Progressing through their Duel, Zane and Hassleberry held nothing back, each playing their best Cards and using moves to gain the upperhand.

But despite Hassleberry's clear effort and strategy, he was no match for Zane and his Cyber Deck, finding himself up against Cyber End Dragon and with no way to stop its onslaught.

Zane: Cyber End Dragon, Attack!

Reacting to Zane's command, the three heads of Cyber End Dragon opened their maws, each gathering an intense amount of energy, before firing, consuming Hassleberry's side in a powerful blast and dealing a devastating 4000 Points of Damage.

But despite his loss, Hassleberry stood strong with a smile.

Hassleberry: I guess that means I'm being sent home with an honorable discharge.

Roland: With Hassleberry out of the tournament, Zane Truesdale will be advancing alongside Jaden Yuki as the second to the Semi Finals. Gentleman, please return to the preparation room so we can bring out our next competitors, will be Alexis Rhodes against Jesse Anderson.

Deactivating their Duel Discs and leaving the stage, Zane and Hassleberry both smiled to see Alexis and Jesse both approaching, both holding the same determined spark on their faces.

And taking to the stage, spacing themselves out, both Duelists continued to express their growing confidence.

Jesse: Now don't you think for a second I'll throw any punches since you're a girl. I wanna shot at taking on Kaiba, but I also want to face off against Jaden again.

Agreeing with Jesse's enthusiasm, Alexis gave a small nod and a smile, before activating her Duel Disc, an action Jesse quickly copied.

Roland: Alright, begin the match!

Jesse: I'll be starting this here match if you don't mind. (Draws) And I'll start by Summoning my Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus. (ATK: 1800)

Calling forth his Monster, the gem infused pegasus appeared, spreading out its wings in a show of grace and strength.

Jesse: With Pegasus on the Field, I can send any Crystal Beast to my Field, and I choose my good buddy, Ruby Carbuncle.

Withdrawing Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle from his Deck, Jesse placed the Card in his Duel Disc, within the Spell/Trap Card zone, causing a red chunk of gem to appear behind Sapphire Pegasus, which brought a continued confident smile to Jesse's face.

Jesse: I'll place a pair of face-downs and call it a turn. You're up, Alexis.

Nodding in reply, Alexis began her move as she drew the top Card from her Deck.

Alexis: I Summon Cyber Tutu. (ATK: 1000) And since I brought her out, I can play the Spell: Allegro Toile. This Spell lets me Destroy one of your Spell or Trap Cards.

Pointing to the face-down now set beside the gem form of Ruby Carbuncle, Alexis made her choice.

Alexis: Tutu, take down that face-down!

Spinning gracefully, Cyber Tutu increased in her spin, turning to a tornado-like form, where a blade set with angelic wings upon the handle emerged, shooting at Jesse's face-down, cutting right through it and revealing the split Card to be Rainbow Life.

Thinking she had made the right choice, Alexis continued in her assault.

Alexis: Cyber Tutu, Attack Jesse directly!

Keeping up the spin in her momentum, and with her ability in play, Cyber Tutu, bypassed Sapphire Pegasus and was about to kick down Jesse.

Jesse: Hold on there, girl, I play my Trap: Rainbow Path. Now by sacrificing Ruby Carbuncle, not only does this stop your Attack, but I get to add Rainbow Dragon to my hand.

Reacting to the effects of his Trap, Ruby Carbuncle's gem form shattered apart, transforming into a crimson red barrier, which repelled Cyber Tutu, earning a small groan from Alexis, not only to have her Attack stopped, but at Jesse now holding his most powerful Monster in his hand.

But having a few moves to show, Alexis ended her turn with a pair of face-downs.

While the audience gave their cheers to both Duelists, many supporting Jesse and others giving their encouragement to Alexis, from the preparation room, Jaden and the others watched with a great interest, curious as to who the victor would be.

Syrus: So who do you guys think will win this one?

Chazz: As much as I hate to say it, Alexis is through. She's a great Duelist, but against Rainbow Dragon, she won't stand a chance.

Téa: That's only if Jesse can Summon it. Remember, Rainbow Dragon needs seven Crystal Beasts to be on the Field to be played.

As the others gave their views upon the Duel, Jaden gave a smile as he too expressed his thoughts.

Jaden: I know Alexis and she never gives up. She'll find a way to win. Remember she risked everything against Titan to get back Atticus' memory. She's never given up before.

.

.

Carrying out their Duel, Alexis and Jesse showed their skills, holding nothing back as they used everything they had to best their opponent.

And though Jesse had succeeded, calling forth Rainbow Dragon, Alexis remained calm and collected as she made her move.

Alexis: (Draws) I play The Warrior Returning Alive. This Spell lets me return any Warrior Type Monster back to my hand, and I choose Cyber Tutu.

Withdrawing the aforementioned Monster form out of her Duel Disc Graveyard, Jesse had to cut in.

Jesse: Out of all the Monsters you could choose, why exactly did you pick her?

Alexis: Oh, you'll see, or rather she'll show you. Cyber Tutu, come forth!

Placing Cyber Tutu's Card back upon her Duel Disc, Cyber Tutu returned to the Field, standing strong before Alexis.

Alexis: And you remember Cyber Tutu's power, right? When she's facing a Monster stronger than her, she can Attack you directly.

Springing into action, Cyber Tutu dashed past Rainbow Dragon and delivered a powerful kick into Jesse's stomach, causing him to groan a little from the impact, while finding his Life Point counter drop down to 1000 Life Points.

Jesse: Not bad, Alexis, but I won't fall for the same trick twice.

Alexis: I know, which is why I end with two face-downs.

Looking upon Alexis, Jesse couldn't help but grin, finding that though she was now leading with 2200 Life Points, their Duel was one of the most challenging he had participated in for quite some time.

However, Jesse knew he had to end their match.

Jesse: Alright, it's been fun, but we both knew we had to wrap this up eventually. Rainbow Dragon, Attack Cyber Tutu!

