Chapter 3: Explosions and dynamite

Lincoln woke from his slumber. The day had finally come. It was Sunday! It was the day of the Ace Saavy Convention. Lincoln pinched himself to confirm it wasn't a dream, and ran to his parents' bedroom, where his father was snoring like a bear. Lincoln catapulted himself on top of him, awaking his father instantly, "Say in a who in a what!?" his father exclaimed, taking a minute to realize he was not dreaming.

"Oh, it was a just a dream." He thought to himself.

"Dad, come on come! Get up! We need to get to the convention!" Lincoln urged.

His father simply yawned and stretched, "Love the enthusiasm, but the convention starts at 10, and it's only…" Lynn glanced at his alarm clock, "9:45!? Alright buddy let's get up." He said quickly as he raced to the kitchen. Thanks to his cooking skills, he had breakfast whipped up in ten minutes, and after a quick breakfast, the duo leaped into the Vanzilla and sped off.

*2 hours earlier

Frank tightly held the remote in his hand, and the demon snickered and chuckled, thinking about all the people who could die in this explosion. The box of dynamite had been placed under the stage, and the duo were hiding

"Can it, will you?" Frank demanded.

"I'm just trying to make our last moments memorable." The voice cackled.

The man groaned, "Do it for the kids, do it for the kids," he murmured to himself.

"Do it for the kids? What, you don't get any pleasure or joy out of suffering?" the demon asked maniacally.

"No, I don't actually. And I DON'T appreciate you reading my thoughts"

"And I, DON'T…" Frank waited for the demon to finish, "CARE!" the demon cackled.

"Oh, piss off you son of a-"

"Ah, ah, ah, we don't use that kind of language Frankie boy."

Frank groaned out of frustration

Now, back to our father-son duo.

Lincoln and Lynn (Sr) arrived at the convention at 11:05, making them more than an hour late, but just in time for the mayor's speech.

"Come on Dad, let's go!" the white haired boy urged.

"I'm coming, I'm coming!"

They made it to the stage just in time. Lincoln tried to find Clyde, but the task proved to be difficult due to the large crowd. The convention had taken place for charity, and the mayor wanted to express her gratitude, "Hello all and welcome! Thank you so much for attending, your donation will be going to Royal Woods children's hospital..."

As the mayor continued her speech, Frank and the evil spirit stayed out of sight, hiding behind a short hawthorn bush.

"Alright Frank, everyone's gathered at the stage. Press. The. Button" the demon commanded.

But his words fell on deaf ears. Frank simply stared at the families standing there, and analysed them, every parent and child smiling and laughing. The parents loved their children, and vice versa. He couldn't take that away from them.

"No."

The demon was confused, but this soon turned to rage.

"Why not?! You don't even know these people! Their lives are meaningless!" the voice ranted.

"Every life has meaning." Frank stated, standing up to the servant of the devil himself.

"Oh well, we tried this the nice way, now we do it MY way." Suddenly Frank took a deep breath, but was no longer there. Instead of Frank in his body, there was a demon in there, who had possessed the poor man.

"Oh, it feels great to have a body again," the demon said, "now let's get down to business."

The demon took the remote out of his (or should I say, Frank's) pocket, and pressed the button to start the ten second timer.

Lincoln and Lynn had their arms around each other and were intently listening to the speech that 'Ace Saavy' was giving. However, Lincoln couldn't help but notice that there was a little beeping sound that was getting faster and faster.

He gently nudged his dad, "Dad what do you think that beeping is?"

"Hmmm-" but before the patriarch could finish, the stage exploded. Lincoln was tossed back as he saw the world in slow motion: shards of glass flying everywhere, people screaming, other bodies lying down on the grass, either dead or unconscious. Lincoln finally met contact with the ground, headfirst. He was unconscious.

Author's note: Hello all, I'm so sorry that it took so long, school has been a nightmare. I will try and post the next chapter as soon as possible. Feel free to review my story.
