AN: Sorry for the late update peeps. School's been keeping me busy as well as sports. Anyway, enjoy the new chapter. ~Immortalshark

*Mira's POV*

The entire guild was watching as Lucy made a contract with her two new spirits. One was a small snowman like creature but really was a dog, and the other was a pair of large dogs both with black coats but one had white paws. Natsu then grinned.

"Alright then it's settled. The three of you are gonna be a part of our team!" he said.

Lucy looked at him, "You have a team?"

"Aye! Even though everyone in the guild is allied to one another, some members that get along well with each other, form teams within the guild. That way jobs that may be hard for one person to take can get done by a team." Happy explained.

"Makes sense." Lucy said as she thought about it, "Are you sure? I'm used to being on my own, so I'm not used to being a team player." she said.

Luna started growling at Natsu. Lucy's face changed as she glared right at Natsu.

"What's the job?" she asked.

He showed her and she read it out loud.

"Shirotsume Town. We get 200,000 jewels for taking care of a book from this Duke of Everlue...and it says this guy's hiring for...a blonde haired maid." she trailed off.

"And we know a blonde-haired girl don't we?" Natsu smiled.

I almost squealed at his attraction to Lucy. I looked to Lucy to see her hair shadowing her eyes. The others grimaced, even Gray.

"I see, you had no interest in forming a team with me. You only said that so you could use me." she said. She looked up and glared at him, "You know what, I'm going to do this job, but not because you asked me to. Duke Everlue has something else."

Before anyone else said anything, she was gone in a flash of light. Bisca was glaring at him.

"What?" Natsu asked, "It was a hefty reward for destroying a book and I needed the money."

I winced as I felt a murderous aura. Surprisingly, it was Cana.

"She is not an object for you to use Natsu! You just so happened to be heading the same way." Cana sneered.

Her aura calmed down as a wolf brushed against her.

"No way. I found her so she's mine." Natsu said.

He got pummeled into the ground. I looked to see Lucy on top of a scared Natsu.

"I am not your possession to do what you wish with. I will never be an object of someone's plans ever again. You're lucky that I'm much stronger, otherwise, my spirits would have whipped your hide. They still want to." Lucy snarled as she bared her teeth at him, "And my spirits are a hell of a lot more protective of me."

Master came out, "Lucy dear, let them come." he said.

Lucy sighed, "Your demise then." she said.

In a blinding flash of light, four spirits came through. It was a mermaid, a man with six legs, a bipedaled bull with a giant axe, and a winged horse. The murderous auras of the spirits had each one of the guild members promise to never ever treat Lucy like an object. They moved to attack but didn't get very far because Lucy got in front of them.

"It's alright. I bashed him into the floor for it." Lucy said.

They all poofed away and then one more came out. It was a pink haired lady with ram horns on her head.

"Whoa, she's hot." one male said.

"Yeah, hey Lucy! Think you could loan her to me?" another asked.

Oh boy was that a wrong thing to say. Lucy and surprisingly Loke glared at those who said that.

"Aries is not a sex toy! Like hell am I going to let pervs like you even get close to her!" Lucy yelled.

Aries had apparently ignored that and headbutted Natsu. She also headbutted the man who said that. When Lucy went to her however, she flinched.

*Lucy's POV*

I was proud of Aries for standing up to the guy, but I turned to see her frozen in fear. I reached for her but she flinched.

"Easy Aries. It's just me. It's alright sweetpea. It's Lucy." I said as I flared out my magic to calm her.

She was still looking down when I touched her but she didn't flinch. I pulled her in for a hug and she cried there.

"Shh, it's okay. It's okay. They're not here. I'm not letting you get hurt by anyone like that. I promised you that didn't I?" I whispered.

I had noticed that Loke had taken an interest in Aries. I glared at him but this time, he glared back. I wondered why until I remembered that Aries was looking for her boyfriend. She had wanted me to come here since she could sense him here.

I motioned for him to follow me once I closed Aries' gate. He did and I went right to Karen's grave. I knew where it was thanks to Aries. I waited for him to approach. Once he got within hearing range, I began.

"Rumors say she was a great celestial wizard, and had a contract with you...right?" I said slowly, "The spirit Loke, or...Leo the Lion."

He smiled sadly, "Well I won't deny it, but how did you find out?"

"One, I'm a celestial mage myself and have contracts with spirits that know. Two I have Aries. She's actually the reason why I joined in the first place. She's been looking for you. But something about your situation has me worried. Normally when an owner of the gate key dies, the contract between the two is terminated. The spirit is then forced back into their world until their key falls into new hands and a new contract is made. Meaning your contract with her should have ended on the day she died." I said.

