Author's Note: I know most of these I've been doing are more like character pieces than mini-fics, I think i'm stuck on the TM side of my brain but i've got over 90 more fics to get out so hey, deal.

For a long time she thought the world was black and white. One day it all got changed to shades of grey and that wasn't even when she first became a slayer. Knowing people (respectively) like Angel and Oz did that to her perspective. Even after that though evil always seemed so clear; she found that it wasn't always monsterbad & peoplegood, hell some of the worst evil she'd faced had been human. It became evilbad and that seemed simple for a while, until it got so hard to see the evil.

It's not like she'd always been able to stick to that either. She hadn't been able to kill Angelus, or Willow who had been only temporarily evil. The line was so blurry all the time that she barely knew which way to look anymore.

Buffy wasn't in the business of ethics or questioning the moral nature of what she did. She never wanted to explore her own darkness to find the true nature of the slayer or to understand the inner workings of the evil things she fought against. She came about exploring her darkness in other, more self destructive ways. She'd left pysch behind for a reason, of course Dr. Walsh turning out to be a psychotic freak bent on creating the perfect human/demon hybrid weapon did have something to do with that decision.

The big bad had always been so clear in the end. If she were forced to make a list of enemies and friends the enemies would definitely be a lot longer. How many people had threatened her life? How many vampires had decided they were going to be the one to end Buffy Summers?

If she had to tell someone who she thought would have the biggest grudge against her it'd take her a while to suss it all out. She'd have to ask questions like 'Does Angel still have his soul?' and 'Did Spike go crazy again?' or even 'Does Cordelia still blame me for every bad thing that ever happens in her life?' And you can't leave out 'Does Faith still hold a grudge about that whole gutting her thing?'

She thought it was sad that there were fundamental questions that needed to be addressed if she made a list of enemies. Who would want to hurt her the worst?

It was ironic that the answer was far simpler than she was willing to give it credit to. Buffy Summers' worst enemy was herself.
