Chapter 3
Gravity Falls Part 1
After riding the gummi ship into the sky, Molly and Libby found themselves in what appeared to be outer space. The girls gazed outside of the window in awe as they were both excited that there were a bunch of worlds out there just waiting to be explored!
"Wow! This is incredible, isn't it, Libby? I can't believe that we are going to another world!" Molly exclaimed.
"Me neither! This is really exciting!" Libby replied as she kept her hands on the controls of the ship. "Although, I wish that this ship wasn't so slow."
"Aw, Libby! That's no way to talk about Mollibby!" Molly said, much to Libby's confusion.
Libby soon raised a confused eyebrow. "Mollibby?"
Molly nodded. "Yes! That's what I decided to name our ship! It is a name that is a combination of both of our names! What do you think?"
With an amused smile, Libby rolled her eyes. Truthfully, Libby didn't mind what the ship was called as long as Molly was happy.
"I love it! It is the perfect name for our ship!" Libby replied.
"I knew you would love it!" Molly exclaimed. "The name just shows how perfect we are together!"
At that moment, Molly leaned and gave Libby a kiss on the cheek, causing her to blush.
"Molly, you know that I love your kisses, but please don't distract me when I'm controlling the gummi ship." Libby said.
"Oops! Sorry!" Molly gave a sheepish grin before she took notice of something in the distance. "Hey, Libby! Look! I think I just found another world!"
Surprised, Libby looked over to where Molly was pointing at. Floating right in front of them was a world that appeared to be a bunch of woods with a shack in the middle of it.
"It looks like we are about to explore our first world! Are you ready, Libby?" Molly asked.
"I guess. I'm still a little scared, to be honest." Libby admitted.
"You have nothing to worry about, Libby! If any of the Heartless even think about attacking you, they would have to deal with my keyblade!" Molly assured as her keyblade appeared in her hand.
Just the idea of knowing that Molly would be by her side to protect her makes Libby feel better about going on this journey. As she took control of the recently named Mollibby, Libby carefully landed the ship in the woods of the new world.
Molly and Libby stepped out of the ship before taking a look around. As they traveled deeper into the woods, there was no sign of any Heartless anywhere, much to their relief. The only downside was that the girls had no idea where they would be able to find this keyhole. It wasn't long before they stopped in their tracks when they heard a couple of voices.
"Molly, do you hear something?" Libby asked as she listened in on the voices.
Molly nodded. "I think I hear someone taking. Let's go take a closer look!"
As they stepped closer, Molly and Libby took notice of a boy who was wearing a hat with a symbol of a pine tree on the front, along with a girl wearing a red sweater with a shooting star at the front.
"Dipper, are you sure we would find them here?" the girl asked the boy.
The boy named Dipper turned to face the girl and said, "Trust me, Mabel! According to my notes, these shadow creatures have been appearing at this very spot!"
Upon hearing the boy mention shadow creatures, Molly and Libby instantly knew that the Heartless were taking over this world too.
"They should be around here somewhere."
As Dipper was distracted from looking at his journal, he was unaware of a Heartless that was crawling towards him. Mabel noticed this and started to get worried.
"Uh, Dipper?" Mabel tried to warn Dipper about the Heartless before a bunch of other Heartless suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
The sudden appearance of the Heartless took the boy and girl by surprise. Seeing that they needed help, Molly and Libby summoned their keyblades and rushed over to help them. One by one, the Heartless got ready to attack. Molly and Libby soon stood in front of the Heartless before defeating them with their keyblades and best magic spells, surprising the boy and girl who were watching the whole thing.
Once the last of the Heartless were gone, Molly and Libby turned around to check on the twins that they just saved.
"Are you two okay?" Molly asked.
"Okay? We are better than okay!" The girl exclaimed with a cheerful grin. "You two were amazing with those keys! Where did you get them anyway?"
"Um, it's kind of a long story!" Libby explained.
"Anyway, thanks for saving us!" The boy stepped forward. "My name is Dipper and this is my sister, Mabel!"
