I Am Emma Swan

Chapter 19

Detectives West and Dracona arrive at the State Police office in Ellsworth, Maine. They are the officers who have jurisdiction to Storybrooke. Walking into the office the Boston detectives were greeted by a young man with dark brown hair and a goatee dressed in State police brown uniform.

"Hi, welcome to Maine, I'm Sergeant Will Scarlet and over there is Trooper first class, Philip Prince."

Zelena held her hand out and shook the Sergeants hand as well as the trooper's. "Nice to meet you, I'm Detective Zelena West and this is my partner, Maleficent Dracona."

"Nice to meet you and thank you for agreeing to see us."

"Please come to my office and explain what's going on, I assume I received the abridged version on the phone?"

"Yes of course, should we call the sheriff in Storybrooke and have him join the conversation?"

"Not yet, I want to see what you have first, we can't just go there without an actual crime or evidence and the sheriff won't like us coming to his town and inform him of a crime happening right under his nose."

Zelena and Maleficent explained what they know which wasn't a whole lot and the sergeant and trooper weren't sure of the lack of real evidence and told the detectives that. West argued with Scarlet and it was becoming heated when her phone rang. She left the small office and went outside to answer it.

"Detective West."

"Oh, thank god, it's me Archie!"

"Where are you? Are you alright?" West asked as she quickly went back into the office and put the phone on speaker. "Hey we're in Ellsworth Maine with the State Police. I have your phone but I need the password to hear the messages."

"Yeah, I'm all right now it was a close one and I have the hitman here with me. Oh, and the code is 0412 to get into that phone. I'm using this guy's phone if you want to trace it or find out who he is. He's uh unconscious again I didn't want to just leave him there, he might come back and finish the job. And it won't be long until I'm there with the speed I'm going, I'm over an hour away from you now."

"Okay, we're going to listen to the Mills' messages.

Archie could hear Regina's muffled voice through his phone. He took a deep breath and continued driving towards West and the State police hoping they're all okay in Storybrooke.

The four were standing around the desk when Zelena accessed the last voicemail.

"Archie, I don't know how to say this, but there's an imposter posing as Judith and they're drugging this poor woman. We think her name is Emma Swan. We don't know what they've done with Judith. You need to get back here now, please Archie."

"Jesus." Will Scarlet breathed. "I'll call Judge Vidrio for a warrant she owes me a favour."

"What do you know, Archie?"

"Judith married this man shortly after meeting him which I didn't understand or liked and she knew it. His name is Neal Cassidy I don't know much about him, I was going to look into him but then Judith called one day and said she was married. She said she had a prenup so I was relieved with that but he seemed off."

"Did you look into his background?"

"No, Judith asked me not to and then she asked me to look for a girl she was in the orphanage with. She didn't have a name but just some information, it wasn't a lot to go on but I did find out that the girl she's looking for is Emma Swan and I've been looking for her all this time following a lead that led me to Boston where she used to live but she met with a man and an older woman… oh shit! How did I not see this?!"

"What? What is it?"

"Neal Cassidy brought his mother Eugenia Cassidy to the estate just before he and Judith married. They're most likely the couple who met with Emma and took her away then killed the French woman to get rid of a loose end."

"Trooper Prince, call the sheriff and fill him in, we need to go to Storybrooke now!"

Neal and Jefferson are combing the secret passages looking for Henry. "I don't have time for this, the lawyer will be here soon and I'm now a mess. How do I get back to the bedroom?"

"What? Are you sure you're not just afraid of some dead ancestor popping up?"

"Fuck you Hatt, tell me which way!"

Hatt rolled his eyes and started back towards the bedroom. "No, you keep searching, I'm going back to get changed and meet with Gold. Your only job is to find that kid and get rid of him."

"It's going to cost you a lot more for the kid now."

"Yeah, yeah you told me before and I don't care."

Neal finally found his way back to Judith's bedroom, his face and clothes dirty, he was a mess. He stepped out of the room to go to his own when he saw Mary Margaret coming his way.

"There you are Mr. Cassidy; your mother has been looking for you. We found that young man Henry in the house but she dealt with him. She tried calling you many times."

"Great! Just great. Thank you, Mary Margaret."

"Are you alright Mr. Cassidy? You're in quite the state, where have you been to get so much dirt on you?"

"Yes, I'm fine. Do you need anything else?"

"I just wanted to speak with Judith and maybe help her get ready for your meeting." Mary Margaret explained as she went to move past her employer to get into the bedroom.

