Welcome one and all to this brand new (at the time of writing) chapter! Hooray, hoozah, h… uh, something else beginning with 'h' that is similar in meaning to the other two.
First off I would like to say this is probably late for you because I'm starting the writing of it on Tuesday so anything could happen really.
Secondly for anyone who might be wondering I have no plans for any of the characters to have children at any point ever. There will also most likely be no children at all in this series. The way people under eight years old speak is just terrible.
Last but not least I have created yet another list of more ideas for chapters. Which is good for pretty much everyone in my opinion.
I've ramble long enough I think so on with the chapter!
Chapter 18: Public figures
It was late in the evening already and the last light of the day was receding across the horizon. The clouds that had previously covered most of the sky were long gone.
I would have loved to have had more time to enjoy it but unfortunately Zoh and I were still taking care of James. Throughout the day we had been attempting to get some measure of his intelligence and, from what we had gathered, he was a complete idiot who could not even stand up without help.
By then we were on the final test for James that Zoh came up with mere minutes before. The idea of the test was to get a general idea of his reaction time. It took Zoh a few minutes to build something for the test but eventually we were ready to start.
"Okay, bring him down here now."
I hopped off Zoh's bed and picked up James. As I sat down next to Zoh he took James out of my hands and put him in front of a large screen that I guessed was about twenty inches horizontal and vertical. Zoh then pressed a button atop the screen and it lit up three different lights.
"Okay James here is how this works: all the lights will dim in a few seconds. When you see one light up again you press it as fast as you can. Got it?"
James waved his arms at the screen randomly in response. Me and Zoh shrugged to each other and turned to face the screen.
A few minutes passed of almost constant testing yet James only managed to hit the screen once and he only managed it about ten seconds after it had lit up. Zoh was recording the results on a clip-board but when he looked down at it he still appeared to be surprised.
"How can a human fail so badly at this test? Did we not make it clear what the objective is?"
"No you said it very clearly. Honestly I think there's something off with this thing."
"That was my conclusion as well. I'm not going to be the one telling the summoner that though."
"He has a right to know."
"Exactly. That's why you're going to tell him."
"Why do I have to tell him? Surely you have experience telling people bad news. You have been a human much longer than me after all."
"Ah it's fun knowing someone who has no concept of talking to men normally. You are going to tell him because men respond to bad news better if they have a view like this."
"I always thought these were useless when I was not trying to seduce someone."
"They influence my decisions every hour of every day."
"I can think of a few ways to get what I want from you now."
"Apart from just ordering me what to do that is."
"It's a bit more difficult to get you aroused if I force you to do stuff all the time."
"I'll be honest with you here. If it wasn't for this baby I would probably be aroused right now."
Just as I was about to try and take advantage of what he just told me a few short knocks came from the door.
"I'll get this one."
I got up and walked to the door. A few more knocks came from the main door as I sped to a jog. When I reached it I opened it just before the summoner could knock again.
"Hi Ahri. I just came by to pick up James."
He clicked a few of his limbs as well as his back. I stared at him for a second before he decided to explain:
"I'm aching all over but at the same time I have never felt better in my life. My wife offered to pick up James but she can't walk right now which I find perfectly funny."
"Have you had any breaks at all?"
"… We had a ten minute one for lunch."
"Do you mind if I take the all-day sex idea?"
"Of course not."
"Thanks. Zoh the summoner is here to pick up James!"
A few seconds later Zoh wandered up next to me and handed James as well as the bag of stuff to the summoner.
"Thanks a bunch to both of you. I'll be off now."
He turned to leave but I held him by the arm to make him stay.
"Look there's something we should tell you. All day we have been conducting mental tests on James and from what we can tell he is… to be honest he is an idiot."
The summoner burst out laughing at my words which caused me to get a bit angry.
"Sometimes you two are too funny. He's a baby for god's sake. His brain has only had a few months to develop. Of course he's not smart. On that note I'll be going."
The summoner turned and strode away leaving me and Zoh with our own stupidity. Closing the door I followed him to the sofa. As I sat down I let my head fall onto his lap and my feet went up onto the sofa. Zoh immediately started stroking my hair while I attempted to put my feelings into words:
"We… would not be the best parents. I don't think we would be very good at all."
"Who ever said we had to be? There's barely anything we could do that would require us to be good parents."
"I know but… I would like to get better at it. It's not a nice feeling to know that I couldn't take care of my own child if I were to have one."
