The One where Sonic wins the Obstacle Course Race!

Sonic left them no time to catch up.

The blue blur sped off the moment he was certain a majority of his classmates had gotten through the robot horde safely.

He nearly had a heart attack when both shark teethed teens were crushed under one of the large robots. Luckily they both had quirks which hardened their bodies. They had to be related, it was too uncanny.

Focusing on the obstacles ahead Sonic skid to a stop.

A large crater, with a drop so deep he couldn't see the bottom, stopped him in his tracks. Stone platforms connected to each other via rope were the only clear way to get across. The hedgehog decided to take his time with this one, it wouldn't be fun if he finished the whole race in a few seconds.

"SO THE FIRST BARRIER WAS A PIECE OF CAKE? HOW ABOUT THE SECOND? FALL AND YOU'RE OUT! YOU GOTTA CRAWL ACROSS IF YOU WANNA MAKE IT!" Present Mic's loud voice echoed out across the field.

"THIS IS THE FALL!" Sonic grinned wildly, God was this place fun. Repeating the same move as before, the blue hedgehog built up momentum. Launching himself from platform to platform.

Sonic observed the tactics of a few of his classmates. Todoroki, or half and half as referred to by the ash blonde kept screaming so viciously, used his ice to slide across the ropes with ease. Iida, Sonic's fellow speedy companion had done something similar, using his engines to push himself along the ropes whilst doing what Sonic could only describe as a T-pose.

The sound of an explosive shook Sonic from his thoughts. He skid to a halt, waving his arms to regain balance, he'd nearly fallen off the platform! Looking back to see who nearly cost him this race, Sonic paled.

Bakugou had sent a fucking explosion in some attempt to knock the hedgehog out of the running. The ash blonde male in question nearing Sonic at explosive speeds.

Sonic gave a shaky grin before taking off again, this time focusing completely on the race. He'd rather not confront the explosive mess that was Bakugou right now.

If he had managed to hit the hedgehog, Sonic would have gone barreling off the side of the platform into the deep pit beneath him. He would rather not find out what the bottom looked like.

When the hedgehog finally made it to the end of the second obstacle Present Mic's voice complimented him once more. He couldn't help but throw a wink and a cheeky grin at the camera.

"AND OUR LEADER HAS REACHED THE FINAL BARRIER!" Sonic stopped short of the final obstacle. Something wasn't right. He immediately noticed the outlines of some sort of flat disc in the dirt. Sonic recognized those.

"THIS MINEFIELD! IT'S A DEADLY AFGHAN CARPET!" The blue blur smiled when his hypothesis was correct. Easy peasy~ All he'd have to do is outrun the explosives' blasts. That he could certainly do.

Ignoring the rest of Present Mic's commentary, Sonic began clearing his path to victory. Easily outrunning the explosions from the landmines. Real or fake it didn't matter. It was all so very easy for the blue blur.

A loud boom nearly deafened Sonic, as an explosion nearly clipped his side. Followed by ice spikes nearly causing the hedgehog to slip. He'd been unable to hear their approach over the sounds of the explosions he was setting off.

Both Bakugou and Todoroki were on his tail, and at the looks of it wanted him dead. Sonic grinned, this was an interesting development. At that, he decided to go on the offensive.

Sticking his tongue out at the two males, Sonic began running backwards. Bakugou, enraged, fired off a powerful explosion. Using it to propel himself forwards in an attempt to kick the blue hedgehog to kingdom come.

Sonic caught his kick, surprising the male, and spun around with the ash blonde's leg still in a firm hold. Throwing Bakugou back in the direction he came from with glee. The rabid, guttural screech the male emitted causing the hedgehog to snicker.

Bakugou had used his explosions to regain balance, but he had lost valuable field coverage. Turning his focus to Todoroki, he grinned.

"You want a piece of this too?" A louder, more powerful explosion caused Sonic to flinch. Looking past Todoroki, he worried Bakugou had come back with more bite. What he saw seemingly surprised everyone.

Midoriya. Sheepish, broccoli-looking Midoriya, had launched himself into the air at incredible speeds. Using the lindmines to his advantage. Although, Sonic could tell from the fearful look on his face that the boy had no idea how to continue his plan.

Sonic could help with that.

Midoriya flew overhead and Sonic turned back round to face the front. Speeding up, he set off more explosions then Todoroki or Bakugou would know what to do with. Easily catching up to Midoriya.

