Closing the door, "I'm home, my loves!", Peggy called out, and Steve halted, looking over to see Peggy, and Susan squealed, wiggled in his hands, reaching out with a giggle. Steve chuckled as he put her down, and Susan walked wobblily, heading straight for Peggy.

She has been practicing her toddling walk all this afternoon with Steve's help, and she has been succeeding slowly, and much to her happiness, this time, finally, she made it all the way across the living room to Peggy without falling back or forward.

"Look at you!", Peggy cried as she quickly picked up Susan. "Only a few months old and you're already walking!".

Steve chuckled, "It's the only thing she kept asking me to help her with ever since this morning, next to games and of course, the airplane playtime. Between bottles of milk and baby snacks, it was literally the only thing on her mind.", with a smile as he came to Peggy and Susan before kissing Peggy which earned Susan to giggle happily.

Peggy smiled, "Wow...Did you practice with Daddy just for me?", and Susan clapped her hands, nodding, and Steve smiled, "She was literally on all cogs, firing up her stubborn side. Are you happy, Sue-P?".

Susan smiled gummily, babbling happily, and then pointed to the dining room, making hungry noises, and Peggy chuckled, "Yes, let's go enjoy dinner, my little miracle. Let's see how Daddy did with the food. It smells marvelous, and I bet it will even taste more delicious!", walking on with Steve following by.

"Well, I've certainly tried my best.", Steve chuckled as Peggy walked up to kiss him on the cheek. "You always do great with the food, luv.", she smiled.

Steve smiled, "Why, thank you, my queen.", as they came into the dining room where there's a spread of food in heaps. With Susan seated in the baby booster chair, to enjoy her special puree food, the couple dug in.

Naturally, the food was perfect, and the family ate heartily, with Susan begging for a dance afterwards when she walked to the radio, learning how to wobblily dance with assistance of her parents, with Peggy and Steve smiling happily to see Susan enjoying the fun after the morning she had.

Eventually, Susan got all tuckered out, exhausted after all the fun and drama she had all day, and were put to sleep in her nursery, and Steve asked Peggy if she's still pent up or not. Peggy's fury and anger was all gone, but she was still fired up, and she took charge, with Steve happily following her orders all evening through the four rounds of lovemaking before eventually falling asleep and cuddling up at midnight.

In the morning, after breakfast and giving Susan to Phillps and Erskine, with Peggy telling Phillips of her consideration about temporarily living in Paris, the couple went off to Holland to help the Allies with the Rhine River.

"Coup de grace...", Steve said as he and Peggy were onboard one of the transport planes by themselves. "The rest of the Red Devils of the British 1st Airborne is landing like a few miles away in Oosterbeek from the actual bridges... Meanwhile we're the ones to take it... no wonder Phillips thought this whole thing was poorly planned.".

"At least I can fly and quickly get to XXX Corps to see how they're doing, or the 82nd Airborne in Nijmegen.", Peggy reminded. "I just hope the intel was right about the garrisons being units of old men and young boys. More likely to turn and run compared to crack SS divisions.".

"If it's the SS, we'll take them out all the same as the rest. Those monsters have a lot to answer for; I've seen some of their handywork in France.", Steve growled as he looked out the plane door to see the skies filled with air transports. It was about to snow in September for the Netherlands.

Peggy smirked, "We'll give those Nazi what's for. We're getting close.", looking out the plane door as well, "Remember, you go giant halfway down while I flame on.".

"Hope those AA gunners are asleep right now or you might be having to carry me down.", Steve said as they saw their target far ahead. The Rhine River and Arnhem. They could see by the town the main road bridge and a small pontoon one by it, while a rail bridge that was closer to Oosterbeek in the west.

"Head for that rail bridge! I'll take care of the road one and then you meet up... let's not give the Nazis a chance to blow them up and slow us down!", Steve called out as several AA guns started to open up. The transport plane rocked from a nearby flak burst before Steve took a deep breath and jumped out. Peggy would fly out a few seconds later.

Steve fell to the earth below before he shifted to his 50ft height and slammed on the field only a few dozen yards away from the road bridge and just feet away from two AA guns that had been shooting at him. 'Care to surrender?', Steve asked the gunners in his German while the gunners quickly tried to rotate the quad-cannons. "Guess not.", he sighed as he quickly stomped down on the two guns.

Peggy flamed on, flew straight for the rail bridge, smirking to herself as she shot fireballs at some of the AA guns on the way, blowing them up and their camps nearby of Germans while dodging the rest of the AA guns, and dived up in a wide arc, then dived down, and with a grin, Peggy created a fire laser, hitting straight in a line through the rest of the AA guns, blowing up the engines themselves.