I tried to hide the genuine sadness in my voice but I knew it was easy to hear. The worst part about it was I didn't even know why I felt all those things.
Zoh's expression turned from a playful smile to a stern frown. He pulled me up so that I was eye to eye with him. His hands kept my head facing him.
"Ahri one of the few things that I know about women is that when they become mothers something in their brain changes. This is something that can only happen when women become mothers. For all we know this might never apply to you but if it does I am certain you would be great at it."
I managed a smile that was enough for Zoh to give me a quick kiss and a hug. After everything he said I managed to just about believe that I could be a good parent. For some reason this made me happy so I felt the need to give thanks:
"Thank you again Zoh. You always know what to say when I'm feeling down."
"I should after all the time we have spent together these past weeks."
I pulled away from Zoh and decided I could thank him better. After a few seconds of thought I came up with something so I lightly pushed him on the chest to make him lay down. I got up from the sofa and stretched his legs out. While I walked to the door and locked it Zoh got comfortable. On my way I got my shoes off and pushed them to the side with my foot. As I sat on his stomach I undid the clip on the back of my clothes. With the help of a few of my tails I pulled my clothes over my head.
"Before you say anything I'm just doing this to give you a better view."
"I wasn't going to say anything..."
Before Zoh could finish I stretched my arms out behind my back to silence him. When I was done marvelling in my own ability to control him without having to say a word I brought my arms back down next to his shoulders.
"I must be as beautiful as you say if I can shut you up by just stretching."
"Yeah and I'm one of the better ones at talking no matter the circumstances."
"We both know shutting you up is one of my specialities. It also so happens to be one of my favourite things to do in situations like these."
Zoh's face turned to a grin while his hands moved onto my legs. Slowly his hands made their way up my body while I dropped down to kiss him. For a while it felt like I was in control but Zoh managed to prove me wrong in seconds by moving one of his hands down under the last bit of clothing I had left. The surprise was enough to make all my strength disappear for longer than I was okay with. I tried to say something but even I couldn't understand what came out.
"In case you were wondering this is because I was thinking on what you said yesterday about 'finishing the job' and decided that you were right. So this is me. Finishing the job."
Finally I gathered enough strength to speak:
"You just… had to ask the… summoner… for that favour."
"Yes I did. In case you hadn't noticed, you're the one gaining from this right now."
Just as I was about to attempt to reply a second finger joined the first causing me to once again collapse onto Zoh. It felt so good I could barely move.
If I had the strength I would have punched him then and there.
"Oh yeah I should probably say that this isn't going to lead to actual sex. I'm just taking advantage of this golden opportunity to show how easily I can stop you doing anything and everything."
Seconds after he finished talking Zoh hit a special spot and even my tails couldn't stay up any longer. Finally I couldn't take any more and I felt myself tighten around his fingers. A few seconds of ecstasy later I un-tensed everywhere and Zoh removed his fingers from me. I managed to push myself up from him in time to see him licking his fingers clean of the mess I had made.
He looked as if he was contemplating something for a moment before he started speaking:
"Well, my craving is slightly more manageable now."
"I don't know if I should thank you or hurt you for that."
Through my heavy breathing I managed to respond with words instead of grunts and moans like earlier. Zoh then pulled me back down, to which I could offer no resistance. A smirk crossed his face and he whispered into my human ear:
"From the noises you were making and the stain on my suit I would say you should be thanking me."
I pulled my head back to plant a kiss on his lips. While I really did want to hurt him for taking advantage of how gentle I was, I couldn't deny that it was the best I had felt in a while. Of course that didn't mean I was going to let it end there.
The moment I got all my strength back I pinned Zoh's arms under my legs and started un-buttoning his shirt. I knew it was only a matter of biding my time until he gave in. How long that would take was up to him unfortunately.
"This is the opposite of thanking me. Now there's an annoying breeze going down my shirt."
I ignored his comments and removed his shirt and jacket in one pull. As I threw them to the side Zoh sighed and rested his head on the sofa.
"So are we going to just ignore the fact I'm holding a teleport button?"
In the corner of my eye I saw him waving a button in his hand. At this point there was no way I could do anything more without him being gone before I got the chance. Very cautiously I rested my hands on his shoulders and put on a fake smile.
"Look, Zoh… good old Zoh… how about you drop that as a sort of… uh… really late Snowdown present? I'll be honest I have never had to get out of a situation by getting less sexual and not more."
