Jane stood in the doorway and studied Maura and Harry in silence. She didn't care about the cup of coffee in her hand getting cold as she leaned against the doorframe and enjoyed the scenery in front of her. Both were sitting at the table and playing scrabble. It was Harrys turn to lay down a word and Jane almost laughed when seeing fierce eyes focusing on the letters on the little rack in front of him.
Then he gave Maura a triumphant look as he laid out a long word. "That makes 155 points!" he stated satisfied, and Jane almost laughed when Maura's face turned pale. "Must be hard to be beaten by your 9-year-old son." Jane teased as she moved into the room. She sat down after giving Maura a chaste kiss, still unsure whether it was okay in to kiss her in front of Harry or not.
Maura sensing her insecurity pulled her closer for a proper one. "Good morning." She said and smiled. Jane glanced at the clock on the wall to see that it was almost 10 am. "You were exhausted and needed the sleep." Maura said as if reading her mind. Jane nodded before taking a sip from her cup.
She had been exhausted indeed. Yet she felt the strange pull to enjoy every possible minute with Harry and Maura before they had to go back to work. It was as if she had missed out on so much and was now trying to catch up. She felt a gentle hand touching hers which was resting on the mug and glanced up to find Maura's warm eyes on her. The smile came easily, and she nodded at her what? She paused to look for the right word. Lover? No, Maura was more than that. Their fingers entwined and she felt Harry push into her free arm to join them.
"I won!" he stated proudly, and Jane chuckled. "Looks like you did buddy." She cheered with him. Was this what it was like to have a family she wondered as she tried to recall her parents when she had been Harry's age. She couldn't. There was the faint memory of them being like that as a family when she was very young. But the most preeminent memories in her mind were about her parents fighting and the pain and fear she had felt, when she had heard them yelling at each other through the thin bedroom walls.
She tried to shake off the dark shadows and refocused on Maura and Harry. She ruffled through his hair and squeezed Maura's hand. "Hungry?" Maura asked and slipped her hand out of Janes after squeezing back. "We still have pancake dough. It's your mother's recipe. She gave it to me after making me swear to keep it to myself." Maura wiggled her eyebrows while chuckling.
"She did?" Jane scrunched up her nose. "She would never give it to me." She feigned offence.
"That's because you don't cook!" Angela's voice came through the hallway. Jane cringed slightly.
"Why are you still in your pj's?" her mother asked accusingly, and Jane cringed even more. Jane noticed how Harry followed the exchange with interest while hiding the fact that he too was still wearing the PJ pants by pushing his legs under the tablecloth.
"It's Sunday Ma!" Jane exclaimed. "The question is rather why you're here." Jane quickly turned to Maura to shoot her an: you didn't give her a key to your house glance. Maura slightly shook her head.
"The door was open. There was no need to knock and interrupt you." Angela nonchalantly said, while placing two grocery bags onto the kitchen counter. "I thought that it would be great to have the family dinner here, don't you? Maura is family now." She added and gave Maura a hug as she passed the doc who looked as helpless as Jane felt.
"Its not a problem, is it?" Angela asked as she walked on to one of the pantries to check its content and Maura who was raised to be polite shook her head and smiled. "Of course not Angela." She replied. Jane couldn't help but to feel slightly deceived. Of course, it was ridiculous, but she had somehow looked forward to have one more entire day to accommodate to the situation of having a son and a girlfriend without the Rizzoli clan mingling into their life.
"I have to go back to my car and get a few more things." Angela said and asked Harry for help. The boy was happy to do so and jumped of his seat forgetting about his PJ pants. "Maybe we should get you dressed up." Jane said but Angela waved her off. "Let him! Its Sunday." She said before walking off. The brunette huffed and raised her hands.
"Yeah, but I get scolded." She mumbled while glancing down at herself which made Maura laugh. "She's going to spoil him rotten." Jane said which made Maura laugh harder. "Its okay Jane. That's what grandmothers are for." A sad look crossed the docs face briefly and Jane could only imagine that Maura hadn't had such luck to have a grandmother like Harry had found in Angela.
She silently reached out for Maura's hand to squeeze it. Then she pulled the petite into a hug. "You're right. We should let them be. I'm sorry for being so selfish." The last words were whispered to Maura's ears. Jane quickly placed a kiss on Maura's cheek before pulling away. They heard Angela and Harrys voices coming closer again and the detective still felt shy about displaying affection to Maura in public.
