Deep within the forest, dimly lit by the beautiful setting sun bringing an orange hue to the sky above, lay a cuddling couple, basking in the presence of one another.

As the gorgeous orange light of the sun peeks through the windows of the modest log cabin, built well and clearly enhanced with magic so that the wood doesn't suffer from the forces of nature, the man, well known by the world as the great Sage smiles as his resting wife above him breathes softly with her eyes closed.

To an outsider it would look as though she's asleep, resting atop her lover and using him as her own personal pillow, the even beating of his heart acting as the perfect soother to put her in a tranquil state. Despite her sleeping appearance she was merely resting, enjoying the softer mood of today compared to other days.

Her husband had given her the most perfect anniversary ever, as he did every year, and as a result of that they had spent the entre day together today with the comfort of knowing their first born child was safe in the hands of the witch of Wrath.

The young half elf let out a wistful sigh as she lies atop the toned chest of the Sage.

Their bare chests rose and fell in perfect unison, their hearts beating as one as the orange sunset shone into the room, illuminating the silver haired beauty in a beautiful orange light.

The gorgeous colour made her look angelic as she lay atop him, staring him in the eyes, not hungry or lustful like she had done earlier, but rather peacefully and lovingly, as if he was the only thing in the world, the sole purpose for her life.

That's because he was. Without him she wasn't sure where she'd be, her demi human race made her feel out of place in the more human populated cities, even if there wasn't much racial tension elf's and other demi humans were still seen as less by most humans.

She repressed a shudder from the memories of the lustful leers of the old creeps at the bars around the country, the perverted comments, or worse yet when drunk men got a little too touchy with her.

She didn't necessarily fear for her life when she wandered the streets of Lugnica, rather she feared for her innocence's, her purity.

That was why she was so happy that Subaru suggested living in a forest, not far from other elven villages but also not particularly far from human civilisation either. This allowed the duo to do many things whenever they wanted.

Despite the relative closeness to other people, only being a short walk between places, their home was rather remote, unbothered by hunters and civilians alike, Satella just assumed that Subaru had cast some form of magic to make their humble log cabin in the woods safe for her and her family.

He was so sweet, she thought, blissfully basking in his presence as she looked down at him, smiling her softest smile as his hand toyed with her hair mindlessly, as if he were on auto pilot.

The wind blowing in the background made the moment all the more peaceful oddly enough.

The sound of nature had always been a welcoming sound to Satella, and over time it had been comforting to Subaru who often complained that his old house had been too noisy.

She rubbed her cheek to his soothingly, the thought of Subaru talking about his life prior to meeting her making her more protective of the young lad.

It was clear to her that there was a problem with his old life, one she hadn't quite gotten from him fully, but even if she didn't know entirely that wouldn't stop her from hugging her husband tightly when he's shivering in his sleep due to his nightmares.

She buried her face into his neck, smiling as his scent filled her nose, taking in soft breaths through her nose to get some more, before softly releasing her breath through her mouth, the soft sensation on his neck sending shivers down his spine.

Smiling in turn at his wife's actions he kissed the top of her head, not at all questioning his lovers strange burst of affection.

It wasn't at all unusual for Satella to be affectionate for no reason, its who she was after all.

"I love you." She murmured into his neck, her lips brushing against him as she gave his skin a gentle kiss before looking up at her lover and smiling.

"I love you too." He replied, the four words sending Satella's heart alight with passion.

She loved how he said it, the words she longed for for so long being said by a man she had genuinely loved more than her very own life.

She smirked as she crawled up his body looking down at him confidently as she leaned down and planted a passionate kiss upon her lover's lips, enjoying the feeling of his soft lips gently reciprocating.

Subaru smiled as she pulled away giving her a cheeky wink as he playfully wagged his finger in front of her face.

"Minerva will be here soon with Adhara, perhaps its time to get dressed my beloved." He said teasingly, poking at her sides playfully, making the sensitive woman shiver and giggle at his gentle touch.

"Meanie." She said with a smile as she giggled, swatting his hands away before getting off of her beloved, smiling at the way he said their shared pet name.

She was his beloved, and he was her beloved. It was such a simple, obvious fact, and yet every time she was reminded of it her heart skipped.

She truly was head over heels for the great sage.

She felt a pang of jealousy as she was reminded of the fact that she wasn't the only one swooning over the great sage, only for Subaru to realise her sudden mood change and give her a kiss making her blush softly as she was snapped back to reality.

As she gazed up at him, unfazed by his naked body being so close to hers, she smiled.

Many loved the great Sage, some loved the warlock of Envy, but she was the only one who was allowed to love Natsuki Subaru.

She shook her head softly at that, mentally chastising herself for her unnecessary worries.

Subaru smiled seeing her renewed joy, grasping her soft hand in his as he led her to their bedroom, smiling as her cheeks flushed and she became flustered.

"B-But Minerva." She stuttered with rosy cheeks, her amethyst eyes wide with a mix of excitement and reluctance.

Subaru laughed at her comment, letting go of her hand before shaking his head.

"Satella-Tan is such a pervert." He said matter of factly, wiggling his finger In front of the woman's face.