Letting forth a noble and majestic roar, Rainbow Dragon Attacked, releasing a great stream of light from its mouth, which headed straight for Cyber Tutu, many beliving that the Duel was officially over.

But as the intense energies headed for Alexis, she gave a small smile, not to similar to Jaden's, before springing into action.

Alexis: I play my Trap: Doble Passe, which changes the diverts Rainbow Dragon's Attack to me.

Jesse: But if you do that, you'll sure as shoot lose.

Alexis: Not so long as I have my second Trap: Hallowed Life Barrier.

Revealing her second face-down, a dome of blue energy then circled around Alexis and Cyber Tutu, protecting both from the great force of Rainbow Dragon's Attack, the sight surprising not only the audience and Jesse, but surprising even Seto Kaiba himself.

Alexis: With Hallowed Life Barrier in effect, all Damage I take this round becomes zero, so long as I discard one Card.

Relinquishing the final Card in her hand, the barrier then faded as the energies of Rainbow Dragon's Attack died down.

But Alexis wasn't finished.

Alexis: Now the last dance step of my Doble Passe Trap kicks in. Since Rainbow Dragon was allowed a shot at my Life Points, it's only fair Cyber Tutu gets a hit of her own.

Now understanding why Cyber Tutu was chosen to return, Jesse couldn't remove the proud smile on his face, knowing Alexis had planned such an amazing strategy in order to obtain victory, where he then lowered his Duel Disc, relaxed himself and accepted his defeat, falling to the floor as Cyber Tutu ended with a final kick, wiping out the last 1000 of Jesse's Life Points.

As Jesse lay on the floor, he just kept his smile, turning his head to look upon the Duel Monster Spirit of Ruby Carbuncle.

Jesse: Looks like we were put in our place, huh, pal?

Unable to speak, Ruby Carbuncle gave a small mewling, happily nuzzing itself against Jesse's cheek, before moving back as to allow its Summoner to return to his feet.

Jesse: Boy howdy. You really know how to play the game, 'Lex. If you keep up that skill and spirit, you'll have this competition in the bag.

Finding herself smiling, encouraged by Jesse's friendly words and kind nature, Alexis then walked over, shaking Jesse's hand, just before Roland cut in as to make Alexis' victory official.

Roland: And the third Duelist to advance to the semi finals will be Alexis Rhodes!

After Rolan's call, the audience gave a great cheer, many young female Duelists finding a growing inspiration within Alexis, seeing her as a role model, before the blonde and Jesse left the stage and returned to the preparation room, where Alexis found Mindy and Jasmine the first to show their support.

Mindy: You Dueled amazingly out there, Alexis. And just listen to that applause. You have so many people supporting you.

Jasmine: I bet there are a few cute boys in the audience that would love to Duel you or go on a date with the future Queen of Games.

A little embarrassed by Jasmine's teasing, Alexis tried to hold back the growing blush on her face, but found her blush increasing as Jaden walked toward her, expressing a continued sweet and endearing smile.

Jaden: Way to play, Alexis. That was an amazing Duel. Both of you did a seriously great job out there.

From Jaden's encouragement, alongside the warm smile he gave, Alexis found she couldn't hide her own smile, before thanking Jaden for his support.

Jesse: You best watch out for Alexis. She's got spirit.

Keeping her smile at the encouragement of her friends, as well as moving a step closer to winning the tournament, Alexis turned her attention to Chazz and Aster, knowing that they soon would be facing one another.

Roland: Attention. The final Duel of the semi finals will begin shortly, so will everyone accompany me in giving their applause to Chazz Princeton and Aster Phoenix. Both of these gentleman have proven themselves on the Dueling circuit as two of the best Pro Duelists, so you know we're in for a show.

Before leaving for their match, Chazz and Aster both found Mindy and Jasmine set their arms around them, both embracing their respective boyfriend as they wished them luck.

Mindy: Who's gonna win? The Chazz! Who's the greatest Duelist ever? The Chazz! Who does Mindy love?

Chazz: The Chazz!

Smiling at her boyfriend showing his enthusiasm, Mindy slowly released her arms from around Chazz and kissed his cheek.

Mindy: Then go and Chazz it up!

While inspired by the morale boost, Jasmine also did what she could to encourage Aster, though she didn't need to inflate Aster's ego as much.

Jasmine: Win or lose, I just hope you are as proud of yourself as I am of you.

Aster: I am, and you better believe I'm going to give this Duel my all.

Though Jasmine didn't show as much dedication to pumping up her boyfriend, she did show a little more affection as she set her hand on Aster's cheek, guiding his face to her own and kissed him deeply on the lips, an action Aster was more than happy to acknowledge and return.

But not wanting to keep the tournament waiting for them, Aster and Chazz made haste to the arena, where the audience let out an uproar of applause, looking forward to seeing the Destiny HERO Duelist face off against the Ojama Duelist.

And after activating their Duel Discs, drawing their five Cards, Aster and Chazz made sure to not only give the audience a great Duel, but one they too would enjoy.

-Sometime later-

Just as Alexis and Jesse had done in their match, Chazz and Aster did nothing to hold back their skills, each putting on quite a show in their Duel, with Chazz managing to gain the upperhand, Summoning Armed Dragon Level 10 and deducing Aster's Life Points to 2200, allowing Chazz to lead with 2800.

But being the Duelist he was, just like Jaden, Aster refused to give up, where he drew his Card and found himself smiling at the Monster he now held.

Aster: Since I drew a Monster, Destiny HERO - Dasher's effect now kicks in, meaning he's making a second return to our Duel.

Returning the Destiny HERO Card from his Graveyard and placing it upon his Duel Disc, Chazz braced himself, knowing that a Duelist as professional as Aster would have something massive in store for him.

Aster: And he's not coming alone. Thanks to Double Dude, I get two more allies on my side.

