Chapter 8
Mewni Part 2
For the past couple of days, Molly and Libby have been searching Mewni for the keyhole. Neither of them had any luck so far and ended up fighting more Heartless instead.
This went on until one morning, where Molly and Libby helped Star and Marco battle Ludo's monster army once again. Just like last time, the group of friends defeated Ludo's army and they had to retreat back to Mewni. However, right before he entered the portal, Toffee took one glance at Molly and Libby before he decided to speak to them.
"You two. May I have a word?" Toffee got Molly and Libby's attention.
This surprised Molly and Libby since they never thought that one of their enemies would want to speak with them. They decided to hear him out, but still kept their keyblades out just in case.
"Um, sure, but why would you want to talk to us? Aren't you one of Ludo's henchmen?" Molly asked.
"I'd prefer to think of myself as an associate." Toffee calmly replied. "Even though we are enemies, I must admit, I am impressed with you two and your keyblades."
As Toffee mentioned the keyblades, Molly and Libby stared at him in surprise. Apart from Star and Marco, Molly and Libby have never told anyone about the keyblades.
"But how do you know about our keyblades?" Libby asked.
"I have my ways!" Toffee gave a vague answer. "Let me guess, you want to save Mewni by sealing the keyhole so the Heartless can't come back."
Molly couldn't believe what she heard. She could only imagine what else this monster was aware of. "Listen, Mr., uh-" Molly paused when she realized that she didn't get Toffee's name.
"Toffee."
"Toffee, I don't know how you know about the keyblades and the keyhole, but Libby and I have to find the keyhole to save the world!" Molly explained. "Do you know where we can find it?"
"No, and even if I do know, I won't tell you! Do you really believe finding the keyhole would do you much good? Why would you want to save a world where the Butterfly's dangerous magic exists?" Toffee pointed to Star.
"What do you mean? Their magic isn't dangerous!" said Libby.
"You say that now, but you wouldn't think that once you fall victim to their magic as well!" Toffee held up his hand, revealing that he was missing a finger.
Without another word, Toffee returned to the portal where he joined Ludo and the others. As the portal disappeared out of sight, Molly and Libby decided to meet up with Star and Marco.
"Hey, who was that reptile guy you were talking to?" Marco asked.
"Some guy named, Toffee." Molly answered. "He seems to know about the keyblades Libby and I wield."
"Do you think we should be worried, Molly?" Libby asked.
"I don't know, Libby. There is something about Toffee that worries me!" Molly admitted.
"Well, don't worry! We won't be seeing Ludo's army for awhile anyway." Star pointed out. "So, now that Ludo and his army are gone, what would you like to do now?"
Before anyone could think of what to do next, fire suddenly appeared right next to them. Stepping out of the flames was a teenage boy. He had spiky salmon-colored hair and a pair of shades that he removed to reveal himself to be a three eyed demon.
"Hey, Star! I'm here to take you to the Blood Moon Ball!" the demon spoke, offering his hand for Star.
Everyone brought their attention to Star, who appeared to be annoyed with the demon more than anything else.
"No, you need to leave right now! Go back to the underworld!" Star yelled, wanting nothing to do with the demon.
"Oh, come on, Starship! It is the Blood Moon Ball It only happens once every 667 years!" the demon tried to reason with Star.
"We broke up! Period!"
As Star continued to argue with the demon, Molly and Libby were left wondering what was going on.
"Marco, who is that demon?" Libby whispered.
"I think that's supposed to be Tom, Star's demon ex boyfriend." Marco whispered back.
"Ooh! The drama! You'd better ask Star to the dance before she ends up falling for Tom!" Molly teased, much to Marco's annoyance.
Star turned to leave, but Tom didn't come this far just to give up.
"Wait, Star! I'm a changed man! I've got a life coach! Brian!" Tom introduced his life coach, who gave everyone a friendly wave. "Not to mention that I have been anger free for 53 days!"
At that moment, Star brought her attention back to Tom, surprised that he stayed calmed for several days straight. Normally, Star would just reject him, but thought that she should at least give him the benefit of a doubt.
"I suppose one night couldn't hurt."
"Attending a ball actually sounds like a lot of fun! Can Libby and I come too?" Molly asked, holding Libby hand. "I'm sure that it would be a romantic night for the two of us!"
"Um, sure. Why not? The more the merrier, I guess." Tom agreed.
"What about Marco? Can he come too?" Star asked, despite Marco showing no interest in going.
