AN: For this, Lucy will be slightly OP and a little Natsu bashing. Just a little though cause he's still a great character, he just won't be Lucy's love interest in this. I'm thinking more along the lines of an Erlu fic where Erza enjoys having someone who's not scared witless of her.
Anyway, all rights go to the respective owners and all that.

*Aquarius' POV*
I felt Layla call me out so I went. Layla had squealed in happiness.
"I'm pregnant Aquarius." she said.
I was happy for her but I kept my stern front. That went away at her next words.
"I know it means something different for Celestial Spirits, but would you consider being my baby's godmother? I consider you a sister and it would be easier for the baby." she said.
I dropped my front and smiled, "Of course." then I smirked, "Jude probably doesn't agree."
Layla sighed and shook her head.
"All the more reason to agree." I said.
At first, I was in it because it was a great way to slap Jude in the face, but that changed when the baby came. Cancer and Capricorn got to see her first. Then when they were back, I was called. When I arrived, I saw Layla holding a small little bundle.
"Aquarius, I'd like you to meet my baby girl, Lucinda Kelas Vermillion Heartfilia." Layla said as she tilted the bundle to reveal a baby who looked just like her.
Something about the baby pulled me to her and I absolutely adored the little baby. She was such a tiny little thing.
"Would you like to hold her?" Layla asked gently.
I nodded and little Lucy was placed in my arms. I knew right then that I would protect her, no matter what. I looked at those innocent hazel brown eyes and saw the potential, the magical prowess she would hold one day, I saw the sharp as a tack mind. On the days Layla could call me out, I would play with Lucy. Her happy peals of laughter ringing out as we splashed the water. She had as of yet to say her first words.
"Aquee." a tiny little voice called.
I was shocked and looked around. Layla was shocked too.
"Aquee!" the same little voice called.
I looked down in my arms at little Lucy.
"Aquee." she said again.
"Layla. She...she said my name. Her first words was my name." I said as the feelings of protection and motherly love for the little thing increased.
Layla looked happy. My thoughts of her being a very smart person were proven when Lucy learned to read when she was two, working her way to bigger and broader topics by the time she was three. She also made a little friend at that guild Layla had taken her too once. See, Layla had a day where it was just her and Lucy. So Layla took Lucy to the Fairy Tail guild. Lucy hit it off with one of the kids there and was happy.
Unfortunately, about a year later, when Lucy was five, Layla had been killed. Lucy had wandered off and had managed to get herself into trouble. Layla was already sickly so she couldn't summon us and we were Lucy's spirits. I watched as Layla jumped in front of the guy, just as he brought the knife down to hurt Lucy. Layla was stabbed and Lucy had watched. It hurt to watch as Layla's health declined after that. It was about two weeks from Lucy's sixth birthday that Layla passed away. I could only watch as Lucy was forced away from her mother as doctors came in to wrap Layla.
I could only watch as Lucy screamed and kicked at the servants who had moved her from the room. I watched as Lucy cried for the mom who would never return. Cancer, Capricorn, and I watched the funeral from the Celestial Realm. I knew it would happen, so I was ready, that didn't mean it didn't hurt though. Once the casket was laid in the ground and the crowd disappeared, no one noticed that one person stayed behind, staring at the grave. Lucy had called each of us out to say our last goodbyes. I was last. I was mad, upset, and just in a bad mood. I pushed that aside to hold Lucy for a week after the funeral. My poor baby was unresponsive to almost everything except me. Even Cancer couldn't get to her. Capricorn had been forced to work for one of the servants, Zoldeo so he couldn't help.
It had been a bad day for me and when Lucy summoned me to play in her bathtub. Normally I wouldn't care if Lucy summoned me in the bath, but today was not that day. When I arrived, I told her off. I felt a little twinge of something when I finished but I ignored it.
"M'sorry. I just..wanted to play." she said.
I don't know why it pissed me off but it did.
"Don't you have other friends for that brat?" I snarked out.