"It's nice to meet you, Dipper and Mabel!" Molly smiled. "My name is Molly and this is my girlfriend, Libby!"
As Molly said that, Mabel's eyes widened from excitement.
"Did you just say girlfriend?"
"Oh no." Dipper facepalmed as he knew exactly where this was going.
"Oh my gosh, that is so cute! Did you two already have your first kiss? Did you go on any dates yet? Do you two plan to get married some day?"
Before Mabel could ask another question, Dipper pulled her back to keep her from annoying Molly and Libby.
"Sorry about her. She can get a little too excited when it comes to romance." Dipper explained.
"That's alright! So, do you know a place where we can stay safe from those shadow creatures?" Libby asked.
"Actually, there is this place called, The Mystery Shack, a tourist attraction that our great uncle, Stan used to run. We can hide over there and think of our next plan." Dipper pointed out.
"That sounds like a great idea, Dipper!" Molly agreed.
Before heading over to the Mystery Shack, Molly couldn't help but take notice of the rainbow on Mabel's sweater.
"By the way, Mabel! I really like your sweater!"
"Thanks, Molly! Do you like shooting stars too?" Mabel replied.
"I love shooting stars, along with other pretty things like rainbows!"
"Oh, my gosh! I love rainbows too!" Mabel said excitedly.
As Molly and Mabel were talking about rainbows and other happy related stuff, Dipper let out an annoyed sigh.
"Oh great! Now there's two of them!" Dipper muttered under his breath.
Libby knew how Dipper felt. As much as she loved Molly, Libby felt that Molly can be pretty overwhelming with her positive energy at times.
It wasn't long before Molly and Libby followed Dipper and Mabel to the Mystery Shack. Molly and Libby were both grateful that the Pines twins were helping them through the woods since there was no doubt that they would be lost by now. Since the walk was going to take awhile, Molly and Libby decided to have a conversation with Dipper and Mabel while being cautious of any nearby Heartless.
"So, Molly! I know that we just met, but can I say that you and Libby are adorable together? You two just seem so perfect together!" said Mabel.
"Aw! Thanks, Mabel!" Molly smiled.
"What's your secret, anyway?" Mabel asked, curious. "How were you able to get a girlfriend so easily?"
That was something that Molly hadn't thought of until now. After all the time she and Libby spent together, she remembered how excited she was when Libby asked her to be her girlfriend.
"Well, I guess I do have a little experience with romance since I have a friend from the senior center named, Patty and I helped reunite her with her long lost love, Bobby Daniels!" Molly remembered. "What about you, Mabel? Do you have a special someone in your life?"
Mabel shook her head. "Not really. My love life hasn't really been that great. Like, I once dated this guy named Norman, who turned out to be a bunch of gnomes, things didn't work out with this merman named Mermando, and there was also this guy named Gabe, who liked to make out with his puppet hands."
All of this was too much for Molly to take in. Hearing all of the strange things Mabel encountered weirded Molly out and that was saying a lot since she has a ghost for a best friend.
"Oh, wow! It sounds like you had a pretty, uh, interesting love life."
"Just be glad that you didn't meet Gideon! He tried to get me to fall in love with him even after I made it clear that I wasn't interested in him!" Mabel explained.
It was at that point when Molly started to feel sorry for Mabel. Molly knew what it was like to put up with boys who tried to hit on her even when she made it clear that she wasn't interested. Molly still cringed from remembering when Libby's cousin, Gordie tried to flirt with her at the Bat Mitzvah. Thankfully, Libby ended up being the one for her and she cherished every moment she spent with Libby.
"Don't worry, Mabel! I'm sure that you will find the love of your life someday! After all, I managed to find the love of my life." Molly explained before she turned to smile at Libby.
Soon, Mabel started to feel better as she sent Molly a grateful smile. "Thanks, Molly! You are a great friend!"
Meanwhile, Libby and Dipper were having their own conversation as well as they made their way to the Mystery Shack.
"So, Dipper! I really like that journal that you are carrying!" Libby complimented as she noticed Dipper's journal.
