A Thousand Hearts

Dean's only had his heart broken by one person. What's he going to do when it happens again?

I'd broken a thousand hearts,

Before I met you,

And I'll break a thousand more,

Before I'm through,

Dean's a heart breaker,

Not one of the broken hearted,

This was the second time Dean had his heart broken by a girl. The words still resounded in his head, playing over and over again like a broken record.

"Dean, I don't think we should go out any more"

her pretty face stuck out like a solitary blood red rose growing in a field of white snow, her name sounded like heaven to him.

"But Ella…it's been so perfect between us"

even the way she shook her head from side to side was beautiful!

"that's just it! it's too perfect!"

Dean struggled to grasp what she meant.

"how can perfect be a bad thing?"

her sad smile could make even the toughest person break down into a blubbering mess.

"Dean, as hunters… nothing is perfect for this long. You know that as well as I do"

he'd agreed with her on that one. In the supernatural world, nothing was perfect or going well for more than a few seconds.

"I know your number one priority isn't me. It's finding that Demon and killing as many sons of bitches you can on the way. I know I shouldn't want to be your one and only focus point but I want more of your attention every day!"

he knew that he Demon was his prime target, but he loved Ella more than anything else. Except his family.

"can't you just settle for being number 2 until I kill this thing, then I can devote all of my time to you?"

she shook her head again as she packed up her gear,

"I don't like being number 2! I know I should be able to settle for number 2 but I just can't!"

she stomped her foot on the ground as a tear ran down her cheek and mingled with her beautiful red hair,

"I love you, I really do. Come and find me when you're done with hunting"

He watched her walk out the door. He remember talking to himself after her car drove away,

"so this is how a heart breaks"
