Well… I gave it a day to think it over.
And my conclusion was I need to speak to Aaron.
So I dialed him while Weiss was brushing my hair. Don't ask. I don't know how I got into this myself.
So I dialed him up. After three rings he answers.
And immediately yells NOW YOU CALL YOU BASTARD?!
I pulled my scroll away from my ear to save my sensitive hearing.
Weiss then politely asked "Can you please take him off speaker?"
To which I informed her "It's not on speaker."
THREE. MONTHS. He reminded me IT TOOK YOU THREE MONTHS TO CALL ME. AND AT THE WORST POSSIBLE MOMENT OF MY LIFE?!
"Yeah yeah good to hear from you too." I replied sarcastically. "Look I was just calling to check up on you."
Oh yeah, I'm doing fine. He replied. Other than my life being completely ruined thanks to Neo!
"To be fair that was mostly your fault for not doing a three point room scan." I sassed.
. I'm already getting shit from Taiyang! He yelled.
I rolled my eyes, "Yeah, because one of his daughters is obsessed over you."
From the mirror I saw Weiss raise an eyebrow at me.
I whispered to her, "I'll tell you later."
I then heard a voice in the background that sounded like Yang telling him to shut up.
NO THIS BASTARD HAS THE NERVE TO CALL ME AFTER WHAT HAPPENED! Aaron yelled.
Well you're going to wake up Dad and Ruby if you keep this up. Yang pointed out.
I DON'T GIVE A SHIT! He retorted HE NEEDS TO KNOW MY DISPLEASURE!
I cleared my throat "So is it like the middle of the night there or what's going on?" I asked.
Yeah, it's like 3 in the morning here. What time is it for you there? Yang asked.
"About… 7?" I answered unconfidently.
"10:37 pm" Weiss corrected.
I glanced up at her from the mirror and mused "So… We're 5 hours ahead of Patch and Vale?"
Weiss nodded "Indeed. Now hold still, there's still so many knots in your hair."
"Yeah yeah Ice Queen." I chuckled.
She glared at me and warned me "I can make your head hurt with just this alone." She brandished her hairbrush as if it were a weapon.
I chuckled again "Alright alright. You got me."
Somewhere in the background there were two more voices while me and Weiss were talking. Both sounded like Ruby and Tai chastising Aaron for his yelling.
Though they called him by his actual name Aaron. So I guess I'm not calling him Moon in the future.
-BESIDES THIS IDIOT HAS IT COMING! He argued.
Aaron, you shouldn't insult your friends. Ruby told him.
HE KNOWS HE'S AN IDIOT! Aaron argued.
I chuckled "Aaron, that's no way to talk to your future wife." I said sarcastically.
YOU KNOW DAMN WELL SHE ISN'T MY FUTURE WIFE! He yelled.
I chuckled evilly.
Weiss looked more confused than ever.
I again told her "I'll explain more later."
Somewhere in between I heard Yang yell Language Aaron!
With various arguments being made, something tells me it's from either suggesting to go to Haven or Aaron's sex tape that I feel like broke one or two rules from the Geneva Convention and several laws.
Aaron groaned and finally said I'll call you back to ask about Keoth, I need to calm everyone, including myself down.
"Alright, well hope you're going to be in one piece." I told him.
I could feel his glare through the scroll as he said Bye.
He then hung up.
Weiss then asked me "What was all of that about? And what did you mean by what you said earlier?"
I shrugged "Remember the whole mess with Dr. Merlot?"
She nodded.
"And remember when Aaron slash Moon decided to show off like me and Keoth?" I asked her.
She tilted her head at me and asked "Is there a point to this?"
I sighed "Well Ruby developed a crush on him after that."
Weiss sighed "Of course that happens."
I gave her a cheeky smile and mused "Like you did with me when you learned my name?"
"That's different!" Weiss defended.
"Is it?" I retorted.
She crossed her arms at me.
I chuckled and told her, "Sorry, but you have to admit, it was pretty funny."
She rolled her eyes at me with a small chuckle sipping from her lips. "Alright, I guess it was a little."
She continued to brush my hair, parting all of it to one side.
"Weiss, what are you doing?" I asked out of confusion.
She gave me a smile and answered "Styling your hair."
"Okay… why though?"
"Your hair looks like a rat's nest." She explained, "And I cannot let you represent your family name in such disgrace."
