Chapter 13

Howdy everybody! Hope you all enjoyed the last few chapters sure they've taken quite a bit to write. Btw people who live in countries with heat regularly above 30 degrees, how do you do it? It's been around 20 here and i'm on fire lol. Anywho~ today we have chapter 13 and we've all reached the half way point of the current arc, trying my best to get these out fast so we can get to the next arc before summer ends since well, it's a summer arc.

And to anyone else who's constantly searching for more spectacular spider-man related content, i recently found the fanfic "Along came some turtles" by the legendary dragon reaper which is a crossover with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and i say this as not the biggest fan of TMNT, this fic is amazing. Can't suggest it enough.

FictionWriter453: Thank you so much for the review, love the in-depth theory for the pairing! Who will Peter end up with indeed, all i'm saying is that things are about to hit the fan after this arc. But no Liz or BlackCat? ;)

Boybay44: It was actually the usual length lol I just kept it to three or so main events and who knows~ might be something we'll have to come back to later on ;)

Guest: Thank you for the review :) I'm sorry to say though that i can't elaborate on who the pairing is at the moment.

Narutaard: Thanks for the review, here's more!

"So she was on this wild goose chase hunting Hammerhead down through the sewers with her goons, he got away or atleast I thought he had, turns out a few weeks later that she'd actually gotten her hands on him" Peter said gesturing with his hands to emphasise the situation whilst Eddie just stared on bored out of his mind.

"She hog tied him and had this massive get together of thugs, there was like one hundread and fifty of them! From what I saw she was trying to take over as the big man, er woman, but that's when things went haywire!" Peter explained as Eddie watched him, his head supported by his palm that was resting against the table.

"And how did you see all this Mr. Spider, were you on the roof?" Eddie asked which seemed to stop Peter momentarily at the question.

"No I was just in the neighbourhood, you know as Spidey's photographer..."

"Riiigghhhttt" Eddie drawled out as he rolled his eyes.

"Anyway, half the people suddenly took out weapons, saying their allegience lay elsewhere and that Sable was a sham, man it was intense! People were screaming that she should just give up and let Kingpin rule, it was maddness."

"Wait..., Kingpin?" Eddie asked, his eyes wide in the biggest showing of emotion yet.

"Yeah Kingpin, do you know anything about him?" Peter asked curiously, he'd been asking every thug he subdued but he still only knew the bare minimum about this elusive figure Daredevil had brought up.

Eddie paused for what seemed like a few mintues as if debating what to do with this new piece of information before finally deciding on a response. "Look, Kingpin is bad news. Some people I knew in college were in debt to him and the horror stories they told me...then again what do you care about people struggling."

"Eddie I do care, i'm trying my best." Peter reassured, ignoring the scoff that made its way out of Eddie's mouth.

"Yeah right."

That marked the end of Peter's time in the room as the guard came back in to take him out.

"See you soon Eddie." Peter whispered sadly at the state of their relationship as he was escorted out of the room by the security guard whilst Eddie just looked on with a glare at his former brother.

"Man this summer is gonna be a scorcher at this rate" Peter said to himself as he sat down at the lunch table with his bagged food.

"Atleast we have that thing next month sure." Came Gwens voice from behind Peter as she sat down beside him with her tray of food.

"What thing?" Peter asked curiously with a smile at seeing who was now beside him.

"H-Huh? Oh you know the thing" Gwen said with an awkward chuckle before sighing and looking Peter in the eyes. "Look Harry has a surprise for everyone and it's not my place to say it."

Well that's odd but each to their own Peter guessed as he took a bite out of his pear. "Where is Harry anyway?"

"Oh he's on another phone call with " Gwen said with a shiver before taking a sip of her water. "What about MJ?"

"Same actually, she's on the phone to the modelling agency, apparently they were over the moon with the photos we took on saturday and already want her in the studio for the summer catalogue." Peter explained as he finished off his pear whilst Gwen nodded from beside him.

"That's awesome!" Gwen cheered for her friend before a weird look entered her eyes and her posture became more subdued. "...And how did the photo shoot go?"

This seemed to catch Peter off guard as he looked surprised at the question. "Oh it went fine, we did ten poses with ten outfits and then a few headshots." Peter said with a smile and slight blush as he thought back to that saturday and the ahem, interesting, outfit choices.

