you were the first person we wanted to tell but we were afraid if we told you or Abby about the adoption process it wouldn't happen quickly. To our surprise the adoption agency responded faster than we thought."

Alissa and Jamie love wasn't insta-love yet their friendship was, and before they knew it they were spending all their time together. Ironically Alissa always assumed Jamie and I wore an item for quite some time. I made it clear once I noticed her fondness of Jamie, who was oblivious to it all.

I admitted I played-mini-match-maker who would pretend to be exhausted from our many group-outings just so they could find something in common besides humanitarian work.

"Wow, right. Yeah I completely understand." I nodded to myself. "You and Alissa must be over the moon." I twice only heard of Jamie mentioning having a family, I knew once his shotgun-wedding to Alissa happened I knew them starting a family wouldn't be far behind.

I'm even more happy for Alissa, she's the most kind-hearted-funny-down-to-earth person I know. In another life, she and I would be blood sister's. "Congratulations Jamie."

"Thanks Bonnie."

"So what's his name?" I ask about the baby.

"James. Alissa and I finally bought him home a week ago. I was actually hoping you would still be in town. It's been a while since we saw each other. Abby says Egypt's been a bit lonely for you."

"Right. Yeah, A little. You and Alissa were my closest friends."

"I promise we will visit soon, alright? Soon as James settles in we'll jump on a plane and stay for days. I miss Egypt and working with the charities."

Which I'm sure will be in about two years. A baby ans airplanes don't mix.

"Hey, I'm fine. Don't rush getting back there, besides.. Something tells me I'll be back to traveling around. I'm actually in Paris." I say. "I had to return for work. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to accompany the group to Paris. If the gala is successful I will be able to open up my own Humanitarian facility where I'll be in-charge of my own charities. I have enough connections to spread more awareness. Moses has been great."

"That's because he's obsessed with you, but- Wow. Paris? A Gala? The charities. The glow-up is real over there huh?" He laughs. "That all sounds amazing. I'm glad everything is truly working out for you Bonnie."

Moses Khattab' and I once did have a thing a long time ago, but then he became my Boss- besides he stood me up- clearly too busy to have a personal life... just like me.

"Thanks, Jamie. Yes, it's all very beautiful in Egypt, and here. The work I'm doing has been the best thing I have ever done in my entire life. I actually wish you and Alissa were here with me joining it all."

"Me too… we miss you, and Bonnie..?"

"Yeah?"

"Take some time to enjoy everything, alright. Don't make it all about work, have some real fun as well."

I glanced across the restaurant at a group of young girls taking photos and laughing with each. Then, not too far from them sat an elderly couple eating off each other's plate.

All around were family and friends that I once had in so many different ways.

I just have to make time for that type of life again. Traveling the world has been extravagant, yet a bit lonely at times.

"I'll keep that in mind. Congratulations on the new baby, Jamie. You're going to make such a great father. I promise whenever I visit, your home in Innsbrook, Virginia will be my very first stop."

"I will hold you to that. Only thing new here is James and it's been great. We all need you now, and for you to settle down."

"I know…"

"James barely cries at night, can you believe that? I'm loving this, he needs a little cousin now."

I laughed. "That is very surprising, and I'm happy to hear that... I'll work on his cousin alright.. in a few years." I joke back.

"Sure. Thanks, be safe alright, and don't wait an entire week to call me back next time. I know you're busy but don't make me jump on a plane to Paris now."

I laughed. "Well, just so you won't make any surprise pop ups… I will only be here for another week, then back to Egypt."

"Email or text message me once you get back there, alright?"

"No problem."

"Have a good day, Bonnie. Enjoy your Mimosa." He says with amusement in his tone, and I glassed down at the drink in front of me.

"Am I that predictable?" I smile looking out the window to the city streets.

"No. I just know you very well. Talk with you soon." Jamie replied with a chuckle and I took the phone from my ear and ended the call.

It's strange how others know me better than I know myself. It has always been like that for me.

It wasn't until after Stefan's death that I truly forgave him for killing Enzo. I had to let go of any ill feelings if I was completely going to move on. I struggled a bit with loneliness when I first moved to Egypt, though I also made a few friends to help keep the days flying gracefully.

Jamie has definitely become one of my closest confidants.

When I met Jamie on my search to find my mother, Abby.. I was jealous of him. His closeness to Abby. He and I became fast friends and even went to a school dance together..

One night we eventually kissed yet we decided to stay distant friends and end whatever type of romantic thing we thought we needed to have..