"Thanks, Libby! This is a journal that I got just recently! I used to write in the journal of my great uncle, Ford, but it unfortunately got destroyed, along with the rest of his journals." Dipper explained. "I use this journal to document creatures that I have never seen before, along with paranormal conspiracies."
As Dipper said that, Libby's eyes widened in surprise. "Wait! You like paranormal conspiracies too? I go after them all the time!"
"No way! Are there any kinds of creatures that you have documented too?" Dipper asked.
"Now that you've mentioned it, I have one creature that I'm after!" Libby reached into her pocket and took out a sheet of paper, revealing a drawing of what appeared to be a slug. "Behold! The Eastern Canadian Brain Slug! I once thought that this creature took control of Molly, but it turned out I was wrong. That doesn't mean that it is not out here somewhere!"
"Then I wish us both luck on our discoveries!" Dipper smiled.
Before long, everyone finally made it to the Mystery Shack. Staying true to its name, the Mystery Shack was a shack in the middle of the woods. Right on top of the shack was a sign that read, Mystery Shack, except the S from Shack was missing. Seeing this made Molly and Libby wonder what kind of strange attractions this place has.
As they entered the shack, Molly and Libby were greeted by all kinds of strange attractions. They looked around to see a large man standing behind the counter and a red haired teenage girl casually leaning against a chair with her legs crossed. The man behind the counter soon took notice of the Pines twins and waved to them.
"Hey, dudes!" The man spoke.
Even though Molly and Libby didn't know who that man was, Dipper and Mabel seemed to know him as they waved back and said, "Hey, Soos!"
Soon, the girl who was leaning in the chair took notice of Dipper and Mabel as well and waved to them before getting up.
"What's up, dorks! Did your hunt for those shadow creatures go well?" The girl asked.
"I suppose it could have gone better, Wendy." Dipper admitted.
"On the bright side, Dipper and I just made some new friends!" Mabel smiled before she went over to Molly and Libby to introduce them. "This is Molly and this is Libby!"
The girl named Wendy walked over to the two friends before shaking their hands.
"Nice to meet you! I'm Wendy and this is Soos! AKA Mr. Mystery!" Wendy said, introducing the man.
"Mr. Mystery?" Molly and Libby repeated.
Soos nodded. "That's right! It's my job to show all of our popular attractions to tourists! Take a look around and tell me what you think!"
It was at that moment when Molly and Libby walked through the gift shop to see what kind of oddities this place has. They both took notice of figurines that were hybrids of various existing animals.
"Um, these are all pretty interesting oddities that you have, Mr. Mystery!" Molly couldn't believe what she was seeing.
"Aw, shucks! I can't take all the credit! After all, Mr. Pines was the one who came up with those oddities in the first place." Soos explained.
"Who is Mr. Pines?" Libby asked.
"Mr. Pines is Dipper and Mabel's great-uncle and the original Mr. Mystery. He left me in charge of the Mystery Shack ever since he started going on adventures with his brother." Soos' smile soon faded as he thought back to all the good times he had with Mr. Pines. "We haven't seen him in a long time, and I kind of miss him."
Feeling sorry for Soos, Wendy placed a comforting arm around him.
"If I'm being honest, I kind of miss him too! Things here have been kind of boring without him."
As if on cue, the front door opened as a gruff voice said, "Sheesh! I've only been gone awhile and you're already missing me?"
At that moment, Molly and Libby brought their attention to the entrance to see two old men. They both looked identical, except one of them had six fingers on his hands instead of five. Surprised by this unexpected visit, Dipper and Mabel rushed over to the two old men.
"Grunkle Stan! Great Uncle Ford!" The Pines twins embraced their great uncles in a group hug.
Soon after, Soos and Wendy joined in on the hug.
"Mr. Pines! It's really you!" Soos exclaimed.
"We missed you, you old codger!" Wendy said.
With a chuckle the man named Stan eventually pulled back from the group hug, happy to see everyone again.
"What are you two doing here anyway?" Dipper asked, surprised to see his great uncles again.
