I Am Emma Swan
Chapter 24
"Excuse me? What did you just say?" Mr. Gold asked confusion written all over his face.
"I said I can't sign this because I'm not Judith Spencer. My name is Emma Swan."
"You bitch! I'm going to kill you!" Neal roared pulling out his gun and pointing it at Emma.
"NOW! NOW! NOW! Go in now!" Scarlett ordered the officers in the house then he with the remaining troopers run towards the estate for backup.
Within seconds, Detectives West and Dracona along with Deputy Gardener burst through the library door with their guns drawn. The troopers came through the entrance off the kitchen with their guns drawn.
"POLICE! DROP YOUR WEAPONS!"
Neal shot at Emma causing chaos in the room. Deputy Gardener returned fire and hit Neal in the arm, falling to the floor he dropped his gun but tried to reach for it. "Don't move Cassidy or I'll finish the job."
Neal's shot grazed Emma who fell to the floor hitting her head on the corner of the table rendering her unconscious.
When the police entered the room David had pulled Mary Margaret roughly out of the chair, put his arm around her neck and drug her across the room with Eugenia by his side. Pulling a gun from his waistband that was hidden under his shirt he placed the barrel to the side of the maid's head.
"Drop your weapon, let her go." Detective West commanded with her gun pointed at the man. "There's no where to go, you are surrounded."
"No! NO!" David yelled tightening his arm around Mary Margaret's neck. "Back away from us or I'll kill her!"
"Not going to happen David." Dracona stated as she stood near her partner gun leveled at the man.
"Yes, it will, you are going to let us walk out of here or I'll kill Mary Margaret and anyone else that gets in our way. I have nothing to lose here, my gun is loaded I'll take as many with me as I can! Do you hear me? Let my mother and I go, and I'll spare this one's life."
"M…Mother?" Neal stuttered, "What the hell are you talking about?"
"It's true Neal, David is my son, your stepbrother." Eugenia confirmed resting her hand on David's shoulder.
"What are you talking about? I'm your only son!"
"No Neal, I had David a year after you, but I couldn't keep him, so his father and stepmother raised him. He and I only became reacquainted a couple of years ago after his father passed." She smiled at David, then looked back at Neal. "He's the son I've always wanted."
Neal was shocked and wished that he wasn't in cuffs. He couldn't believe what his mother was saying, he needed his medication, he needed a drink.
"Now, officers you will do as my son says, you will let us go or this young woman will die."
"Mom, I'm scared for Emma."
"I know sweetie, I am too but the police will save her, she'll be okay."
"That's right Kiddo, the cops got this." Archie agreed with Regina placing a hand on the boy's shoulder and watched as the State police got into position.
They heard Sergeant Scarlett give the command to go and they watched as officers moved towards the house.
Moments later they heard gunshots and Archie pulled Regina and Henry back into the police van. The three huddled together praying that everyone was okay.
It was a waiting game to see what had happened and if anyone was hurt. Henry released a breath he didn't realize he was holding when he felt his mother kiss the top of his head.
"I'm scared Mom, do you think Emma was hurt?
"I don't know Sweetheart; I hope she's okay. There are a lot of police here, I'm sure someone got her out of harms way."
"Do you think we'll ever know what happened to Judith?"
Archie's heart sank at the mention of her name, he knew deep down his best friend was gone but he just didn't want to accept it. He wouldn't until there was a body. Hopefully the police will get to the bottom of it all and not only find out what happened but why. Why would someone want to hurt the nicest, kindest person on this planet?
Quickly wiping away a fallen tear, he gave Henry a small smile. "I'm sure they'll find out, Henry."
Mr. Gold was at a loss, he was grabbed and taken out of the room when all hell broke loose, he was now being escorted quickly to base with a trooper at the far end of the estate. The trooper opened the van and asked him if he had any injuries Gold shook his head no and was asked to stay in the van until subjects were detained and everyone was out safely.
Gold noticed the other three people but didn't say anything, he sat down and tried to take in what had just happened.
"Who are you? Were you in the house? Are you alright?" Henry shot question after question at the older gentleman.
"Henry, stop it!" Regina admonished. "Let the man settle, if he wants to speak, he will."
"Sorry."
"It's alright, lad I'm just so very confused about what happened in there."
"What did happen in there, are you okay?"
"Yes, yes, I'm fine, thank you. I was in the house; we were going over wills and we were doing signatures and witnessing and then Judith wouldn't sign." Gold began but stopped and looked up at the three people. "Who are you and why are you here? Do you know why Judith Spencer-Cassidy said her name was Emma Swan?"
Henry smiled at this, he was glad she knew who she really was and that she stood up for herself and Judith. Before Henry could answer, Archie spoke.
Archie introduced everyone and explained that they were close friends with Judith and a little bit of what had happened to bring them all to where they were now, sitting in a van waiting.
Mr. Gold seemed overwhelmed by the new information, "I think I'm still in a bit of shock. Maybe it would be best if I went to see the paramedics."
Archie inquired if the man needed assistance, but he waved him off and walked to one of the ambulances waiting.
"You're not going to get away Eugenia, there's nothing left to do now but surrender. The house is surrounded." Deputy Gardener countered the old woman.