Satella blushed and pouted heavily, standing on her tip toes to get up in Subaru's face.

"No way mister! You're the pervert here, leading your naked wife to the bedroom in such a way, how perverse." She said smugly, mentally high fiving herself for a job well done as she pressed herself against her husband as if to tease him further.

Subaru blushed and looked away before rolling his eyes and opening his mouth to continue teasing the young half elf, only for the colour to drain from his face as a knock on the door interrupted their fun.

Feeling the words die in his throat Subaru looked to the door with a blush before yelling out that they'll be out in a second, rushing into the bedroom to quickly get changed.

Satella quickly followed the boy, hiding how flustered she was as she calmly dressed herself in a simple summer dress and leaving the room as Subaru looked for a suitable shirt.

Satella swung the door open with a smile, seeing her daughter look up at her with her large beautiful eyes. Satella had to repress a squeal as she swiftly took the child from the arms of the witch of Wrat, almost ignoring her friend entirely as she hugged her daughter close.

Minerva cleared her throat and raised an eyebrow at Satella.

"Nice to see you too, Satella." She said flatly, making the half elf blush in embarrassment as she looked toward the blonde with a shaky smile.

"H-Hey Minerva." She said, her voice almost sounding apologetic as she addressed the woman.

The witch of wrath smiled softly at her friend, giving the woman a hug as she gushed about how adorable Adhara was, and how well behaved she had been.

Subaru, having finally found a shirt, left the bedroom and smiled, inviting Minerva inside.

"Do you want any tea?" he asked the blonde, pulling out a chair for his wife and child with a smile.

"Are you the one making it?" she questioned with a smirk, making the man shrink in on himself slightly before puffing up pridefully.

"Yes ma'am!" he answered enthusiastically.

"Then no." Satella giggled as she heard the flat reply, Adhara mimicking her mothers actions as Subaru deflated slightly.

There was a long pause for a moment before Satella rolled her eyes, standing up and giving Adhara to Subaru before going to make tea.

"Be good for daddy sweetie I'll be back soon." She said softly, giving Subaru a kiss on the cheek as she went to the kitchen, leaving Subaru and Minerva to sit down at the table and converse with each other as they waited for their tea.

Subaru looked down to his child, playing with her hands as she rested softly in his hands, smiling softly at the adorable sight Minerva propped herself up with her hands.

"You three are cute together." She stated, her voice fond as Subaru's head rose at her comment. "It's sweet, really. I'm glad Satella could find somebody who makes her so happy." Subaru smiled at the woman's praise, turning his attention to the kitchen where his wife made tea with an expert level of confidence, humming and dancing to herself as she did so.

Subaru smiled at the sight before turning to Minerva. "She's amazing." He whispered gently, pure love in his tone as he smiled at his fellow authority holder.

"She is." Minerva agreed before leaning in so that Subaru could hear her clearly. "Keep her happy, Subaru. Being the Sage and a husband will be hard." She warned, genuinely concerned that Subaru would overwork himself.

The young man smiled at his friend. "Thanks for the concern, but I know where my priority's lie." His voice was firm, and yet soft as he looked down to the young child in his arms.

Minerva smiled, interested in the mans words as she rose an eyebrow.

"And where might that be?" she questioned rhetorically, she already knew the answer of course, but hearing it straight from him would ease her nerves.

She just wanted what was best for her friend, and Subaru could respect that, so he looked her in the eyes as he spoke to her, hoping to reassure her that her friend was in good hands.

"With my family." It sounded like the easiest question in the world to him, which to be fair it probably was. His family was everything to him after all.

Minerva smiled and nodded her head approvingly.

"I'm sure there are many people who wouldn't like that answer." She reached out a hand to gently play with Adhara's hair. "But it's the right one." She told the man, smiling softly as she saw Satella exit the kitchen, leaning to Subaru's ear to whisper to him.

"I know you'll take good care of her Subaru." She told him, placing her faith in the warlock of envy as she smiled at her best friend and thanked her for the tea.

Subaru smiled to himself. He hadn't anticipated that conversation, however Minerva's belief in him was strangely comforting. He knew out of anyone on this world other than himself she cared for Satella most, so for her to trust her to him meant a lot to him.

Satella sat down, pouring tea for everybody as she took Adhara and placed her in her highchair, feeding her an appa with a smile.

"We missed you soooooooo much Sweetie." She told the quarter elf, a soft blush on her cheeks as she turned to Subaru, her soft gaze making him smile as he gazed into her deep beautiful eyes.

The meaning of their staring wasn't at all missed by Minerva who smirked joyously.

"So, when are you expecting another one?" she questioned teasingly, making the married couple blush and turn their gazes away from one another.

"W-what?" they stuttered out together, making Minerva smile as she rose her eyebrows teasingly.

"Guess I'll have to buy more baby clothes, just tell me when you know it's a boy or a girl." She told them with a smirk, taking a smug sip of her tea before sighing. "It tastes as good as ever, thanks Satella."

The young half elf smiled at the compliment, feeding Adhara the last of the appa before turning to Minerva.

"S, how was Adhara without us?"