I heard the water move and I looked down to see Lucy curled up in a ball in the bath. The blank look in her eyes hurt to see. So I apologized for my behavior, told her why I did what I did and agreed to play with her. The beaming smile I got in return was well worth being summoned in a bathtub. I felt the warmth that Lucy's smile held. It was a couple weeks later when something was off. I was with Scorpio at the moment, but I didn't like what I was getting from Lucy's end. I looked to Cancer to see if he felt anything but he didn't. I ran to the viewing screen and quickly found her. She was sitting on the floor in a corner of her room. She was in a ball, rocking back and forth with silent tears.
I forced my gate, something Cancer couldn't do just yet, and when I got there, Lucy was still huddled in a ball. I moved closer to her and touched her shoulder. She flinched away.
"Lucy. It's me." I said gently.
Lucy looked up at me with a tearstained face. Her face crumpled in guilt.
"Hey hey, what's wrong?" I asked softly.
She looked away and curled into herself even more, "Do...do you blame me for mamma dying?"
Of all the things she could have said, that was the last on my list.
"No." I said firmly, "No sweet pea. I don't blame you for her passing." I said as I pulled her into my lap and wrapped her in a hug.
She was tense in my arms, then in a tone that should never be in a six year old's voice she said, "But..but if it weren't for me running off, mama would still be here."
"No sweetie. No. She was protecting you. She knew she was dying. Yes it sped up her decline, but she would have eventually died. You are not to blame." I said as I tucked her head into the crook of my neck.
She was still tense, "But...daddy said that if I didn't wander off, mama wouldn't have died."
The only reason why I didn't go blasting Jude into space, was because of the little one in my arms. She was my first priority. I comforted her and reassured her that It wasn't her fault. She finally relaxed in my arms and she fell asleep. Once she was asleep, I returned to the Spirit Realm before I did something I would regret.
*The Spirit King's POV*
I was doing my rounds of checking up on all my spirits when I saw Aquarius force her gate. I was shocked she was able too, it meant that she held a deep connection with her current holder and said holder was magically strong enough for Aquarius to have that ability. I waited for her to return and when she did, it was two hours later with an aura of anger surrounding her.
I had never seen Aquarius so angry after coming back. She even ignored Scorpio! She had gone right for her area and blasted targets with spells she hasn't been able to tap into in years. She was getting angrier by the minute. I had to call her in before she destroyed everything.
"Aquarius!" I yelled just to get her attention.
She stopped what she was doing and turned to me and I caught the look of rage in her eyes.
"Why are you so angry?" I asked.
Aquarius showed me her memory, but then her whole demeanor changed and her anger levels skyrocketed.
"How dare he?!" Aquarius shouted.
That got a lot of looks from most spirits.
"How dare that bastard hurt MY BABY!" Aquarius shouted and with that she disappeared.
I was shocked, she hasn't shown the side of her that does care about her friends in centuries. She hasn't been this protective of a holder in a while. It was two days later that Aquarius returned and she was calm enough to cuddle into Scorpio's arms.
*Aquarius's POV*
I had just shown the King what had happened when I realized that Lucy had flinched. As if I was going to hurt her. Which meant that she's had that happen. I was so pissed that I forced my gate to make sure Lucy was okay. She was okay with me touching her. I had found her out in the forest around the Konzern. I held her and helped her to heal. What was amazing is that Lucy had the magical strength for me to actually have healing powers. I was able to speed up the natural healing processes with water and it came in handy. I spent the week training Lucy so that by the time she went back, she would be okay. I had her call out her silver keys while holding my gate and she managed it, getting easier after a day.
*Lucy's POV*
It's been a week since Aquarius went back to the spirit world. We played together and trained. I found that I liked running and jumping and flipping. The servants had been on my side and helped me in their own way. My tutors taught me about the history of mages and other countries. The chef taught me how to hunt and cook. They even gave me a little bit of their pay for helping them with chores. They found me keys too. It was Christmas when I found a box on my bed. Inside were four silver keys, the Southern Cross, the Lyre, the Clock, and the Compass.
With Grampa Crux, the Southern Cross, I was able to further enhance my studies. Lyra helped me perfect my creative side and learned how to play the piano, violin, flute, harp, basically any instrument Lyra could get her hands on, I would learn. Horologium, who I called Rollie, kept a schedule and helped me with scheduling my day. Pyxis, or Pixy, helped with navigation like reading a map. I was happy because I had a little family. Cancer was my uncle, Aquarius is my momma, Lyra was a sister, Crux was my gramps, and Pyxis is a brother. Taurus, when he joined the family, he was my big brother.
