1SILENCE
Silence. That is what occupied the space where an argument had taken place just moments ago. Cameron had been angrily yelling at House for not allowing her to do a test on her patient.
"Why! Is it because it's me? I've jumped on the bandwagon! I hate you, okay!"
And now, they stare at each other in silence, their eyes showing feelings that they refuse to express in any other way. Cameron's eyes show hope, love, and regret for what she just said. House's eyes show hope as well, but they also show fear, and hurt. Cameron thinks she sees a little bit of something else in his eyes. Love, maybe?
They are locked in an intense, perhaps intimate, stare. At some point they seemed to have gravitated closer to one another. They are now only a mere half foot apart, and the only thing that stops House from taking that last step forward is fear. Fear of rejection, of hurt. He cannot break the imaginary barrier between them, so after a long moment, Cameron does it for him. With one step she is face to face with him, their noses almost touching. Before House can protest, Cameron leans forward and kisses him passionately. He responds eagerly, pulling her close. He has lost track of all time, they both have. Minutes or even hours could have passed by , and they wouldn't know. Gasping for air, faces flushed, they break apart.
"House?" Cameron sounds hesitant.
"Yeah?"
"About what I said earlier," She pauses, and looks down at her feet shyly, " I lied." He gives her a slight, crooked smile. " I know," He says simply. A stray piece of hair is hanging in front of her face, and with a gentle hand he tucks it behind her ear. If she is surprised, she doesn't show it. Instead, she gazes up at him and waits for him to continue. " Everybody lies," He says finally, "Even me."
Cameron's eyes are filled with hope, "You mean..."
" Yes Cameron, I like you." ' I like you a whole lot more then you will ever know.' He adds silently to himself.
And now, they stare at each other in silence, there eyes showing feelings they once refused to express. Except now, their eyes mirror one another's feelings perfectly, because both pairs of eyes are showing the same thing. Love.
THE END
