Realising mistakes.

Kate McCallister stood on the balcony of the hotel room. She was crying.

"Mom?"

She turned to see Kevin walking towards her.

"You should be in bed, Sweetie."

"I thought you would be beating yourself up about it."

"About what?"

"Your parenting mistakes."

Kate sighed "What kind of mother am I, leaving you behind?"

"Hey, there was a lot of kids. You were late, mom. Both times."

"It's not an excuse, Kevin."

Kevin smiled "At least your not purposely mean. You're just really bad at listening."

Kate sighed "About the play incident... sweetie, I'm sorry. I shoud have listened to you and looked into it." She looked at him "How many times has he lied?"

"Too many to count." Replied the nine-year-old "And I did injure a teacher. It was an accident, but i still did."

"He's grounded forever."

Both of them laughed. When they had calmed down, Kate sighed.

"Kevin, I want to be a better mother. Can you tell me everything I did wrong? i want to improve."

"You crossed thousands of miles just to take care of me. Twice."

"I still want to improve."

Kevin went inside, passed his 'How to be mature' book and grabbed a long, long sheet of paper. And a pen.