In response to Aster's call, a set of Monsters, Double Dude Tokens, emerged by Destiny HERO - Dasher's side, the sight bringing some concerns to Chazz as he was certain as to what was coming.

Aster: I sacrifice Destiny HERO - Dasher and my Double Dudes to bring out a HERO with some serious power. Come forth, Destiny HERO - Plasma! (ATK: 1900)

Offering up the three Destiny HERO Monsters, a pool of plasma slowly formed before Aster's feet, starting off as mere droplets, which then shot up as a great torrent, revealing the more fiendish of Aster's Monsters to show itself.

Aster: And if you thought his appearance was scary, just wait and check out his ability.

Only able to watch on, Destiny HERO - Plasma spread out his wings, creating a vacuum effect, sucking in Armed Dragon Level 10, where the Dragon could be seen trapped within the membrane of Plasma's right wing.

Seeing Chazz confused by the loss of his Monster, Aster grinned, before he explained the power his Destiny HERO held, both to Chazz and to all those watching the Duel.

Aster: With Plasma's power, not only can he absorb one of your Monsters, but half of its Attack is now part of Plasma. (ATK: 1900 → 3400)

Aster: And with no other Monsters on the Field, I think it's time for a direct Attack. Vengeful Reign!

Keeping his wings spread, from out the membrane a surge of plasma poured out, raining down upon Chazz's side of the Field and causing him to groan from the Attack.

Chazz: I'm not finished yet! I play my Trap: Call of the Haunted! With this, I'm allowed to bring back any Monster from my Graveyard back to the Field, so Armed Dragon Level 5 is taking a dive this round."

From his call, Armed Dragon Level LV5 returned to the Field and before Chazz, shielding the Ojama Duelist against the continued downpour of Destiny HERO - Plasma's Attack, before the onslaught overpowered it, causing Armed Dragon Level LV5 to give a pained howl and shatter apart, while Chazz found his Life Points dropping down to 1400, knowing that one more Attack from Plasma would cost him everything.

Aster: To end my turn, I play D - Force. Now as long as this Spell Card remains on top of my Deck, the effects of your Monsters are rendered useless against Plasma. You're up!

Chazz: (Thinking) And I'm out if I don't come up with a way to beat that thing.

Current Scores:

Aster: 2200

Chazz: 1400

Slowly placing his hand on the top Card of his Deck, feeling somewhat nervous as to what the outcome of his draw would be, Chazz found his nerves calmed a little as he saw the spirits of Ojama Yellow, Green and Black resting their hands atop his own.

Ojama Yellow: Don't worry, Boss. So long as you believe in yourself and your Cards, you still have a chance.

Ojama Green: Even if you have one Card left and one Life Point, one draw can change it all.

Ojama Black: But no matter what, we'll be here if you need us.

While Chazz used to find the Ojama brothers a nesisuence, the years spent with the Duel Monster Spirits had built up a tolerance, which eventually changed to a friendship, to which Chazz gave a small smile, drew his Card and made his move.

Chazz: I activate Graceful Charity, allowing me to draw three new Cards, after which I must discard two Cards afterwards.

Drawing three Cards, making the total amount of Cards in his hand five, Chazz looked upon the Cards now occupying his hand, deciding to discard the Spells: Infernal Transcription and Lightning Vortex.

But with the three Cards remaining, Chazz believed he had what he needed to win.

Chazz: I play Different Dimension Hanger, so now I banish Pitch-Dark Dragon, Y-Dragon Head and Z-Metal Tank from my Deck.

Playing his Spell, a dark cloud spread and hovered over the Duelists, while sliding from out of his Deck were the three previously mentioned Cards, which Chazz then set aside, confusing some of those watching as to why he wanted to banish his own Monsters.

However, having a similar strategy in the past, Kaiba had a fair idea as to Chazz's next move.

Chazz: Next, I Summon X-Head Cannon. (ATK: 1800) And with X-Head Cannon on the Field, I can now bring back Y-Dragon Head and Z-Metal Tank.

From the growing black clouds, two sets of mechanical arms emerged, revealing they were holding Y-Dragon Head and Z-Metal Tank, which were then placed on the adjacent sides of X-Head Cannon.

Chazz: As great as these Monsters are when they fight solo, when they become one, they make a devastating force, so I combine my X-Head Cannon, Y-Dragon Head and Z-Metal Tank to bring out my XYZ-Dragon Cannon! (ATK: 2800)

Detaching and rearranging their parts, gears and circuitry, the three Machine Monsters altered their form, fusing into one of Chazz's most powerful Fusion Monsters, the sight of XYZ-Dragon Cannon amazed many of the Duelists, including Aster.

Aster: Not bad. But your Dragon Cannon is still no match for Destiny HERO - Plasma. And thanks to D - Force, Plasma cannot be taken down by any of Dragon Cannon's abilities.

Chazz: Who needs special abilities when I have this? I play the Spell: Megamorph!

Somewhat taken aback by the last Card in Chazz's hand, Aster watched in awe as XYZ-Dragon Cannon's Attack power doubled, raising to 5600.

Chazz: Alright, Dragon Cannon, set your sights on Destiny HERO - Plasma and wipe it alongside Aster's Life Points out!

Aiming the cannons mounted to the X-Head Cannon's shoulders, the set of cannons concealed within Z-Metal Tanks' side plates, alongside the centre weapon, which was Y-Dragon Head itself, five consecutive blasts of energy were fired off, tearing through and Destroying Destiny HERO - Plasma, wiping out the last of Aster's 2200 Life Points perfectly and making Chazz the final Duelist to partake within the semi finals.

Roland: You saw it here, Dueling fans. The winner and the final Duelist moving onto the semi finals will be Chazz Princeton!

As the holograms of his Cards faded, Chazz approached Aster, showing his continued changes from the snobbish Obelisk Blue he used to be as he held out his hand as to shake Aster.

Chazz: That was some impressive skills, Phoenix. I'm just glad we had a chance to show everyone that slacker is not the only one with impressive dueling skills.