She then flew back, heading for Steve, flaming down and shifting to giant size, grinning as Steve made quick work of the German camps that was near the road bridge, and glanced around, "I think that's all the Germans on this side. You ready to build more bridges?", knowing that Steve was partial to drawing the Brookyln Bridge when he was younger.

Steve smirked, nodding, and sketched into the earth, and instantly, three giant turtles with a replica of the Brookyln Bridge on their backs, made of earth, walked to the river after hearing Steve's instructions, submerging down into the water, intact and strong, able to be solid for four hours, with the bridges locking instantly from river border to river border.

"That will do good for the Allies to cross, and help out the Netherlands for some time, eh? Shall we get rid of the Germans on the other side?", Steve asked with a grin.

"Sounds like a plan.", Peggy smiled. "Might be a day or so though before the XXX can arrive, but at least with these extra bridges, maybe the Germans will either think to try to blow up our temporary ones or just decide it's hopeless to destroy the true ones.".

"Either way, we got to hold until the calvary shows up.", Steve said as he turned to see a small, wooded area not too far away from and he was certain he was looking at three nasty looking German tanks. "Peggy, correct me if I'm wrong, but is that not a Tiger and two Panthers with the 9th SS Panzer Divisions markings on them?".

Peggy sighed as she nodded, "Old men and young boys... I swear, if we can help salvage this bloody mess that Monty just threw us and the Airborne in, I'll be amazed.".

"Better get to the Red Devils and help secure Arnhem and these bridges then you should fly south and check the other sectors to see what's going on with the 82nd and 101st. If the British armor doesn't get here in a few days, we'll all be in trouble.", Steve replied.

Peggy nodded, "Then let's get going.", before flaming on, and shot fireballs at the Tiger and the Panthers, exploding the tanks, seeing all the airmen from the Allied planes have already landed, and they will either capture or take care of the Germans who refuse to surrender, knowing that there are already many Germans dead from the AA gun explosions and crushing.

Steve went to work on jumping over the river near Arnhem, making quick work of the German camps, with Peggy then flying off to the rail bridge, to the other side, taking care of the German pillboxes, and then went to torch the east side, making a fire wall in an old, dry riverbed as a dividing portion to protect the incoming Allied Calvary while they regroup and all, with the Germans stuck on the far side of the fire wall if they dare come to come in numbers in an invasion calvary.

Peggy then met back up with Steve once more, "The fire wall will hold for an hour without refueling from myself. You good here?".

"I can help the 1st secure this city and the crossings no matter what comes our way. I just got to help them get organized and moving.", Steve nodded. "You got to see if the other divisions need help. If any one of those bridges' only road to Arnhem is destroyed, you can kiss the Red Devils goodbye.".

"Don't worry, I'm not letting my countrymen get left behind; we'll salvage this mess one way or another!", Peggy quickly took off and headed south.

"I hope so...", Steve glanced back at the bridges. "Hope the Dutch are taking good cover right now, this city's gonna rock.", Steve said as he continued to move onto any German positions in the city he could see as he made his way to Oosterbeek where the main landings of the 1st Airborne would be.

In the meantime, Peggy was flying fast along the main road she remembered on the maps while many transport planes were still flying above her, already dropping their cargo of men and material and making their way back to the airfields of England as she went to check the next bridge at Nijmegen.

Peggy can see a few German camps shooting at the 82nd and narrowed her eyes as she shot fireballs at the camps, and they exploded one by one, hearing the first regiment of the 82nd cheering for her, with the CO calling out to her, "Rest of regiment held up back there!".

Peggy looked ahead, and saw more German camps along the river, shooting at the rest of the regiments of the 82nd, and she shifted down to Amazonian size, and went around in a arc, then dived down so fast that there was a sonic boom, and Peggy blew out a fire streaming range of a wall like a dragon, destroying the German camps, and she grew back to giant size slowly as she went to patrol around Nijmegen, incredibly hearing a whistling sound, and caught a AA gun bullet, and looked up across the river, seeing a AA gun.

She shot off a sharpshooter fireball right at the AA gun, exploding it, and scoured the city, seeing the Germans flee in trucks, and with a finger, shot off fire flares under the trucks, stopping them as they rolled into ditches or such.

The German units around Nijmegen quickly decided that they had two options... either flee in any direction and hope they don't run into Allied paratroopers who have been landing all over the area or try to fight the angry British giantess. It was a mix of both. Some decided that it wasn't worth it and tried to flee for their lives, in some cases thinking they would be better off fighting the paratroopers than her. Others tried to follow their orders and hold against any such attack, which didn't do anything but throw away their lives.

It took Peggy a good hour to help clear up much German resistance around the city and the bridge before the 82nd started to slowly make their positions and hunker down until relieved with their critical bridge secured.