"I don't even know what that is. Now how about you get off my arms I'm starting to get pins and needles."
I moved my legs off his arms. Immediately he stretched them out and put them behind his head.
"Did you honestly believe I would let myself get in a situation like this without having an escape plan?"
"A girl can dream."
"You can but it won't help much. By the way you should probably get something to cover up. I don't think Shen wants to see much more of this."
I spun to sit normally on the sofa while a few of my tails covered my chest. On the chair opposite sat Shen, writing notes on some paper.
"Actually if you two could continue that would be quite helpful."
"Helpful for what?" Zoh asked as he also turned to look at Shen.
"To put it simply I noticed a few days ago how easily you mix up Ahri's hormonal balance. I thought that if I could replicate this myself and Akali could finish faster and get on with our normal duties. So I did the only logical thing which was to wait until you two started, then sit and take notes. Also I am quite interested as to how you disabled Ahri's ability to speak."
If anyone else was in Shen's position I would have blushed but his voice was so incredibly monotone that I had no concerns about what he was thinking.
Just as I expected Zoh was quick to reply:
"This probably won't work for Akali but what I did was ask a summoner to make Ahri really easy to please with physical contact. And as for her inability to speak I honestly couldn't tell you and I doubt she will by choice."
"I had expected a much more convoluted and needlessly scientific method if I am honest."
"Genetic engineering is not my thing. The best I have been able to do is a pig with wings to put an end to that saying."
"If that is the case then I shall make efforts to not use that saying at any point in the future. Also I should add that you may want to change your underwear Ahri. At this moment your tails are doing a better job covering you up."
"How about you leave and I won't have to cover up at all?"
"You don't usually have a problem with wearing nothing around me."
"Well I'm annoyed right now so you don't get to enjoy the view. I don't care if you wouldn't even notice anyway."
"You should really save those views for Zoh alone. He is your chosen partner after all."
I glanced at Zoh while he did the same.
"On that note I shall leave. Thank you for the help Zoh and thank you for the hospitality Ahri."
He teleported out as I thought over what he just said and realised something weird.
"Did he just use sarcasm?"
"Yeah I think he did."
I turned my whole body to face Zoh who just turned his head.
"I suppose we should probably talk about how I act around other people."
"We can if you want to."
"You have to understand I don't really get what I should do and what I shouldn't with anyone but you. If you want me to cover up properly in public I will."
Finally he moved the rest of his body to face me and he took my hands into his.
"Ahri I would never even think about telling you what you can or cannot do. If you told me that from now on all you would wear in public is this I wouldn't care because as you well know all I want is your happiness. I'll admit I would prefer if I was the only one who got to see you in all your glory."
"… I probably don't say this enough but I do love you as much as you love me. After I first said it I questioned myself on if my motives were pure but now I'm sure. It may seem that I don't care sometimes but what you think does matter to me so how about we just agree that I will continue on like normal in public but if someone comes in here I will stay covered until they leave."
"Okay, that works. Now how about we go to bed?"
"Yeah I guess we should."
Zoh got up and offered me a hand. I took it but was momentarily surprised when he picked me up from the sofa and held me in the air. I just cuddled my head against his body and let him carry me to bed. A few moments later he tucked me in and then got in next to me. We were facing toward each other but I closed my eyes to stop looking at his smirking face.
We hadn't done anything that I wanted to but altogether the night was positive. It got rapidly better when I felt Zoh kissing various parts of my body. For a moment I just let it happen before I decided I wanted answers.
"Is this supposed to help me get to sleep or are you just teasing me?" I asked while opening my eyes to look at him.
"Who said anything about sleep?"
"You did. A minute ago."
"I said go to bed. Not sleep."
"So you are teasing me because you know I can't take this any further."
He raised both hands so that I could see his palms and, to my surprise, they were both empty.
"I guess I must have lost it."
The next day (3rd May 10:40):
My eyes shot open when I felt Zoh's arm wrap around my chest. He kissed my back and neck while I snuggled into him for warmth.
"That went on much longer than normal."
"Yeah. It took about an hour longer for you to knock me out involuntarily. At least, I hope it was involuntary."
"Trust me if I could prevent it we would still be going now."
I twisted around to look him in the eyes and for a moment I was incredibly confused. From where I was looking it seemed as if his muscles were quite a bit bigger than last night.