"That's right, and it's been three years now." he said.

"Three years?! How?!" I yelled.

He smiled again, "Pretty amazing huh, but I don't have the strength to keep it up."

"Hold on! There has to be some way I can save you! What about your gate key?" I said.

"You don't have to save me." he said.

"Don't say that!" I yelled.

"Look...there's no way I can go back. I broke a fundamental law that applies to both wizard and spirit and as a result...I was banished from the celestial world for all eternity." Loke explained.

"What exactly is it that you think you did?" I asked.

"I can't deny it, so I have no choice but to face the punishment. I'm a traitor to my own kind. I was contracted to Karen, but she died because I killed her." he said.

I smacked him, "That's a lie. I beat the one who beat Karen. She said it was harder beating me than the other one. Why? Because Karen took on a job she couldn't handle! You had nothing to do with it and you know it! Aries knows it! She knows you were just protecting her!" I told him.

"How? How do you know that?" he asked.

I smacked him again for his stupidity, "Loke, Aries told me what happened. I know what Karen did to her. Why do you think she froze up at the guild? I calmed her down and reassured her that I wasn't going to let it happen to her again. Not under me at least."

"It was my fault and I've lived with the guilt ever since. The only way I could make things right...is if I died too." he said and he fell down.

I grabbed him and tried to force his gate. I ignored his pleas and continued to try and force his gate.

"Cut it out Lucy!" I ignored him in favor of putting more power into forcing his gate.

"Don't do this! Please don't make me live with the guilt of killing you too!" Loke yelled.

"You didn't kill her! Whoever decided you were responsible needs to know that they were wrong!" I stated.

The magic seemed to snap like something was broken. Loke looked up at the sky and then the water began to rise in the air.

"What's happening?" I asked.

"Impossible...it's him...The Celestial Spirit King.." Loke said.

We watched as a tall man wearing armor and a cape with an interesting mustache.

"What in the heck is he doing here?" Loke asked.

"That's him? The ruler of the Spirit World?" I asked.

"Hello my old friend." the Spirit King greeted, "As you well know, both wizards and spirits must obey celestial law. And taking the life of a key holder is forbidden under any circumstance."

Loke looked shocked as if still not believing the king was actually here.

"Though not by your hand, you were still responsible for your key holder's death, Leo the Lion. Therefore you have been banished from the celestial world for eternity." the king stated.

I glared at him, "That's not fair at all!"

"Lucy stop!" Loke protested.

"Old friend, human girl, I have named my judgement and it stands. Leo has broken celestial law." the king said.

"Loke's been suffering in the human world for three long years! He didn't kill Karen. He stood up to her because somebody had to protect Aries!" I yelled.

"I must say I find it heartbreaking to see my old friend in such a fragile condition." the king said.

"What's wrong with you?!" I yelled, not caring that he was the king, "An old friend is still a friend right?! There's one in front of you right now asking for a second chance! So open your eyes, Stache Face!"

He looked stunned that I was telling him off, "Stache Face?"

"Uh Lucy?" Loke started but I ignored him.

"Karen died cause she took on a job she couldn't handle! He had nothing to do with it! You have to change your verdict cause he's innocent! Please sir!" I said.

"Just drop it already. It doesn't matter if the verdicts changed! I'm not looking for forgiveness! I wanna disappear and finally be free from this guilt!" Loke yelled.

I put all of my magic energy I could and apparently I surprised the king, "I won't let you! You disappearing isn't gonna bring Karen back to life! All it's gonna do is create more sadness! You did nothing wrong! Because it can't be a crime to protect the people you care about!" I felt all my spirits around me. I could sense that I could hold it for a few minutes.

I looked at Loke, "What about all of your friends?! You're just gonna leave them?! If you were to die, you'd leave me and Aries! And everyone else here behind! Think about us and how miserable we would be without you! Hell, I came to Fairy Tail FOR Aries because she wanted to see you."

I could feel my power draining fast and the gates closed. Man, I haven't drained my magic like this in a while.

"Lucy!" I heard Loke said.

"All of my friends who came forward just now, they feel the same way I do." I said.

"You're friends?" Loke said.

"If you're a celestial spirit too, then you can sympathize with what Loke and Aries went through." I said as I tried to get up but fell.

"Would you stop?! You're gonna end up like Karen if you keep this up! Don't risk your life to save mine!" Loke yelled.

The King spoke up then, "Hearing you speak so highly of my old friend, has led me to think that maybe not his actions, but the law itself that should be in question."

I was surprised by the change.

