Letters To and From Fred
Six year old Fred Weasley II lived a mostly happy life.
He got along with his baby sister Roxanne, his dad would always help him with pranks if he asked and if he pulled a prank on his dad, he would always tell him he was proud of him, he got unlimited free stuff from the joke shop, and his dad would always get him extravagant gift baskets on his birthday from the shop.
But there was one day he didn't like. The one day that meant sadness.
May 2nd. When the shop closed up for the day, when his mum won't come out of her room, and when his daddy cries and looks at old pictures of himself and Uncle Fred. Fred II didn't like seeing his dad cry. He wanted him to be happy.
Fred II wanted desperately to be like his namesake and he wished he could meet him.
So one May 2nd, much like any other, Fred II decides to try something different.
He grabs a crayon and writes.
Dear Uncle Fred,
I don't like May 2nd. Daddy's always sad today. I want him to be happy. Mummy says Daddy was always happy when you were around. I wish you were here to make him happy again.
What were you like when you were alive? I want to be like you so I can play the best pranks ever and cheer up Daddy.
Fred II
Fred II handed the note to the family owl, Hannie, and asked,
"If you can, please send this to Uncle Fred."
Hannie flew out the window with the letter in her beak.
The next day Hannie returnedā¦and she had a different letter in her beak, addressed to Fred Weasley II.
Fred II tore open the envelope and read:
Dear mini-me,
What was I like when I was alive? Well, I'd say, brave, handsome, charming, hilarious, handsome, dashing, talented, handsomeā¦did I say handsome?
I still watch over you and the rest of the family. And you know what? It upsets me when Georgie boy is sad too. When he cries, I cry too. You're not alone in this.
And you don't have to be just like me to play the best pranks ever (although it helps.). I'm incredibly proud of you already, and just between you and me, you're my favourite nephew.
Keep making me proud. I wish I could talk to you in person.
With love, magic and mischief,
Uncle Fred aka Uncle Gred aka Insanely Hot Bastard
P.S: Tell George that I love him. And show him this letter, too. I think it'll cheer him up.
Fred II finished reading the letter, smiled and ran off to show his dad.