"Uh… Zoh… mind explaining this?" I asked while motioning at his arm muscles.
"To put it simply I woke up early so I went to the space between this universe and the next and worked out for what is equivalent to a month. Except for me it felt like a few hours."
"But didn't you say ages ago that time was constant according to the laws of something."
"It is. But not in the space between universes. All the laws end when the universe does."
"You make no sense sometimes but I'm perfectly fine with it because I can tell that the next time we have sex it's going to be amazing."
"Probably. Thinking back I should have really done it before we had sex."
"We can do it now if you want. Although you will have to go a bit easy on me, my thighs are still aching after last night."
I was only half-joking when I said that. Zoh laughed it off and moved in to kiss me, which I gleefully accepted. He hugged me close so I let my tails wrap around him. After his workout I had no idea if I was able to over-power him anymore, but that didn't mean I could not still force him to do what I say.
He tried to pull away but I went in again to savour the moment. When he attempted it again I let him because I thought up a question for him:
"Why did you change your mind about us having sex last night?"
"I saw how disappointed you looked while we were talking and the best way I could think of to cheer you up was that. I knew it was the right decision whenever I saw your face during."
"Yeah, there wasn't really anything else you could have done."
"Even if there was I would have done the same thing anyway. To be honest I want to go again right now but we have to get ready for the last of our matches before they let all the summoners use us. This one is going to be interesting though because we'll be enemies and for some reason I'm going in the mid-lane."
"This is going to be very interesting and very painful. Interesting for me; painful for you."
"Is that so? When you throw all your abilities at my clone while I sit and watch I'll make sure to hold in my laughter."
"Yeah that's not going to happen… Now let's discuss the terms of our bet."
"Oh we're having another one of those? There's not really much you can make me do that I wouldn't do anyway."
"Actually there is something that would normally take me a few days to talk you into. If my team wins you have to not only come with me to this little award show the summoners put on but you also have to walk with me down the red carpet."
"I would sooner go swimming in acid wearing only my boxers."
"It's part of the bet so you have to do it."
"You know how much I hate being watched by a lot of people. If there's a red carpet then I'm really not going to enjoy it."
"Stop moaning and tell me your side of the bet."
"If I win we go paint-balling."
"What's that?"
"You don't know what paint-balling is? This is going to be fun. Very fun indeed."
We shook hands then both got out of bed. While we got dressed I thought about the bet. Whatever he was talking about it was clearly not something I was going to enjoy a lot. I hadn't lost one of our bets yet so I was quite confident, but that didn't mean I wasn't afraid of what 'paintball' was.
An hour later (12:00):
For the last minute or so all I had been doing was shouting at my summoner as he made me walk ever closer to the baron pit where the fight had happened. The rest of my team engaged when I was back at base buying items and now it seemed like my summoner was trying to give away the ace. None of the enemy team died in that fight and we had no vision on the map what-so-ever.
As I walked into the bush near the blue buff I ducked down slightly to avoid being seen. To my dismay the summoner walked me right out the other side of it and continued toward the baron. For once I thanked the fact that he didn't make me buy boots, as it was delaying my inevitable death. When we rounded the corner I was not surprised to see the baron dead, but at least I couldn't see the enemies.
I mumbled some thanks to the summoner as he finally started walking me back only for me to be cut off by the sound of two men laughing. In an instant Zed and Zoh appeared around me and the world faded out. If I had control of my movements I would have face-palmed but unfortunately I didn't and the man who did thought it would be best to try and hit one of them with my orb. Zed disappeared before it could impact on him leaving only Zoh to take the damage. Over the next few seconds I got hit by every ability they had without using my ultimate once. That dropped me down to about half health only for Zed's ultimate to pop dropping me further still. Finally the summoner used my ultimate to get some distance from the two but I knew that Zoh's ultimate hadn't finished yet so I just prepared for being dead again. Moments later I saw the flash of light above me that signalled the end.
A thousand damage later I was looking at the enemy team beating down our nexus while Zoh danced next to it. My summoner attempted to apologise but I ignored him, instead just preparing for Zoh's gloating.
Just as Caitlyn's bullet hit our nexus I noticed our Jax was in their base. Both nexus's exploded and we were teleported to the summoning room. Not even the announcer knew what to say and soon all the summoners had gathered in a circle. I spotted Zoh who was talking to Zed and Jax so I walked over to them. From a few metres away I could hear what they were saying clearly:
"So it's agreed then. The winner is whoever throws one of the others from the greatest height." Zoh announced, receiving nods from the other two.