"That's cool, did the company provide the outfits then for her?" Gwen asked curiously as she drank more of her water which was now half way empty.

"Nope we just used what she had in her room like the fall formal dress, some jeans, a swimsuit etc." Peter explained unflinchingly before taking a bite out of his ham and cheese sandwhich.

*CRACK*

A sudden noise drew Peter's attention away from his food and towards Gwen and her now squished water bottle that she was gripping tightly as she stared at Peter shocked.

"Wow really? That must've been fantastic." Gwen said through gritted teeth as she let go of her water bottle to take a big bite out of her apple, chewing ferociously whilst Peter looked on in confusion.

"Yeah it was pretty cool, I tell you we were exhausted by the end of the day."

"Mhmm" Gwen mumbled before swallowing her food and glaring at the table. "You know i've some news aswell."

"Oh really? What's the news, is it the recital?" Peter said enthusiastically as he turned to focus entirely on Gwen so that he could hear her over the cacaphony of noise that was expected during lunch.

"You remembered" Gwen said with a smile before nodding her head and smiling even harder. "Yep! finally told us where it was being held, and oh my gosh Peter i'm so excited but scared."

"That's so cool, I'm glad she finally lifted the gag order on it! So don't keep me waiting, where is it?" Peter said matching Gwen's enthusiasm, their previous conversation all but forgotten.

"ESU concert hall!" Gwen said in excitement that Peter matched as he held his head in his hands in shock.

"Gwen that's amazing! You're gonna be fantastic, your dad must be so proud!" Peter said happily in support.

"He's over the moon, he's had his ticket in his cruiser for days now" Gwen laughed as she thought back to that morning when she'd gotten a lift and spotted it in the glove/ potato compartment.

"That sounds like him alright haha, where are we all sitting?" Peter asked after joining in with Gwen's laughter which quickly died after his question.

"Em, Peter look, I only got two tickets and you're always so busy, MJ's modelling and my dad's a given so i invited Harry instead." Gwen said with a wince as she watched Peter's smile slowly turn into a frown.

"Oh. But I'd try my best to be there?" Peter said dejectedly as his words rang hollow to even himself.

"You haven't been one for consistent depence Peter and I need someone there desperately, just look at my legs, they're shaking already at the thought of messing up this concert!" Gwen said with a wild look in her eyes as she and Peter gazed down past her skirt at her legs that were indeed shaking under the table.

'If she's this tense now she really will need someone there...i'd probably just let her down' Peter thought morosely as he watched Gwen take a deep breath to try calm down.

"Don't worry Gwen you'll do fantastic, you'll be the star of the review and your dad and Harry will be there for you when you need it" Peter said a bit sadly, his eyes showcasing a much deeper pain as he watched Gwen look at him and smile at his words.

"Yeah your right Peter they'll be there and it will go great" Gwen said with a small chuckle as her confidence soared from Peter's words.

'Glad to help' Peter thought dejectedly as he took a bite out of his mango.

"Petey?" Came a voice from behind Peter and Gwen.

Turning around wondering whether it was one of their friends who'd finished their phone calls or someone else, Peter and Gwen had differing reactions to seeing who it was. Peter smiled and raised an eyebrow whilst Gwen matched an equally sickening glare with one of her own.

"Petey, i was wondering if we could meet up later, i have an update from Hobbie and I had an idea for what we could do." Liz said after breaking her death stare with Gwen and instead focusing on Peter who she smiled at.

"That sounds like a great idea Liz, say the Silver Spoon at 5pm?" Peter proposed to Liz who nodded her head before turning and walking back to her table where Sally was seething in what appeared to be anger, furious whispering erupting right as Liz got back into earshot.

'Pretty obvious what that's about...' Peter thought with a deadpan as he and Gwen turned back to their food.

"Where's Parker?" Jameson shouted at the top of his lungs over the bustling Daily Buggle staff, a few heads turning to look at the commotion before turning back to whatever it was that they were doing previous.

"Speak of the Devil." Jameson muttered as he spotted everyone's favourite photographer walking out of one of the back rooms. "Parker! My office, now."