Tom took one look at Marco and glared at him, who in turn glared back. There was something about Tom that Marco didn't like and he wasn't comfortable with Star going to the ball with some demon.
"Sorry, but this ball is for couples only!"
Considering how quickly Tom agreed to letting Molly and Libby coming along, they could tell that Tom just made that up because he didn't want Marco to be there.
"Anyway, toll this bell when you are ready to go with me." Tom said before handing Star a tiny bell. "I'll see you tonight!"
Tom bid Star farewell before returning to the underworld. Once Tom left, Star began to feel bad for Marco, knowing that he was the only one who wasn't invited to the ball.
"Sorry you can't come to the ball, Marco." Star sympathized.
"Don't worry about it, Star! I'll just stay here, eating nachos!" Marco replied. "Are you sure you wouldn't want to stay here instead? It could be way more fun here! Besides, I don't exactly trust Tom!"
"I'm sure that I'll be fine at the ball, Marco! Anyway, let's go, you two! We have a dance to get ready for!" Star said to Molly and Libby before choosing their dresses for the dance.
Later that night, Molly and Libby made some last minute preparations for the ball as they put on dresses for the occasion. Libby put on a light green dress before taking a look at herself in the mirror. She gave a smile as she was happy with her dress.
Once she was ready for the ball, Libby made her way over to the guest bedroom before knocking on the door.
"Come in!" came Molly's voice from the other side of the door.
As Libby opened the door, her eyes widened in surprise the moment she saw Molly. Libby's mouth hung open as she gazed at Molly in her bright pink dress.
"How do I look, Libby?" Molly asked.
"You look so beautiful!" That was all Libby could say as she couldn't get over how beautiful Molly looked.
"Thanks, Libby" Molly started to blush. "You look beautiful too!"
Before long, Star showed up in her dress as well, ready for the ball.
"It looks like we are all ready! We are going to have so much fun tonight!" Star exclaimed.
"I'm sure that we will! Are you sure that you would want to stay here by yourself, Marco?" Libby asked, wanting to make sure that Marco didn't feel left out.
"I'll be fine! You and Molly just enjoy the dance together! And Star, you might want to be careful around Tom! There is something about him that I just don't like!" Marco explained.
"Don't worry, Marco! I'm sure that we'll all have fun tonight! I'll see you after the Blood Moon Ball!"
With that Star took out the bell Tom gave her and gave it a toll. It was at that moment when an elevator carried by a demon rose from the ground and up towards the balcony. The doors to the elevator opened to reveal Tom, who was wearing a tux with a charming smile.
"Star, you look beautiful tonight! Shall we got to the dance?" Tom asked, offering his hand to Star.
"Um, sure, Tom." Star accepted Tom's hand as they entered the elevator.
Molly and Libby soon followed shortly afterwards. After stepping into the elevator and sitting down next to each other, Molly and Libby took one more glance at Marco before the doors closed. They both admittedly felt bad for Marco. Even if he won't admit it, they knew that Marco just wanted to spend time with Star.
It wasn't long before the elevator made its descent into the underworld. Awkward silence filled the elevator as Star wasn't paying too much attention to Tom. To break the silence, Molly and Libby decided to talk to one another.
"I never would have thought that I would be going to a ball like this. It's kind of sad that Marco didn't ask Star to the dance first." Libby whispered.
"I know, right? Star and Marco just seemed so perfect together! I always assumed that they would end up together!" Molly whispered back.
"Uh, you two do know that we can hear you, right?" Tom gave an annoyed look towards Molly and Libby.
"Sorry!" Molly and Libby apologized in unison, with a couple of sheepish grins.
Now, the rest of the ride down was more awkward than ever! Molly and Libby avoided eye contact with Star and Tom for the rest of the ride before they finally reached the underworld. Everyone soon entered the ballroom, but it was not what Molly, Libby, and Star expected.
There were barely any guests at all, and they all seemed to be pretty bored with how things turned out.
"Okay. This was not what I expected from the Blood Moon Ball." Molly was surprised by how boring the ball was.
"Trust me, it will get better! For now, let's all get our pictures taken!" Tom replied before leading everyone to the photo area, where couples were getting drenched by some kind of red liquid from above. "I'm so excited to be covered in blood with you, Star."
The moment Tom said that, Libby gasped in shock. "D-Did you just say, b-b-blood? I think I'm going to be sick!" Libby started to feel queasy as she did her best not to throw up.