"I'll get the summoners to make the changes to our invulnerability spells and Zed you go unlock the stairways to the highest rooms."
"Looks like I'll have to go now. Remember, the competition starts tomorrow. Any throws that happen today are not counted." Zoh added while strolling away from the group and towards me. The other two said their goodbyes while me and Zoh stopped a few feet from each other.
"Good game. I won't say well played because to be honest you played terribly." He joked while stretching out his hand for me to shake. I shook it but immediately regretted the decision when I felt how cold it was.
"It feels like I was being controlled by James."
Through his helmet I heard a distorted laugh that seemed very low quality. He must have only just realised he had it on so he pulled his hand back and pulled off the helmet.
"So what are we going to do about the bet then? Did we both lose or both win?"
"I can't hear what they are saying but the summoners seem to be about to announce something."
Just as I expected one of the summoners went and talked to the announcer. She leaned down to listen to him then nodded and stood back up.
"It has been decided that the game shall be counted as a victory for both sides. Remember that you may stay in here for up to an hour but beyond that point everyone shall be asked to leave to make room for the next scheduled match."
I turned to look back at Zoh who did the same.
"When's this awards show then?"
"It starts at six PM today."
"I guess that's why you made this bet then. You said yourself that it would take a few days to convince me, which it would."
"Let's both be happy that wasn't necessary then. Now we are going to go clean you up a bit. Can't have you looking scruffy for an event like this."
"How do I look scruffy?"
"Well your hair is all over the place, that beard-moustache thing is getting out of hand and you don't have a tie for any of your suits."
"So I guess this isn't just going to be a casual thing then. Ugh, fine. We can trim the beard but I'm not getting rid of it completely. I get a Canadian accent if I lose it completely."
A few hours later (18:00):
"So this is the 'little' awards show then?"
"It's little in comparison to some things."
"A planet would be a good example of one of those things."
"Be quiet and do what I do." I demanded while raising my hand to wave to everyone on the other side of the barriers. The amount of flashes from cameras was surprising but not to the point where it was blinding. We walked along the carpet towards the massive building where the event was being held. Fireworks and spotlights illuminated the giant building while champions and summoners alike walked around outside, giving interviews and signatures for fans. From what I could tell every champion was there, even those that were less than sociable. Much to Zoh's distress, however, we were getting the most attention out of everyone.
We got to the central area where most of the champions were and soon enough a female journalist was in front of us.
"Hi I'm Sarah from the Demacian Star. Would you mind giving an interview?"
"Sure, I'd be happy to."
"Let's start with what everyone wants to know: do you plan on doing another tour in the future?"
"I haven't really put much thought into it but I'm almost certain the summoners will ask me to at some point. And if people want me to then I will accept."
"A lot of people will be happy to hear that. Now then would you like to tell us about what's happening between you two?"
"Well we met a few weeks ago when I became human and he was teleported here from another world. We both decided to go to the League and since then our relationship has either been confusing, complicated or more fun than I will admit in public."
She smiled then turned to face Zoh.
"So it's fair to assume that you have been the mysterious champion that we have seen so many times. Would you mind telling us who you actually are?"
"Officially I am Zoh Kihn, a centurion of the Deridian army of the planet Vokul. Faithful servant of his majesty the emperor etc. etc. etc. Un-officially I am a scientist and inventor whose creations tend to explode sporadically. You decide which is more interesting for the readers."
"If you're from another planet then why do you look human?"
"I basically am but there are a few differences between you and I. A good example being that I can be hit in the stomach as many times as I want and I won't suffer any long-term effects. Here, give it a try." Zoh replied, putting his arms out to the side to give a clear shot.
"No, no I don't think that will be necessary."
"Oh come on don't be so boring. Give it your best shot."
"Alright, if you insist."
The reporter handed her note-pad and pen to an assistant who seemed to come out of no-where. She took a fighting pose then punched him hard in the gut. For a second or so Zoh appeared to be winded then he stood up straight and smiled.
"Quite the punch you have there."
The reporter recovered to a normal stance then took her note-pad and pen from the assistant.
"Why thank you. One last question before you can get on with your night evening. That being, is it true you were seen with a baby a yesterday?"
"Yeah Zoh owed a summoner some favours so we both got stuck baby-sitting for the day."