"Leo was forced to commit his crime to protect Aries, his brethren, and the human girl who's willing to risk her life to save Leo. I am so moved by your bonds of loyalty, I shall make an exception in this case. Leo the Lion, you are hereby granted return passage to the celestial world." the king declared.

Loke looked stunned. I looked at him and grinned, "You're the best! Thanks Stache Face!"

He grinned, "You are exonerated. Be grateful to the guidance of the stars." he said slowly disappearing.

"I have to make it up to her," Loke said, "Please sir."

"Very well then, if you insist on atoning for your actions of the past, then I hereby order you to live your life in the service of your friend, the human girl." he ordered gently. "You are lucky to have found such a loyal friend. I suggest you protect her with your life, just as she fought to save yours." and with that he disappeared completely.

I smiled at him, "You heard him."

Loke looked at me and got up, "Hey Lucy…" he said and held out a hand. I took it and he thanked me before disappearing in a golden light.

I looked to see his key now in my possession, "Welcome to the family Loke." I said.

-Meanwhile with the Spirits-

*Aquarius' POV*

All of Lucy's spirits were watching as she interacted with Leo. A loud bang startled us all, and we realized that it was Lucy's magic. It was a shock when Lucy's magic slammed hard against Leo's gate. We all watched as her magic slammed harder against the gate with each time she did it.

"You didn't kill her! Whoever decided you were responsible needs to know that they were wrong!" Lucy said.

Even I didn't challenge the king. It was a big shock that the Spirit King had appeared in front of Lucy. We all watched the interaction. I watched as she challenged him. She even called him Stache Face. I had to hold in my laughter. I couldn't after taking a glance at Cancer. Lucy had just insulted the king and he didn't care!

Then I found myself and all of the other spirits of Lucy on Earthland standing behind Lucy. I would stand by her for as long as I could.

"What about all of your friends?! You're just gonna leave them? If you were to die, you'd leave me, Aries and everyone else here behind! Think about us and how miserable we would be without you! You dying is just gonna create more sadness." Lucy said.

I watched from the Celestial World as Lucy's magic depleted further. She changed the verdict and the law with her actions. Leo was back and the King found a soft spot for Lucy.

*Spirit King's POV*

I had just gotten back and sat on my chair to think. That human girl was spunky. I can see why Aquarius and the rest are so protective of her. I was about to leave when I noticed Aries standing nearby.

"Yes Aries?" I asked.

"Sir, I'd like to tell you about what Karen did to cause Leo to do what he did." she said.

I was surprised because it seemed that she never wanted to talk about it with anyone. I nodded and listened. I listened as I realized that Aries was used as a sex toy and a distraction. She was punished by being made to stay on Earthland for disobeying an order. I listened as she looked down as she continued to explain the situation that led to Leo's banishment.

I could sense that she was scared and was about to comfort her when she flinched before she disappeared. I watched from the spy glass as Lucy had called Aries. I watched as Aries was skittish for a second around Lucy. Lucy had a gentle smile.

Aries curled into a ball on Lucy's bed. I watched them interact and realized that Aries trusts Lucy.

"I told you she's a spitfire." a sudden voice said.

I turned to see Aquarius standing there with a look of pride on her face.

"Yes. She is. I find her quite entertaining. I haven't had a reaction like that in years." I said sort of relieved that Lucy didn't seem to fear me.

Aquarius just smiled, "She has her ways of getting to people. Despite her being low on magic, she still called out Aries to see if she was okay. Heck, she got to me when she was just a little thing. She never saw me as this big scary spirit, she saw me as a big sister, or a mother at times. I tried to ignore her, I tried with all I had but she just ignored it and continued to be a happy little bundle of joy. Despite all of the stuff she's been through in her short life." I watched a distant look appear in her eyes, "Layla passed when Lucy was six, Lucy being ignored by her father till she up and ran from him. Her being trained by a Celestial Dragon and a Wolf, then leaving and taking down so many Alvarez dark guilds. I've gotten angry at her for leaving the keys behind, but after she came back and explained, I realized that she wanted to protect us as much as we did her. Heck, she joined Fairy Tail just so Aries could see Leo one last time before he faded and another Leo took his place."

AN: And that's a wrap. What did y'all think of the Spirit King? Not many authors have a point of view from the Spirit King's perspective. Plus, I think Lucy and Aries' relationship is sweet, as Aries finally trusts someone other than Leo.

On another note, I have a project I have to do for my English class. It's a short story and once it's done, I might post it here. It's going to be a similar theme to Ridley Pearson's Kingdom Keepers and I want to see who would like to read it once it's finished and edited.