"Relax! It's not real blood! It came from a unicorn!" Tom explained.
"How is that any better?" Molly yelled, disgusted something as majestic as a unicorn was just killed.
"Yeah! Not to mention that one of my best friends is a unicorn!" Star added.
"Well, they're not related!" Tom replied.
"I'm not gonna bathe in unicorn blood, Tom!" Star refused.
Soon, Tom's eye began to twitch as he started to get angry.
"Uh, come on, Libby! Let's go somewhere less awkward." Molly took Libby's hand and took her over to the punch bowl.
As Molly and Libby went over to get some punch, they took notice of Tom's life coach, Brian.
"Oh, hi, Brian!" Molly gave him a friendly wave.
Brian turned to face Molly and Libby and waved back. "Hello! How are you two enjoying the dance so far?"
"It's alright, I guess." Libby replied, not even hiding the fact that the ball wasn't that great.
"I can tell that you are not having fun, but don't worry! I promise that the ball would get better! Do you see that skylight up there?" Brian pointed up towards the ceiling. "When the ball starts, the skylight would shine the light of the blood moon onto two lovers and bind their souls for eternity."
"Wow! That actually sounds beautiful!" Molly liked the sound of that.
Libby nodded in agreement. "Yeah! It sounds so romantic!"
"Well, it should be starting any minute. Anyway, I hope you two enjoy the rest of the dance." Brian said before walking away to get some more punch.
After a few minutes of waiting, music began to play and the Blood Moon Ball officially began. With a smile, Molly offered her hand towards Libby, who accepted the dance with her. The two girlfriends made their way to the dance floor before wrapping their arms around each other as they began to dance.
Despite having a dance in the underworld of all places, Molly and Libby felt safe in each others arms. Throughout their dance, they stared lovingly towards each other, enjoying every second of their waltz.
"This has been a pretty strange ball, hasn't it, Molly?" Libby asked.
"Yes, but I'm happy to be spending this dance with you, Libby!" Molly said with a blush.
Libby soon blushed as well before she and Molly shared a kiss with each other. They were so lost in each others eyes, they were caught off guard when a stranger in a Dia de los Muertos costume bumped into them.
"Oops! Sorry!" The stranger apologized, trying to cover his face.
"Oh, that's alright!" Libby brought her attention back to Molly before the girls realized something.
"Wait a minute! Marco? Is that you?" Molly asked the stranger.
With a sigh, the stranger turned around and briefly took off his mask to reveal that it was indeed Marco.
"What are you doing here? I thought you wanted to stay home." Libby recalled.
"I thought I would stay home too, but I'm worried about Star and I want to make sure she is okay!" Marco explained.
"Aww! You really do love her!" Molly squealed in joy.
"Would you cut that out, Molly?" Marco got annoyed with her. "Just try not to give away my cover until I can find Star!"
At that moment, Marco, sneaked through the ballroom, trying to not to draw any attention to himself. He pushed his way through the crowd of guess before stumbling and bumping into Star. They both started at one another in silence before the light of the Blood Moon shined down on the two of them.
With everyone in the room watching them, Star and Marco knew that they had no choice but to dance. They both felt their hearts beating faster every second they danced together. Star had no idea who this mysterious stranger was, but she already found herself attracted to him. Tom got infuriated the moment he noticed this, so he marched over to put a stop to it.
"Hey, Star." Marco whispered to Star.
"How did you know my name?" Star asked, attracted to the stranger.
Marco then removed his mask, revealing his identity to Star. "It's me! Marco!"
Surprised by this, Star gasped in shock. "Marco? What are you doing here?"
"Let's get out of here! This place is the worst!"
Before Marco could react, he was caught off guard when he was suddenly pushed to the floor by a furious Tom. That was when the light of the Blood Moon faded. It took a moment for Tom to process that he just lost his chance with Star. His eyes soon turned blood red as he glared at Marco with pure hatred.
"That dance was meant FOR ME!" Tom screamed those last two words before summoning fire all around the dance floor.
At that moment, Brian approached Tom and did his best to calm him down.
"Walk it out!"
"No, Brian!" Tom pushed Brian to the side.
Flames appeared from Tom's hands as he was ready to kill Marco. Thankfully, Molly and Libby interfered at the last moment.
"Tom, wait! Please just calm down and we can talk about this!" Molly tried to reason with Tom.
"Molly is right! This is all just a misunderstanding!" Libby added.
