Hi, everyone!
I'm glad to be back with another chapter. Thank you, quintawrites, for proofreading! :D Thanks to everyone who has reviewed this story as well.
Hopefully the next update will be sooner but I can't make any promises. I have not forgotten my stories though.
Have a good day!
Love,

"So this is where you're living now?" Cable asked listlessly. She was trying to embrace the curiousity and fun that normally came so easily to her, but the ache in her head was making it difficult. She was trying to follow Dr. Bull up the stairs to his apartment, but it was so far and her head was so heavy. At first she had scoffed at Dr. Bull's assertion that carrying her bags on her own would be too difficult, but now she was grateful that he had taken them off of her. Her body was heavy enough.
"Yes," Dr. Bull answered. He turned around and smiled encouragingly. "It's just one more flight, Cable. We're almost there."
"Why ... did you want ... to live on the top ... of a building?" she groused, dragging herself to follow him. Most days she would think that living at the very top of what was clearly an impressively expensive apartment building was cool, but today it seemed like a personal insult.
"No noisy young adult neighbours stomping over my head," he quipped back. "Do you need me to help you, Cable?"
"No!" she snapped. "I'm fine."
"Hey, it was an offer. No need to bite my head off," Dr. Bull corrected firmly.
Cable just glared at his back. "My head's already been bit off!"
"It wasn't my fault," Bull replied calmly.
"You're the one who made me go to that college!" she wailed in frustration. All logic was out the window at this point and she just wanted to be at home, in bed.
Not that she truly had a home. She had lived in various dorms and seedy apartments for the last few years, depending on the season. Those were hardly "home". She had not been in touch with her family - aside from a letter Dr. Bull had forced her to write when she first came to New York with him a couple months ago - since the day before her eighteenth birthday, so that was out. There was no where to claim as home. It was a lonely world in which to be alone.
"Sorry for caring about your future," Dr. Bull replied sarcastically. "And I didn't force you to participate in a snowball fight. That's what caused this. Why were you having a snowball fight in March anyway? All that's left is sludge!"
At that perceived blame being placed on her, Cable started crying. It was not like she had tried to hit her head on that concrete post. Her final memory before blacking out was trying not to! She did not like Dr. Bull being annoyed at her on a good day - although she was normally the one who gleefully goaded him into that state of mind - but now, while her head throbbed like an amp turned to the highest level, she could not handle it at all.
The tears were silent but Dr. Bull, pausing on the steps to check on her progress once again, noticed and came back, putting his free arm around her while carrying her luggage in the other.
"It's okay, Cable. We're going to be there in ... let's say, twenty steps. Then you can lie down and have some more pain meds if you need them. You'll be okay. I'll make sure of it."
The gentle reassurance, as well as the comforting, strong arm around her helped her gather enough strength to slowly finish making her way to his apartment. Once he swung open the door, she pushed past and stumbled to the nearest place she could see to lie down - a leather sofa across from a window. The light made her head hurt worse, but the relief in lying down was worth it.
Dr. Bull went over and closed the blinds without her having to say a single word. He got the pain meds for her too, along with a glass of water, but by the time he reached her side, she was already asleep.