Nodding to Chazz's words, Aster kept up his smile as a thought came to mind.

Aster: Then I guess there's only one thing left to say. CHAZZ IT UP!

Aster's support and good spirit not only left Chazz smiling, but this caused the audience to give a similar cheer, many showing a new support and respect to the Ojama Duelist, while others remained wondering who would be the Duelist to face Seto Kaiba.

But whether it was Jaden Yuki, the HERO Duelist, Alexis Rhodes, the Queen of Obelisk Blue, The Cyber Dragon Master, Zane Truesdale or Chazz, the majority of those watching knew that the last four Duelists would prove a challenge to both Seto Kaiba and one another.

Allowing the crowd to continue to applaud them, Chazz and Aster started to head back to the preparation room, where they meet their friends and found Mindy was the first to grab Chazz's attention as she wrapped her arms her boyfriend neck giving him a kiss.

Mindy: Way to go, Chazzie! I knew you would win. I never gave up any hope for a second. I'm so proud!

Jasmine: You gave it your best, Aster, and that's all I and your fans could ask of you. (Gently resting her hand on his shoulder, Jasmine continued to look at Aster with a sweet smile.) And I know that though your (father/dad) is still trapped within your Plasma Card, I know he's just as proud of you.

From a combination of what Jaden remembered about Aster telling them what happened to his father, as well as seeing that alongside the spirit form of Destiny HERO - Plasma was Aster's father, seeing him now a spirit and no longer trapped within Plasma's very being, an idea began to come to Jaden, though he needed to have a quick word with Yubel.

Jaden: (Thinking) Yubel, can you hear me?

Yubel: Of course I can, Jaden. I'm always by your side.

Jaden (Thinking, sharing a mental bond with Yubel): Can I ask you something, can the power of Supreme King bring someone back or free them if they're trap in a Card?

Knowing what Jaden was thinking, Yubel gave a warm smile at Jaden's consideration, at his clear care for Aster and his friends.

Yubel: I have never experienced such a situation, but I will give it my best.

Trusting Yubel, Jaden turned his focus to Aster, a serious expression appearing on the HERO Duelist's face as he held out his right hand.

Jaden: Aster, can I see plasma card for a second

A little unsure why Jaden wanted to check out his Card, but knowing he could trust Jaden, Aster withdrew his Deck, searched through and handed Destiny HERO - Plasma to Jaden, where both Jaden and Yubel looked upon the Card, recalling how it was the very source of The Light of Destruction.

However, Yubel, alongside Jaden both focused themselves on the present, with Jaden closing his eyes and concentrating the power of Supreme King, feeling an added strength through him as Yubel set her right hand upon his back.

But seeing the sudden blaze-like aura circling around Jaden, as well as the faint outline of the fiendish creature by his side, everyone looking on was in some shock and confusion.

Téa: Umm... guys what going on?

Joey: I have no idea, but it's freaking me out.

While most of the group were concerned to Jaden's state, Syrus, Alexis, Chazz, Jesse, Yugi and Aster could all tell that Jaden was in no danger, but rather, he was doing what he always tried to do, help a friend.

Continuing to watch Jaden in his actions, seeing the amber light filling Aster's Card, Aster and the others were taken aback when the very form of Destiny HERO - Plasma appeared before Jaden, astonishing the group to see Jaden bring forth a Monster without the need of a Duel Disc.

But what came next left all in awe, where all saw Destiny HERO - Plasma spread his wings out, casting out a sphere of amber light, which then took a familiar form to Aster, leaving the Destiny HERO Duelist stunned at the figure now before him.

Aster: Father... But I... I thought you left this world...

Seeing the continued awe of his child, after the remnants of the amber hue faded from off of him, revealing his now spirit-like form, Aster's father, Michel Phoenix gave a small smile.

Michel: Though you managed to stop The D and freed the souls trapped within Destiny HERO - Plasma, my soul remained within. But don't despair, my son, it was my choice to stay. I wanted to watch over you and see you grow as Duelist, and I am proud of the person you have become.

His emotions overwhelmed at seeing his father, and his caring words, Aster couldn't hold back his tears.

With their friends happy for Aster at getting his father back, with Jasmine giving Aster the hug she knew Aster needed in the moment, Jaden started to return back to normal, the aura around him dying down and Yubel's form to return invisible all but to his and Yugi's eyes.

However, using such power had its toll on Jaden, where he felt weak from using the power of the Supreme King, feeling fairly drained of his energy, concerning his friends, with Hassleberry and Axel staying close to Jaden, keeping by his side in case he collapsed.

Syrus: Jaden, are you good to continue Dueling?

Jaden: You know me, Sy, I'm always ready to throw down.

Zane: Then you better prepare yourself.

A little confused by Zane's remark, looking to see Zane pointing ahead, Jaden turned, seeing the monitors displaying his image, alongside Zane's, followed by Alexis and Chazz's at the bottom.

Roland: These four Duelists have proven themselves to be the best in the world, but only one can have the chance to face Seto Kaiba himself. The rounds will go as followed: Jaden Yuki will go up against Zane Truesdale, while Alexis Rhodes will take on Chazz Princeton.

After the announcement, Jaden looked towards Zane with a growing smile.

Jaden: Look like we're getting our rematch, only this time it's with some new Cards.

Zane: I'm looking forward to seeing how your Neo-Spacians fare against my Cyber Dark Monsters, but let's save some of that energy for the Duel.

Nodding to Zane's reply, Jaden walked alongside the older Truesdale brother, where Alexis and the others turned to the monitors, seeing the pair now making their way upon the field of battle.

Téa: That was a really sweet thing Jaden did. I just hope he doesn't ware out in the middle of the Duel.

Aster: You don't need to worry about, Jaden. When it comes to a match, he always gives it his all.

Those who knew Jaden all agreed with Aster's words, including Alexis, though she found the combination of Jaden's actions and him brought up left her thinking deeply upon the brunette.