This time, the six-fingered man named, Ford spoke up. "Well, my scanner just detected an anomaly that led us back to Gravity Falls, so we figured why not pay our family a visit!"
Upon hearing about the anomaly, Molly and Libby shared concerned looks with one another as they had an idea of what Ford was referring to.
"Excuse me, but what kind of anomaly were you talking about?" Molly asked Ford.
"I'm not quite sure myself. According to my scanner, it appears to be some kind of dark magic." As Ford took a look at his scanner, his expression turned confused before he gave the device a couple of taps. "This can't be right. The scanner is telling me that the anomaly is at this very spot."
Before anyone could question what was going on, a bunch of Heartless suddenly appeared in the Mystery Shack.
"Heartless!" Molly and Libby gasped before they summoned their keyblades, surprising everyone in the shack, except for Dipper and Mabel.
Once they were ready, Molly and Libby rushed towards the Heartless, swinging their keyblades. In the midst of the fight, Molly and Libby accidentally knocked down a couple of souvenirs from the shelves, much to the annoyance of Stan.
"Hey, watch the merchandise!" Stan called out. "I may no longer be running the Mystery Shack, but the rule still stands! You break it, you buy it!"
"Sorry!" Molly apologized while blocking a swipe from the Heartless with her keyblade.
It wasn't long before the last of the Heartless were defeated and Molly and Libby panted from exhaustion, leaving everyone with so many questions.
"Whoa! What the heck just happened?" Wendy asked, as she couldn't believe what she just saw.
"Those were the Heartless! They are creatures that are attracted to the darkness in one's heart." Libby answered, remembering what she learned in her several days of training.
"How interesting. I wonder if there is any darkness in your heart that summoned them, Stanley." Ford sent a suspicious look towards his brother.
"Hey, I might scam people from time to time, but that doesn't mean I was the one who summoned those Heartless creatures!" Stan defended before taking notice of Molly and Libby's keyblades. "By the way, those are some pretty valuable looking keys that you've got there! You wouldn't mind if I take them off your hands and sell them for a good price, would you?"
"Yes, we would!" Molly and Libby said in unison, as their keyblades disappeared from their hands so Stan won't get any ideas on selling their weapons.
Stan simply shrugged his shoulders. "Eh, it was worth a shot!"
The silence of the Mystery Shack was soon broken when a beeping noise emitted from Ford's scanner. He looked at the scanner to see that there were now more Heartless than ever.
"This is worse than I thought! It appears that more of these creatures are invading Gravity Falls as we speak!" Ford couldn't believe what he was seeing.
"Don't worry! Libby and I know how to handle this!" Molly assured. "We just need to find a keyhole to seal with our keyblades and you shouldn't have to worry about the Heartless anymore!"
Intrigued by this new information, Ford decided to listen to what Molly and Libby had to say. "Fascinating! Where do you suppose we would find this keyhole?"
"We actually don't know." Libby admitted as she didn't even know where to look.
Despite how unconfident Molly and Libby appeared, Ford didn't let it faze him.
"Not to worry! This is just another mystery for us to solve, but we can't solve it alone." Ford explained before turning to his great-niece and nephew. "What do you say, Dipper and Mabel? Want to help save the world again?"
"Do you even need to ask?" Dipper replied, excited to go on another adventure.
"Yeah! This would be just like last summer!" Mabel jumped for joy.
As everyone else agreed to come along, Molly and Libby were filled with relief, knowing that they didn't have to go on this journey alone. Now that they had the help of their new friends, they felt that their journey might not be so bad.
AN: Surprise! The worlds that Molly and Libby would be exploring would be worlds from Disney tv series! I know that it is kind of a stretch to refer to Gravity Falls as another world, but the worlds would make more sense as the story goes on. Also, during one of my play throughs of Kingdom Hearts, I gave the raft at the beginning of the game the name, Mollibby as a joke and it ended up being the name of the Gummi Ship. I thought why not do the same for this story, so Mollibby is now Molly and Libby's ship name in more ways than one!