Midoriya looked at the hedgehog, teary eyed, and Sonic gave him a thumbs up. Gesturing with his hands that he'd catch the flying boy. When Midoriya gave a nod of agreement, Sonic out his plan into motion.

As instructed the boy let go off the piece of scrap metal he had held onto. Sonic jumped, catching the boy in his arms. Midoriya worried he'd be unable to carry him, but the hedgehog waved it off. When his feet hit the ground, Sonic stopped limiting himself, slightly.

He reached the entrance into the stadium in the blink of an eye, carrying a frazzled Midoriya bridal style. Setting down the greenette, they both began a speedy jog into the stadium. Sonic slowing down to keep pace with a tired Midoriya.

When they emerged from the tunnel the crowd roared with amazement.

"WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT PEOPLE! IT'S A TIE!" Sonic smiled, he ensured that every footstep the duo took was in line. He never lost a race, and he wasn't starting now. When Sonic turned to face Midoriya, he shrunk back.

The boy had begun crying, an inhuman amount of tears. Sonic settled for patting him on the back, which only seemed to make the boy weep harder. It was alright he supposed, these were tears of joy.

The next people to emerge were Todoroki and Bakugou. Coming in second and third respectively.

Both were a mess, covered in dust and dirt. Bakugou glared daggers at the blue hedgehog and Sonic noticed him massaging his forearms. He'd note that down for later.

As time went on more people joined them in the stadium. Iida and a girl, who Sonic found out was called Uraraka, ran up to the both of them. Both excitedly complementing the duo. Although, Iida did chastise them for being rather reckless.

Sonic watched as more students entered. All, aside from two individuals, being from either hero class.

Maybe he should have helped the less experienced courses? That wouldn't show off their individual skills though. As Sonic struggled with his inner turmoil, Midnight interrupted his thoughts.

"So it's finally over. Let's check the results!" Another projection appeared. This time having the name and rank of everyone who qualified for the next round. It seems only forty two people qualified.

"The top forty two from this qualifying round will move on!" Midnight echoed his observation, "but for those who placed lower, don't worry! We've got another way for you to show your stuff!" Sonic sighed, relieved, that was great news.

"And now the main selection really begins!" Midnight continued, "The press corp's going to be jumping out of their seats, so give it all you've got!"

"Now, onto the second event! I already know what it is, of course…" she paused for effect, "Dying in suspense?! Next up is…"

"THIS!" The words 'Cavalry battle' were displayed in bold on the projection. Sonic tilted his head, confused.

What the hell was a cavalry battle? He looked around his fellow participants, all seemed a bit confused on how it would work. He overheard a girl, he had nicknamed her 'Froggy' in his mind, saying something about teaming up.

Luckily Midnight was there to give an example, "Participants will, on their own, form teams of two to four members and get into a horse-and-rider formation! The rules are fundamentally the same as those of an ordinary cavalry battle- snag your opponents' headbands while guarding your own. But with one exception…"

Sonic had zoned out of the rest of her explanation. He'd cross that bridge when he got to it. The crack of Midnight's whip startled him back to his senses and he listened in again.

"Our first place participants are both worth…"

"TEN MILLION POINTS!" From what Sonic gathered from Midoriya's reaction, the poor boy had nearly shat himself with surprise. So the both of them were worth ten mil? That means they'll both have to fend off hordes of other students. Thrilling.

All eyes were on the duo, Midoriya trembling and Sonic revelling in the attention. This would be easy. The only problem would be getting some teammates he could work with. Maybe he should go with one of the non hero course kids.

"The higher ranked students are the ones to aim for! This game is a chance for a comeback!" Midnight cracked her whip again. "IT'S ANYONE'S GAME!"

To be continued…

Fun Fic Fact!

From his race and attitude alone, Sonic has gained a cult following in a short amount of time! He's so popular already! Good job, Sonic!

A/N- Here's the link to all of Sonic's clothing outfits! (/6sIf28c)

Only six, excluding the school uniforms (/3K1QYd5). I did my best to capture my opinion of what Sonic would wear, being sporty and stuff. Hope you like what I designed! You can check out the Pinterest board if you wish! (though it'll spoil Shadow's ref)

I didn't sleep. I passed out halfway through writing this chapter, so it's a bit late lmao.

Wishing You all an early Merry Christmas! ~ Cickle