On my eighth birthday when I went to go try and spend time with my father. I made him a rice ball and took it to him. He just upped and threw the rice ball I spent time making for him in my face and told me that I was an interruption and a distraction. I picked up the rice ball he threw at me and threw it back into his face.
"Screw you! I made this for you to spend time with you. You know. If it wasn't for me, Aquarius would have washed you away." I growled.
I left. That was the night I decided to leave. Rollie held my clothes and stuff, Crux held onto the books mama passed onto me. I had read somewhere about equip magic and started learning that and was now able to equip my keys and weapons. Ms. Supetto had caught me, but she helped me leave. She made some food and gave me three keys that Belo had wanted to give me. It was those of Ursa Minor, Pegasus, and Vulpecula. I made it out and I was off.
Unfortunately, a few hours after I left, I ran across Vulcan territory and had gotten hurt. Aquarius appeared and she ran with me in her arms.
*Aquarius' POV*
I carried Lucy as she was getting tired and we were being chased by a pack of Vulcans. I found a clearing with a waterfall fed pond. I was running low on power after Lucy spent most of her energy fighting off the Vulcans and then me switching to my own power to protect her. Lucy was tired but she still wiggled out of my arms and got ready to fight. But there was a howl from the otherside of the waterfall. I watched as a pack of wolves came out of the cave and the Vulcans ran away.
I curled around Lucy protectively and was wary of the wolves in front of us. They were huge, much larger than Lucy. I heard the awe in Lucy's voice.
"Whoa." she said. "You're a…"
"Wolf? Yes, and you're quite strong for a pup." the wolf said.
*Caoimhe's POV* (pronounced kee-va)
My pack and I were relaxing in our den when a new scent arrived. I decided to go see what it was and sat at the mouth of the cave to observe. It was a little human girl and she looked like she was running away from something and the Spirit I recognized, it was Aquarius. I watched as Aquarius held onto the little girl and stopped. The little one wiggled out of Aquarius' arms and got ready to attack something. I realized it was Vulcans and so I let out a howl. The Vulcans left after that as my pack and I stepped out. The little one was watching me in awe and her eyes were sparkling in excitement. However, Aquarius, who was known to be a very standoffish and aggressive spirit, had wrapped her tail around the girl and was in a battle stance.
"Whoa." the little one said, "You're a…"
"Wolf? Yes, and you're quite strong for a pup." I said with a chuckle.
I took a step towards the little one when Aquarius tightened her hold and was even more tense.
"My name is Caoimhe. We are not going to hurt the little one." I said.
Aquarius' eyes widened in surprise before relaxing. She put the urn down but she still didn't leave.
"Aquee. It's okay. I'll be alright. You know big brother will come if I'm in trouble." the little one said.
I saw Aquarius' eyes soften for a second.
"Okay my little star. I'll still be watching you." Aquarius said.
"I know you will mama." the little one said.
With that Aquarius left. I smiled at the interaction between the two. It was obvious Aquarius adored the little girl. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Raven, my strongest wolf but also the most distant, do a play bow to Lucy. She let out a playful puppy bark at the little one. I watched as Lucy's eyes sparkled with excitement as she went up to Raven and began petting her. The little one had hit a spot and Raven was a puddle.
"Oh yes. Right there." she said as the little one kept petting her.
"Little One., what's your name." I asked gently.
She smiled up at me, "I'm Lucinda Kelas Vermillion Heartfilia. Just call me Lucy though."
I introduced the rest of my pack. Lucy was with us for seven years. She fit in well with the pack. In fact, she was very very smart as she had picked up on a lot of different magics since each of us wolves practiced different magics. She learned each of our styles of fighting and then made her own. After a while, I noticed that raw meat had no effect on Lucy anymore. She was able to conceal her magic and was able to stay silent and keep up with us. Then it was time for Lucy to go on her own way.
She kept in touch and let us know what she was doing. We were the only ones who knew that she was the rumored Celestial Nightshade, known to those in Bosco, Alvarez, Seven, and Stella. We were also the only ones who knew her full name, including her last name. What was interesting is that Luna, one of our pups that grew up with Lucy, went with her.