This time, Tom glared at Molly and Libby with his glowing red eyes. The girls felt intimidated, but did their best to stay calm.
"Stay out of this! If you don't leave right now, I won't hesitate to kill you too!" Tom yelled.
It was at that point when Molly and Libby knew where this was going, so they both sighed as they got ready to fight.
"Just when I thought Molly and I were going to have a wonderful night together!" Libby summoned her keyblade, annoyed that Tom just ruined her romantic night with Molly.
Once the girls summoned their keyblades, Tom began to throw fireballs at them, to which they dodged with ease. This unfortunately caused the entire ballroom to get consumed in flames. Thinking fast, Molly and Libby used their water spells to extinguish the flames and save the guests.
This only made Tom more infuriated, so he got ready to attack once again. Before Tom could summon more flames, Molly and Libby used their ice spells to freeze Tom's arm. Tom stared at his frozen arm and tried to break free, only for his other arm to get frozen shortly afterwards. Molly and Libby continued to freeze Tom until he was trapped in a block of ice. With Tom no longer causing any trouble, Molly and Libby carefully approached his frozen body.
"Is he going to be okay?" Molly asked, wondering if she and Libby went too far with their ice spells.
Brian took one look at Tom before he replied, "Not to worry! He should thaw out in a couple of hours. That should be plenty of time for him to cool down!"
With that, Brian dragged Tom's frozen body out of the ballroom, leaving everyone in awkward silence.
With the Blood Moon Ball over, Molly, Libby, Star, and Marco rode the elevator up to the surface and back to the Diaz household. After returning to the balcony, Star let out a frustrated sigh.
"Ugh! So infuriating!"
"I hate to say it, but I warned you about Tom." said Marco.
"No! You! You're infuriating!" Star yelled at Marco.
This was not the response Marco expected. "Me? I was just trying to help."
"You don't let me make decisions for myself! I'm 14! I can handle a demon." Star soon sighed as she started to calm down. "I know that you're trying to look out for me, but you have to let me figure things out on my own! I don't need a hero. I need a friend."
As everyone stood in silence, Molly and Libby shared a quick glance at one another, thinking that they should just leave.
"So, maybe Libby and I should just leave you alone for now." Molly guessed.
"No. It's alright. I just needed to vent a little." Star admitted.
With a look of guilt, Marco stood next to Star on the balcony, feeling bad for not only ruining Star's night, but Molly and Libby's night as well. "I should have trusted you, Star. I'm sorry I ruined your night.
Seeing that Marco was truly sorry, Star turned to Marco with a smile. "Well, it wasn't a total disaster! Now I know you can dance!"
The two friends both laughed in unison before they both hugged each other as they finally made up.
"So, want to go back inside and eat some nachos?" Marco offered.
"Do you even need to ask? Let's do it!" Star exclaimed, happy to spend the rest of the night with her best friend.
"What about you, Molly and Libby? Want to join us?" Marco asked.
"You can go on without us! We'll catch up!" Libby replied.
"Alright, but if you don't hurry, we might not have anymore nachos left!" Star joked.
As Star and Marco made their way downstairs, Molly and Libby stayed on the balcony, watching the night sky together. Watching the moon and stars made them feel relaxed after the rough night they had. After watching the stars for a couple of moments, Libby started to wonder about something.
"Molly? Do you think we will ever find the keyhole in Mewni? We have searched for a couple of days and still didn't find anything."
"Of course we will find it, Libby!" Molly answered without a second thought. "If we were able to seal the keyhole in Gravity Falls, there is no reason we can't do the same for Mewni! Once we save Mewni, we would be one step closer to returning to Brighton and saving our friends and families!"
Hearing Molly's words made Libby feel more confident about this journey. "Thank you, Molly! We're so lucky to have your joy and optimism! It is one of the many things that I love about you!"
With a blush, Molly replied, "I couldn't have done any of this without you, Libby! Despite all of the terrifying stuff that had happened throughout our journey, you were always brave for the two of us! I'm so happy to have you by my side!"
Soon, Libby blushed as well before she and Molly kissed each other on the lips. They soon snuggled up close to one another, with their arms wrapped around each others backs as they continued to admire the beautiful night together.
AN: So, I decided to write a chapter based on the Blood Moon Ball episode of Star vs the Forces of Evil. I mainly wrote this chapter just so I can have more Mollibby moments in this story! The next chapter is going to be the last chapter for the Mewni part of the story, so I will do my best with the next chapter!
