Agent Piper
It was a lazy afternoon when Jason and Leo sat on the couch in Jason's room. After almost starting a fire, Leo managed to get a livestream of Piper going. She was wearing a pair of glasses that Leo designed specifically for this occasion.
It was times like these where Jason was glad to have a 4k TV in his room. They were watching exactly what Piper was doing in real time.
Piper walked down the sidewalk of 52nd street which was busy at this time of day. Piper didn't look out of place amongst the stressed and rushing pedestrians. Piper even dressed for the occasion, wearing a black hoodie with a orange heart on it and jeans. Apparently, she had a idea but she never told Jason what it was.
"Is this thing on? Hello?" Piper's voice came through the speakers of Jason's TV.
"We can hear you," Leo said into a mic, "Can you sing us a song just to make sure?"
"Haha," Piper deadpanned, "Very funny. Remind me to punch you when I get back."
Finally, the entrance to Ocean Prime came into view. The bright white lights read 'Ocean Prime' which meant Piper was definitely in the right place. She just needed to get in there and find a manager or the guest list.
Piper walked to the glass door and pulled it open. She walked in and was greeted to the really well decorated insides of the restaurant. Jason was wondering just how exactly did Percy come up with the money to get reservations while also thinking that Percy had some good taste when it came to date night.
"Okay, now you just need to find a waitress or manager." Leo said.
Piper was looking around. This revealed all the people sitting down in their tables. Jason realized with horror that Piper was most definitely not dressed appropriately. Everyone was wearing suits and dresses. A few patrons stared at her.
"Well, I messed up." Piper murmured into the microphone.
Leo muted the mic before bursting out in laughter. Jason couldn't help but chuckle. He had warned her to check what the dress code was but Piper insisted she had a plan.
Meanwhile, Piper was being talked to by a waiter, who looked unimpressed with her outfit. The waiter was some guy in his mid twenties with a receding hairline. He was busy lecturing Piper on the dress code.
"We told you to dress formally for your reservation, ma'am." The waiter said.
"Oh, I don't have a reservation. I need to talk to a manager." Piper said.
The waiter paled, as if he'd been told this line a thousand times before. He nodded and squeaked, "Yes, ma'am. Right away." Then he speed-walked out of sight.
"Wow, spoken like a true Karen, you're really a natural at this, Piper." Leo teased.
"I swear to Aphrodite, I'm going to kill you when I get back." Piper whispered.
After about five minutes, a guy in a suit walked out. He must've been the manager judging from his name tag. He was a middle aged guy and bald. Jason was amazed by how shiny this guy's head was. It was like seeing a orb attached to a short human frame. Even Leo would've towered over this dude.
"I was told you needed a manager?" The guy said.
"Yes, I was wondering if you could help me with something." Piper said. Her voice was laced with charmspeak.
"Sure, what do you need help with?"
Jason and Leo grinned. If they were in Piper's position, they would've definitely messed up by now. Jason would've been too busy staring at the guy's shiny head and Leo would have never even made it into the restaurant.
"Well, one of my friends came in here a few nights ago but I can't get a hold of them." Piper said, "Her name is Annabeth Chase. She's blonde, about 18, gray eyes. She would've come in here with a guy with black hair and green eyes."
The manager looked confused at first until he said, "What's the fella's name?"
Piper smiled, "Percy Jackson."
"Doesn't ring a bell, ma'am, sorry." The manager said, "I did have someone by the name of Peter Johnson who matched your description. Came in with a young lady just like you described."
"Oh, that's one of his aliases." Piper excused, "Did Peter happen to have a tattoo?"
The manager lit up, "Why, yes, he did! It was on his wrist. I think it said something like 'SPQR' or something like that?"
"Yep, that's my friend's boyfriend alright." Piper said, "So did they stay here or…"
"Yes they did. Actually, I almost kicked them out because they wouldn't stop making out while they were waiting for their food."
"Sorry, they're kind of recovering from some trauma." Piper said, not even lying at all.
"I figured that." The manager said, "They wouldn't leave each other alone for long."
Jason looked at Leo, "So Percy wasn't lying after all. Now we just need to know where they went afterwards."
"Got it." Leo said. He leaned into the mic, "Piper, ask him if he knows where they went after dinner."
"Um, if you don't mind, can you tell me where they went afterwards?" Piper asked.
The manager nodded, "Yeah, I followed them out because I didn't want them making out in front of the establishment. Not good for business you know?"
"Did they go anywhere around here?" Piper asked.
"Yeah, if you go down the street, there's a hotel not far. I saw them go in there. Good luck on your search." The manager said with a friendly smile.
"Thank you." Piper said as she started to leave. She walked out of the restaurant and looked down the street. Sure enough, there was a huge tower that looked like a hotel. That had to be Piper's next stop. The chance of Percy and Annabeth having gone anywhere else for the night was low, but Lupa always taught Jason to never leave any stone unturned.
"Alright, I'm going to check out the hotel and come home." Piper said.
The sidewalk was so crowded that it took forever for Piper to make it to the hotel. When she walked in, the lobby was being staffed thankfully. Now all Piper needed to do was make sure that Percy and Annabeth actually were here and that the manager wasn't just feeding Piper a story to get her to leave.
Piper walked up to the front desk and rang the bell.
The staff member manning the desk looked up from his computer screen and said, "May I help you?"
"Yes, I'm trying to find my friend." Piper said, "Someone told me they saw her and her boyfriend come in here, but I haven't seen her in days. Did someone by the name of Peter Johnson come in here?"
The staff member tilted their head, "No. We have a Peter but no one with Johnson. We have a Jackson but his first name is Percy, not Peter."
"I wonder how many identity fraud charges Percy is trying to rack up." Leo mused as he and Jason watched Piper talk to the front desk clerk.
"Percy Jackson?" Piper said, "Did he have black hair and green eyes?"
"Yes, he did."
"Okay, so they spent the night here, right?"
The staff member scratched the back of their neck, "Yes. We kind of got some noise complaints about them, something about inappropriate activities. Your friend wouldn't happen to be a part of some human trafficking ring, right? Because I can get the authorities involved to help you if that's the case."
"Holy shit, tell him no right now!" Leo said.
"No, not at all!" Piper said, "If anything, I'd be more worried about Percy to be honest."
"Well, I think I told you all that I can, miss." The staff member said, "We can't give room numbers unless you have a warrant."
"No, it's fine." Piper said, "Thank you for helping."
"No problem."
Piper walked out of the hotel and into the sidewalk. As soon as the door closed behind her, she started laughing. "Inappropriate activities?" Piper giggled, "Please tell me you guys recorded that. That's perfect blackmail material."
"One step ahead of you." Leo said while typing on a tablet, "Recorded it and made copies."
"Alright, Piper, come on home. Don't forget to punch Leo when you get here." Jason said with a smirk.
"Dude!" Leo exclaimed.