However, Peggy soon was realizing just how precarious the situation was. While Arnhem and Nijmegen might be more or less secured for the time being, and elements of the 9th and 10th SS Panzer divisions as well as a few other divisions that were part of 7th Army that barely escaped the Falaise Gap were right on the flanks of the main road all over. If the British armored was delayed for even a day, it might spell disaster for the whole operation. She was now glad at least she and Steve were here to perhaps keep that from happening, but more than likely, it would mean that they wouldn't be going back to Susan for a few days.

Peggy sighed heavily before heading back to Steve and to refuel the fire wall if it hasn't gone down into embers. She would need to know the progress back in Arnhem before she could even go look for the 101st.

Peggy soon arrived to see Steve helping the Red Devils fighting street by street through Arnhem while the Waffen-SS troops were trying to hold the line without armor support that was on the outsides of the towns and city, though obviously they wouldn't make much of a difference once Steve would turn his attention.

"Peggy!", Steve called out as he and several men of the 1st Airborne ran up with him right by the main road bridge. "This is Brigadier General John Hackett with the 4th Para Brigade. His unit got organized the fastest and charged with me back to the city.".

"Bloody good time too, Captain. Damn intel really screwed us over this time. A few Dutch resistance men met with us and told us they practically were screaming back to command that almost a whole SS corps was around here for a week!", Hackett cursed as he wiped his forehead with his red beret.

"So, I've seen.", Peggy sighed, "The 82nd got Nijmegen but only after I cleared much of the resistance.", with a nod. "What a mess...", Steve shook his head.

Peggy replied, "Steve, I think we are to be busy for a few days.", and Steve widened his eyes before whispering, "You think the doc and Phillips will be okay with her that long?".

Peggy smiled reassuringly as she whispered right back, "We have to trust them, Steve.", before clearing her throat, and glanced at Hackett, "Any news on the 101st?".

"Bad radios, unfortunately. It's like command is tying both our hands behind our backs!", Hackett said. "Mostly, you're our best chance of getting in touch with the other two Airborne divisions as well as the armor coming down the road. I hope they've already broken through at Valkenswaard.", Steve said.

"I'll make sure that those bridges are all good for the armor and that they're on their way fast as possible. Steve, you have to make sure that this city and area is clear; buy the division some breathing room at least. If I know Jerry, they'll be hitting fast as possible with the counterattack like they love to do.", Susan put her hand on Steve's shoulder. "And I'll make sure that we get this done as soon as we can, so Susan doesn't miss us.".

Steve smiled softly, "I know, but I also know that we can't afford to miss even a critical change of attack or such. Be careful, Peggy.", squeezing her hand on his shoulder as he leaned in to kiss her knuckles.

Peggy nodded, "I will.", with a smile, before nodding to Hackett, "Try to talk by short bound on radio, sir. After all, we have morse code.".

Hackett nodded, "Brilliant idea, Captain. May God give you strength...well, you know what I mean...", and Peggy smiled gratefully before shooting up and flaming on, flying for the south again.

Peggy quickly moved on the other bridges south along the main road which Peggy quickly gave the name of 'Hell's Highway' with just how much of a disaster was waiting in the wings if the Allies started to get into real trouble. She quickly linked up with other elements of the 82nd at Grave before meeting the 101st at places like Veghel and Son; quickly helping save the bridge at the latter just minutes before the Germans could wire it to blow. Finally, there was the troops at Eindhoven before all the bridges were at least held by at least a company's worth of troops.

By midafternoon, Peggy finally helped the British Guards Division break through at Valkenswaard and elements of the armor made it fast to Eindhoven while the rest of the XXX Corps moved their way up the road. When the sun began to set; the XXX was somewhat behind schedule but at least made it to Veghel and was on pace to either reach Nijmegen or even Arnhem by the next evening.

Come the next morning, the armor was on the move again as Peggy once more was to help with the drive as she had properly guessed, the Germans quickly reorganized and were trying to strike at the flanks of the advance. Something that should've been expected from troops under the command of Field Marshal Walter Model 'The Fuhrer's Fireman'. By the night of the 18th, XXX Corps was now having elements crossing the bridge at Nijmegen and were only a few kilometers from Arnhem. Market Garden might just work thanks to her and Steve.

"Just walking distance for us... and the armor decides to park for the night.", Steve chuckled as he and Peggy were sitting on the bank of the Rhine right next to the 'Carter-Rogers Bridge' the troops had named the main road bridge at Arnhem they helped take.

Peggy smiled, "Can you blame them? Without electric lights or such, it's hard to keep traveling through the night when it's the armor.", before sighing heavily, "It's strangely weird when I have been used to coming for the nights to eat dinner, have playtime with Susan, to cuddle and such with you, Steve..".