I sighed. I've only tried to go on one date -two years after Enzo's death and it didn't go as planned. Moses, my Boss before he was in fact my Boss asked me out on a date one day after working at the museum. He called hours later to say he was sorry and that he was too busy for a social life. I was bummed but also relieved. I needed to focus on work without distractions.

Ramses II is one of the most famous Egyptian kings who ruled Egypt in its golden age. Jamie was the first person to take me to my first museum outing in Egypt. I barely left my home the months when I first arrived there. Jamie told me Ramses ll was the mightiest third pharaoh of the 19th dynasty of Egypt. King Seti gave the crown to Prince Ramses who turned to Ramses II. He gave him a house and harem, "prince of Egypt" Ramses participated in military campaigns with his father where he gained a solid military and kingship experience before he was a king. It all truly turned me into a history-buff.

Slowly standing up to leave, I knew I had to get to go shopping before my plans for tonight's gala started to take hold. My boss Moses hasn't called so I assume he's still asleep even though it is noon.

Placing my euros on the table beside my half-empty Mimosa glass I grabbed my sweater and turned for the street walk outside.

Paris was it's normal busy-beauty.

I couldn't help but remember the day Enzo and I first visited together. It seemed so long ago. Certainly another lifetime.

Just as the light flashed for the walk-way I stepped over a small puddle from the day before and instantly was startled by a loud car beep.

"BONNIE!" A tone I never heard before caught my waist fast. Jerking me back into strong arms, like a magnet.

My gaze is drawn upwards after we fall together.

His heartbeat, bump bump bump rapidly out of his chest matched mine.

Tan skin, low cut black hair and dark brown eyes behind eye glasses.

"En- Angelo?" I breathed in shock.

I can smell him. The pine of his soap and something else underneath, dark and good and clean. "Are you alright? That was a close call, you could have been seriously hurt or worse."

He straightens and pulls me up alongside him, his fingers creating a trail of goosebumps across my arm.

"Jee, right.. I could be dead huh." I mocked glancing around the now crowded curb we stood on.

"Oh great, I brought a crowd." I muttered. "It's fine. I'm fine. See?" I say dusting myself off, then running my fingers through my hair.

"Bonnie? Are you sure you're alright?" Angelo asked.

I just needed to get away from this embarrassing stage at once.

"I'm great, I have to go." I rushed across the street, watching for cars. "I have to go find a dress for the gala."

"No, Bonnie. Wait. You seriously need to take a second." He followed close beyond.

"No, I can't. I have a very important night, a little scratch is nothing."

"That definitely was beyond a scratch you could have been killed." He says in a panic tone.

"Well I wasn't, so thanks for the knight and shiny armor save -now you can leave." I say then paused where I walked.

Angelo's arm held onto my back as if he was holding me up. "Come at least take a seat." His willowy aura of elegance about him, was sweet and his confidence he wore it so naturally like a cosmetic eyeliner yet I had a right to be suspicious of him.

"How- What are you doing here?" I stood narrowing my eyes. "You were in Virginia. I left after I couldn't get in touch with Damon. I told you that's all I would do."

"I know, and I also know you would want to know more about Enzo. He was your –"

"Enzo is dead. He died. I can't care about his past right now, I have a job that I love and a charity that makes me happy. I will not involve myself in whatever you are actually after." I say cutting him off.

"Bonnie, please. I know you don't know me at all, but I need your help."

I shook my head. "No. No. Sorry, Whatever your past is -is none of my business."

"I believe it is." He whispers.

"Look, I know you're not here because you love drinking chocolate liqueur in front of the Eiffel Tower. I won't help you do anything else, now go find another witch." I ordered.

"Bonnie, this is more than my need for your gifts."

"Then what? What do you want? What are you doing in Paris? How did you find me?"

Angelo sighed, glancing around then ushered me to sit down on a bench.

"A medium… then a witch… and of course google maps." He grinned. "I know this is probably the last thing.." He says in a more serious tone. "I should never ask this of you- and I didn't know if Mystic Falls was still your home or not."

"It's not." I noted.

"A few years ago I found a diary of a Huntress by the name of Emmalynn Bennett," He took a small journal out of his pocket. "I believe her and her sisters were originally the Bennett Witches who created the spell of the vault and continued to add to Emily Grimoire. Meaning they was very talented and powerful. It even seems as if they were mentored by Dalton. I believe you can help me not only find out Lorenzo's past but mine as well." He says with a plead that tug at my stupid-heart strings.

If he is purely Enzo's family... It didn't hurt to find out.

His desperation is sadden, in a lost puppy dog type of way.

I exhaled. He wasn't going to leave me alone until I helped him.