'Oh god what did I do now' Peter thought to himself with a wince as he watched his boss move back into his office whilst he walked through the crowds of people working like bees in a hive. 'There's no way he'll agree to my proposal in this mood'

"Goodluck in there Peter, I'm routing for you" Betty said with a smile as he walked past her desk, Ned who was sitting on the desk giving him the guy nod of solidarity.

Returning Ned's nod, Peter turned and said a quick thanks to Betty before walking into Jameson's office where the man was sat behind his desk, fingers laced together and scowl on his face.

"Parker where have you been? I need more photo's of that menace Spider-man here on the double!" Jameson said with a semi-shout to his voice, its natural volume distinctly loud.

"I have a few that should do, just give me a second" Peter said as he began routing through his bag quickly for the afformentioned photo's, finding them relatively fast and passing them into the waiting hands of his boss.

"Trash, decent, good, decent huh well played Parker you got quite the haul today." Jameson said with a smirk as he layed out photo's of Spider-man beating up a bunch of thugs in the park, alleyways and what appeared to be a car park.

"Glad to hear it" Peter said with a sigh of relief, bills were starting to pile up and he really needed the money. 'Especially if i want to spend the money on that ticket'

"Em Jameson?" Peter hesitantly asked for his boss' attention which he got, said boss looking through him as if he wasn't there.

"Yeah Parker what is it, i'm a busy man!" Jameson grumbled as he gathered up the photos he'd layed out on his desk.

"I was just wondering if i could take on some other photography jobs for some extra cash? See there's this girl Gwen and i'm always letting her down but she has this concert and I was thinking of surprising her by getting my own ticket to support her." Peter hastily explained as he wrung his hands together knowing that his chances were slim.

"A girl huh?" Jameson began before laughing uproariously and turning a smiling visage back on Peter. "Why Parker I didn't know you had it in you, this the one from the Osborn event?"

Well that was suprising, Peter wasn't expecting Jameson to remember MJ. Guess he pays attention more than he thought.

"Bah it's none of my business but smart move Parker, big part of being in a relationship is supporting the other person through thick and thin." Jameson said with a wistful tone as he thought back to when he was beginning to date the woman who would become his wife.

"Look we need a few scenic shots of the Manhatten skyline, you get me five good ones and i'll give you fifty dollars." Jameson said explaining the deal that didn't sound too bad to Peter, he'd been expecting something like catch Spider-man red handed stealing sweets from a baby.

"Thank you, I'll have them on your desk by the end of the week." Peter said with a nod as Jameson waved him out of the office.

"So Hobbie wants to do the punishments like I thought, he mentioned something about how the gangs get off too easy and said he wouldn't trust you to be harsh enough...yeah it was a bit heated." Liz elaborated as she and Peter talked about their project whilst walking down the street somewhere in Hells Kitchen.

"Ouch, thanks for biting the bullet Liz don't know where i'd be without you." Peter replied with a smile as he looked at Liz who was blushing slightly.

"N-No problem Petey, glad to help. So anyway I was wondering what section you wanted if Hobbie has punishments?" Liz asked shyly.

"Hmm well what do you want? I'll take whatever's left over." Peter said smiling as he did so, after all Liz was doing to keep this project going it was the least he could do.

"If you're sure...I'll take court proceedings then. I've always been fascinated on what goes on in a courtroom plus i can work with you two easily to keep the flow going." Liz said with a nod, confident in her choice.

"So that leaves me with...lawyers right?" Peter asked after thinking about it for a second trying to remember what the final category they decided on was. "Wonder what to do for that..."

"Correct and that's why we're here. My dad's used a lawfirm out here a few times and suggested we see if we could talk to them, get some first hand accounts for the assignment?" Liz explained happily, obviously pleased with her idea.

"That's genius Liz! but what if they say no?" Peter complimented before asking skeptically as the thought popped into his head.

"Thank you" Liz said happily before sighing and looking up at the clouds above them. "Well that's less than ideal but that's the worst they can do, who knows we might get a positive answer and all it took was a bit of a walk together, not exactly the worst thing is it Petey?"

"N-No... no it's not Liz, it's not even a punishment." Peter said which caused Liz to smile before she stopped outside a bit of a run-down building, the sign reading Nelson and Murdock.