"NO! um no, she's fine. She's ready actually, she's just waiting on me now. So, you don't need to help her. Just make sure everything is ready for Mr. Gold when he arrives and tell Mother that Judith and I will be down soon."

"I should check to see if she wanted a snack, I wasn't here during lunch and she might be hungry, the snacks I prepare are not enough for dinner, surely."

Neal stepped in her way, "She's not hungry, she's fine. Now do as I tell you and go back to the kitchen."

"I apologize Mr. Cassidy." Mary Margaret replied with a dip of her head she turned around and went back downstairs.

When she got back to the kitchen, David was there dressed in a tux, he looked so handsome she could only smile at him because the encounter with Mr. Cassidy has her worried.

"What's wrong?"

"David, I…I think we're working for…I think Henry was telling the truth."

Annoyed with the day and all that he's had to endure this is the last place he wanted to be but 'needs must when the devil drives' he thought to himself. He straightened his jacket then pushed the illuminated button.

It took a few moments but the door opened to a short dark-haired woman dressed in a maid's uniform with an intense smile. She was actually a little scary looking.

"Hello! You must be Mr. Gold! So nice to meet you, please do come in, Mrs. Cassidy is waiting for you in the library!"

"Yes indeed, thank you."

The two walked through the hallway and into the library where Eugenia was sitting. Mary Margaret announced the guest and went back into the kitchen.

"Mrs. Cassidy."

"Mr. Gold welcome, please sit down. Neal and Judith will be down shortly."

"Good, I would like to get this done as quickly as possible I have other important things that I need to finish tonight."

"Of course, we would like this to be done quickly as well."

Mr. Gold sat down and placed his briefcase beside him on the chair. He opened it up with two clicks and pulled out a number of papers and organized them on the table in front of him.

"Do you want to go over your will first before the others join us?"

"Yes, that would be wonderful. But first, would you like something to nibble on? Mary Margaret prepared some wonderful treats for us."

"Actually, that would be lovely thank you I am a bit peckish I didn't get chance to eat lunch."

"Well, you're in for a treat, Mary Margaret is a fantastic cook and she's been a wonderful companion to Judith during her ill health."

"Very good, let's get started, shall we? This is your will; I just need for you to read it over to make sure the instructions for your properties and belongings are correct and who they go to have the correct spelling especially the beneficiaries. We must have all our i's dotted and t's crossed."

Sheriff Booth was about to leave the office for the day when his phone rang, he wanted to ignore it but ever since his encounter with Ms. Mills he'd been on edge and started to look into Neal Cassidy. He put a few feelers out for information so this call could be about that. With a grunt he accepted the call.

"Sheriff Booth."

"Sheriff, this is Sergeant Scarlet from Ellsworth State Police, I'm on my way to your town with a few troopers and two detectives from Boston. We have reason to believe there is a woman in distress at the Spencer-Cassidy estate."

"Boston?"

"Yes, they're only here to assist not to make any arrests."

"And who is this woman that needs your assistance?"

"We believe a woman by the name of Emma Swan has been abducted and held against her will by the Cassidy's."

"The Cassidy's, eh? I've been looking into them myself."

"Great, look we're coming over the causeway now we'll be at your office in a few minutes."

Henry looked around the office in panic, he knew he had to get himself free before the crazy lady, her son or the man from the tunnels came for him. He was glad that she used duct tape to bind him to the chair because he and his mother learned how to get out of sticky situations when she was doing research for one of her books.

He leaned back and then as hard as he could bent forward. It loosened the tape a bit but didn't break it, so he tried it again and this time he broke free. 'Gotta love youtube,' he thought to himself. He pulled the tape from around his mouth with a grimace," OW! that hurt!" He then freed his feet of the duct tape and got up out of chair.

Looking around the room he recognized it as Judith's father's office, after her parents passed, she rarely used it because it made her sad. He went to the door, but he could hear people talking behind it. He needed to find a way out. He checked all the windows, but none would budge when he tried to open them.

Henry tried to remember which rooms the tunnels connected with. He and Judith usually only used the one in her bedroom because it went straight to the beach, he found the library one earlier. There was one in the pantry, but he didn't think he would make it there without being seen.

His eyes widened when he remembered Judith telling him that there was one in here, but she never showed it to him. Walking towards the bookcase he searched for a lever to move it but didn't find anything. He then went behind the desk and as he was searching, he heard a noise from the paneled wall next to him.

Believing there was someone there, he stepped away from the tapping noise and searched for something to use to defend himself. He quickly ran over to the fireplace and took the shovel and hid behind the desk. A few minutes passed and the panel clicked and then slid opened and the man on the beach walked through looking around the room.