Alexis (thinking): Jaden has been improving his Dueling skills, and he keeps showing his kindness to others. I never realized just how much I missed him until now. But after this tournament, will things be the same? No, I need to speak with Jaden and tell him everything.

.

.

.

Finding themselves back on the Dueling arena, the crowd cheering their names, Jaden couldn't stop smiling.

Jaden: It's been a while since we threw down.

Zane: Since my graduation. (Activates Duel Disc) And as one of the few Duelists I was proud to call worthy, as well as call a friend, you better believe I won't hold anything back.

Jaden: Right back at ya, Zane.

Roland: The first match of the semi finals will now begin. Gentlemen get ready to Duel!

Jaden: I'll start off this match. (Draws) I Summon Elemental HERO Bubbleman in Defense mode. (DEF: 1200) And thanks to his ability, when he's all alone on the Field, I get to draw two more Cards. (Draws 2) I'll throw down two face-downs and end my turn.

Zane: Not bad. (Draws) But check this out. I'll start off by playing Pot of Greed. (Draws 2) And since you have a Monster on the Field, I can Summon Cyber Dragon. (ATK: 2100) Next, I Summon Infernal Dragon. (ATK: 2000)

Cyber Dragon, Attack Bubbleman! Strident Blast!

Casting forth a stream of energy from its maw, the attack consumed and Destroyed Bubbleman, leaving Jaden and his Life Points vulnerable.

Zane: Infernal Dragon, make a direct Attack on Jaden!

Reacting to Zane's command, Infernal Dragon gives a fearsome roar and charges itself at Jaden.

Jaden: You better hold back your Dragon because I active my Trap: A HERO Emerges! Now you must select one of the Cards in my hand, and if it's a Monster, it gets Summoned straight to the Field. A HERO Emerges, HERO Barrier

Smiling to see Jaden still using a strategy and a little luck in his Cards, Zane played along.

Zane: I choose the second on your right.

Jaden: good choice, because I get to Summon Elemental HERO Bladedge! (ATK: 2600)

Calling forth the Monster, Bladedge appeared before Jaden, forcing Infernal Dragon to stop in its Attack and retreat back to Zane's side.

Zane: Not bad. It seems your skills are as sharp as Bladedge's arms. However, I have more in store, and to start I'll activate Mystical Space Typhoon to Destroy that second face-down.

Placing the Quick-Play Spell in his Duel Disc, a moderate sized cyclone picked up, circling around Jaden's face-down, revealing it to be HERO Barrier as it was blown upward and Destroyed.

Zane: With your face-down gone, it clears the way for me to play Quick Summon and bring forth Exploder Dragon to the Field. (ATK: 1000)

Zane: Exploder Dragon, Attack Bladedge!

Though the latest Monster to join Zane's side followed the command and flew itself toward Bladedge, while many watching the Duel were somewhat confused, Jaden already figured out Zane's move.

Zane: When Exploder Dragon finds itself in Battle, not only don't I take any Damage, but Exploder Dragon Destroys the Monster that took it down.

With that said, Jaden could only watch as Bladedge leapt ahead and sliced through the combustive sphere within Exploder Dragon's claws, causing the bomb to detonate and to take down both Monsters.

Zane: Now, Infernal Dragon, hold nothing back and Attack Jaden directly!

Obeying its Summoner, Infernal Dragon once again flew at Jaden, striking the HERO Duelist with its spiked tail, dealing 2000 Points of Damage to Jaden.

But after striking Jaden, Infernal Dragon suddenly shattered apart.

Zane: When Infernal Dragon Attacks, it automatically Destroys itself afterwards. However, by sacrificing Cyber Dragon, Infernal Dragon can make its return.

Shattering to bits itself, Cyber Dragon vanquished from the Field, where the shards that were Cyber Dragon's remains reformed into Zane's Infernal Dragon.

And wasting no time, Zane gave his command to strike.

Zane: Infernal Dragon, Attack Jaden again!

With no defences, Jaden groaned out again as Infernal Dragon slammed its tail into Jaden's being, dealing another 2000 Points of Damage, before Zane's last Monster was then sent to the Graveyard.

Amazed by the mere opening moves, the crowd could only voice their silent opinions, while back in the preparation room, Jaden and Zane's friends were more talkative.

Jesse: Did you all see that? Zane just took down half of Jaden's Life Points in a single move.

Hassleberry: The Sarge might've suffered a casualty or two, but he's still in this fight.

Syrus: You're right. It's still early in the match, and knowing Jaden and my brother, this is going to be one rough match.

Back with the Duel, Zane continued his turn, taking the final Card in his hand and placing it in his Duel Disc.

Zane: I'll end with two face-downs. So how was that, Jaden? Was this the Duel you were hoping for?

Jaden: That was a sweet start, but I'm not down yet.

Keeping the confident smile on his face, despite his Life Point disadvantage brought a smile to Zane, who nodded in reply, awaiting to see what Jaden would do.

Jaden: Here we go! (Draws) I Summon Elemental HERO Wildheart. (ATK: 1500)

Zane: Before you continue, Jaden, I play my Trap: Power Balance. This Trap can only be used when I have no Cards in my hand. Now you must discard half the Cards in your hand, afterward, I get to draw the amount you discarded.

His Trap in effect, Jaden discarded Necroshade and Neo-Spacian Grand Mole, leaving Jaden with two Cards and allowing Zane to draw two new Cards himself.

Jaden: I might've lost some Cards, but thanks to Pot of Greed, I'll get two new ones. (Draws 2)

Jaden: Go, Wildheart and Attack Zane's Life Points with Wild Slash!

Grabbing hold of the hilt to his weapon, Wildheart rushed at Zane, where he drew his blade and ran it down Zane's form, cutting away 1500 Life Points and causing Zane to groan a little from the Attack.

Zane: Good move, Jaden.

Jaden: Right back at you, bro. I'm just happy we get this chance for a rematch. I'll throw two Cards face-down and end my turn.