There was understanding in the hazel eyes as she caught them before turning to see Harry hopping back into the room. He was holding another grocery bag in one hand and a wrapped present in the other. "Look Jay! I've got a present!" he exclaimed excitedly, and Maura and Jane chuckled.
"Spoiled rotten!" she whispered with a chuckle towards Maura who slapped her lightly onto her forearm. "Lets unwrap it, shall we?" the petite said and Jane walked towards Angela to help her carry a few more bags. She already wanted to comment on the amount of food but held back after realizing that Angela too wanted to spent time with her grandson. She too had missed out for almost 10 years. She held back more sarcastic comments as she helped her mother unpack while watching her son – how strange it still sounded, and how proud she felt at the same time – unpack another miniature car.
Of course, she had to identify it right away. "I hope you don't already have it." Angela said pointing at the brand new car, sounding somewhat emotional. The boy shook his head and walked around the kitchen island to hug her. "Thank you!" he said and smiled at her. Angela visibly sniffed back a tear and smiled.
"We were just playing scrabble. Would you like to join us Angela?" Maura asked, pointing to the table. The matriarch hesitated for a moment.
"You can join my team!" Harry said excitedly, adding that he was winning. "Guess that leaves me to join your team." Jane said with a glance at Maura who laughed. "You've always been on my team Jay." The blonde replied with a wink and Jane felt an unknown warmth spread through her heart.
"Oh yeah?" she teased to hide her true emotions of feeling touched. But she knew that Maura would see right through it. The blonde bumped her shoulder against Jane and smiled. "Yes!" she said in a soft tone.
The four sat at the table and played the game for a little longer. Maura and Jane almost had their first fight, when Jane wanted to lay a word which according to the doc didn't exist. Maura almost disqualified themselves. But the fight stayed playful. They definitely gave a good show to Angela and Harry who ended up winning.
Jane was aware of the looks her mother stole at them whenever she felt that she was being unwatched. And she was also aware of the gentle smile that was tugging at Angela's corners of the mouth. Her mother was happy and so was Jane.
"I'm going to take a shower." She announced after they stood. Angela commented that it was about time, but that's just how they were acting with each other. Jane snarked back a comment and walked off with a grunt.
It wasn't long until she heard the bathroom door open, and Maura walk in. To her surprise though, Maura undressed and joined her in the shower. Jane felt the docs arms pull her into a hug. Then soft lips touching hers. "It has its advantages if Angela is here you know." She whispered to Jane who chuckled.
"You think so?" she replied cheekily after stealing another kiss from Maura. Her hands were already roaming over the petits body. "Wont they miss us?" Jane asked. "Oh, trust me, they are so emerged in talking and cooking that they most likely didn't notice how I sneaked away." The doc chuckled. They kissed again, deeper this time. And Maura opened her mouth to Jane's tongue.
The brunette felt how the petite pushed her against the wall of the shower stall and grinned into the kiss. She let Maura take control and moaned silently as Maura's hand came to touch her breasts. Her nipples hardened immediately under the thumbs that brushed over her nipples after weighting the small breasts in her hand.
Jane pulled Maura closer and made their bodies connect at the waist. Now it was Mauras turn to moan when she felt Janes hard penis against herself. "I love you." She whispered when Maura moved on to kiss her jawline while moving her hands over Janes abdomen.
"I love you too." The petite replied in between the small kisses she was leaving on her way to Janes ears. Jane felt her knees weaken at the ministrations. The doc was gentle and soft, and Jane had never felt so loved and safe. She realized that they were still young, and her heart jumped instantly when thinking that they had a lot of time ahead of them. She might have missed out on ten years, but it had probably been a good thing to be separated.
Both had evolved from some hormone thriven young girls into full women with good careers. They were both settled. Jane mused that they had needed the freedom of the separation to become what they were. Maura had been right. What if she had stayed for Jay? Of course, there would have been great opportunities for internships in the US as well. But still…. It had given them the possibility of focusing on their life's and their personalities. And Jane felt that this had only made the bond between them stronger.
Maura touched her hard member and she groaned. She already wanted to go inside. But it was Maura's turn to lead and Jane let her, enjoying every moment and every touch. Enjoyed as Maura led her dick to her wet core to take her in.
They probably spent almost an hour in the shower making love. And as they walked back to were Angela and Harry were chatting and laughing, Jane realized that Maura had probably been right when she had stated that they wouldn't even notice when they were gone.
That was until she caught a knowing glance from her mother which made her blush profusely.
