I Am Emma Swan

Chapter 22

After months away Archie was finally back home and drove through his town. He stopped at the Sheriff's office and greeted his old friend Deputy John Little before having him help to bring in the hitman who tried to kill him. They put him in the cell next to Jefferson Hatt which was perfect since they found out that they were accomplices. John said he would make sure these stayed put and that all the action was at the Spencer estate where Archie was off to next.

The drive to the estate was with a heavy heart not knowing if the person he loved most in the world was alive. Even though he went on this lengthy search for Judith, things between them were unresolved, and not supporting her choices weighed heavily on him.

He didn't see any police vehicles as he passed by the estate, so he drove down to the access road where the police were stationed near the Spencer home. After pulling over he was greeted by a trooper asking for I.D. he was then taken to Sergeant Scarlett.

The sergeant brought Archie up to speed and waited for the sheriff, the deputy along with West and Dracona to give them the go ahead.

It was now a waiting game, there were still 5 people inside the home 2 confirmed hostages and the others unknown with the two suspects.

"Did Henry get out of there?" Archie asked looking for the boy amongst the police vehicles.

"Henry got out safe but he's now showing the officers the secret passageway to get into the house undetected. It's our best chance of getting the others out safely. Once he's showed them, he'll be brought back here. He's in good hands."

"He must be beside himself with everything that's happened. Judith was his best friend and now they have his mother."

"He was frightened when came across the officers, but he's been really helpful. I'm sure he's most likely still in shock and once this is over it'll probably hit him. Poor kid was duct taped to a chair but was able to get free. He said it was because his mom showed him how to get out any scenario. Smart cookie her and the boy."

"Yes, those two are quite the pair, they always seem to bring the town to life when they're here. They're both well loved."

"We'll have them both out and safe soon, don't worry. Mr. Hopper."

Regina quickly raised her hands above her head and stepped backwards into the bedroom. Finally looking at the person behind the gun she frowned, "Who are you?"

"I'm Detective West and behind me is Detective Dracona, we're from the Boston police." Zelena introduced them as they lowered their guns.

"Police? Oh, thank God, I'm Regina Mills they tied me up and locked me in here. I need to find my son Henry."

"Henry is fine and with the police outside. He showed us how to get in here to find you and Emma Swan without being detected. We heard a noise and came over and lo and behold here you are. Neat little trick to get the key out of the lock and under the door."

"He's okay?" Regina released a heavy sigh and slumped down onto the bed. "I've been so worried about him. We need to get to Emma. They're using her to pose as Judith Spencer to sign a new will leaving everything to that...that rat bastard Neal Cassidy and his bitch of a mother Eugenia."

The deputy came into the bedroom and shut the door while the troopers remained on lookout.

"Deputy Gardener?"

"Ms. Mills, good to see you're okay, Henry has been great, and I just heard from Sergeant Scarlett that he's with Archie now."

"Archie's back?"

"He arrived a short while ago. Why don't you go through the tunnel and join them we'll take it from here?"

"I…I… but what about Emma? I want to help her. She's been through so much." Feeling torn, Regina didn't want to leave Emma, but she needed to see her son. "Promise me Deputy, you'll get her out of here unharmed. Please. I…we need her."

"We're going to do everything we can to get her out of here safe and sound, I promise. Now go to your boy and give him the biggest hug you can."

"You have been a great help Regina, we wouldn't be here if it weren't for you. We believe those two were involved in a homicide in Boston." West explained placing her hand on the brunette's shoulder.

"And Judith, I'm sure they've killed her too." Regina conveyed regrettably.

"We're going to stop them and put them away. Now get going we need to end this now." Deputy Gardener prompted the author and nodded to a trooper to tag along until she was out of the house.

"Now, Booth knows we're up here we just need to make sure Swan, Gold and the two house employees are cleared before we make our move on the Cassidy's. Booth said that Neal was armed."

"One of your men should be able to get into the kitchen through the back door and take them out the same way."

"Already in the works, once they're out it's just Ms. Swan and the lawyer."

"Let's do this, time to take the Cassidy's down."

Mr. Gold and Emma have been going through the will section by section confirming the beneficiaries as well as the properties and the business her parents left her after their passing. Emma felt terrible for the real Judith who had so much yet barely left her home. Brought up by two loving parents that gave her everything she could ever want yet they were overbearing and kept her isolated from the outside world.

Mr. Gold cleared his throat bringing Emma back from her musings. "Shall we continue, Judith?"

"Yes, please excuse me, I just got lost in thought. Where were we?"

"We've established the homes in Italy, France, Spain and the home in Greenwich, the shares of the business, and from your last will you had some jewelry as well as a few trinkets to be left. Do you want to keep that the same or change it?"

"I…um who do I have as the beneficiary? I'm sorry but I've forgotten."

"It's odd but you stated that a trinket box was to be left to your fraternal twin sister, unknown name to date."

"I…I left it to my twin sister?"

"You did but you had a codicil created for this trinket box and once you found your twin sister, the name would have been added. How do you not remember this, Judith?"

Emma ignored him, stood up and walked over to the window and stared out. The one memory she kept throughout this ordeal played back in her mind again. She was four or five years old playing with another blonde girl, they were laughing and hugging. She was happy, it was the only happy memory she's had. Then one day her friend was gone, and she was left alone.

"Judith? Are you alright?"

"Yes, I'm sorry, Mr. Gold but not knowing my sister's name or whereabouts is hard for me. Shall we continue? I do want to keep that part the same." She smiled at the lawyer then looked back out the window, she could've sworn she saw someone behind the tree.

"Not much more, Judith and we'll be done."

"Great, just great. Thank you for doing this today."

"Well, your mother-in-law is difficult to say no to."

"Isn't that the truth?"

"Okay let's read this over and then we can sign on the dotted line."

Sheriff Booth had been chatting away with Mary Margaret when she came out to see if the Cassidy's needed anything. She had never met the man before, but she found him rugged and handsome and very engaging. She even thought he was flirting with her.

Sheriff Booth was glad for the interruption, he had used up all his excuses to stay and he knew Eugenia was suspicious of him and it helped that the little maid was cute and bubbly.

"And how long have you worked with the Cassidy's?"

"Oh, just a couple of months now, looking after Em…eh Judith has been very fulfilling seeing how much she's changed, she's so much better than when we first met."

"Is that so? She was ill I was told."

"Yes, it seemed she was, but Judith is closer to being her old self now."

Eugenia watched Mary Margaret chatting up the sheriff not liking how close they were nor what the maid was saying. Does she know? Has she figured out who Judith really was? Glancing over to her son, she can see he's thinking the same. He sent a quick message and stood next to his mother showing her the text he sent. She nodded her head in agreement and continued to watch the sheriff.

"If it wouldn't be a bother, could I trouble you for a glass of water?"

"Of course, let me go get it quick as a bunny."

"I can get it myself if you just show me the way to the kitchen."

"I'll do one better and escort you myself."

"Thank you, kind lady," Booth smiled at the mother and son and dipped his hat, "I won't be long and then I'll be out of your hair."

Scarlett sent the order for an officer to go through the kitchen door and retrieve the maid and gardener now that Booth had moved her from the Cassidy's.

A few moments later the officer came through everyone's headset, "10-999 officer down, Booth is in the kitchen unconscious and there's no sign of the maid or anyone else."
