Ambulance and police sirens echoed through the air. Bits of fog still remained, and the Sun had just begun to set. Lincoln sat on the bonnet of a police car, wrapped in a grey blanket, and wore a glum expression. He tried as hard as he could to not cry, and he refused to eat anything, despite the police officers' kind offers. He heard the cries and wails of many other people, people who'd lost loved ones. Ambulances kept coming and going, while their sirens rang through Lincoln's ear. And that's when he heard him.

"Lincoln…"

Lincoln jerked his head up, and looked around to find who had said that, with no success. But the raspy voice struck again.

"Lincoln…"

Lincoln breathed heavily, fearful of whoever was saying that. The voice kept going.

"Lincoln…"

Lincoln couldn't take it anymore and started crying. He felt he deserved this. After all he had caused his own father's death. He was a selfish person. He was a bad son. He was a monster.

"Lincoln!"

Lincoln recognized the voice and looked up and saw his mother and 10 sisters. They rushed over to him and embraced him in a tight hug. Once they broke the hug, Rita gently put her hands on Lincoln's shoulders, and looked at him with a sorrow expression.

"Lincoln, is it true? Is your father…" her lips quivered. She couldn't get the words out of her mouth. Lincoln simply looked at her and started to cry uncontrollably. Rita hugged her son tightly and started to shed tears as well. The Loud sisters embraced their mother and brother, and all 10 started to weep. Life wouldn't be the same without their dad.

Several events took place in the next few days. The Louds, Pop Pop, Aunt Ruth, the Casagrandes, Santiagos, McBrides, Kotaro and even Angus (who'd flown in from Scotland) attended Lynn Loud Sr's funeral. Lynn's Table, the restraint their father ran, shut down. Lori had taken a break from Fairway University (after explaining the situation) to help support the family. Leni, on the other hand, had been admitted to hospital after trying to hang herself (fortunately she was unsuccessful). Luna quit the Moon Goats, stopped playing rock music, and instead started to play sad country music. Luan had given up comedy completely. Lynn Loud Sr had been the only person in the family who laughed at her jokes, but without him, she saw no point in comedy. Lynn Loud Jr quit most of her sports teams, and instead stayed indoors most of the time. Most would think that Lucy was acting normal, but she was gloomier than ever. The twins stopped fighting, and Lola took a break from her pageants, while Lana (like Lynn Jr) stayed indoors, and rarely went out to play in the mud. Lisa had locked herself up in her room, trying to find a way to resurrect him. Lily, despite being a toddler, knew that something was wrong, and she was often confused as to why she didn't see her dad anymore. Rita had become a mess. She would stay in their room, looking at pictures of her and her husband, crying every time she saw his face. But out of all the family members, Lincoln took his death the hardest, since he had been the last one to be with him before his death. Despite all that his sisters told him, he still believed that it was his fault. He threw out every Ace Saavy item that he had, along with all his video games as well. He would often cry himself to sleep, and was often extremely reluctant to go to school. And when he was home, he seldom came out of his room – even to eat – and one time, Lori had to force feed him. And then there were the nightmares. They came every night, and they would haunt him through the day.

Lincoln was standing in the street. It was nighttime, with only a single streetlight on, the one he was under. He stared into the darkness, when suddenly, one of the streetlights flickered, and then it stayed lit. Lincoln stared in disbelief.

"Dad?" Lincoln rushed over to him arms open wide. But the light turned off, and street was completely dark. And Lincoln wasn't hugging anyone but himself. The streetlight turned on again, but his dad wasn't there. Lincoln looked around and saw no-one. And that's when he heard the voice.

"Lincoln…"

Lincoln suddenly awoke. He was panting heavily, and he quickly looked around. He was still in his room. It was a nightmare. His dad wasn't there. His dad was dead. Upon recalling his father's death, he started to cry silently.

"Poor little Linky. Crying over the father he couldn't save."

Lincoln jerked his head, eyeing the room for whoever this was.

The raspy voice continued, "Don't bother looking around, I reside in my host. Now, let's get to now each other, shall we?"