*Lucy's POV*
I was comfortable with being on my own. I also had Luna by my side. I traveled around Fiore, Bosco, Alvarez, Seven, and Stella. I took out dark guilds and earned the name Kelas the Celestial Nightshade. Along the way, I ran across the Strauss siblings who were being bullied in the town for their magic. I picked them up and helped them out. Evergreen was a similar manner except she was almost ignored. She was attached to my hip after that for a while before I sent her off to Fairy Tail. I had run across Gray, Lyon, and their mentor Ur up north and helped them out. Ur had talked to me and told me about her daughter.
Gajeel I picked up on the way towards Alvarez and found out he was a dragon slayer and he quickly became kin. He gave me one of his metal piercings and I gave him one of mine. He was a gruff fellow, but he was sweet with me. Then outside the border of Bosco, I picked up Bixlow, who was apparently a seith mage and had a secondary magic of figure eyes. He absolutely adored me and had followed me for a little bit before we ran across Laxus Dreyar. Laxus had remembered me and was happy. We hung out a little after that, I found out that Laxus had been turned into a dragon slayer by his father. What was interesting there is that Laxus had the dragon instincts despite only having a lacrima in him. He had claimed me as kin before taking Bixlow to Fairy Tail. Freed Justine was a similar case, he had ran away from his wealthy family and was a rune mage. Bisca and Alzack both with bullet magic.
I also ran across a girl named Erza. I helped her out and nursed her back to health and everything. She stuck with me for the longest time, about two months before I sent her to Magnolia and to Fairy Tail. I promised her that I would join Fairy Tail when I was done traveling. I gave her a silver necklace with our initials on it. She had smiled and she was off.
It was out in Alvarez where it got weird. I was taking out dark guilds left and right. I had just taken out a dark guild and was about to just leave when I heard a whimper. I went to see and found a girl chained up. I knelt by her and she flinched.
"Shh sweetie. It's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you." I said softly. "I'm gonna get you out of here."
She looked up. "Who...Who are you?"
I smiled at her, "My name's Kelas. What's yours?"
"Ultear." she said softly as I removed her chains.
"You're Ur's daughter aren't you?" I said.
She froze before glaring at me, "How do you know that name? She abandoned me here!"
I wrapped her in a hug that she tried to fight but eventually just gave up.
"She...she left me with these horrid people." she said.
I held her and told her that her mother thought that she was dead, that's why she never came. The Council had told her mother that she had died due to her magic. I told her that her mother had looked for her until she was told that her baby had died. After that, she was attached to my hip and we took out the dark guilds here in Alvarez. She had also gained a name, Ghost. She was speedy and took out people that didn't see it coming. We also picked up another person, Meredy. Her village had been attacked and we took out the people who did it. She came with us and helped us out on missions. We returned to Fiore when I got a call from Mira that Lisanna had died and attended the funeral.
Ultear headed for the Council and told me that she'd be my spy as we had planned to take down those who are corrupted in the Council, those who knew about the experiments. Meredy had gone with Ultear since she had grown closer to Ultear than to me, but that was okay.
Along the way I picked up several silver keys and a couple more gold keys. I found Pisces, Libra, and the rumored thirteenth gate of Ophiuchus who I called Kia. I had also come across a person who held Aries, Scorpio, and Gemini. She was apart of a dark guild, Oracion Seis, and I took her out with ease. I took her keys from her but found out that she was only a member because she was told that the leader knew where her sister was. She had promised the leader that she would follow him and unwittingly tied herself to him. I had freed her from that promise as the promise had nullified when she was taken out.
She was free to go find her sister on her own. She actually was heading for Fairy Tail before heading out to find her sister. Gemini and Scorpio warmed up to me quite quickly, Gemini because I allowed them to have fun and be themselves and Scorpio because I had his girlfriend. Aries was more difficult because she had been abused by her last few masters.
She had her head hidden in her fluffy pink hair, and one arm was rubbing the other nervously. Her woollen covered body shook and her eyes were squeezed shut.
"Aries, are you okay?" I asked quietly.
She glanced up with brown eyes, nodding slowly before shying away.
"Aries," I said gently. "I'm not like your other masters. I'm not even your master."
