Day 19: Core
"It is."
"It's not."
"Yes, it is, Kurt."
"No, Blaine. No. 'Serendipity' is not a Christmas movie, and you will not convince me otherwise."
"It literally starts with a Christmas song and with the main characters shopping for presents a couple of days before Christmas! And it ends with them shopping at the same store at Christmastime again!" Blaine argued.
Kurt rolled his eyes. "That is true. However, between those two scenes is about an hour and a half of movie that definitely does not take place at Christmas or have anything to do with it. At its core, it is not a Christmas movie!" Kurt crossed his arms, steadfast in his position.
"Okay, fine. By your logic, then, 'Die Hard' is a Christmas movie, since it takes place at Christmastime," Blaine countered, mirroring Kurt's pose in response. It was so on.
"I'm not even dignifying that with an answer," Kurt huffed. Blaine snorted, recalling the hours-long debate they'd had on that topic last year. At one point, Kurt and he had resorted to making visual aids to support their respective positions. Blaine had, in the end, begrudgingly conceded to Kurt's denial of the action flick's claim to holiday movie status.
The two fell silent, staring at one another defiantly. The TV screen blinked as the screen saver for their streaming service came to life. Apparently, their "discussion" had gone on for so long that even Hulu was bored.
"We could always watch 'The Holiday' instead," Kurt said, breaking the silence.
Blaine held Kurt's gaze steadily for a beat before his mouth curved upwards in the corners. "I can't argue with Jude Law," he replied.
Laughing at the end of their faux fight, the two settled next to one another. Blaine picked up the remote and navigated to the movie they'd chosen. "So after this, we can watch 'Serendipity'?" he asked tentatively.
Kurt laced his fingers with those of Blaine's free hand, snuggling closer. "I can't argue with John Cusack," he answered with a grin.
"It's a Christmas miracle," Blaine muttered as the opening credits started to roll.