Current Scores:

Jaden: 4000

Zane: 6500

Nodding to Jaden's words, seeing him as a good friend and an even greater Duelist, Zane drew the top Card from his Deck and made his next move.

Zane: I play Future Fusion. By sending Cyberdark Edge, Cyberdark Horn and Cyberdark Keel from my Deck to the Graveyard, I can Summon Cyberdark Dragon next round.

His Spell in effect, Jaden knew that he had to be cautious, knowing just how dangerous a Monster Cyberdark Dragon could become if used by a Duelist with such skill, a Duelist such as Zane.

Atticus: Jaden has to be careful with Cyberdark Dragon. I know its Attack Points start off low, but its ability can turn the tide.

Hearing the voice of her brother, Alexis turned with a smile, before rushing over and wrapping her arms around Atticus.

Alexis: Atticus! You came.

Smiling at Alexis' joyous attitude, Atticus set his arms around Alexis, hugging her back.

Atticus: Of course I did. As if I'd miss seeing you in action. And I'm not the only one. Back home, mom and dad are watching your Duel, and I just know they are as proud of you as I am.

Though enjoying the embrace shared with her sibling, Alexis gently slid herself from out her brother's arms, guiding him over for introductions.

Alexis: For those who don't know, this is my big brother, Atticus.

Yugi: It's nice to meet you.

While appreciate of the kindness, seeing the people mixed in with their close friends, Atticus was in clear surprise.

Atticus: Hold up, you're Yugi Muto. And you, you're Joey Wheeler.

Facing back to Alexis, Atticus remained with a continued stupor, before he had to ask.

Atticus: Sissy, how do you know the King of Games?

Mai: First off, Yugi's retired, so no autographs. Second, Sissy?

Alexis: (Sighing) It's an annoying nickname he calls me. And Atticus, we don't actually know Yugi, it was Jaden who introduced us to him. Apparently Jaden has been a little busy since graduation.

Atticus: So, Yugi, how did you and Jaden meet?

Yugi: We first met a few years back when Jaden challenged me to a Duel. He was really good, so good I actually had to Summon Slifer the Sky Dragon in our match.

Now knowing that Jaden had gone up against an Egyptian God, everyone was in awe at what they heard, with Chazz the first to speak.

Chazz: Are you telling me that slacker faced a God Card!?

Hassleberry: This isn't the first time the Sarge has gone into combat against an Egyptian God. He went AWOL during the Genex Tournament in order to beat a copy Card of The Winged Dragon of Ra.

A little surprised to know Jaden had faced both Slifer and Ra, Joey then turned back to the Duel, drawing the attention of his friends.

Joey: You guys are going to be surprised when you see Jaden play. And what Atticus said about this Cyberdark Dragon, it's like Yug' always says Jaden just needs to Believe the Heart of the Cards.

Remembering facing Cyberdark Dragon himself, Jesse nodded in reply before verbally giving his reply with a smile.

Jesse: I hear that, mate.

The mention of Cyberdark Dragon earned further agreement, though it was from Ruby Carbuncle, who sat itself upon Jesse's left shoulder, where the Duel Monster Spirit watched the Duel alongside the others, all interested in seeing the next moves Jaden and Zane would make.

Zane: Now I Summon Cyber Dragon Drei. (ATK: 1800) And I'll have it Attack Wild Heart!

Giving a mechanical hissing, Cyber Dragon Drei opened its mouth and fired out a stream of thunder, the yellow energies sparked wildly around Wildheart, who gave a great groan before shattering apart, dealing 300 Points of Damage to Jaden.

Zane: I'll end with two more face-downs.

Knowing that Future Fusion would bring forth Cyberdark Dragon next round, as well as knowing Zane's face-downs would prove formidable, Jaden just smiled, finding more joy in the Duel than the risk of what could occur.

Jaden: (Draws) I activate my face-down: Jar of Greed. This Trap lets me draw one Card.

(Draws, smiling at the Card he drew)

Jaden: I now activate Necroshade's ability. When he's in the Graveyard, I can Summon an Elemental HERO Monster without tributing, so I'm Summoning my good friend, Elemental HERO Neos! (ATK: 2500)

Placing Neos' Card on his Duel Disc, the Neo-Spacian emerged, not only earning a great cheer from the crowd, but seeing the ace Monster, Zane smiled.

Jaden: Go, Neos and Attack Zane's Cyber Dragon Drei!

Keeping his smile, Zane braced himself as Neos delivering a powerful strike, the sight of which caused many watching to think Jaden's Monster had dealt a great blow to Zane's Life Points.

Zane: I play my Trap: Power Wall! Now for each Card I send from my Deck to the Graveyard, I can reduce the Damage taken by that amount.

Jaden: I activate my Face-down: Seven Tools of the Bandit, so say goodbye to your Trap Card!

Lowering his Life Points by 1000, Zane's Trap shattered apart, bringing a smile to the Cyber Dragon Duelist.

Zane: You knew with Power Wall, I could've used the Cards I sent to the Graveyard to power up my Cyberdark Dragon next round. Clever move.

Jaden: Thanks, and it also means Neos' Damage now kicks in.

Looking upon his Duel Disc counter, Zane saw his Life Points then drop down, leaving him on 5800, having a fair lead over Jaden.

However, just as Jaden expected the best from Zane, expecting nothing to hold him back, similar emotions filled Zane.

Jaden: I'll play two Cards face-down and end my turn.

Current Scores:

Jaden: 2700

Zane: 5800

Zane: My move. (Draws) And now that two turns have passed, I can Summon Cyberdark Dragon! (ATK: 1000)

From his Graveyard, Cyberdark Edge, Cyberdark Horn and Cyberdark Keel appeared, the three Monsters combining into one.

Zane: With Cyberdark Dragon, its gains 100 extra Attack Points for every Card in my Graveyard, and right now I have twelve Cards.