"Well this is the place. Lets see what happens."

llllll

"Hello, my name is Matt Murdock and i'll be your Lawyer this evening." Said the now introduced Matt, a small smile upon his face as he stared at Peter and Liz through blackened shades. "How can I help you?"

"Em, we were just wondering if we could observe, oh gosh i mean watch, no wait i mean see uh" Liz blustered before taking a deep breath to center herself. "We were hoping to get a first hand account of the criminal system for a criminology project we have in school."

"Ah so that's the reason eh? And why did you choose Nelson and Murdock?" Matt asked with a small laugh.

"We meant no disprespect! It's just my dad has used this firm before and had nothing but complimentary reviews for it." Liz explained quickly, not wanting to put her foot in her mouth anymore than she already had whilst Peter just nodded from his place beside her.

"And what was your family name again?" Matt asked with a smile.

"Allan, we're the hotel family." Liz said with familial pride strong in her voice.

"Ah yes, the Allan's, I know the account well. Your fathers a lovely man, it's a shame people tried to sue him for the Goblin putting bombs on his roof when most buildings in the city had them." Matt explained.

"Thank you for your words, it was quite unfair to just blame us in that situation." Liz grumbled, evidently still a bit annoyed at a few members of the public's reaction to the Goblin incident.

"That it was. Now you're here for a first hand account right? I think we can work something out for such eager students." Matt said which put smiles on both Peter and Liz's faces as their meeting took a more pleasant turn.

Swinging down through Mid-towns skyline Spider-man kept his eyes focused on the alleyways for any sight of crime, particularly this Cletus Kasady or anything related to Kingpin, whilst he ignored the abuse being screamed at him from below.

"Murderer!

"Just leave!"

"Traitor!"

Geez it'd been a while since this had happened to him, Spider-man was even starting to think things were looking up for him, guess the old Parker luck will always come in to ruin something.

Passing by the convenience store on 55th street, Spider-man cast his eye towards the alleyway that ran beside it and finally spotted something sketchy. Three guys were talking in the alleyway, one of them holding protectively onto what appeared to be a blue sportsbag.

"So you got the cash?" One of the potential criminals said his body clad in a yellow tracksuit along with what appeared to be a gold chain around his neck. Actually, on further inspection two people had gold chains, the man in the yellow tracksuit and his buddy in the red tracksuit holding the blue sportsbag that was standing beside him.

The man they were talking to looked to be in quite the sorry state, his blue tracksuit dirty alongside the appearant filth caked into his skin as he kept looking around and tweaking.

"Y-yeah Johnny you know i'm good for it." The blue tracksuit wearer said to the yellow tracksuited one as he opened up his tracksuit top to show not only a disgusting white polo covered in food stains but a large wad of cash in the inside pocket. This seemed to be what the other two men were looking for as their eyes lit up at the sight of the money before a measured look came across them.

"You can't blame us Vincent, remember that time we had to break your leg cause you were late with payment? How'd you even get this money anyway?" Johnny said simply as he raised one of his eyebrows high in speculation.

"M-mysterio." The man now known as Vincent stuttered with a twitch as he began scartching at his neck rapidly. "H-helped him jack some rich dude last week."

"Fair enough." Johnny and the man in the red tracksuit shared a look before Johnny stretched hs hand out, palm upwards, as he waited for the money to be dropped into his hand.

"H-here, now gimme!." Vincent said as he passed over the entire wad of cash to Johnny who started to count it, occassionally sending mistrustful glances up at Vincent before looking over to the man in the red tracksuit and nodding.

Vincent quickly snatched the blue sportsbag that was offered to him and riped the zip open to reveal the bag was filled with heroin and cocaine that he eagerly tested by rubbing some on his gums from the plastic bag it was in unaware of the surroundings.

Johnny and his partner meanwhile turned around to leave the alleyway only to come face to face with every thugs worst nightmare, except a competent judge, Spider-man.

"Howdy fellas, nice how is it defined? Ah yes, drug deal...illegal drug deal at that! Don't you guys ever quit ruinning peoples lives?" Spider-man asked cheerily, hanging upside down infront of the thugs before doing a flip to avoid the red tracksuited guy's fist which quickly occupied the space where his head was.

