Mary walked out of the bank for the second time that day, tucking the documents into her new purse, doing her best to prevent wrinkles. Her next stop was a shop that sold mainly electronics to get a phone and laptop that ran on magic. Then another shop that sold her a duffel bag with a feather-light charm and an undetectable extension charm to fit everything in it. Finally, she made her way to Flourish & Blotts to get books about the supernatural in America.
She made her way back to her room at the Leakey Cauldron to set up her laptop and make a list of everything that needed done. By the time Hedwig got back to the room after a hunt, Mary had already written to all those she needed to. She told her friends that she was safe, not to bother looking for, and that she wasn't going to participate in the war. She told Hermione, Ron, and Dumbledore that they wouldn't be able to find her and that they would have to find someone else to fight their war for them. She apologized to the twins, Ginny, Luna, Neville, Sirius, and Remus for leaving and thanked them for their friendship.
That was one thing off the short list. The only other was to get a new wand without the trace.
Mary covered her scar with some of her new makeup and walked down Knockturn Alley to the best custom wand shop in London, according to many of the purebloods. It didn't have a sign in the front advertising the shop name, only the wares. She walked in, taking in her surroundings.
"I will be right out," a man called from the back. A few moments later, a man who bore great resemblance to Olivander, he was maybe a decade younger. "You are looking for a wand?"
"Yes."
"What was your former wand, as you look older than eleven?"
"Holly and phoenix feather. Since I had blocks removed, it doesn't work as well. I'm looking for one without a Trace if you can do so?" Mary asked, challenge in her voice.
"Of course I can." He set out multiple types of wood. "Let your magic draw you towards your wood," he told her. She let her magic guide her to a dark stick near the center of the layout. "Ah, pine, a loyal wood that will adjust to the user's preference. Mostly neutral. Now pick your core." He laid out many different shaped and sized cores. She was drawn to two different cores. A feather similar to one of Fawkes and a vial of foggy green-tinted liquid. "Phoenix feather, for protection and healing, and basilisk venom, for protection and often associated with the Dark Arts. Come back in an hour and it will be done."
