Jericho's Plunge

-

The Oval bakes weeds,

Shriveling their limbs to stubs

And roots to twine w h o r l s;

-

Just petty bundles

Of charcoaled faggots d-r-i-p-p-i-n-g

Sweat droplets on glass.

-

!Gleaming! they beckon

Dusted silhouettes to chime

In strident crusade:

-

Blare the trumpets gold

Around(A)round the bastion

'Till the walls powder!

-

Assemble metal men

Shrouded in Godly prestige

And march to mêlée!

-

Six eves and six dawns

Will thy sandals coat in dust

And brow weep with heat

-

Until the King's Day

Becomes pregnant with valor

And scarce gallantry!

-

Then the morn births w a i l s

Beyond golden barricades

Of manly t o r m e n t

-

Merely vanquished

By the woes of timorous

Creatures' buried vows . . .

-

Rams' horns resound Death's

Footsteps, whilst victory's roar

Breaks Jericho's back,

P.L.U.N.G.I.N.G. errant wealth's Temple

Deep within Necropolis