I gave a small nod and said "Yeah I got that, but why make me look like an emo boy band member from 2013?"
She gave a mischievous grin as she fired back "At least you dress the part."
Now it's my turn to steal her catchphrase. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Exactly what you think." She replied coldly.
I narrowed my eyes on her and told her "This is exactly why your nickname is Ice Queen."
She rolled her eyes at me with a smile "Of course emo boy."
I gave a sigh "This is payback isn't it?"
"Yes, yes it is." Weiss answered as she put the hairbrush she used away.
Once her back was turned I slicked my hair back. "Yeah no, not gonna work unless I shave half my head."
She gave a soft sigh "I suppose you're right."
She then turned to me with a stern look and her arms crossed. Otherwise known as her nagging pose I've come to know.
"Ok what did I do?" I asked.
"I heard about yesterday, how you knocked Henry Marigold over with a beer glass." She told me.
I rolled my eyes at her "Oh like you wouldn't have done the same."
She gave no response. Just a glare.
I sighed "Look Jacques dragged me there without consent and proceeded to take me to several places afterwards while I was not in the best of moods. What'd ya expect of me?"
She rolled her eyes "That is no excuse, I expect you to act properly while in public. Like it or not, what you do reflects on our name."
"But I'm a Vermilion." I pointed out.
"Irrelevant to the public eye." She pointed out.
I raised an eyebrow out of confusion.
She tapped a finger on her upper arm as if she were waiting for me to piece things together.
After a few moments she let out an annoyed sigh "Since they know we're letting you stay with us, they associate you with the Schnee name. And unfortunately, that means whatever you do reflects on us."
"Still not getting the point, who cares what people think?" I asked.
"We do." She answered "In Atlas, public opinion is everything. If you don't live up to someone's standards, they will eat away at you."
"So like high school all over again." I mumbled.
Weiss shrugged "That's high society for you."
I stood up with a stretch "Well thanks for the tip Weiss, but I was never raised to give a damn what people thought of me."
Weiss softened her look and slowly shook her head "Achilles, that's not going to work here."
I patted her head with a smile "Good, that'll stick it to the rich folk."
I then turned to the bathroom and told her "I'm gonna get ready for bed, Oh and I'll sleep on the floor."
She raised an eyebrow at me "Won't that be uncomfortable?"
"Not if you have a spare air mattress somewhere."
She nodded "I'll call for Klein and see if we do." She then tilted her head at me "Do you need any help?"
I shook my head "I've managed before. Besides, it's kinda embarrassing to have someone with me that isn't Rose."
I then shut the door and locked it. It's not that I don't trust her… Okay it's at least 10% that I don't trust her. The other 90% is that I don't want to fall into the anime stereotypes of character 1 walking in while character 2 is changing, in the shower, something along those lines. I absolutely hate that.
Anyway, I need to shower. Might help clear my mind.
Meanwhile in Patch
{Aaron's perspective}
So while I yelled at Justin about his abrupt timing to APPARENTLY GET OUT OF WHATEVER EMOTIONAL DAMAGE HE HAD. Taiyang and Ruby had apparently came into the room
Taiyang yelled "IT'S 3 IN THE MORNING AARON! WHY ARE YOU YELLING?!"
Ruby rubbed her sleepy eyes with a groan.
"It's because this bastard has the NERVE to call me RIGHT NOW of all times!" I yelled.
Yang turned to Tai and told him "I tried to warn him."
Tai rolled his eyes, "Just keep it down please."
"NO." I protested "This idiot needs to know how angry I am at him! BESIDES HE KNOWS HE HAS IT COMING!"
"Aaron, you shouldn't insult your friends." Ruby told me.
"HE KNOWS HE'S AN IDIOT!" I yelled.
Aaron, that's no way to talk to your future wife. Justin said with sass.
Tai trained his eyes on me with a death glare.
"YOU KNOW DAMN WELL SHE ISN'T MY FUTURE WIFE! " I yelled.
Yang yelled "Language Aaron!"
I could hear him cackling on the other side with Weiss in the background.
"Did he say something about Ruby being 'your future wife'?" Tai asked sternly.
Ruby looked too sleepy to know what happened.
I held my hand up to Tai and told him "No, and I do not have any ill intentions towards your daughters."
He continued his death glare on me.