"Correction, we owed the summoner."
"It's been a pleasure talking to you. Good luck with the League and this odd relationship of yours."
We both gave our thanks and the reporter walked away. I was quite surprised how comfortable Zoh was with talking to a reported when he was supposedly against being in public at all. I felt the need to congratulate him but I didn't want to make it obvious what I was doing.
"I'm surprised you were that good in an interview. I thought that would have been something you hated."
"Actually it's one of the few things I'm okay with at these events. I just treat it like I'm meeting them as a person and not an interviewer then I can block out everything else around me. It also helps that I have you here with me. There's something calming about having you nearby. I'll have to research it later."
"I could answer that for you. But you'll have to give me a kiss first."
"This isn't just for the cameras, right?"
"No it's because I want to."
Zoh put his hands on my waist and kissed me. The sound of cameras flashing grew louder and more consistent, as did the cheering of fans. I closed my eyes to block it all out and focus on Zoh. No matter how many times we did that I never enjoyed it any less than the first. I knew he felt the same way because he never tried to change anything. We were both happy to just do what we had always done. I would have let it go on longer had I not felt someone tapping me on the shoulder. When I pulled away from Zoh and turned I saw Yasuo waving at me and smiling.
"Hey Ahri. Remember me from Ionia?"
"Of course I do. You would have tried to kill me if not for Shen."
"Yeah sorry again for that. I see now that you are definitely not a giant wolf or whatever the hell the thing I was hunting was."
"Well it's good to see you're back from vacation anyway. Oh yes and this is Zoh by the way."
The two men shook hands and greeted each other:
"Nice to meet you. I'm Yasuo."
"Good to meet you too. So what's this about Ahri being a giant wolf?" Zoh asked while retracting his hand.
"Oh a big misunderstanding really. I lost my contact lenses so all I could see was a human-sized blur with tails so I assumed it was the thing that I had been hunting."
"This must have happened when I was supposedly dead. Definitely the kind of thing I would remember."
"Ah that must have been why you were upset then." Yasuo asserted as he turned to look at me.
"Clearly I'm not very good at hiding my sadness."
"You're terrible at it if I'm honest. When you try to hide it you lose pretty much all emotions. Anyway I should be going now. Apparently they made a special 'pain in the arse' award just for me."
He took a few steps away backwards before bumping into Lux hard enough for them to both fall over. Luckily not many people noticed them as the majority were focusing on me and Zoh or Sona who was just now arriving. Yasuo got up and held his and out for Lux to take. Neither said anything but it was clear he was trying to think of something to say. She simply glared at him and waited for an apology. Eventually he got something out:
"I'm sorry I was just talking to some friends and I didn't see you."
"Apology accepted. Now if you wouldn't mind I'd like to go talk to some people."
"Holy hell you're a woman? I couldn't tell because-" He was cut short by a harsh slap to the cheek that I would have congratulated Lux for under normal circumstances.
"No, no you don't understand I couldn't your womanly parts because-"
"Stop hitting me!"
Lux walked away leaving Yasuo standing alone, rubbing his cheek. I already knew why he didn't know who Lux was so I went over to help him. Zoh followed suit and we found the contact lenses very easily. I handed them to him and he thanked us both:
"Thanks. You understand why I didn't know right?"
"Yeah I know. If I were you try to apologise again tomorrow. Any attempts tonight will just end in pain."
He looked over to where Lux went and I saw that it dawned on him who he just annoyed.
"That was Lux? She's the only person I haven't introduced myself to yet and that's who I piss off. Great."
"We'll deal with it later. Now let's go see what's inside. I've had enough of these camera flashes."
A few hours later (00:00):
The sound of a door being shut woke me from my light sleep. I didn't want to be awake so I adjusted my dress slightly and yawned. With one hand I held onto my award and with everything else I shifted to get comfortable in Zoh's arms. My tails drifted around randomly beneath me and my ears twitched at the noise of his walking.
A few moments later he took my award out of my hand and put it down somewhere. When I felt the bed underneath me I finally realised where we were. Zoh removed my high-heels then pulled the covers over me. I was surprised and confused to hear the door being opened and closed. For a moment I remained perfectly still to hear where he was going. When I heard the click of a button I decided it was time to go find out what he was doing.