Feeling the power of Zane's Graveyard Cards fueling it, Cyberdark Dragon gave a mighty roar, where its Attack power rose to 2200.

Zane: And by Equipping any Dragon Type Monster in either Graveyard, Cyberdark Dragon gains that Monster's Attack power.

From Zane's added information on his Monster, there was some confusion upon Jaden and amongst those watching the Duel.

Jaden: You might want to check again, Zane. I don't have any Dragon Cards in my Graveyard.

Zane: Not right now, but with my Trap: Rebirth Judgement, you do. This Trap changes the Type of all our Graveyard Monsters, so your HERO Monsters are about to get a little Dragon in them.

Though there were no physical signs, Jaden looked at his Duel Disc, feeling the Monsters in his Graveyard now altered.

However, now knowing his HERO Cards were now treated as Dragon Types, the brunette knew there was trouble coming his way.

Zane: I now use Cyberdark Dragon's second ability, so I Equip him with Elemental HERO Bladedge!

Reeling out the set of plugs from its chest, Cyberdark Dragon pulled Bladedge back from out the Graveyard, only to then grip the HERO Monster within the black metal pincers, holding Bladedge in its grasp and assimilating Bladedge's Attack into itself. (ATK: 2200 → 4600)

Zane: Before I make my Attack, I activate a Spell: Card of Demise. This allows me to draw until I hold five Cards, but after five turns, I must discard any Cards in my hand.

Zane: (Thinking) But I'm sure before the five turns are up, one of us will win.

Drawing the top five, Zane smiled.

Znae: Jaden, you have proven yourself, both as my friend and as a Duelist, but let me see just how far you have improved. Cyberdark Dragon, Destroy Elemental HERO Neos!

Giving a great roar in response to Zane's command, the entire Dueling arena trembled from the generated shockwave of Cyberdark Dragon's sheer power, with the impacting wave heading right toward Jaden and Neos.

Jaden: I activate my face-down: Magic Cylinder! This not only stops your Attack, but all of Cyberdark Dragon's Attack now comes out of your Life Points.

Zane: That would be true if I didn't have this, I play my final Trap: Trap Jammer, and as the name implies, it Destroys the Trap first used before it!

His Counter Trap taking effect, Jaden groaned, not only as Magic Cylinder shattered apart, but as did Neos, costing him 2200 Life Points, leaving Jaden clinging with a remaining 600.

Jaden: Sweet move, Zane.

Zane: It's good to see that even when you're backed into a corner, you can still fight.

Jaden: when it comes to Dueling, I always give it my all.

Zane: I wouldn't expect any less, but watch this. I Summon Cyber Valley. (ATK: 0) With Cyber Valley on the Field, I can activate Machine Duplication, bringing two more Cyber Valleys to my Field.

Through the effect of his Spell, Zane's Deck slid out the second and third copy of his Cyber Monster, which he placed on his Duel Disc, causing the pair of mechanical-like serpents to emerge.

Zane: What Cyber valley lacks in Attack power, they make up with their abilities. I'll use my first Cyber Valley and use its third ability. By banishing this Card and one Card in my hand, I can add any Card from my Graveyard and return it to the top of my Deck.

Fading from out the Duel, alongside the Spell: Card from a Different Dimension, from his Graveyard, the Trap: Power Wall, returned, which Zane placed atop his Deck.

Zane: I now banish my second Cyber Dragon and use its second ability. I remove it from the Duel and one Monster on the Field to draw two new Cards.

Relinquishing the final pair of Cyber Valleys, Zane drew the top two Cards from his Deck, the first Jaden knew to be Power Wall.

Zane: I'll end my turn with three Cards face-down. Now c'mon, Jaden, show me why I chose you as my successor over Duel Academy.

Current Scores:

Jaden: 600

Zane: 5800

Jaden: You've got it!

Jaden put his hand on he Deck, drawing the top Card, which caused him to smile at what he drew, before he quickly got into action and his move.

Jaden: I'll start off with my Spell: Card of Sanctity. Now we both get to draw until we each hold six Cards.

Drawing the top six Cards from his Deck, watching as Jaden copied in the action, Zane kept a plain expression on his face, but looking at the great look in Jaden's eyes, he knew the brunette had something great planned.

Jaden: I activate Miracle Contact, so now I can fuse Elemental HERO Neos with any Neo-Spacians from my hand, Field or Graveyard, so I combine Neos with Grand Mole from the Graveyard, alongside the Dark Panther and Air Hummingbird from my hand to Summon Elemental HERO Cosmo Neos! (ATK: 3500)

Bringing forth the combination Neos, his presence illuminated the Field, before Jaden spoke up.

Jaden: With Cosmo Neos, he can negate the effects of every Card on your Field, including your face-downs.

Bringing his left arm up and bringing forth a mighty light, not only did this leave Zane's face-downs in a paralyzed state, but it rendered Cyberdark Dragon obsolete, its Attack power returning to a mere 1000 Points.

Jaden: And I'm not done. I'll follow up by playing Contact Out, which brings back the Monsters I originally used to summon Cosmo Neos.

Disengaging their Fusion form, Neos, Grand Mole, Dark Panther and Air Hummingbird all returned to the Field.

Jaden: I now activate my face-down: Jar of Trap lets me choose any five Cards from my graveyard and return them to my Deck.

Sliding from out his Duel Disc, the Cards: A HERO Emerges, HERO Barrier, Card of Sanctity, Bubbleman and Pot of Greed emerged, which Jaden took and placed back in his Deck, which then shuffled, before drawing the top Card from his Deck, being the added bonus to his Trap Card.

After drawing, Jaden turned the Card to face Zane, revealing it to be Card of Sanctity, whether it was luck or believing in his Cards, Jaden, after placing his hand on his Deck, felt a great presence within his next draw, a great power that wanted to be released.

Jaden: Since I haven't Normal Summoned this round. I want to introduce you to a new friend that I added in my Deck, but in order to bring him out I need to sacrifice three Monsters. If that's ok with you guys?