"Aren't you one talk murderer?" Johnny snarled at Spider-man as he landed on the red tracksuited guys shoulders and smashed him onto his back, before delivering a roundhouse kick to Johnny who charged him.

Johnny went flying to the ground where Spider-man was quick to follow up with a web to keep him on the ground before shooting one at the red tracksuited man behind him on the ground.

"It's nice having an easy bust once in a while." Spider-man remarked as he walked over to Vincent who was hiding behind a trash can rubbing cocaine on his gums.

"Howdy!" Spider-man said after popping his head infront of Vincent who jumped in suprise, dropping his bag of drugs before he too was webbed, this time to the wall and bin beside him.

"Murderer! Please spare me!" Vincent said crying as if he finally realised just who was infront of him which did little to impress Spider-man who just watched him with a frustrated look on his face.

"Oi, know anything about Kingpin?" Spider-man said walking back over to Johnny before he kicked his foot gently getting more obscenities thrown his way from the struggling drug dealer.

"I'm not saying shit to you prick!" Johnny shouted in fury at the notion he'd be a snitch whilst Vincent's crying could heard getting louder.

'Might aswell take advantage of my situation...even if I don't like it.' Spider-man thought to himself as an idea sprung to mind. "You sure that's all you have to say? I mean you all know my reputation...and my tempermental nature. So what do you say, you tell me some info and I just call the police?"

"Go to hell!" Johnny spat at Spider-man who was looking down at him in annoyance, the red tracksuited guy nodding in agreement and moaning whilst Vincent continued crying.

"Now that's not nice pal, you sure you don't want to tell me before I get angry? You wouldn't like me when i'm angry." Spider-men said in what he hoped was a threatening voice only for Johnny to scoff, but not before Vincent made himself known.

"Let me live I'll tell you all I know!" Vincent howled in fear as snot dripped from his nose, mixing with his tears as they both ran down his face.

"Vinny! So glad someone decided to take advantage of the situation and save your miserable ass." Spider-man said kinda rudely as he walked back over to Vincent stuck to the wall.

"Vincent you say anything and you're dead!" Johnny shouted out at him in outrage.

"Well i'm gonna be killed by Spider-man if i don't!" Vincent argued back with a hiccup in his voice as he kept crying.

"No you won't you coward!" Johnny rebuked angrily.

"Hush you" Spider-man said as he shot a web at Johnny's mouth effectively rendering him mute and leaving him to mumble in apparent anger as he tried to get out a few words. 'Most likely death threats and obscenities' Spider-man thought to himself.

"Finally, some peace and quiet" Spider-man said only to wince as Vincent cried even harder at his actions, after all to his right are his dealers but in the way of seeing them is the bin he was hiding behind so he has no idea what happened to silence his dealer.

"Look Vinny, just tell me what I want to know and you'll be fine." Spider-man reassured which got the crying to subside before Vincen began spouting as much info as he could.

"H-he's a crime boss who does loads of messed up stuff from human trafficking to murders, there are even rumours he killed the previous police captain before Stacy took over." Vincent explained, swearing that that was all he knew which seemed believeable.

'Well that double checks Daredevils info about Kingpin and from what Vinny says here he's not afraid to hurt people to get what he wants, i'll need to warn Captain Stacy. I can't risk Gwen loosing him like I lost uncle Ben.' Spider-man thought seriously, the situation having become alot more serious now that he knew there really was a new experienced big-man of crime.

'Just one bit of info left to check...' "What about Daredevil, what do you know about him?" Spider-man asked suspiciously, his eyebrow raising when he saw Vincent stop crying and instead get angry.

"T-That prick smashed my crack pipe and my nuts! Simple robbery and this a-asshole shows up and starts beating the shit out of me, me! A law abiding citizen!" The crackhead Vincent complained before profusing his innocence.

"Well Vinny I've got some good news! I'm gonna leave you alone now, whatcha think about that?" Spider-man asked as Vincent just seemed to deflate as if a pressure was off his shoulders.

Swinging out of the alleyway right as officers DeWolf and her partner Carter showed up at the entrance to the alley, Spider-man was quick to make his way to Hells Kitchen.

'Seems like i might have a new ally.' Spider-man thought to himself with a bit of hope, an ally would really help ease the shitshow that was this new crime boss.
