"The moon, it is red tonight, how fitting of my situation" I thought as I lay on the ground. I lift my hand from my gut, gazing upon the crimson liquid that covered it. "fuck" I said out loud, clearly in shock because I can't feel a thing. I gaze back at the sky, lost in thought, struggling to recall what had happened that led to this point, laying on the ground in a pool of my own blood.
It was them. Those… "gods", who think themselves so, powerful, absolute, above all. They sat back and watched, watched as their kids put their lives on the line to save their precious thrones. They caused all of this. The titan war, our war with the giants, all of it, it was THEM. They couldn't stand the thought of losing power, and after "The 7" beat the giants, they believed us too powerful. They invited us to Olympus, The Heroes of Olympus they called us. what a load of crap.
Flashback
We approached the Empire State Building, which as you all may or may not know by now, isn't what it seems. We approach the man at the desk, "600th floor please" I said impatiently having dealt with this guy shit too many times to count. "Kid there is no-" he looked up and saw a group of young adults with orange and purple shirts "I'm sorry here you go hero" he said sarcastically to me, we all look at each other confused but we enter the elevator with the newly gotten key and head up. I lean over to Annabeth "what do you think he meant by that wise girl?" I asked, she said nothing, just that blank calculating stare with furrowed eyebrows. She is clearly lost in thought, but this is nothing new she's always been like that since before we got together. I sigh and continue the elevator ride, and as it dings the doors open to the "great Mount Olympus" whatever, we've seen this place so many times its lost the ability to awe strike me.
The doors to the throne room open. I expected applause, since we, you know, saved the world, me for the second time by the way. but instead, what I saw were serious faces surrounding us, well save Hestia and surprisingly Artemis, who had faces that resembled gratitude. "My heroes" said the man in the middle, King of the gods and my uncle, Zeus, "we invited you here today to celebrate your return, and victory in this war" he continued "you truly did what we gods could not. Leo, son of Hephaestus, Piper daughter of Aphrodite, Frank, son of mars, Hazel, daughter of Pluto, Annabeth, daughter of Athena, Jason, son of Jupiter, and Percy son of Poseidon. You all, almost, single handedly stopped the war and saved Olympus, and for that we are thankful" he put a little too much emphasis on "almost" than I would have liked but we all bowed our heads respectfully, nonetheless. Zeus continued on, "and with everything you all have done for us we thought you deserved, recompence, for the pain you have been put through, SO. We all thought that we would offer the same offer that had been placed on the table after the great titan war. We offer, godhood" Almost all of the seven smiled gratefully, well save me. I had been through this before and thought I made it clear last time I was not interested in godhood, I just wanted to live a simple and peaceful life with annabe- "We accept" I hear from the person to the left, it was Annabeth. I looked at her surprised by her lack of hesitation, I looked over and saw the rest of them nodding their heads. I looked at my hands, they were shaking, I felt so…betrayed. I looked up at the gods, smiling, they certainly looked grateful, especially my dad. He looked so proud, I glanced at my hands again steadily clenching them, then I spoke
"Lord Zeus, I'd like to continue being mortal if you don't mind" Gods if I were to drop a pin right now, I'm fairly sure I could hear it from the streets of New York. "Mr. Jackson, I don't think you realize what you're doing" Zeus said. "Please my son reconsider." said my dad. I looked to my left, Annabeth, all of them looked so heart broken. I looked up and my eye instinctively looked towards Artemis, all she did was stare, with those silver eyes of hers… "lord Zeus I truly appreciate the offer, it was very kind of you to offer it to me not once but twice, but, I truly believe that I will only truly live my life if I'm allowed to grow old, make mistakes, get hurt, I don't want to give up on what make me human" I glanced at Annabeth, her hand was clenched and tears welled up in her eyes. "How amusing" I looked back to Zeus; he did not look amused. "you say that you want to live your life to the fullest, yet you disrespect me not once but twice, you disappoint your father and all the other gods here not once, BUT TWICE?!" he stood up appearing in full battle gear, the master bolt in hand, I look at my dad but he just sits there, no emotion or anything, like I wasn't even his son "YOU Percy Jackson, disappoint me" without warning he threw the bolt at me, a barely had time to flinch when suddenly I heard the sound of a coin being flipped and before I knew it Jason was in front of me with his spear drawn ready to block, before I could even move, try to push him out of the way, do something ANYTHING…he was incinerated, instantly. His coin rattled on the ground I fell to my knees picking it up. Everything was quiet, dull, this ringing in my ear not stopping.
I glanced up, at Zeus, My Dad, Hades, they did not even bat an eye. I looked over and saw Piper on her knees crying unable to do anything but weep. Suddenly everyone got into battle stances, Annabeth pulled me up, yelling at me to get ready. but… I could not, this was my fault, I should've just taken the deal, I heard the sounds of the other gods flashing their armor on, some looked sad some looked very glad that they were getting the chance to take a swing at us, at me, all except Artemis and Hestia, who stood there unable to do anything. At least they were on my side. Annabeth held up her dagger, only to be run through the side by Athena, her own mother, slaughtering her where she stood, frank was shot through the head by his dad, Piper, decapitated by her mom, Leo bludgeoned, hazel slashed through the gut by a skeletal hound, such horrendous displays of filicide, and I was frozen. it was all my fault, all my fault. I looked over at Annabeth's lifeless corpse, her blood pooling at my feet. I stood up and yelled, riptide was already in my hand when I took a slash at the gods around me, unable to contain my rage I continued to fight at them, slashing, stabbing, parrying, blocking whatever they threw at me, I wasn't sure what was happening but time seemed to slow down, I could see everything happening, sense what they were going to do next, it was a 1vs8 fight and I was somehow winning, but I didn't care about the sudden boost in strength all I cared about was killing the bastard who killed my friends, my Annabeth. When suddenly, I was launched through the air, crashed threw the doors to the throne room, thrown all the way to the edge of Mount Olympus. I coughed up blood and looked down, a trident, looking up I saw my dad, standing there, he gave me a disappointed look as he yanked the trident out of my stomach, causing me to scream, only to choke when I was suddenly lifted by the throat. "Why didn't you take the offer my son, we could have ruled Atlantis together, all you had to do was say, yes, So-" he squeezed harder "WHY". I choked, he released his grip enough to let me speak, "fuck you, you piece of shit" I spit in his eye, kicked his nuts, and I fell. I fell all the way off Olympus down to central park
Flashback end
Right, all my friends are dead. I began to sit up, only to realize every bone in my body was broken, "no shit you fell from the sky itself" I thought to myself, I looked around, to my left was a puddle with whatever strength I had left I reached for the puddle, it wasn't much but it might get me on my feet…hopefully. As the water was drained into my body, I felt a little stronger, I stood up and winced, yep still broken, but I can stand. I slowly began to limp away, wanting to be anywhere but here, leaving a small blood trail away.
