Chapter 2: "Who are you?"
Great Hall, 1996
James and Remus landed in the Great Hall, cursing as they fell to the ground. Sirius
reached down to give them a hand up.
"Thanks," Remus said as Sirius pulled him to his feet.
"I don't think the potion worked, Padfoot," James said, looking around. "Everything
feels the same and . . . " he looked at his watch, "time isn't passing any faster."
"Well, you can't always get it right on the first try," Sirius replied. "Let's head back
up to the common room and try to fix it."
The three boys had completely forgotten about Lily, but they realized her presence
when she suddenly shouted out, "I will never drink one of your foul potions again, Black!"
and she marched off toward the marble staircase.
"What's her problem?" James asked as the three of them headed off after Lily,
laughing about the experience.
"Who knows," Sirius said, rolling his eyes. "So what do you guys think went wrong?"
"You mean other than the fact that you did very little research before brewing this
potion, and you can't even remember what you put in it or what your steps were?" Remus
asked with a smile.
"I'm not sure, Padfoot," James replied. "But I do know one thing; that tasted
horrible!"
"Well sorry," Sirius said. "I can't get everything perfect. I'm a potion maker, not a
chef!"
"You got nothing right, Padfoot," Remus laughed as they reached the portrait of the
Fat Lady.
"Horse feathers," James said the password.
"Sorry, dear, that's not it," replied the Fat Lady. "No password, no entrance."
"They didn't change it today," Remus said, sounding worried. "I would know if they
did,
since I'm a prefect."
Suddenly they heard running footsteps behind them. As they turned, they saw Lily
racing toward them.
"There you guys are," she said, catching her breath. "I swear they've added some
staircases."
"Hey Evans, guess what?" Sirius said. "The password doesn't work."
"It doesn't?" she replied. "It worked this morning. Oh, this is so not good!"
At that point, the portrait swung forward and three people climbed out.
"Hey, fellow Gryffindors!" Sirius burst out. "Be pals and tell us what the password is,
will ya?"
"Ummm, sorry but, who are you?" asked the girl with bushy brown hair, "I've never
seen you before."
"Well, I'm James Potter. This is Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Lily Evans."
The girl and one of the boys, with red hair and freckles, burst out laughing. The other
boy, who had messy black hair and green eyes, just stared with his mouth slightly open.
"Come on," the redhead laughed. "Who are you, seriously?"
"Was that pun intended?" Sirius asked, grinning his famous smile.
"No," the girl replied. "Just tell us who you really are!"
"We told you!" Sirius said, the smile fading from his face.
"That's not funny anymore!" the girl said. "You're just doing this to upset Harry,
aren't you? He's already lost three people who mean a lot to him, and he doesn't
need you to rub it in and to make him feel worse. So I'm going to tell you right now,
Buster, just shut it, ok? Just leave him alone!"
"Wait, Hermione," said the black-haired boy, finding his voice at last. "Unless those
are really good costumes, I think they're telling the truth. I mean, it's not like they could
use Polyjuice Potion, is it?"
"You really think so?" asked the girl named Hermione, sounding skeptical.
"Yeah," the boy replied. "Oh, Sirius!" and he rushed to Sirius and hugged him, obviously
not thinking.
"Wait a sec, who are you?" Sirius asked. "And get off me!" He pushed the boy away.
"Sorry," the boy replied. "I'm just so happy to see you again."
"I think we can see that," James said. "And for the second time, who are you?"
At this point, the black-haired boy was speechless, so the redhead covered for him.
"I'm Ron Weasley, that's Hermione Granger, and that's. . . ."
"I'm Harry. Harry Potter."

I would thank my reviewers right now, but I'm not really sure who has reviewed (it says I
have 5 reviews, but when you click on it, it says no reviews. Can you tell I'm not good with
technology?). So whenever I find out who reviewed, I'll put my thanks and comments into