I opened my eyes but my vision was very fuzzy for a few seconds. Rubbing my eyes until they were normal I got out of bed and strode to the door. I opened it cautiously just in case he was there and when I saw that he was not I waked through, not bothering to close it behind me. When I got to the button to the island I pressed it and appeared on the island. For some reason the sun was rising on the horizon when I arrived but I disregarded it. On the other end of the island I caught sight of Zoh who was in a praying pose.
He was the last person I expected to be religious, which just served to feed my curiosity. I didn't try to sneak up on him as the only thing to mask the noise of my feet on the grass was the waterfall and that was not going to be enough up close. I took a few steps towards him yet he didn't react at all. When I got within a few inches of him I sat down beside him and put my hand on his shoulder. He wasn't trying to hide the sadness in his eyes so I wanted to comfort him.
"Zoh what's wrong?"
"It's the fifth anniversary of the day I lost my mother. So I'm just taking some time to remember her."
"Tell me what happened and we can do this together."
"I can tell you but the chance of you being able to help is very small."
"You know that's not true. Every time something is wrong in my life you have helped me get through it. Now it's my turn to do the same for you."
"Okay… for years my mother was stuck in a marriage she didn't want with my dad. Every day her personality faded away from the bright and cheerful woman I respected to a shell of her former self. It got to the point where I was worried that I would find her hanging from a noose when I came home. Somehow my brother and dad didn't notice any of it… but then I made my first tele-porter and so I showed it to her to try and lighten her mood. When I told her what it was she pleaded with me to use it to send her away as far as I could. I tried to talk her out of it but she said it was that or suicide. There was no way for me to stop her so I just gave it to her and left the room. The last thing I ever heard of her was a scream. When I went back in to check she was gone. What was supposed to be the happiest day of my life turned into the worst."
"Do you have any idea where she may have gone? There's a chance she is still alive."
"No I checked almost every planet she went to. The others were either marked as 'un-inhabitable' or 'extremely hostile'. I gave up hope to see her again years ago."
A second later Zoh pulled his head up and let his hands drop to the sides. He was about to stand up but I wrapped my hands around him to keep him down.
"Ahri let go I just want to go to bed and let this day end."
"We're not going anywhere until I see a proper smile."
"Ahri-"
"Shut it. Now hug me back."
He reluctantly wrapped his arms around me.
"No good can come from sitting here blaming yourself or anyone else. There is no way anyone could have known that the tele-porter would fail without someone having tried it. We don't know for a fact that she is gone forever. Hell, for all we know she could be here on Valoran. All I know for certain about her is that she did what every mother wants to do. She raised you. In almost every aspect of life you are doing well. If she could see you now I know she would be proud. That's what you should remember her for."
"I guess you're right. Maybe it's about time I focused on the early years that I spent with her."
"Don't focus all your attention on her though. I'm your main girl now."
Finally he smiled so I rewarded him with a kiss. Neither I nor Zoh wanted to pull away so we didn't for quite some time. Instead, we just sat there together while the sun rose on the horizon.
Definitely one of the better ways to start a day.
So much happened in this chapter that I can't write about how silly or weird a certain part was here. This isn't normal! I don't like change D:
But anyway on with the notes of which there are many!
Number one: Azzuk I like the ideas and will probably use all of them at some point. Thanks a lot! Your prize is another shout-out. Also I have very little knowledge of babies. All I know is that they cry about everything so that's what I wrote. Finally, there have been a few clues from Riot as to the sexuality of Taric and that is enough for me to count him as gay. I feel like every series should have at least one homosexual person because they are "Truly, truly, outrageous". (I had to get that reference in there somewhere).
Number two: a user called swagdaddy (incredible name by the way) put up a review which is, and I quote, "Tis shite". This made me laugh because I can't tell if he is serious or joking. If you're reading this mister 'swagdaddy' then well done. You have confused me.
Number three: I have a massive, huge, spectacular, bigger-than-the-sun-and-a-walrus-squished-together event planned for around chapter 30. I am getting really excited about this thing so I can't wait to get to it. I'm so god damn excited!
Number four: this series has reached 10,000 views! How, why, what, who? Most of those things aren't relevant but seriously 10 thousand. I even bought a cake to celebrate! I can't share it with you over the internet but just pretend that you have a slice of pixely chocolate cake in front of you!
Ah it was good to get all that excitement out of my system. Okay I'll admit I'm still mega excited but I don't care I'm going to go be an assassin-pirate!
See you in the next chapter you lovely, incredible people!