"I'm sorry!" she said as she began crying, "I'm s-sorry I'm weak. You can sell m-me if you want to...I don't mind. I-I'm just happy the others are happy and safe…"
I smiled softly at her and pulled her into a hug. I heard her gasp in shock. After a few minutes of her being tense, she relaxed and returned the hug. I pulled away but still kept contact.
She looked up in shock.
"Aries, I will never sell you. I will never see you as weak. You are your own person and every person is different. I was saying that I am not your master, but your friend. I'm making a bond of friendship with you, not a contract of slavery." I said.
Her lip started quivering.
"So, will you, Aries, join my family?" I asked as I held my hand out.
She stood up straight and confidently nodded, she took my hand.
"I'm happy you joined us Aries. Call me Lucy, or Princess as some of my spirits have taken to calling me. Though in battle situations call me Kelas okay?" I said.
She nodded. "I'm happy that you have my key." she said before looking down again with a 'sorry'.
"Aries, it's okay to look at me." I said and moved to touch her.
She flinched away with a whimper, "I'm sorry."
"Shh, it's okay, I'm not gonna hurt you." I said gently.
I placed my hand on her arm and moved so she could see me. She stayed where she was as I gently held her hand. I began running my fingers through her pink hair. She relaxed slightly and I moved to hug her. She tensed again but she relaxed in my hold.
"Shh, it's okay. You're safe with me. I'm not gonna hurt you sweetie." I said gently as I rubbed her back in slow circles.
She relaxed as she began crying. I held her and rocked her. I whispered comforting words in her ear and when she was calm she pulled back a little.
"Sorry." she said.
"It's alright." I said with a smile.
"I'm available anytime except from 10pm and 6am. I am a defense spirit and I use my wool to distract people." she said confidently.
I smiled at her, "Alright. You may return if you wish. Keep in mind, if you ever need anything, just send a little magic through your key and I'll call you out okay?" I said softly.
She smiled, "I'm happy you have my key now." and with that she disappeared.
Nowadays, she's more confident in herself. She still has relapses and I hold her each time. All of my spirits have been useful in taking down the dark guilds. I've used Aries as a defensive tactic and had her use her wool as a distraction. Apparently, she has a deadly aim with her wool and a very very protective side as I witnessed her ram fully into one mage for hurting me. She had rammed into him so hard that he went down after that. The comment she made had me smiling.
"No one hurts my princess!" she yelled.
Taurus, who was out helping, was shocked. Then he smiled and continued to bash away at the current guild we were fighting. It was a little bit tougher than usual but still no problem. We were about a third of the way through the guilds and I decided that once we were done with this odd dark guild, we would return to Fiore and to Fairy Tail.
*Third Person at the Council*
"Do you really think bringing in this mage, and honoring them as a wizard saint will really stop them from turning on us?" a well dressed man asks as he walks in on the middle of a heated discussion.
"Perhaps, perhaps not, but whoever this mage is, they show a magical prowess that is far beyond anyone we have ever seen Draco," rank four wizard saint Warrod says.
"Well then if that is the case, what rank would you consider them?" a now identified Draco, number two rank wizard sait drawls.
"To be able to rid almost all of the dark guilds occupying Alvarez, including Hell's Nightmare one that even our strongest mages could not, and if our information here is correct, holds the power of a wolf slayer and a celestial mage," looking to the shocked faces of his colleagues, Warrod continues, "I'd say they are worthy of fourth rank wizard saint" Warrod announces to the rest of the Wizard Council.
All councilmen looking at the final picture of a blonde girl grinning viciously at her defeated foes with a man in a suit on her left and a scorpion on the right. With one thought in mind, where did this girl come from?
AN: And that's a wrap. What do you all think so far? In this, Lucy's spirits are more protective of her especially Aquarius. I feel like in the show, Lucy's insecurities come from not having anyone to tell her otherwise and that Lucy is incredibly smart. She has to be because her father made her study.
Plus, in my opinion, Celestial Magic has more power than a castor, ie Natsu, because they open a gate to another world and sustain a being from that world. If Lucy could, she would let someone try to hold open a gate just for them to see if they could. Of course, in this Lucy has huge reserves due to practice and a whole other secondary magic.