Looking toward Dark Panther, Grand Mole and Air Hummingbird, though the three Monsters had their backs to their Summoner, briefly turning their heads, Jaden saw the trio give a small nod each, all three ready to assist Jaden in his next move.

Jaden: Thank you. I now sacrifice Neo-Spacian Dark Panther, Grand Mole and Air Hummingbird so I can Summon Slifer The Sky Dragon! (ATK:? → 5000)

Placing the Card on his Duel Disc, a great and sudden surge of thunder spread along the Dueling field and filled the skies, turning the clear blue and cloudy environment into a dark and thundering stage, astonishing the crowd when all saw giant red coils descend from the sky.

However, while Zane was astonished, expecting another HERO Monster Jaden wanted to show off, Seto Kaiba was the most shocked.

Kaiba: That's Slifer... but how did this kid get his hands on one of Atem's powerful Cards in all of Duel Monsters, and how is he controlling its power?

While Slifer continued to descend down, revealing himself to Zane, showing his twin set of maws and his fearsome eyes, those within the audience were all in a similar state of shock, many having heard of the God Cards, some even seeing them used by Yugi years ago and others only just learning about them, but seeing it before their eyes was another story.

Jaden: If you're wondering how I got Slifer, I Duel against a Rare Hunter named Strings. I don't know how he got the Card, or why he seemed after me, but I managed to save Slifer from the one controlling both Slifer and Strings.

Similar to the crowd and all those watching the Duel, the rest of Jaden and Zane's friends were still shock at seeing a God Card being played after so many years.

Chazz: Let me be the first to say this is crazy! The slacker has one of strongest Monsters in creation, how are we supposed to beat that!?

Yugi: Don't worry. If Jaden is the good friend you say he is, he'll only use Slifer when he needs to.

Téa: Yugi, just how strong is Slifer's power? I ask because it looks like Jaden's having some trouble controlling it.

Yugi: Slifer, Obelisk and Ra might've been created by Pegasus, but remember it is the God Cards who choose who is worthy to use them and their power.

Returning to the Dueling arena, thunder continued to pour down, though Jaden could feel a straining pain filling him, feeling as if Slifer was fighting against his very soul.

Jaden: (Thinking) Slifer, I'm not like the people who were controlling you. And listen, I can understand you're a little crabby after waking up after so many years, but you have to trust me, bro.

Calming himself and focusing, Jaden started to feel the power of Slifer, feeling it taming around him.

And seeing the sky begin to clear up, the sun's rays breaking through the stormy darkness, Jaden knew Slifer trusted him with his power.

Jaden: Sorry, Zane, but this Duel ends here. Neos, Slifer, Attack his Life Points!

Following Jaden's call, while Neos leapt atop Slifer's head, Slifer began charging an intense amount of thunder within his first mouth, which the Egyptian God then cast off, followed by Neos, who released his own stream of energy, combining his power with Slifer's and devastating Cyberdark Dragon and the remainder of Zane's Life Points.

But not being a Shadow Duel, the damage to Zane was reduced drastically, leaving Zane to simply slump down as he accepted his defeat.

Ending Scores:

Jaden: 600

Zane: 0

Both drained after their Duel, Jaden approached Zane with a smile, causing Zane to smile back as he watched Jaden then set himself down and lie by his side, the sight reminding both of their final match at Duel Academy, only this time there was a victor.

Zane: You have improved, Jaden. You're even better than I imagined.

Jaden: Thanks, Zane. So you ok to move?

Zane: Just give me a moment. Fighting a God Card really takes it out of you.

Jaden: I know how it feels. I fought against Slifer and Ra, but despite Ra being a copy, it still packed a punch, especially when you go face to face against its Blaze Cannon Attack.

As Jaden and Zane remained lying alongside the other, looking at Kaiba, after seeing his employer overcome from his awe, Roland saw Kaiba nod, telling him to progress with the tournament.

Roland: And the first winner of the semi finals is Jaden Yuki. After our next Duel between Chazz Princeton and Alexis Rhodes, one of those two champions will face the champion of Duel Monsters and president of Kaiba Corp, Seto Kaiba.

Overcoming their own awe to see Slifer used in the Duel, the audience gave their applause, bringing a smile to Jaden's face, but not as much as when he saw Alexis staring down at him.

Alexis: Need a hand, Jaden?

Taking her hand, Alexis helped Jaden back up, seeing Chazz assisting Zane to his feet.

Alexis: I admit I was shocked and a little scared to you play Slifer, but after Yugi explained what had happened, my doubt was gone. You really gave it your all out there, I am proud of both of you.

Jaden: Thanks 'lex we Gave it our all.

Chazz: It was impressive to see Slifer, but after I beat Alexis, don't think a God Card will stop me from kicking your Dueling butt.

Ojama Green: Yeah, what the Boss said.

Ojama Black: You know what he'll do?

Ojama Yellow: He'll CHAZZ IT UP!

Smiling at the enthusiasm Alexis, Chazz, Zane and the Ojama Brothers were all giving, Jaden couldn't help but smile, before grabbing hold of Zane and helping him off of the Dueling field, giving Alexis and Chazz room to Duel.

But as Alexis and Chazz readied their Duel Discs, from their position, (Kaiba and Mokuba were more interested in Jaden.

Mokuba: How do you think Jaden got his hands on a God Card? You don't think it's a fake do you? He just seems like such a nice guy.

The question presented to him, Kaiba shook his head.

Kaiba: Impossible. Only Pegasus and his higher ups would have access to recreate the God Cards. However, I just can't understand how a kid could obtain Slifer, or use its power without suffering the God's wrath.

Roland: Sir, should I run a background check on Jaden Yuki?

Kaiba: Leave him for now. If I do face him, I want to see Slifer again. I want to see the look Jaden gives as I crush a God Card and prove to everyone I am the greatest Duelist this world knows.