"Don't make me laugh, deputy, we're holding all the cards here. Now I want all of you to leave this room and those outside to back off."
"We can't do that Eugenia."
"You can and you will, or my darling David will squeeze her neck until it either breaks or she slowly chokes to death. Which would you prefer?"
Mary Margaret let out a gasp when David squeezed her neck a little more.
Sergeant Scarlett ordered the officers to slowly back out of the room leaving West, Dracona and Gardener inside.
"You as well." The older woman motioned to the three women.
"We can't leave, Eugenia."
One officer was about to take Neal out of the room, but Eugenia stopped him. "No, leave him for now."
The officer wasn't sure what to do then through his earpiece Scarlett told him to come out without the injured man.
"I hope you got a good shot Neal; Emma should be dead with all the trouble she's caused." Eugenia inquired with a small smirk. "She just had to ruin things, all she had to do was sign the damned will but no, she couldn't even do that."
"It wouldn't have worked y'know." West goaded the older woman. "We were already onto you. Your hitman messed up with Hopper, and we have an eyewitness placing you with Belle French before she was murdered. We've also arrested Hatt when he chased the boy onto the beach, and he's been singing ever since."
Eugenia scoffed, "It would have worked, I had it planned to the T but then Neal had to ruin it with his temper killing Judith in a fit of rage. Because of him it took longer, and we had to find a replacement and a new lawyer. My mistake was believing Neal was up to the task. It should have been David."
Neal growled and slowly stood up facing his mother. "Why are you saying these things? I've done everything you've asked. You would have nothing without me!"
"Neal, you've been nothing but a disappointment throughout this and well your entire life really, I thought when this was over I could have you committed and be done with you."
West looked to her partner and moved her eyes towards Emma. Dracona gave a brief glance and saw that Emma was awake and maneuvering to get up without being noticed. With that both detectives moved to their left to bring focus to them and away from Emma.
With the chaos earlier, things went array and objects from the desk fell to the floor. Emma saw Eugenia's letter opener and grabbed it, she slowly got to her knees, obscured by the desk she peeked to see where Mary Margaret was standing and if she could get to her.
With Neal barking at Eugenia and David, Dracona watched Mary Margaret trying to catch her eye. She cleared her throat, "Mary Margaret, it's going to be okay, just stay calm."
Mary Margaret looked at the detective and tried to reply but David's arm was tight around her neck. She knew she was going to die here today. David all but told her in the kitchen when he slapped her and pointed a gun at her. She thought he was a sweet gentle soul, but he was nothing but a cutthroat, ruthless, just a terrible, terrible man.
Staring at the detective she saw the woman's eyes shift to the right and winked. Mary Margaret couldn't move but she did glance over and saw Emma who was awake and on her knees. She quickly looked away towards the police. It was a do or die moment for the woman, she knew she needed to get away from David. There were ways to get out of the hold he had but she didn't know what they were, she needed him to loosen his arm a bit. "David, please not so tight, I can barely breathe. Please." She croaked out with her hands on his forearm.
Emma took this as a sign that Mary Margaret knew she was going to try something. She only hoped the cops in the room knew that as well. A distraction of some sort would be all that she needed. Neal was helping a bit with his whining about not being an only child, but he was only keeping Eugenia distracted not David.
David didn't lessen his hold on Mary Margaret, he did kind of like her, but her enthusiasm for life was a bit much. He had thought about bringing her with them, but Eugenia said no and that she would be dealt with like the others.
When he found out that Eugenia was his mother, he didn't know what to think. He never liked the woman who raised him, so finding out about his biological mother he couldn't wait to meet her. It was difficult to find her but once he did, she was everything he ever wanted in a mom. And he would do anything she asked of him. She told him that she loved him, and she wished she was able to raise him as she did Neal.
She never asked but he protected her with all he had. There were a few times that she and Neal were in trouble, and he came to the rescue without them knowing. The Spencer's were in the way, so he made sure they had an accident, giving his mother time for her game plan and no one was the wiser.
While being lost in thought his arm slackened and Mary Margaret could not only breathe better, but she was also now able to get away. She looked at Emma gave a nod, then to the police and then she kicked at David's knee then dropped as hard and she could and rolled away from him towards the police officers.
Shocked, and in pain David stumbled backwards at the same time Emma stood up and rushed him. Emma plowed into the gardener, knocking him down to the floor and knocking the gun out of his hand.
Dracona grabbed Mary Margaret and West quickly went over and safely pulled Emma away from the man and then subdued David, turning him over and bound him with a zip tie. Emma was standing next to the deputy when she saw Eugenia pick up the gun David dropped and point it at West.
"NO!" Emma screamed then ran towards Eugenia.
Sergeant Scarlett and the troopers rushed into the room after hearing two shots fired. Scanning the room, he quickly called for the paramedics. Everyone was laying on the floor but one, Deputy Gardener. He didn't know who was hurt or not. He went to Gardener and softly told her it was okay and to put her weapon down.
"It's okay, you're okay."
"She was going to…and Emma she…yelled and ran… was in my line of sight and…and…God is she okay?"
"Come on the paramedics are here, let's go outside. It's over now, it's all over."
