Dean Winchester II Pov
*Back In The Past*
It was sunrise, and no one else was in sight.
Resting just a bit from carrying Joseph through the woods, not so far from us the bang of a shotgun was in the air.
"Gunfire, we have to go the opposite way." I say, standing from the ground.
"Now?" Joseph asked.
"Yes, the witches are near." I say rush to keep moving. Placing his arm around my neck, I wrapped my right arm around his back to carry him. "I have a feeling your brother Samson and his buddy Enderson are waiting to hear from his wife before moving to handle the Wendigo."
"Ah.. What do you mean?" He asked, limping as I walked us west of the forest.
"You say her name is Joanna-Scarlett Harvelle?"
"Yes.. but ah… legally they weren't wed- they parted ways days before they were due to move north. My brother Samson told me."
I narrowed my eyes confused. "What happened? Did Enderson forget to file the papers?"
"Well.. ah yes. He had his hands full with hunting crusades to remember to go to the town church records center. How did you know?"
I shrugged a bit. "It happens more often than one would think. Not to mention hunter's marrying each other always end badly." I noted.
"Oh I don't know. Joanna is quite tough. Not to mention the brains.. she should have become a doctor."
"What about you?" I asked curious.
"Me?"
"Yeah. You know, if you weren't into hunting crusades." I say to him, continuing to travel through the trees.
"Um.. to be honest, I have thought about it a lot."
"You sure? So you haven't thought about if you were to quit hunting and be normal, what occupation or profession you would like to take on?" I asked and suddenly the sound of crushing leaves caught our attention.
Looking towards our right it stood there, the powerful monsters that have a desire to kill and eat their victims. It stood tall, stern and hostel.
Tossing Joseph to the ground fast without saying a word, it screamed at me and with all my might I super punched it, then spun a kick in its face. "Aya!" I yelled.
It bounced back and I gave it another punch and grunt.
Looking at this thing was terrifying.
It screamed again knocking me to the ground hard and it then went for Joseph. "Run!" I yelled struggling to my feet dizzy.
Suddenly jumping from the brushes was a brown skin 5'6 girl in a knight-gown with a long knife swinging down through the monster's neck.
Out of breath, I glared over at her and the anger in her eyes freighted me.
She didn't look at me. She only glared down. Eyes never left the monster's head as if it was going to pull itself back together.
Not saying a word to neither Joseph nor myself.. The girl bent down to grab the Wendigo's head and body, slowly disappearing the way she came.
Something told me she was going to burn that monster's aches and everything around it. She was one of the Huntresses that Joseph mentioned.
I wasn't sure how long I was on the ground in shock, but it was Joseph who spoke first, limping to his feet.
"Well… I.. I was always interested in reports, or a town sheriff." He says, out of nowhere continuing our conversation that was starting before the Wendigo appeared.
I cleared my throat wrapping his arm around my neck, then laughed shaking my head.
"Right.. Yeah, I can see you in Law enforcement."
"Certainly?" He asks with hope in his tone.
"Oh-yeah. Definitely like some… western Texas Ranger." I nodded.
Joseph smiled.
"Perhaps once the witch Naysa helps me get home… you could ask her out or something." I suggested it to him.
"Ah… What do you mean?" He asked and almost forgot I was back in the 1800's.
"Right… um, You could… how do you say.. Court her?"
"Ohh." He says low and hesitates.
"You like her don't you? You think she's fancy?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
He laughed with a shoulder shrug.
"Ah.. well.. What- who knows how she would… you know.. Reply. She poisoned me."
"Yeah-though… that's called breaking the ice. You should talk with her when all of this is over. I mean the way you talked about her at the cabin was… pretty clear y'all had a moment."
"A moment?"
I nodded. "Yeah… like she… fancies you as well."
"Hmm.." Was all he said.
"Oh I know. My wife Cassa does it all the time. It's like tug of war. They push, you pull."
"How so?"
"Ah.. you see.. It's all a facade and game. They pretend to be upset or annoyed then when you come back and plead to hope for things to be better by expressing your fondness.. Then they forget all about it." I stated. "Like if I make it home… I have to give up the search… for the …Baozhu and take her to Canada."
"The what?" He asked, confused.
"Baozhu… it's... It's one of eight ancient Chinese treasures. I-It's a pearl that grants wishes. Well, technically it's supposed to give you "what your heart desires." I clarified.
"Oh."
"Such as… I wanted to have my family that passed away to be with me again." I say thinking of my father, mother and uncle that I never met. "I love my wife Cassa, and our twins. She has her mother .. but I no longer have my father. He died, and years ago before I was born his brother died. I .. I don't really have anyone." I admitted.
As we slowed to a stop Joseph grabbed onto a tree as if he was in pain.
"Are you alright?" I asked.
He pulled at his heart. "Sorry, I don't think I can.. go on… you should go find Naysa." As he slumped to the dirt I slid down beside him.
"No way.. I'll stay here with you. I can't leave you to fend for yourself." He was too young to be having a heart attack.
"You… if you find my brother… Samson... you have to tell him.. I'm sorry."
I shook my head. "No. No way. You're going to come and do that yourself."
"No, I.. I feel you came here for a reason… to help me." He says weakly.
Now that Wendigo is dead… I thought it was my time to return home.. But now I have to find the witch to heal Joseph then she can send me home.
I thought of Cassa. "Like fate…" I muttered looking up to the sunny sky.
"Samson was right… I wasn't ready when I first came to this town. .. now I think I am.." He started closing his eyes.
"Joseph?" I panicked.