I turned to my scroll and told Justin "I'll call you back to ask about Keoth, I need to calm everyone down, including myself."
Justin replied Alright, well hope you're going to be in one piece.
This bastard… "Bye."
I then hung up.
Tai kept his death glare at me.
I responded the same way Justin would in this situation. "I don't find your daughter attractive, she's too young for me anyway." Or at least I hope he would try to convince Jacques that way. Somehow I doubt it.
Tai softened his look, but seemed to not be convinced.
I took a deep breath and explained to him "Ruby just has an appreciation for badassery. Which happened a while ago."
Ruby had stepped out to presumably go back to her room with how sleepy she was.
And so comes a little white lie "Besides, I have a girlfriend."
Yang raised an eyebrow at me, probably expecting me to say Neo.
"You mean the girl in the video?" Tai asked.
I sucked in my breath through my teeth "Not anymore, the fact she does this after… what she presumed, I wonder why I dated her in the first place."
Tai crossed his arms with an eyebrow raised.
"Look, your daughter is the most capable person I know. Despite her age she's dealt with numerous things that I have never dealt with in a million years." I assured him. "She's smart, caring and a great leader." I told him "But I cannot see myself dating her. Ok?"
Yang gave a soft smile whereas Tai stopped giving me his death glare. "Alright, what is the name of this girl of yours?"
And now the moment you've all been waiting for, "Her name is Velvet. She's a part of team CVFY."
Tai looked at Yang confused.
"He means to pronounce it: coffee. Dunno why he keeps pronouncing it civy."
I turned to Yang and explained "It's just how I say things ok?"
She gave a chuckle "Yeah, like how you say salmon instead of salmon."
I rolled my eyes at her. "Everyone pronounces something different. Can we get back on topic?"
Tai and Yang glanced at each other, locked in a silent conversation.
Tai then turned back to me. "Alright, I'll believe you."
I nodded while thanking him. I then looked out the window. It was snowing.
Means I don't have much longer until I need to get going to Mistral.
… Maybe we should sneak away, it would be easier. Hopefully we can convince Yang to come with us.
If not… well they managed without her, plus we have Pyrrha so that should help us more.
{? perspective}
"So… what you're saying is that someone was supposed to die a few months ago during that skirmish and you only now are telling me this?" I asked my wife through my mind.
It's not that I neglected to tell you. She started. It's… how do the mortals put it?
"You had to find it?" I asked.
Yes, that's correct. She answered.
I rolled my eyes "So you want me to kill 'em?"
Absolutely not. She cannot die by any hand other than the one that was meant to. She explained again. Otherwise it will upset the order of-
"Blah blah blah. I get it. I can't kill 'em." I cut in annoyance.
I then looked at the hotel that a team was in that I just so happened to be surveying. JNPR I suppose it was called. The ginger amazonian was comforting the guy who faked his transcripts about something.
I never understood why the old man let him in despite me telling him those signatures were forgeries.
But I guess I won't know. Considering how I found his body.
The guy named Qrow told me he wasn't worried, but wouldn't divulge. He kept saying "You'll see sometime soon."
I hate how everyone I've met has either played the pronoun game with me or is deliberately cryptic.
The one who forged his transcripts pulled out a scroll, the only reason I know that is due to how everyone on this planet has access to one. From what I understand, it's like a cellphone back where I'm from.
I couldn't tell what he was saying, but it seems as though he was planning something with the person on the other end.
Qrow did tell me to keep an eye on the students, And whatever they have planned, I should keep up with.
For now though, I need something warm. Sure I can create more bodily heat than the average man, but even I have my limits to the cold. Besides that, I'm pretty sure steam is coming off me and that attracts attention.
… Probably because I'm on a rooftop too…
{Jaune's perspective}
Come on Ruby pick up…
… voicemail. Might still be asleep. Great.
"Jaune?" Pyrrha asked.
I sighed as I put my scroll away. "Ruby told me what her uncle said. About Mistral. And I think we need to get going sooner rather than later."
Pyrrha nodded in agreement "Let me find Nora and Ren. We'll discuss a plan together once Ruby is able to."
I gave her a nod, "Sounds good."
She then walked up to me and gave me a peck "Don't overwork yourself. Okay?"
I was frozen admittedly. Unsure of what to say I stammered "Uh… r-right, I-I won't."
She giggled and walked to the door to find Ren and Nora.
